Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionNEW TSC 1-751 List - Filers since February of 2008 that are staying at the TSC
goofy.gif To my surprise we were touched on Monday, May 19th. I haven't read this thread in a couple days and when I did this morning I decided just to swing by the good ole' USCIS site and to my surprise we were touched. goofy.gif

How long after biometrics before there is a touch? Our bio was last week but still not touch. Is this what everyone else is experiencing?

For those one's that actually got a bio, it seems to vary. Some had a touch the next day, some a week or 2 later.

goofy.gif When we got back from biometrics we had an email stating Keith had been transferred to Vermont. We were also touched that day stating the same thing - that he had been transferred. Then we were also touched the next day for no apparent reason. goofy.gif

Myself, my file has not been 'touched' and the status shows it being sent to vermont, but not received.... so... absolutely nothing.

goofy.gif Keith had his biometrics on May 1st and when we got home we got the email stating he was transferred to Vermont. It did say "Application Type: CRI89, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED". I just looked at it after your post and we were touched again on May 2nd but nothing in the narrative is any different. goofy.gif

So you were also transferred mid-March. It is too bad that they can't update the file for something like that unless another event triggers the update:-). Anyway, congratulations. I assume you got the passport stamp without a problem? My appointment is next Wednesday.

goofy.gif Right, no problem on the stamp. They took the biometrics appointment letter and Keith's passport and didn't even ask to look at his GC. Good luck next week. goofy.gif

goofy.gif So we are back from Infopass and Biometrics. Our Infopass appointment was at 9:00 though we arrived at 8:15 (not knowing how Tampa traffic would be). We went in at 8:15 and were back out in less than 5 minutes. They did not take his GC. Biometrics took Keith 1 hour, 40 minutes of which I spent in the car. So he is good to go for another year. When we got home we got the famous email telling us we had been transferred to Vermont. Updating our information below. goofy.gif

Hi Shari,
I just did the infopass and bio yesterday.. same as you, it was on the same day and the infopass was first.. They gave me back my GC though (but the stamp has the expiring date one year from the stamp date.. not the GC ecpire date) so I think you will be fine.
-A

goofy.gif Thanks Anya. I hope they give Keith his GC back. I told him that sometimes offices take the GC and he said it was "his" because he paid for it (plus since it doesn't expire for another 12 days after the Infopass appt. maybe they will let him keep it). goofy.gif

goofy.gif Question regarding our Infopass for stamp and biometrics same day - I just thought about this and wondered if we need to do the biometrics FIRST and then have our Infopass appointment after in case at the Infopass appointment they take Keith's GC and he has to have it for his biometrics appointment. We have Infopass scheduled for 9:00 a.m. and biometrics is scheduled for 12:00 noon, but do you think we need to change the order? I have read some Infopass offices TAKE the GC while some clip the corner and give it back. I sure don't want them to take it and then Keith have problems getting his biometrics done because he doesn't have his GC. Replies please from those of you that got your biometrics already either with your actual GC or with the I-751 stamp in your passport. Thanks! goofy.gif

Well, apparently not! I just received the following e-mail this morning. My last 'touch' is today - last night it was March 12. It seems like the biometrics might be triggering the transfer:

Now, if TSC follows true to course, the notice of transfer that they said they sent me re: the above, won't arrive either - just like the NOA:-). I wonder if VSC will send out an NOA extending my greencard?

goofy.gif Ok, so apparently everyone is going to eventually get transferred (maybe). Anyhow, make sure you update this list and then I guess you should put yourself on that VSC list now too. There are still three people at the top of our list that haven't gotten biometrics appointments. I know Peter checks out this thread regularly so it's not that those few are not updating. Wonder what is up with them not getting anything yet?

Peter - let us know if you call to find out anything on your status and good luck!

Gag54611 - have you been tranferred to Vermont? goofy.gif

QUOTE (Kathryn41 @ Apr 19 2008, 05:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Well, I just got back from getting my biometrics (I had a few stops along the way back VBG). I was expecting the worse because of other dire experiences VJers had recently had at the Atlanta ASC but this was the easiest time yet! The biggest problem was getting there - massive traffic delays on I-75 due to construction so what should have been a 30 minute trip took 1 1/2 hour - most of it at 10 mph or less. I pulled into a nearly empty parking lot - expecting it to be packed to the gills - and went inside. They didn't allow me to bring my folder in so I had to return that to the car and just hand carry my identification, keys and diabetes medical kit (I don't go anywhere without it!). I filled out the forms and joined the 10 other people waiting. I sat next to a woman originally from Italy who was also getting biometrics for removal of conditions. She isn't VJer. Her lawyer submitted her I-751 5 months ago - and the first response they had received was the biometrics appointment letter that came last week. Her green card is expired already so I explained to her she could make an appointment with the Atlanta office and get the I-551 stamp in her passport. I also told her how she could look up her case status on line:-).

Anyway, I waited a total of 15 minutes (they weren't busy but they were slow!), had a painless fingerprint session with a nice Asian gentleman and that was it! I did check my on line status but there is no change to any information there yet. Maybe there will be either a touch or an update tomorrow. We will see.

QUOTE (Jayde @ Apr 18 2008, 08:09 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Our infopass was successful I now have my extension stamped in my passport, phew

The Miami office was extremely efficient, we had to return to the car to leave the phone with a camera, as it wasnt allowed, so after going through security we were given a number. The screen showed they were calling about 20 numbers before mine, then the 20 cubicles seemed to all come alive and after 15 minutes we were called.

The officer hardly questioned the need for the stamp. When I said we had applied to texas to lift the conditions and that the cheque was cashed he reached for my passport saying we would NOT be getting a NOA, but didnt say why. He wrote the receipt number down for me, for tracking and also told me later in the year that they are opening sub offices, closer to us so we wont have to drive to Miami next time. He thought it would take 12 months to be approved!!

Although we covered all our bases by taking everything they asked for and then some, all we needed was the appointment (mine had a dodgy barcode and i was asked if I was manuel, lol), the greencard and passport.

Hope this helps the next one who needs a stamp for either travel or employment, oh and it expires 12 months from the day it is stamped.

Does anyone know if the 10 year greencard is 10 years from the 2 year expiry date?

goofy.gif Jayde: Glad everything went well. So did they take your GC like we've heard they do? I saw on another thread talk of this and that since you are always supposed to carry your GC, if they take your GC to get the I-751 stamp, you will always have to carry your passport. UGH! goofy.gif

I got 5 letters in my mail box from this guy calling me all kinds of names and telling me I was scum of earth with no thought for other people...now I don't know how he got all this from me by a name of a character and by me selling a virtual bag cheaper than him on a virtual AH in a virtual world. I was quite taken a back at his venom, I did reply and tell him he needs to step away from his computer and take a walk outside and calm down laughing.gif

Grown up people in Wales often refer to their as parents daddy/mammy so I don't find it very weird...my daughter still calls me "mummy" and she is 19 laughing.gif apart from when I embarrass her..then it is "mother" followed by "omg"

CanadaPositive TP test, negative X-Ray, anti-biotic for 6 months.
I tested positive also and received the BCG vaccine as a child, my xray was neg....the US military Dr who tested me strongly encouraged me to take the 9 month course of antibiotics....I chose not to, they are very harsh on your liver, hence the no drinking rule and was required to take a monthly blood test to check for any damage.

CanadaWoW'ers stand up and be counted!!!

I read something interesting and sad today. Perhaps some folks here are familiar with The Cynical Brit (Aka TotalBiscuit) - WoW and gaming shout/podcast and audio blogging. Youtube videos and whatnot. I found this post of his, linked from MMO-Champion.com and originally posted on Team Liquid:

http://www.teamliqui...rentpage=12#225

Turns out this awesomely amusing Brit is going through rough times with USCIS. He's had troubles with AOS, something I totally sympathize with. I left a comment through his website to mention visajourney.com in the hopes that he'll find some info/support here. God knows what a nightmare this process can be, and if you read the link I provided a few lines up, you'll read what he's been through.

I'm not an avid listener of his stuff (though I certainly do enjoy!) but I thought this worth mentioning here as it's immigration AND WoW-related.

/salute The Cynical Brit.

Here's hoping he can get his AOS taken care of soon so that he can be with his family.

Oh wow.....I loved watching his beta cata videos.

@Rob...yes this is 10 man...I kinda figured the problem is with the stuns and slows, I tried suggesting that we allocate the stuns and slows to 2/3 members to manage but ppl still have the mentality of 'throw everything at it', we don't have a disc priest but I will put forth the rogue tip.

@Kimbear yes the lock has the teleport trick down, our dps is strong so there is no reason why we shouldn't be burning them down. It seems to be a problem with our stun rotation I guess...I'll have a proper chat with the raid leader before our next encounter, see if it can be better 'organised'.

Thanks guys!

Almost 5pm...I'm excited!

Too true...I was actually running with new minimum requirements they suggested after the patch and I would not have been happy going into the expansion like that.

Graphic settings were reset with 4.0.1. When you're at the game login screen, look to the bottom-right corner for "Options" and tweak the video settings low, and then slowly increase when in game. The client may have "decided" that your system should be running on higher settings than its capable of - this happened with my own client.

Thanks for this

I heard that QuestHelper is really good at telling you what quests are left in the zone to complete, though I've never used it myself. My Lorekeeper experience was done mostly through being completionist during leveling, and a lot of google searching :P

I remember those days...I've had Carbonite now for 2 years and sad to say I don't think I could ( or rather would not want to) function without it.

You did absolutely nothing wrong whatsoever. You did not ask for the ring. You did not bribe or pay for the ring. Those who /gquitted... top raiders? More like top nerdraging babies. The only person whom you should be concerned with - if anything - is the GM/RL and that is only if the GM/RL (whichever and/or both) had specific rules mentioning "no giving items away after you won a roll" or something similar. While I sincerely hope that your guild will manage without those 6 individuals and though I certainly don't know your guild's composition, goals, environment or politics, I believe that your guild will be better of without those 6.

After all, those 6 may have been some sort of cliquish, problematic group making trouble before you returned. Don't fell bad; just talk things out with the GM if you feel like you need to set something straight.

Just my two copper.

Thank you for that  I did speak to the wife of the guy that got his knickers in a twist over the ring thing and she did say that it was just the thing that tipped stuff that had been going on in the back ground for a while. As I said I had been out of the loop for a while and I guess I missed the whole under current between the 'new' and the 'old' in the guild...I figure I got caught in the cross fire somewhere  But, we will just pick up from where we were a few months ago, we are pretty tight as a guild having grown together as a casual lvling guild to one that really wants to move on, and I think it is hard for new people to come in sometimes..if you that makes sense. GM is pretty gutted to have lost them, but he has always been a fair guy and didn't see the problem about the ring exchange...but i think it was used as a reason to move on, which is fair enough...I still hate the whole waiting for me to log on to g/quit though, that sucked :hehe:

As for vent.....I have had good and bad experiences. My Hordie guild was pretty much a nightmare at times, there weren't many females in the guild, maybe 3, they were fun guys but I always hoped the 'novelty' of a female in vent, let alone one with a weird accent, would wear off, but it really didn't. I had to stop when one of them made a comment that he was doing a certain act while I talked on vent and my husband happened to walk by and catch it, wasn't best pleased...I know it was just a joke, but it kind of wore thin after a while.
I'm pretty much an introvert irl and it took me a while to get back onto vent with my current guild, but they are on the whole more mature and lots of couples so I quite enjoy the social interaction. It is nice not feeling like I have intercepted a boy's club

So I inadvertently caused a huge guild ruckus at the weekend.

Having spent almost 3 months out of the game while in England the guild progressed well, lots of new members and regular ICC's etc...I am by this time woefully geared and need to catch up, so I start going along. Signet of Putrefaction drops, I miss the roll...that's my fault my bad, but the guy who won the roll gave the ring to me as they were all rolling for off specs.

I was unable to attend the second part the following evening and all holy hell broke out in the middle of the raid over this ring and it being given to me. The guy who gave me the ring sent me a chat in FB to tell me what had gone on, so I quickly log in as I know I should have time to still trade the ring if need be to calm things down (although the guildie insisted I need not do that at all) As soon as I say 'Hi' 6 of our top raiders start g/quiting....way to make a point...I felt totally shitty and humiliated. I don't really know them as they were 'new' to me but I know that they are RL friends so I'm not surprised that they stood by the person who was pissed off about this ring. I havent logged back on yet so haven't spoken to the GM about it, so don't know how he handled it, but I'm guessing not to their satisfaction

God I hate guild dramas!

sigh..so like taking a raiding break for the last month was nice...but ..i just found out all my chars were gkicked, every single 80. looks like my icc chars are homeless. sigh. time to go play on the beta..cuz i dont feel like logging in now. :(

That's bummer! I've had a 3 month raiding break while I've been home in England...but in the past month I hijacked my dad's computer and downlaoded WoW, I've been doing all my rep achievements....I'll be glad never to see a piece of runecloth again.
Flying back next sunday, looking forward to participating again

I decided to make the big leap and quit FFXI Online and started playing WoW with the boyfriend. I am extremely impressed how flexible the game is - I am not used to being able to do anything on an online game without needed 3-6 people, and spending 2+ hours getting one thing accomplished.
~All on The Scryers

I think that's what I like about WoW so much...sometimes I don't feel like questing or leveling so I can spend some time on my professions and make gold or just goof about about helping lower level guildies, there are many aspects to the game that have kept me interested for 3 years now.

I have just picked up my 74 Alliance priest again after playing Horde for that past 6 months, I transferred to Argent Dawn yesterday so I could play along side my 13 yr old...methinks he wants me around for my gold making skills more than anything else wink.gif but I shall teach him my ways tongue.gif

I think there was some discussion about wow in off topic about wow, didn't know they actually had a group though.

We had a guild set up last year <NoA> but it was hard to get together I think for a lot of the time...I believe a few made it to 70 with their toons though, I was playing from England at the time so the time difference was a problem for me...it was fun though for a while laughing.gif

Even addons from Curse have had issues with keyloggers unfortunately. If any of you guys can, I recommend getting an authenticator. Its a bit of a pain to have to have it every time you want to play but no one will be able to get into your account even if they know your password, unless they have your authenticator. They even have an addon for the iPhone that does it.

I have always been paranoid about addons so never used them, but I did manage to finally get an authenticator last month so I downloaded Carbonite, and I must admit I do love it, I will probably get some kind of healing addon...undecided on which one yet though.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionA little confused...

Why even worry about the lifting of conditions when you haven't even gotten married yet?

did you even read my original post?

If it is at the time of interview we may as well put the wedding back but if it is on entry then we would rather go ahead with the July wedding so we will have reached the 2 year mark.....

that's why I am thinking ahead....
