K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurespolice check

I heard that you have to go to the police station in every area that you have ever lived in, is this true. I have stayed in 4 different areas since I was 16, do I need to get a record from every force or is there a centralised department that deals with it.

No you just need to list every address you have lived at on the one form

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresusing the system

Hey All,

I have a concern that I don't see mentioned too often on here, but I'm hoping several will have an opinion about...

I am in love with my girlfriend, however she is not a US citizen and does NOT have a VWP. I have luckily been able to visit her every three months and we talk on the phone everyday, however I just started a new job and am not going to be able to take vacation time as freely.

I would like to pay for her to come visit me in the US, however we are not yet ready to get married. I would first like to see her spend time here, see how well her english improves, if she can get a job, if she's truly happy with me while away from her family, etc. before I REALLY pop the question. She is willing to move here to see if it works and I am able to support her. If things end up not working out (no matter how bad they get), I would see to it that she is taken care of or has arrangements to get home or whatever... (basically, I'm saying I'm a decent guy, I wouldn't leave her stranded in a foreign country after she moved here for me).

We're both willing to go through the hoops necessary to "marry", just for the sake of the paperwork, but I'm wondering what you all think about that... has anyone gone through with their marriage just to get their loved one over here? any thoughts on the risks? general comments?

Thanks

When you are ready to get married you will know it and then like everyone else on here you go thro the process with confidence. I am afraid there is no 'road testing' time available in this process....you say you are serious and want to be together, then you know what you have to do....no one can tell you everything will be wonderful and work out .... as with any kind of marriage, you have to know in your heart that it is the right thing to do. Lots of ppl here have had to take a leap of faith as regards to settling in a new country, dealing with a new language, work etc....it isn't easy but having a supportive spouse is important.

Good luck in all your decisions

well if he doesn't have any kind of parental resposibilty, which by the sound of it he doesn't, from the research I did no permission is needed or required...I rang the child abduction unit in the uk some months ago and they confirmed this...

I have a 10 yr old from a man I never married although his name IS on the birth certificate he does not have automatic PR (but this has changed now from what I can remember...)

But please do you own research to be certain in your own mind....I am happy that I know I do not need his permission to take my child out of the country....Good Luck....

I know when my husband got his decree there was a waiting period of 6 weeks before he could get married again, but our lawyer did say that he could request to the judge to waive the waiting period...but I figure that is something the OP should have looked into before the decree was issued?

And even though we must endure the separation (and the lack of enthusiasm-or outright disapproval of the relationship), it is worth it in the end because we have that REAL, DEEP, ENDURING, TRUE LOVE. wub.gif

You know, separation and LDR's - they're very romantic. Full of longing and the like.

Back when my husband and I were separated, and even more strongly now, I believe the distance we had from each other and the fact we survived it long enough to get across oceans and to the alter isn't the true test of us. The true test is if we can put all that together and bring it forward.

Once you are together, at some point the lonely nights and days melt away. The dream is fulfilled and reality begins. The long distance is gone. Now everything you said to each other is in the past and the actions of today are real life.

It takes more courage to put your money where your mouth was than it takes to articulate those feelings, goals and dreams while apart. Words are just words - life is what you must build.

The true test of what you will be together is what you are separately as people. What is in your individual characters and hearts.

Best post ever RJ good.gif

I feel somewhat miffed at reading that somehow LDR's are considered 'more enduring' real' or 'deep' than relationships that haven't experienced separation. Believe me, living day in, day out with one another is the true test of enduring love good.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPosting Safety at VisaJourney

Why are people "afraid" to ask questions? I just don't get that. This is an anonymous forum. What do you care if someone attacks you for asking a stupid question? Chances are, at least one person will respond with a good answer. So ignore the "arrogant veterans" and get your info.

I guess the answer to that is ppl don't know they are asking stupid questions. I had never been on a forum before and was googling visa stuff and eventually found myself here. Actually I followed a link from another immigration site to here but found myself going back to that site for the answer I posted here....and yes it was simple and a simple answer would have nice from here :P

As for the filling in of the rest of the form, I researched myself.

Take what you need and discard the rest rather than keep posting to the board.

good.gif

You chose to bring the religious aspect into this thread, your terminology is confusing to non religious people or those of a different faith, so immediately it became a confusing post, I personally didn't see any aggression from people here apart from yourself. You got some very good responses, you are perceiving attacks that are not there.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting period for 1st RFE
:goofy: Ours was nearly two months (you can see our timeline below). We seemed to be one of the slow ones though as people that had sent their I-129s the same time we did ours got approved within 4-6 weeks and got forwarded on. I was absolutely panicked wondering what was going on with ours, and then devastated when we actually got the RFE. (We did not get an email notice about the RFE like some people do, it just came in the mail one day). Good luck. :goofy:

I think the instructions say that you must have met in the last two years or must explain why that isn't possible. Sounds like she has a pretty good explanation.

goofy.gif Well, that's if what she says is right about the US only allowing people to go to Cuba once every three years. I thought I saw somewhere on this site that someone referenced someone else saying that but it wasn't true, and I was just wondering if it was or not. goofy.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 for Cubans/How Long?
goofy.gif Hello. I am a 4+ year VJ veteran already married myself and hubby waiting on his 10 year GC, but I recently got a new job and my sweet 26-year-old co-worker is going through the K1 process with her Cuban fiance'. She has limited access to the Internet (thus VJ), and I thought I would help her out with some questions, so please, those of you going through the K1 process with a Cuban fiance', please help me/her out.

My co-worker came over to the US via the lottery with her family 8 years ago and is now an American citizen. She knew her fiance' from childhood. Since going back and visiting Cuba, she and he have decided they are in love and they have started the K1 process. I am really worried for her though as she told me she has not seen him in THREE YEARS. They sent their application in mid-late April, he has had his medical (awaiting results), and he has an interview scheduled for October. If they were going to get an RFE for not seeing each other in the last two years wouldn't they have gotten it by now? She said she saw him in June of 2005 and the US won't allow people to visit Cuba except once every three years. Is this right? She honestly feels this way or she would have seen him before. She is going in August for a two week visit. She wrote a long letter stating why they haven't seen each other (US laws) and explained they knew each other during childhood, etc. As I have said, so far no RFE. I didn't want to let on that I was worried for them.

So, she is thinking it will only take him a month once he gets approved at his interview (in October) and gets his Visa before whatever government paperwork is doen in order for him to leave. Is that right? She is so excited and has been waiting a long time and I really would hate this to be wrong. I thought I would check with you fellow VJers and see what the real deal is on travel restrictions to Cuba and how long the K1 visa really takes (or at least from the interview and K1 approval until he can come to the U.S. Thanks! goofy.gif

Hi well my husband is having his interview june 23 at the jerusalem consulate in Israel. His name is Mohammed. Do you think this will be a problem, i believe its a common name?? Is this always a problem?????? I dont think israel has a high faud rate or anything like that, i havent seen cases. I went on the jerusalem consulate website and it says.... if everything is approved by law, the visa will be issued but if they have missing documents, they need to submit those documents for the case to be complete and visa to be issued. It has never stated anyhting about additional security or name checks, just that everything has to be approved by law. Maybe i just find something new to be paranoid about each day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

do u think they say such things on the embassy website ? NO they dont ..
every case is totally different really , i even started to doubt that wht the CO ate on her/his breakfast effect the decision , many factors play here , and name is one of them , and if u go a head to look to all and embassies u will find they dnt state this ...but if u wana get true information ..then got to REVIEWS :EMBASSY/USCIS.POE above
then choose ur embassy from the list and read the ppl reviews ..it can be a good indicator for wht may happen there
Good Luck

HI, the best thing for all of us to do is to have faith in god and ask him for our help. Inshallah everything goes well for all of us, i read israel reviews, there was not a single bad one, but there wernt that many reviews. I wish all of us an end to this journey soon!
