might cause an RFE.. but as explained. just make a cover letter and explain your typographical error.
present a birth certificate showing the right spelling.

good luck! do not worry so much... things will fall into it's rightful places in time.

thanks but his package has already been forwarded to the embassy for the interview. There were a few vowel misspellings here and there, but they make lots of mistakes like that in the old country, like on my marriage certificate my name is nidah but they put nida' like a long a. I hope its not a problem, my husband actually has a really good friend who works inside the embassy everyday! My husband asks him for any questions he might have, and hes been a great help to us. I will try to stay positive. He will have hs birth certificate at the interview, thats all the proof they need.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresUPDATE!
Hi everyone, i just talked to my husband about our little misspelling problem and he just talked to his good friend who works inside the embassy in jerusalem. His friend told him its not a big deal at all. its common for there to be misspellings here and there when you get an english translation of something in jerusalem. He told my husband dont worry about it, its fine, and it wont cause a problem (he works there everyday so he sees everything) Well i guess that just gives me happiness now, i pray to god everything goes well and were reunited soon!!!

Omg i just pray to god that its not an issue and he passes with no problems, he has no record both in palestinian and israeli police certificates, all i can do is wait and pray. Any advice anyone??

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHey maybe someone can help me??
Hi everyone my brother in law had his interview on may 26 2009, and today is june 13 2009. His interview was for a cr1 visa and he had a very successful interview with a very nice co, he was in and out in 45 minutes. The co told him he'll get the visa in 1-2 weeks. It has now been 2 weeks and 4 days, and he hasnt received it yet. Is this normal?? I mean he had all his documents in order, everything was perfect, but he hasnt received his visa yet, what do yall think. Do you think its still early to be worrying? He had his interview at the consulate in jerusalem. My uncle actually mentioned yesterday that they are giving out the visas on the 15th of the month. My brother in law also went to the aramex place where they deliver the visas and they told him that its normal for the visa to take this amount of time. My sister also wrote the consul an email about 3 days ago, how long does it take for them to respond??

Hi everyone, i posted a previous post about my brother in law not receiving his visa after 2 weeks. Well, yesterday we called DOS and they said that the visa was issues on MAY 28, when the interview was MAY 26!, thats 2 days after the interview. Anyways, how come he hasnt received the visa yet??? Could they have forgot to send it out??? MAybe they forgot to mail it? He went to every aramex in the city and no one had his visa.... What should he do? Hes going to the consul tomorrow. I mean DOS clearly stated visa issued may 28, so what do yall think?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFIND OUT TOMORROW NGHT!
Hi everyone, tomorrow midnight my time my husband will be going to his interview, which is 8:30 am his time. I will be awake awaiting the results. I have seen so many successful interviews so far on vj and i hope to have the same success. My only only only worry thats just driving me crazy is when we filed his papers, his middle name is jamil but we spelled it like jameel, same name just 2 e's instead of an i, but on his birth c and our marr cert, it states fathers name is jamil, .............................and after i sent in his ds-230 and instruction packet and copy of passport and all that stuff, when i received his appointment letter, nvc had actually changed his name on the appointment letter with the exact name on passport, without my knowledge, so basically they have him under his passport name spelling, which is a good thing i guess, i never received an incomplete or rfe or anything, they changed it themselves. Now interview is here and i praaaaaaaay that everythings quick and hes approved. Wish us luck everyone and pray for me!! i wish everyone good luck, i hope i have good news soon....inshallah.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresINTERVIEW RESULTS
Hi everyone my husband had his interview today, he said the co was very nice and and that he was approved BUT they co wants me to send a small "no tax" note stating that i dont work therefore i dont file taxes, signed and dated ???????? He gave him a paper stating that " It cannot issue you a visa at this time under section 221(g)" also, " In order to complete processing of your visa application, please provide the following" and it says "no tax note from petitioner". Basically just a few line stating that i dont pay taxes because i dont work, and i am dependant on my father because in our customs it is not necessary for the female to work. it does not say he needs further review or that he is denied, just that to complete processing send tax note.

I cant believe it, i started crying when my husband told me, he was assuring me that the co told him everything was perfect and as soon as i send this note and my husband sends it to them then they will call him to send his passport.
I have already typed out the letter and i will overnight it to him. HAS ANYONE EVER HAD THIS KIND OF EXPERIENCE WHERE YOU HAD TO SEND IN ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS????????? HOW LONG DID IT TAKE, I FEEL LIKE IM ABOUT TO BREAK DOWN!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCAn we do this??
Hi well my husband was requested an additonal document after his interview, the embassy will have it next week. Can my husband send his passport along with the additional document or is that a bad idea?? Ive seen on a few posts here that some people sent their passport along with their requested documents. Or should i wait for them to call him?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSO HARD
I never thought id feel this way after my husbands interview. I never thought this would be the hardest year of my life. I wish i could rewind time so i could be back with my husband. I dont care about living in america, as long as hes with me i dont care. All day i try to cheer myself up but im just numb now. He passed his interview but they wanted an additonal document from me which ive already sent to him. I just feel scared, how long until they call him to send his passport? what if there are additional delays?? I hate not knowing, i hope it doesnt take long. All i can do is pray hard that it doesnt take long, inshallah. Our 1 anniversary is a couple weeks away, it would be a miracle if were together. I feel like visa journey is taking over my life. Why cant i just be with my husband like a normal couple. My husband wants me to be strong, he always assures me that inshallah everything goes quick and its not a big deal that they wanted an extra paper from me. I pray that they approve it quickly and call him. I cant wait til this is all over, whenever that day is. Ive learned in this process that i dont deal with pain that good, i cant handle it.
I would love to hear from someone who was requested to send in additonal document after their interview and how long did it take til they issued the visa, someone with the same experience, it would surely give me hope, cause i need it now.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhen to file petition for K-1 visa ?
I believe the fiancee visa is good for 6 months once approved. The process itself could take anywhere from 3-12 months realistically based on which countries are involved and if everything goes smoothly. So technically that gives you a 9-18 month standard window to work with for planning.

I would imagine if you started now, you would be safe. If the process moves more quickly than hoped for, you can slow it down yourself.

Basically, with the 6 month window after approval, if you are approved on or after May/June 2008, then you are very much in the safety range for making plans in October 2008.

I would certainly get started right away if it were me.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAbout Original documents ...
I have read both of those links probably 50 times over the past months.

Both basically state the same thing:

"Consular officers may ask to see originals of documents. The applicant may submit a photocopy of a document along with the visa application but should bring the original document for the officer’s inspection."

They just never say "which" original documents must be submitted.

I'd just like to know specifically which ones are required to be original. There doesn't seem to be a list anywhere that I can find.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAbout Original documents ...
First of all, I'm a brand new member! Hello everyone! The information I've found on VisaJourney has been most helpful in my quest to avoid the use of an attorney to do my dirty work.

Anyhow, as for my question:

I have prepared quite an amazing Affidavit of Support package, awaiting now the arrival of my NAO2 still--even though the the email said it was mailed on the 4th of October...

...however, I have read many articles stating that I need to send my beautiful fiancee the original documents from my I-129F packet for her interview.

My question is what original documents is this referring to?

Do I need to send her all of the cards and letters she's sent me in the mail, my receipts in the Philippines, my original bank statements, cell phone bills, etc? I was under the impression I only needed to copy these items.

What exactly "must" be original that she is going to need at the interview?

Any advice on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs NAO2 Hardcopy required at interview?
Hello.

Arlyn and I have not yet received our NAO2 Hard Copy, and our interview will most likely be on December 21st at this rate.

What are we supposed to do now?

Can we pass the interview without it?

I have called CSC and had them request a new one, but it still hasn't arrived.

I have emailed them, and only received an automated response that we had been approved--which was redundant.

I don't want us denied the Visa simply because CSC hasn't given us our NAO2 Hard Copy.

Can I simply print out the approval email notices and provide the NVC letter in place of it if they do not send us that Hard Copy in time of the interview?

Help!

What on earth could this mean?

Our case is already in Manila and we have our interview date already.

I'm so confused!

Anyone else get something like this so late in the process?

Could it simply be them sending me another NOA2 Hard Copy perhaps, since I requested one?

What on earth?

If you have a bank account, just go to your bank.

They will do it for free just because you're a customer.

Wachovia notarizes everything for me at no charge, and even gave me all of my required records for the Affidavit I needed (stacks of paper) showing all my deposits and withdrawels, history, etc, all neatly organized, and done month by month. I'm sure it took the gentleman a good 2 hours to do, and they charged me nothing.

In the end, if your bank charges you anything for some strange reason--just switch to Wachovia!

Look closely at the example forms, http://www.visajourn.../Form-I-134.pdf

I-134 is used for more than K-visas, other non-immigrant visas like student, and visitors, the sponsor can indicate how long and how much they will sponsor, this is not the case for K-visas, so 11 is N/A for the NON-Immigrant K-visas because they have immigrant intent.

aFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT QUESTION # 11. Why on the example form the answer is "N/A (K1 visa process for permanent residence)..Does it mean the petitioner do not have intend to support the person named in item # 3 which is the beneficiary? What is the correct answer for that? Any respond will greatly appreciate!!!

I can assure you that it does not matter at all. They are only interested in the employment letter and whether or not he meets the poverty guidelines. There is no need to change the information there for that line, because they won't read it anyways. There's no set in stone saying that must be placed there. You can elaborate on your intended support, orput N/A. It will make absolutely NO difference for K1 visa applicants.

And even though we must endure the separation (and the lack of enthusiasm-or outright disapproval of the relationship), it is worth it in the end because we have that REAL, DEEP, ENDURING, TRUE LOVE. wub.gif

Absolutely. I have explained the situation to a number of people and have had some old-fashioned, lazy American comrades say specifically: "I could never love anyone that much, and go through ALL of that trouble for true love."

My response to them usually is, "Why not?"

In modern-day society, everyone is so slack on marriage vows and too comfortable with divorce. They really don't care about true love. It's all about money, status, and appearance to the majority of them.

Well, I find myself wanting the real thing--living a life of long happiness and experiencing the "until death do you part" quote cited during the wedding vows.

What makes us different from those people is we will go any lengths to find true happiness and love until we have it. They, for the most part, are just simply lazy and settle for what they can get due to lack of patience and concern. The common, "Wow, she's hot--I'm sold" attitude. Although, sometimes you'll find that rare couple that ran into each other as childhood neighbors and enjoy a 75 year marriage--however, I feel those days are quite behind us in the States now. That type of local love rarely takes place anymore due to the upbringing of our modern society and accepted liberalistic lifestyles.

I'm in the same boat. We've been apart for 8 months and we're going to be seeing each other next week - after less than 2 weeks together this year. I'm also only 2 weeks away from my interview so the largest part of the wait for us is over, thankfully. But it has been very hard for people around me to understand what it's like. It's difficult for me not to take it personally when they don't get as excited... but I do think a lot of it is that they genuinely have no idea! The significance of getting NOA2 just doesn't mean much to someone who isn't clued up on the immigration process. I too find myself getting frustrated by the number of people who assume that if you marry a USC it magics you into the country... and when I've explained the K1 process and the waiting involved I've had a few people try and make suggestions on how they think it would be quicker if I did XYZ... As if we were somehow choosing to take a long immigration route and ignoring some quick route! It's hard at that point not to completely lose my rag. But I do try and remember that anyone not familiar with the process simply isn't going to appreciate the milestones along our visa journeys. That's why VJ is such a great place, to share such moments with people who really understand.

This is when you should counter them with something that catches them by surprise!

When they start making XYZ suggestions (proving they have no clue), then you should look at them and say, "Well, I considered taking that route, actually. However, I discovered that by doing so, we would be hit with immigration fraud which would bar my SO from entering the country for 10 years and I would be fined $250,000 and face other charges. Things are so complicated now due to threats of terrorism these days!"

Sometimes they'll look at you with this crazy look--because they simply have no idea of how severe the situation is. Then look at them and tell them, "In order the prepare everything legally and correctly, we just finished sending off this I-129F packet for the K1 Fiancee Visa application process. It was only about 5" thick and full of long tedious documents. Oh, and that's just the first packet! You should see the next four we've got to send out. This is only the begining of the process!"

Just be honest with those willing to listen, and who are caught by surprise by the smallest details. Those people sometimes even want to listen and learn a little about the process. If you say things with confidence, such as above, most of the time they assume you know what you're talking about, and listen. That is why I suggest saying I-129F packet for the K1 Fiancee Visa application process, rather than just Fiancee Visa. It lets them know that you know exactly what you're talking about, and they will not be able to side-track you with statements on a process they know nothing about.

Rather than looking for empathy, sympathy or understanding from these people--try educating them.

They "can't" understand unless they know.

Think of it like this... a football guru sees a touchdown that just won a game by his favorite team ... he might fall down in the bleechers screaming so loud that he loses his hotdog and drink, and spills it on his screaming neighbor--and neither of them care! Their team just WON!

...however, the visitor who knows nothing about football, or the team, walks by and sees everyone screaming, and has no clue why, nor does this visitor care, because he knows nothing of the situation. Instead, he will think everyone is a little looney for screaming and yelling over something so trivial. He has no idea how close the game was, or how hard the athletes worked to make the comeback win in the final seconds.

People standing outside of our Visa process view us the same way. We get our NOA2 notice, and we scream and dance around our homes and are like glitter for the next few days at work and in public--but those outside looking in have no idea why, and just think we've either won something or are crazy.

Look at it from their viewpoint before judging them, and think of ways to educate them on the process that won't bore them or turn them away from you further.

Hi everyone,

I'm sorry about this little rant....

As you can see by my sig, we just got our NOA2 approval. We've been apart for 5 months already during this stretch, and before that, we were lucky to see each other 2 weeks out of the year for the last 3 years. It is very hard, as many of you know. What is even harder is that this time, we have an infant. We made the agonizing decision, once we found out I was pregnant, to wait till he was born to file the I129f, because we didnt want to take the chance that things would get tied up to the point where it might have been difficult for him to re-enter the US for the birth while our case was pending. So, he's been away from his little baby for the last 5 months.

I know many of you can relate to the pain of simply being away from your sweetie for months and months on end, and I know many of you can also relate to having children separated from one parent for months and months on end.

So, here comes my rant....

After all of this, with friends and family knowing darned well how long we're always separated for, when we finally get some good news (the NOA2 being approved), we barely get any kind of response. A gentle "hey, grats" is about the extent, and some people could not even muster that much!

How can these people claim to care so much about me/us, and see me/us suffer for so long, and not seem to care that this waiting is getting closer to being over?

If people have not been thru this, they simply cannot fathom how painful it is to be separated from the one we love. What's funny is, these same people miss their SO when they go away for a weekend or a week, or they commplain when their SO works too many hours in one week...and I want to say "At least you can see your SO at some point during the week! I've been apart from my SO for 5 months, and last year we were separated for nearly the entire year!". They just cannot fathom it, or do not attempt to think about it I guess?

Anyone else get frustrated at stuff like this? ranting33va.gif

They will never understand it.

They will also never have the amazing bond with their SO that we will.

I was married once before for almost 8 years... and I can say that the most intimate of moments I had with my local ex-wife do not even come CLOSE to comparing to even the casual moments I have had with my filipina fiancee.

It's a completely different world to experience the "true love" sensations that people like ourselves have found.

My advice is not to worry about what others think. Focus on yourself and your SO and worry only about what you think.

In the minds of others, they think only a few thoughts: "Mail-Order", "Desperate", "Crazy." They use these imaginings to cover up their jealousy--which will be further confirmed when you are finally together WITH your SO and they see your happiness for themselves--then they'll wonder why they can't experience the same love the two of you share... full of trust, fidelity, commitment and appreciation!

I look forward to spending the next 50+ years with my mahal.

Middle East and North AfricaTuesday thread..

I do have reasons to be here (going thru immigration). I was a reader here for a year.
I will have full TimeLine soon. With a story. I Have some questions to ask in the future, so I will provide them (Probably in AOS forum).
Avatar has its explanaition (besides being jamaican flag). I possibly will PM this tthem to you later. Because if I would post it here it would stir stuff.

I think she meant that you come to the MENA forum but youre profile has Russia and San Fran so not sure what your affiliation with MENA is... not that it matters because anyone is free to post in any topic they choose....
I don't think that is the Jamaican flag... I will look for a pic of the Jamaican flag... however, if the explanaition is too offensive to explain here then maybe it's best not to have it in your avatar. Just a suggestion.
Your profile says you joined on Aug 2006... not a year ago BTW ;)

Not attacking you... just pointing out my observations.

one does not have to be a registered user to read here....only to read and post
