goofy.gif So no one really knows what "VLC" stands for written above the case number on the back of the check? Jameswith said Kathryn41 had her check cashed on the 3rd. We need to find out if the back of her check also has VLC. goofy.gif

goofy.gif Hi all! Our check was cashed yesterday and the image on the back shows it was deposited into the TSC's bank account. Does this mean it is staying at the Texas Service Center? I thought TSC was transferring theirs out and and I saw where someone else sent their package to one service center but another service center actually cashed the check as it was transferred. All I know is under the stamp showing it was deposited to the TSC account, it is written "VLC_ _" and then underneath is our case number (I assume), "SRC_ _ _ _ _ - _ _ _ _ _ , but it is not showing up yet on the USCIS site (yes, I know it's a little early). Can anyone give me any insight? Thanks! goofy.gif

So... assuming they got the check the day after you mailed it... they probably got it March 4th?????

I know they got my package on March 5th.... and the check has not been cashed yet...

And they got another package from Kathryn41 on March 3rd and that was cashed yesterday...

So here's fingers crossed I'll have my reference number tomorrow!!!

goofy.gif Jamieswith - We sent our package on Monday, March 3rd by overnight mail and it was supposed to be delivered by noon but the receipt said someone signed for it at 5 a.m. on March 5th, Wednesday. Anyhow, it was cashed on the 12th, yesterday, so maybe yours will be cashed today. Good luck! goofy.gif

Shari, the same thing happened with our petition it shows cashed at TSC and I have not gotten any paperwork from anyone. I got the information and a case number from the back of our check and it has not been found in the system when I try to check it. I am praying it will show in a week if I am lucky. Good luck.

goofy.gif Mary,

We will have to keep in touch since our dates are close to the same and see if we stay in Texas or get transferred out. Good luck! goofy.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBIOMETRICS SCHEDULE BEFORE NOA.
QUOTE (esrous @ Mar 17 2008, 06:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi Shari,

I though I saw you and your husband's avatar before from this website. smile.gif

Anyway, I'm here in Hoover (Hwy 150 across the Galleria mall). I am actually from the Phil moved here in AL back in Oct 2005.

I actually sent my packet on February 19, TSC received it on the 21st. The check was cashed on March 5th, we used a Cashier's check though so I dont have the check image.

I got the biometric appointment notice on the mail over the weekend. It's dated March 11, 2008 and the appointment will be on the 28th at 11 AM.

When I checked the USCIS website lastnight, it says that my case was transferred to VSC on March 12 and notice of transfer was sent to me then. Well, here's what I thought about not getting a NOA, since TSC transferred my case to VSC, so there's no point for TSC to send a NOA since they're not gonna be processing my case then. And that make sense to me. smile.gif

Anyway, good luck to us. I hope we don't have to wait for a year or so to get our 10 yr greencard.

Rose L

goofy.gif Rose - thanks for replying. We lived in Clay, near Trussville, but my husband got a job in Tampa and it is really nice down here - though I kinda dread what the summer humidity will be. Well, as I said our check was cashed March 12th but we still aren't into the system yet by using our case #, but if it is Texas doing it and not Vermont it might be slower - ugh! Good luck! goofy.gif

Secondly, I checked my case status online and it said that my case was transferred to Vermont. What the heck? I hope I don't have to wait forever for the approval.

Anyway, I hope you guys can clarify me with the the above inquiry.

Thank ya'll

RL

goofy.gif Hi RL. I don't have an answer for you but a couple of questions actually. When did you mail off your I-751? Did you look at the back of your check and did it show it was deposited to Texas (though you are now transferred to Vermont)? Also, how long did it take you to be able to check you case online once your check was cashed?.

The reason I'm asking all these questions is our I-751 also went to Texas and I was expecting it to be transferred to Vermont. We only mailed it 03/03/08 and the check was cashed 03/12/08 but shows it was deposted to the Texas Service Center, so I don't know if we are staying in Texas or being transferred. Also, I still cannot get on and check our status as it shows our case # has not been entered yet.

By the way, where in B'ham do you live? I am in Tampa now but just moved from B'ham in December and lived there for over 30 years. goofy.gif

Ok - the back of the check shows the SRC prefix so that means it has been cashed in Texas. No transfer as of yet, it seems. Interesting.

Can you tell me on the back of your check where it shows the SRC prefix if it has anything else written above it? We also sent ours to Texas and my check got cashed yesterday with the TSC bank, but there it also says "VLC _ _" (two digits) above where it has our SRC # and I didn't know what the VLC meant. I don't think you will have it. We filed in the beginning of Feb and biometrics has already been done; however, still not extension letter. You would think with the new fees they would provide this important document. Calling customer service is not any good since they just claim it had been sent. It should reach you a week after the check is cashed but I would not count on ever receiving it. I guess INFOPASS is the only alternative.

goofy.gif Hi MRMC1. Did your TSC stay at the TSC? If so, there is a new thread (http://www.visajourn...howtopic=118137) for us filing through TSC to track each other. Would you mind putting your information on that link so we can see when you mailed your application in to TSC and when you had your biometrics (by the way, do you remember when you got your biometrics letter too?)? None of us so far on the list have had a NOA or biometric letter yet so with you at least having had your biometrics done it would alleviate some of our stress knowing someone has received something from TSC. yes.gif Thanks! goofy.gif

It seems that no one who filed in Texas from mid-February on has received any type of documentation - either an NOA or the biometrics letter. My cheque was cashed March 10. Last week I called USCIS and was able to get the number that is trackable. The I-751 changes to a CR-189 and a new number is assigned at that time. This number is trackable. My on-line status report says that they sent me a receipt on March 11 but they obviously have not. I haven't received anything nor has anyone who has filed at TSC. Please join us by using the link and adding your name to the list of us 'waiting' for TSC to start doing their job.

I received my bio appointment letter yesterday but no NOA1 extension letter. They have two more months to get it to me or I will infopass.

goofy.gif Eveline: Even though you were transferred to Vermont, you originally filed in March of this year so I am going to put you on our list that Peter referred to (http://www.visajourn...howtopic=118137). My husband had his biometrics appointment last month in the Tampa office. It took him about an hour total. I don't think they allow anyone except the person with the appointment in the office. The office is actually very close to Brandon. If you are coming from Brandon via State Road 60/Adamo, it is before Highway 301. It's in a professional park and is pretty easy to find.

goofy.gif Designermedusa - YEA! It is actually in Brandon - I just Googled it. I think what I was thinking about was the other office where you go for Infopass (can't even remember what that office is called, the local office). Anyhow, I think we MIGHT have to make an Infopass and go down there before May 12th when my husband's GC expires as we have not received our NOA1 extension letter extending his GC and they don't do that when you get your biometrics. Since his biometrics is May 1st, I'm not sure they would send a NOA1 in time so we might have to schedule the appointment a couple weeks before May 12th and then if we get the NOA1 just cancel. Have you guys been down to that office? goofy.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionRecent Tampa Biometrics Experiences?
goofy.gif So is there anyone out there that has been to Tampa for their biometrics in the last month or so? I was wondering if the process is slow there when you go for biometrics. Keith had his AOS biometrics in Birmingham when we lived there and it took about 45 minutes to an hour, but we are now in Tampa and will have the appointment on a Thursday at noon. I don't think you really should arrive much earlier as it doesn't do any good if your appointment is a specific time, but I was wondering once you get there how long has it been taking people to get through? I want to go with Keith but my daughter gets out of school at 3:00 and I have to be back in the Brandon area by 3:00. Also, since we still don't know our way around much (we've only been here four months), is the office easy to find? We haven't ventured into downtown Tampa at all. We've only been local (Brandon), the airport, and to the beaches. Thanks! goofy.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionInfopass for I-751 stamp 12 days BEFORE GC expires?
goofy.gif Hello. Like so many others, my husband has not received his NOA1 (extension letter) for his I-751 and it looks like he won't. Another member on here went for their biometrics the other day and was told that TSC is having glitches and we won't be sending out any NOA1s. So, since my husband has his biometrics next week on on May 1st, do you think we could make an Infopass that same day to get his extension stamp in his passport even though his GC doesn't expire for another 12 days from then (May 12th), or does the GC have to actually expire before his passport can be stamped? Has anyone gotten their stamp a couple weeks before their GC expired? We will be going to the Tampa office in case anyone has any experience at that office. THANKS! goofy.gif

goofy.gif My husband has his biometrics appointment near Brandon at noon on May 1st. We made his Infopass appointment for 9:00 a.m. in Tampa (near the airport) for his I-751 stamp as he did not receive an NOA1 and his GC expires on 05/12/08. Has anyone has an Infopass appointment in Tampa and how long did it take? I want to make sure we have time to get these both done the same day so my husband doesn't have to take off work a second day. We could not make the Infopass any earlier because we have to drop my daughter off at school at 7:30 (and no she can't ride with anyone because we are new here and she doesn't know anyone yet) and I thought it would be pushing it to get from Brandon (where we live) to the Infopass office (I-4 through Tampa) any earlier than 9:00 a.m., though they did have an 8:30 appointment. Of course we have to make it from Infopass in Tampa back to biometrics in Brandon by noon. The latest Infopass in the afternoon was 3:00, but again, we have to pick up my daughter from school at 3:00. Thanks! goofy.gif

We were talking afterward about how nice it will be to have the FN (foreign national) taken off his driver's license but then we wondered HOW will my hubby prove he a US Citizen when he goes to change this. Does he get something at the Oath Ceremony? US Citizenship General DiscussionIs my checklist right?

You need to send the last five year tax transcripts, since you are applying based on the five year.

:goofy: Sorry to say WRONG to Raul y Karla and JKelly07. Gracell, you are correct and here is why: http://www.visajourney.com/content/naturalization_guide which clearly states:

Only if required, send copies of the following documents (the USCIS will request originals if needed):
If an attorney or accredited representative is acting on your behalf, send:
A completed original Form G-28, 'Notice of Entry of Appearance as Attorney or Representative.'

If your current legal name is different from the name on your Permanent Resident Card, send:
The document(s) that legally changed your name (marriage certificate, divorce decree, or court document).

If you are applying for naturalization on the basis of marriage to a U.S. citizen [WHICH GRACELL IS NOT]
, send the following four items:

1. Evidence that your spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the last three years: Posted ImageBirth certificate (if your spouse never lost citizenship since birth), or Posted ImageNaturalization certificate, or Posted ImageCertificate of Citizenship, or Posted ImageThe inside of the front cover and signature page of your spouse's current U.S. passport, or Posted ImageForm FS-240, 'Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America', and

2. Your current marriage certificate; and

3. Proof of termination of all prior marriages of your spouse-divorce decree(s), annulment(s), or death certificate(s); and

4. Documents referring to you and your spouse:
Tax returns, bank accounts, leases, mortgages, or birth certificates of children, or Internal Revenue Service (IRS)-certified copies of the income tax forms that you both filed for the past three years, or an IRS tax return transcript for the last three years.

So Gracell does NOT have to send items 1-4 and Gracell, it doesn't even look like you need the tax information BUT I got my hubby's packet together last week and didn't read it through enough and got all the documents together for it he was married 3 years to a U.S. citizen. He has actually been here married to me for nearly 7 years and I didn't see the "based on 5 years" information until we were putting it in the mail. I checked that box (5 years) but still sent all the documents and hope they don't get mad there are more things than needed now.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN400 based on 3 year or 5 year eligibility any faster

::thumbs:

Shari--
While it depends on how busy your local office is, you will likely find yourself progressing faster than many in your monthly filing group. Why? Because most file 90 days before their eligibility date and not much will happen except biometrics until that eligibility date. Your husband is already past his 3 and 5 year dates, so there's no reason why he couldn't interview tomorrow except for waiting through the various steps. Your fellow monthly filers may have a built-in 90 day wait before they interview and take the oath.

The monthly threads need a column for "eligibility date" if they want a comparison. When the check was cashed is kinda useless IMO. But everybody follows in the same old format as the previous month. Then they wonder how did X get an interview in 6 weeks and Y and Z took 3 months. X wasn't smarter, just already eligible but Y and Z feel left out.

:goofy: Nich-Nick: Good answer. I never thought about it that way, that the Interview would not be scheduled before someone's eligibility date since most people do file the 90 days beforehand. I might play around with the timeline and see if I can get Elibility Date to fit without causing any friction with fellow VJers. :goofy:

:goofy: I was curious whether applying for citizenship based on 3-year eligibility or 5-year eligibility is faster. Not sure if there is any proof out there. Agreed, he would have to call them, I didn't think of that. :bonk:

Metairie doesn't let you go to the window to get the form until after they call appointments for that hour, they are always very busy. I've never tried doing walk-in biometrics because of this. I probably wouldn't advise it though, especially as they would have to drive even further than we do.

:goofy: I thought about it too after posting about calling myself. We will just have to wait. And since we live over 2-1/2 hours away, we would NEVER try a walk-in for biometrics there. If you're bored and have 30 mins to waste you can call USCIS and ask them. Make up an excuse and say you need to know well in advance so you can book the day off work. Ask to speak to an Immigration Officer, the people in the call center won't be able to tell you anything. Also, make them confirm to you where it is! They wouldn't confirm the location for the interview, I'm not sure if they are as strict with the biometrics appointments. If they are, ask them which state it is in so you know where you are going! :)

I was too astounded to know that it takes 47 weeks, that makes almost a year. I am curious to know the right information here as visajourney its a very good forum to cater correct information. Secondly i want to know do i get my original naturalized certificate before or the passport. Your answer put me in great ease, moreover i hope i get my original naturalized certificate back as we were told at oath ceremony if it get lost it takes minimum 8 months to one year. I feel i will be in restless until i get my certificate back.

:goofy: Forgive me, but I laughed out loud when I read "47" as I knew exactly what it meant. My husband and I went to the post office just 5 hours ago for him to submit his application for his U.S. Passport. We were told FOUR to SIX weeks until it came back and from what I have read on VJ lately, the Certificate comes back separately approximately one to two weeks afterward. My husband was somewhat distraught (not really) that they took the original of his Certificate, knowing they had to, but is worried sick about it. At least we used it last week to change is social security card information and get his new driver's license with it before we sent it off for the passport. :goofy:

Does it? On mine it says:

"Due to limited seating availability in our lobby ares, only persons who are necessary to assist with transportation or completing the fingerprint worksheet should accompany you."

I have only seen a couple of people go there on their own. My husband comes with me every time, it's never an issue. Are you sure your husband's doesn't say that? It also says no recording devices but everyone seems to bring in their cell phones.

:goofy: Actually yes, his says the same. I was trying to recall it by my memory, obviously that didn't work well - ha. Keith actually read it to me last night and I didn't read it myself until now. But I didn't think I was "necessary" but I will try to go in anyhow since you say your hubby has and you have seen others who have. :goofy:

I don't think they take lunch. My ROC biometrics were at 12pm, Naturalization biometrics were at 11am. By 1pm they should have completed all of the 12 o'clock appointments. If they haven't they will still call 1pm appointments to the window but you will just have to wait to do the actual biometrics. I get very bored and study these things when I'm there.

When you arrive you will go through security, they will look at your appointment letter and tell you to go to the end window. There's only one place. There are a lot of chairs near it. We got there around 11.30 so 12 o'clock were still sitting in seats waiting. Once they left we moved to a closer seat. I was desperate to get out of there as soon as possible after the long drive there! I'm sure you will be too. They will yell from the window for 1pm appointments around 1pm, so be there a little early. You can always sit and admire the view of the road

:goofy: Keith's biometrics letter does state that due to limited space, only the applicant can come in unless they need help with forms or an interpreter. This means I have to sit out in the car. Is the parking in a decent area? Is it a lot or a parking deck? We Google Earth'd the address so I see it is a tall building. I couldn't tell if there was a parking deck in the bottom of the building or not. :goofy:

:goofy: Hey Rocks - I don't know if you read my other post yet but Keith got his biometrics letter today for Metairie. I was telling him what you told me about getting close to the window, get the form filled out fast after they call all the 1 o'clocks, and turn it in fast to be one of the first to be called. I am hoping since his appointment is 1:00 maybe his group will be first after lunch but maybe they don't take lunch and just have someone there all the time but Keith asked if there was just one window so he would know to get a seat near the correct one. Thanks! :goofy:

When I checked just now under ASC's I see Mobile uses Metairie. My biometrics appointment was sent out about 4 weeks after my NOA1 and we had about 4 weeks notice of having to go there. Unfortunately that means you may be waiting a little longer for your notice. They really struggle at that office, it is always slow.

:goofy: Okay. Thanks for checking. :goofy:
