CanadaVisa in Hand.
I have my Visa!!! I'm in YVR right now waiting for my plane to board.

I will write a full review later! Here are some quick thoughts

My Doctor neglected to check a couple boxes and it took them a long time to get ahold of them in order to get the proper paper work.

They told me and the others there we needed to have Tax returns for all Affidavit of Supports, not just self-employed. Although I'm sure we know more about the process than she did. haha.

Once you go through security no washrooms.

Bringing Fiancee a plus. Only asked me around 3 questions!!!

Review to come.

Thanks for your thoughts!

CanadaQuestion about Packet 4 - Vancouver
It also lists what things are not permitted in the building (phones, bags, computers, etc, etc.)
It also gives the correct address 1075 West Pender I THINK, If memory serves. It is much easier to find the office with the Number :)

CONGRATS!

:)

I'm at my hotel 1 mile from the embassy right now nervous for my interview tomorrow!!!
Did you have the wait in line or was the lady at night wrong?

CanadaTransfer requests
I wasn't required to give an address out west, you may need to either :) You may just want to ask for a Transfer! THAN if they ask why, etc tell them all that!

I stressed myself totally out about the whole transfer, address thing
and it was SO easy
maybe the lady on the phone was in a really good mood though.. hehe

CanadaVancouver Waiting Room...

I'm still waiting on Packet 3. Apparently NVC sent to Van. sometime between like.. the 9th and 14th?
I don't want to bother them to find out :P
I did shoot off an email to Vancouver though to see if they had recieved it yet. Haven't heard anything so far.
I'm hoping to land an interview before the end of the year, but I don't know how realistic that is.

I'd recommend calling and emailing - it seemed to do the trick for me when I knew that NVC had sent through my petition. In a twisted way I think they may show you some more love if you harass them!

I FULLY Agree... persistance is key :) You're more likely to get results...

I'm in too. Faxed in my Packet 3 Checklist yesterday. I actually went to the Consulate to pick up my package rather than have it snail mailed to me - hoping that shaved some time off!

probably saved about a week :)
Good call!
keep us updated.

No I should have though, I didn't realize that would have been a good idea, so I was done, but held on to it... I can send it to Vancouver ASAP though.. I'm going to ask when I call tomorrow!

It might end up being quicker for you this way anyway. From my understanding(someone correct me if I'm wrong), you can fax the checklist/DS-230 to Vancouver, so when you call you could ask if you can do this.

Yeah, Vancouver (when I called today at time and number you advised) they said I could fax it in to them... Is this the fax number I want to use "604-685-7175"
Thanks!

Yup, that's the one! :) I have a copy of the OF-167 form if you need it, it's the one form that Vancouver has that Montreal doesn't. They emailed it to me today, and I've posted it in the Foreign Embassy section of the board, here.

PERFECT! Thanks AGAIN!

You're very welcome :) I remember how anxious I felt when I was in that in between zone, not knowing if my case was there or lost or what. I don't know if they'll be able to schedule you an appointment until they get the hard copy of your case, but you can call and request a date before that and they can make a note of it. They mailed me my appointment letter a week after my transfer request. Did you send Montreal packet 3 back? If so, you'll probably be scheduled an appointment right away too.

CanadaVancouver Waiting Room...

I did this and didn't get a response to any of my emails(I emailed every day starting a couple days after the transfer) until 8 days after I requested the transfer, but on the plus side the email had my interview date. However, I recommend calling them(be prepared to wait though); the nice guy I talked to a couple times told me that Montreal transfers the case electronically and also by mail, so they will have you in their computer system pretty much right away. The phone number is (604)685-4311 x235 and you can call between 2-4pm Vancouver time. Good luck!

THANK YOU!!!! You have NO IDEA how much that helps, I've been trying to get that information .. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! You have given me hope!!! :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F approval expiration date.

What Does the experation date on an I-129F really mean?

It means that you need to have the visa issued prior to that date. If in the event that the consulate is slow and cannot issue such visa in that time frame an extention of time of 4mos can be approved. It is not an automatic item and if you find yourself approaching that date then you should request such an extension. A sample request form is located in the sample forms section

Thank you, 2 rather different answers!

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusTravel to and from Russia
I am a Ukrainian citizen, and married an U.S. Citizen. Right now, I am in the process of adjusting my status, and me and my husband thought it was a good time to travel to Kiev to visit my family. (I used my travel permit). Travel permit was in my married name, and passport - in maiden. I HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT!

My recommendations:

Book the ticket in the name your wife's passport is in! (Because in the U.S. you will have no problem with a certified marriage license, but in Russia they might not accept this document as a proof of a name change.)

When the tickets are in the maiden name, the only time your wife will need the marriage certificate is when she will be coming back to the U.S. at the passport control.

So no worries, she will be ok!

Another thing I would recommend though, which I did myself as well:

Once she is at home, dedicate some time to making the marriage certificate official in Russia. It was not hard to do at all for me. I went to a company that does translations and gave them my marriage certificate. For about 20 dollars person that is licensed to make translations, translated the document into Ukrainian and then for additional 10 dollars they notarized my translation with a local notary. I then took the notarized translation into my passport office and they had no problem accepting it - I got a stamp in my Ukrainian passport that I am married and got a new passport issued under my married name.

Good luck!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhat's with the biometrics
QUOTE (Kathryn41 @ Feb 3 2009, 10:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
They don't keep biometrics on file for longer than 15 months so with every new application you need to refile biometrics so they match the right person to the file. If each file takes longer than 15 months to process, then you even have to redo biometrics. It is more to ensure the identity of the person seeking that particular phase of immigration benefits rather than thinking your fingerprints and photos have changed. They will use the photo they take of you on your ten year card so they definitely need to redo those. I agree though, it does seem really redundant.

Huh. well. Do you suppose if i filed for removal of conditions EARLIER say, 15 months in, they could just nix the biometrics and the 80 fee?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionWhat's with the biometrics
Why more biometrics? I noticed the extra 80 bucks for biometrics to remove conditions, but hell, my face bones don't change and neither do my fingerprints. Both of which they already have. I know I'm premature on this, but mostly I'm just really curious.

Thanks guys.
