K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 visa in Guam: I am at the begining. I want to get started right
Sorry I didn't make that clear. We met in Palau where she works. She will be going back home soon.
Thanks, and that is great to here that Guam is treated like another state. I was starting to worry because I could not find any guidance on how to file if you are residing in Guam. If anyone has a link or info on the process that would be great!
Thanks everyone, I wish you all the very best in all that you do.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 visa in Guam: I am at the begining. I want to get started right
Hi everyone,

I found this board the other day it is just chock full of info. This board is a dream come true for those of us that need the help.

OK..to the point. My girlfriend and I are talking about the up and coming process and I have a question that will effect our decision on when to get married. I am currently station in Guam in the military and met my girlfriend when we visited a port. Love at first sight you can say. Anyway we have been writing, talking and have plans on being together forever. My question is, that since I am station in Guam can I still apply for a K1 Visa and marry my fiancé in Guam and then apply for AOS just like if I was in the States. Like I said earlier this would effect when we would we get married.

Thanks in advance for any help.

What's up Travis. Gotta work tomorrow, so staying home on a Friday night,(sad). Anyway, organize all your stuff(papers) in the correct order. Then on the top use a two hole punch and make HOLES in all the papers. Use ASCO clips ( I think that's the correct name) It's the type of holders, clips, that come in two pieces. The part you put through the holes looks like a big letter U. The second piece is a flat piece of metal with sliders on it. Put the "U" part through the papers the bend over the excess and secure it with the flat piece. I put all the papers, secured this way, in a big brown envelope and that was it.

The address does not look familiar, I Could be wrong though.

Make sure you send some pictures and supporting evidence. You in the Service? I used to be ARMY.

Thans Kino...Yes I am in the US Coast Guard. I will double check the address. Thanks again for the help.

Hello All,

I am so excited to just get the process started so Michelle and I can be together as soon as possible. I understand we still have a long way to go but it is nice to just start the process.
I know my questions are going to sound rudimentary to some so please bear with me. I am station on the island of Guam and was planning on send my package via USPS Delivery Conf and Return Receipt. My question is should I place all the paper work in nice folder or just leave it lose in the envelope. What did you do?
Also, I just wanted to make sure I was sending it to the right address. Here is the one I got off the USCIS Center website. Is this the right one?

Thanks to all of you for the help and support. Whish Michelle and I lots of luck and pray for a smooth process.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMlitary Expedite Request
All,

Due to the slow down in processing of petitions because of the influx of application being received by the service centers. I had to request a Military Expedite with the hope that we can get approved before I deploy. With all this being said, has anyone ever made such a request? If so what was the results? The slow down in processing and my deployment schedule has made this even tougher than before. Thanks in advance for info.

PDS! Personnal data [disclosure] sheet. Or something like that. Ask for medical history. Also asks the petioners address and some other info. Ask POE also.
If she knows everything about you no worrys.
My wife took her CP in with her and did call me for POE will filling it out.

Thanks for the replies.

I should've been a little more specific - I'll be posting to Germany (overseas) and may or may not be deploying from there. If I delay the process but don't have the embassy extend my petition, will I have to restart the process? Thanks again.

I had to expedite my I-129f due to deployment and it moved very quickly...I have gone from waiting on Oct 25 to now we have our interview on Jan 3rd which is perfect for our schedule. All I did was write a letter to CSC telling them my situtions faxed to them and they took care of it from there.

Good luck TJ

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMy petition is moving really fast
Hello everyone,

Michelle and I are doing great. As some of you may or may not know I sent in letter to expedite due to my up and coming military deployments. I fax the letter over to the CSC on 16 Oct 2007. After that the flood gates open. My petition was approved by the CSC then sent to NVC. It left the NVC and was received by the Embassy in Manila on Nov 6th. My only question is can it really move that fast? I am glad it has but I guest I been waiting and waiting that it just seems fast. I did confirm all of this when I called the NVC and the Embassy in Manila. What do you all think? I hope this might be a indication of the process seeding up for all of us.

Take care TJ

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs this possible???
Daniel and Parul,

This is possible...it was the same for my expedite request. I sent it in and called the CSC about it a few days later and they said they did not have and I would have to call the NVC. I called the NVC and they said they have already sent it to Manila and I would have to call the Embassy in Manila so I called the Embassy and they said yes we had it for about a week and told me to call back in two weeks to get my interview date. To me this all seem to move very fast if you read some of my earlier post you will see were I was kind of shocked...happy but shocked! The only thing that NVC did for me that they have not done for you was provide me with a case number. What I did was give them my petition number WAC*****, beneficiary full name, DOB and they looked up petition or me. Told me what I stated earlier in the post and gave me the case number(MNL******) and I used that when I called the Embassy to check the visa’s status.

Hope this story helps you,

Good Luck Michelle and Travis

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI want to start K-visa process, but dont want to marry in USA
i think weddings are three parts in nigeria, the traditonal, church and the court wedding. why dont you try te traditional wedding with the court wedding and apply for a k1, that way when you come to the us you will have the church wedding, anyway you wont lose.

Same here it was approved on 10/25/07. I just spent three hours to get in touch with them on the phone and they said they have not got it.this sucks because if they were in love as much as we are it seems that they would speed this up.Still hoping for a quick visa but i know that will not happen.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSorry, just venting
I feel the need to vent as well. It is very frustrating. We filed at the end of April with TSC and were transferred to CSC. We have three children (a four year old and twin nine year olds - one of which is autistic). I lived in Ireland with my fiance until December at which time my father was diagnosed with liver disease. I did not know how long he had, so we made a decision that it was time to go home. We wanted to do all the paperwork while living in Ireland as a family, but plans change... I wish I could be humble, but I am the one that has to drop my fiance at the airport and listen to the children cry. It is not right. Where is the equality? I cannot even look to the light at the end of the tunnel because I haven't a clue how bloody long the tunnel is.

Thanks. What is funny (sort-of anyway) is I got all worked up and called my congressman, made an appointment to see his secretary tomorrow at 10 am, and I start the "and I am going to tell them this and that..." Then I get an approval today. I was all geared up for a good complaining session.

I should have called the congressman ages ago - he didn't even have to do anything.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFinally...
After several months of waiting and a few minor emotional breakdowns, as of Sept 11 (according to the update online) we are approved. We are so happy. Of course, we know there is yet more waiting and frustration as it has to go through the next set of flaming hoops of despair, but one step at a time. Yippee.

Anyone know how long it takes it to go through the NVC? Do you continue to check on the USCIS website for updates on this?

Thanks, y'all.

You will only need a copy for the VISA. However, I wouldn't hurt to make sure that she already has a copy and that it is accurate. I would also make sure that she has a valid passport as this may take a while to get.

My fiancee had problems with her Birth Certificate and we are having to pay an attorney to get this fixed in court before she can even get a passport.

I hope this helps.

Middle East and North Africamedical exam expiry date....

hey everyone :)

i was checking the paper they gave me with medical exam results, to show at POE, other than the closed envelope i give to the embassy at interview, anyway i had the medical on January, so from what i know, the medical expires after 6 months from the date it was conducted, but on the top right side of the paper i give at the POE, i noticed that it had expiration date of 31st of march.... how can that be? do i need to get a full new medical exam for POE? and also i read somewhere on visa journey that some people are asked for the X-ray at POE, do i need to get a new one too? since i think the embassy keeps it? Thanks for your help! :)

Hi, Once you have your visa and envelope to enter the US, the medical exam expiration is of no concern. The x ray is given to you for your benefit to keep for your records. Normally it is not given up at the POE.

Middle East and North AfricaIM SOOOOOOOOOOOOO SAD
I can understand your worries. You are leaving everything you know to a land unknown. Just know that it will take time to get adjusted, find work, and friends. My husband has been here 4 years now. It will be tough the first year. When Hachemi first got here he was shy and quiet. Hachemi could speak English, although not perfectly. When someone spoke to him, he looked at me like I needed to explain to him what was said. Now four years later, I cant get him to shut up. LOL. He has so many friends now. He learned to drive and now he goes everywhere by himself without me having to worry about him. He went to college, and earned a 2nd degree. If you are worried about being an Arab man married an American women, please dont. It has not been a problem for us. Here in the US there are so many diverse people, races and religions and many mixed marriages among these.
When you get here, dont just sit around and do nothing. Find a good computer English program. Hachemi stayed up many nights studying the English language. We live in a very rural area, so we did not have access to English as a second language courses. Maybe you will be lucky to live in an area that provide these services. He talked to his family every week on skype with webcam for hours. That really helped him not be so homesick. I hope you live near a Mosque so that you can meet people. At the time Hachemi came to the USA, the closest Mosque was a hour drive. Now they have opened a new Mosque about 30 minutes drive. He met an Algerian man, and about 7 or 8 men from Morrocco. They play soccer every Sunday and Hachemi has had a good time hanging out with them. As soon as you start working, try to put back a little money every paycheck in a savings account for a trip back home. It's very expensive to go home. Hachemi wouldnt go back home until we had enough money for both of us to go, so it took a little longer for us to save. (Four years exactly) We are going for the month of November, Inshaallah. Hachemi is so excited about seeing his family.
Congratulations on your approval. I hope you have a nice trip to the US and a wonderful reunion with your love.

Congratulations Samira, on your new little bundle of joy!
Hi everybody. I too have not been around for a while. Just wanted to check in and give a quick update. Hachemi and I celebrated our very happy 5th anniversary this past Sept. He did get his citizenship this year and just started a new job with Toyota Manufacturing. It is a huge new plant that will make Corollas. They had 43,000 applications for 1500 positions. We are so thankful that he is one of them. They have wonderful benefits and so happy to have great insurance now. We lived about 45 minutes from the plant so we put our house up for sale and bought another house closer to the plant in Tupelo MS, (the birthplace of Elvis) LOL. We have been in the new house since Sunday and slowly getting everything in order.
I hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving weekend!

Middle East and North AfricaHubby getting a job in USA
The week after Hachemi got his work authorization he went to a local boat manufacturing plant and applied for a job. The boss came to the lobby and took him for a tour of the plant. He was gone about 20 minutes and he came back smiling cause they had hired him. He worked there for a year until he decided to go back to college. So he put his notice in and started classes. At night while studying, he would go down to the convenience store near the house and get coffee. They asked him if he needed a job and he told them that he could work around his classes, so they hired him. This was the only convenience store in town not owned by Arabs. LOL. He worked there for 3 yrs. He was asked hundreds of times if he was the owner and he would say no and nobody believed him. A Toyota manufacturing plant was built close to us so he applied along with 43,000 other people for 1200 jobs. It was a very rigorous application process. The did 2 computer assessment test, a physical assessment test, Background check, drug check, Interview and medical evaluation. One day I was outside grilling and I heard the phone ring and he started yelling. I ran in and he said it was Toyota and that he had been hired. He has been there 3 months and he loves it. He comes in everyday talking about what a good day he had. Thank God we finally have wonderful insurance that is no cost to him and my insurance is about 18 dollars a month.

Middle East and North AfricaThe little things your husband/wife does
There are many, but I will list a few.....
Hachemi will come home on his 30 minute lunch break, just to get a kiss. Then go straight back to work.
He saved his extra money for 4 months to buy a laptop computer for me.
I still have trouble with my neck and back after our bad wreck last year, and when we where in Books a Million, he bought a book on therapeutic massage. He gives a really good massage now.
I will be in the bedroom, and Hachemi in the den. I get a text message from him. "Love U"
