Why would you need to have a transcript from Jamaica translated? It's already in English!

Go with the US passport, that's what I did for my son.



the transcript is already in English however the school systems are different and colleges doesn't know the equivalence for a CXC or GCE from Jamaica. My HSD from Jamaica was fine but my subjects didn't mean a thing to them.

Another thing, when applying to schools or for jobs and you have to list your schools, they NEVER have places to put stuff like that in.

last week i received text and email from uscis for being placed in line scheduling for interview.
My question is, do they send you text and email when they schedule your interview and when they send you letter in mail for interview ?
and usually how long does it actually takes to get interview letter after in line ?

I arrived on time this morning (8am) and sat in the waiting room for 2 1/2 hours before we were moved to a different room due to renovation in the building.

I almost had my name changed to Diesel Hulk by the lady at the desk who like the DMV worker told me to sign the paper attached to the back of my certificate. Had I not gone through what I did with DMV I probably wouldn't have read the paper saying that I petitioned to change my name. Diesel Hulk did step forward but his SO was not impressed with the change since she loudly objected to being Mrs. Hulk and said her brother told her to name her daughter Incredilene Hulk if they have one. So Mr. Hulk changed his name to Zeeb (not sure if that was his new first or last name.

All in all, it was great!!!

I do take it serious. I felt like i was hanging in the balance, suspended mid-air if you will. You hit the nail on the head.

You're welcome. I can relate... especially right now, being back in the "old country".. I identify with so much here, even my speech has changed in the last week. Back to, "Franglais" (Mix of English and French). It's a part of who I am. Yet, in some ways I feel out of place here. I'm missing my home near Atlanta. It's like I'm 2 different people in a way... and soon I'm going to "marry" my new country, the United States. Make it official... make it truly permanent. So yeah, I get it. It's a new start, new identity in a way, and yup, a little bit like getting married. You've been through the motions, the interview, all the hard stuff is behind you, but until you actually take that oath, you aren't "quite" American yet. That Oath makes it all official - like a marriage certificate!

So yep, jitters are perfectly acceptable, in my book. Doesn't mean you have second thoughts or cold feet... just means you are taking it seriously. I respect that.

Kerran - the hard parts are behind you, but it's understandable to be nervous - it sort of starts a new chapter in your life, right? :) All the best tomorrow.

MayLiana, yes, you're right. I was given a sheet at a seminar on citizenship with all the current names for my area. That's at home (not with me now). I'll check it against current information to make sure that the ones I know remain current - I think they do, at least for the most part.

Coloso, Canadian Christmas is very similar to American Christmas... but being from Quebec I have some regional traditions, that I've brought to the US and shared with my American friends and family. I did some cooking today (not usually my strong domain...) but I made a traditional dish for Mom and she enjoyed it. We always have it on Christmas Eve.. and we will this year, but I made some extra so we had it tonight too. Got to make sure that the "quality control" is right so we tested it out tonight, and there's more for Christmas Eve :D

We'll probably have Christmas turkey early though. I leave here the day after Christmas (Boxing Day to us and in the UK), and my sister arrives that day. She's vegetarian so Mom doesn't want to have a pile of leftover turkey here, because we know Sis won't eat it! I think she wants that on Saturday or Sunday - so I'll take care of that and we'll fill our faces appropriately. Mom hasn't had much of an appetite but my preparing our traditional Tourtiere encouraged her to eat a bit more tonight.

Other than those things it's a pretty low-key Christmas here, since Mom is still not quite feeling good yet.

I am flying back to Canada tomorrow for 2 weeks to take care of my Mom who had a medical setback. I was there in November too. I printed copies of my itineraries for my USCIS file to bring with me so I can tell the Officer of my travels. Total 24 days, so I'm good there - I am not even close to any excess.

Guess I'll bring my flash cards with me so Mom can help me study!!! :dance:

The letter will arrive after I leave, of course, but I'll have my better half keep an eye open for it and let me know the date as soon as it arrives. w00t!

Thanks, yep, still waiting. Not much else I can do, so it seems.

I see that USCIS updated their processing times today. Now Atlanta is at 5.5 months. National Average is 5.1 months. Goal is still 5 months.

So in another week I'll be right at 5.5 months...

I finally got an email today that they sent out my oath letter. Last Thursday they said they sent me an RFE. I'm not sure if you all remember, I had my interview 10/15 and my case was sent to Panel because I had registered to vote. I submitted all the evidence to the office that same day. I'm elated right now.

Hi Kerran, a friend of mine also registered to vote and has selected no the question on the N-400 application and later found out and cancelled the registration. He has received a scheduled for interview update. What is your advise for that matter? Thank you.

So I went and got myself removed from the voters list and they gave me a letter explaining why I was registered, in case they don't believe me.

I remember someone saying that their son got a voters registration card in the mail, if your son is not yet a citizen then you need to have him removed because one can be deported for it. It's rather serious.

It varies. I was placed in line on 07/10 and was scheduled until 09/07... Almost two months! You just have to be patient. If the message to call after 30 days then you can, if not, you have to wait. Waiting sux, I know...

I received an email/SMS last August 31, 2012 that I'm in line for interview and should receive the interview letter. Today is 09/20/2012 and no physical interview letter yet. I noticed on the timelines of most members here that they get the letter in a week after a notice. Should I be bothered? Anyone with similar case? LoL. Just can't wait to get this over with.

Started a reply and my power went out... grrr. Yeah, I'm a bit nervous about that but if November rolls around I'll try booking an Infopass. That gives another month or so wiggle room. Not panic time yet.

Well, this is new. Checked my status online this morning. Previously, it said that as of July 30th I was in line for interview scheduling, and if I didn't receive a notice within 30 days to call. I did call after the 30 days (haven't had a call back yet).

Today, it's the same message EXCEPT it say if I haven't received a notice within 90 days. NINETY days! ACK! So that puts me at the end of October, maybe, at best. :(

I called 50 days after my fp and was told they will send an email to USCIS and to allow 14 days, that was on 09/01 and I was scheduled on 09/07. Per the receipt you have, it tells you to call if you haven't heard anything in 30 days.
