I agree. It is useful to know how your field office is doing and how long are the averages processing times. BTW, my field is the Miami office.

Sorry to say but Miami is a very slow office. People who filed in August are still waiting for the interview. I field in Sept and still waiting.

Please add the field office as in future anyone coming to this website will know roughly how long it took for that field office in the past. As most of the processing time depends on your field office

Congrats CookiesnCream

My online status says as Scheduled on April 17th and since I haven't received any interview letter, I called USCIS to see if I can get any additional information.

Agent mentioned that the local office has mailed it to me on April 17th and they don't have access to additional information regarding the interview date/location. My local office would be Dallas and it would take 2 to 3 business days normally. Today would be the 5th business day. Hopefully USPS did not mess it up. In this thread and at other related threads, most of them received the interview letter in a day or two after the status has changed.

Does anyone faced the same amount of time?

Thanks

Don't worry it might take little longer. Also the interview will be a minimum of 30 days from April 17th. They never schedule interview with very short notice unlike the oath or fingerprinting.

What if BOTH 1 & 2 apply?

To use this form you must be ONE of the following:
1. A lawful permanent resident for at least five years and at
least 18 years old; or
2. A lawful permanent resident for at least three years and at
least 18 years old;
AND
You have been married to and living with the same U.S. citizen for the last three years;
AND
Your spouse has been a U.S. citizen for the last three years.

Thanks again!

You can pick whichever you want. With 1 it is less paperwork that you need to send. Just the copy of green card. But with option 2 you need to send a whole lot of documentation

can I bring my kids inside? my husbands appointment is 2pm, mine is 3pm... how long will I have to wait before my time?

Yes you can bring your kids. No Issues. I even took my kid to the interview. You both can try to get in at 2 PM or at 3 PM together. The wait depends on your local office. In my local office there were 2 person in front of me when I went. It was a 5 mins wait for me.

supposed to be done on the 3rd of January, for some reasons I  am still filling up the form and hubby doesn't even looking at it. sigh..... does applying after the 90 days make a difference for the interview date? or they will still look at your priority date?

It takes roughly around 5 months for the N-400 process whether you do before 90 days or after. So calculate roughly 5 months from the day you file.

Still don't understand your question. But either way nothing gets processed in a week or two. Everything takes time. For anything in uscis you need to wait 90 days before they can give you an update. Since you said you replied only on Dec 11 for the RFE I would sit tight for another 90 days before calling them. You can call them now but all you will get is the same response that it is under process.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsFinally sent my petition

Hey guys I sent my fiancé petition on 11/23/13.  It was delivered on 11/25/13 so now I am waiting.  I know that this week was thanksgiving weekend so I am hoping to hear from USCIS next week.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWhat do you think?

So some of my very good friends confronted me tonight. The say they want the best for me and they love me. But that they dont have good vibes about my relationship. They say that im rushing into it. They dont know my fiance, they have never met him. They say how could i really know him, after only spending a week with him? They tell me to really think about this relationship. All i want is to be happy. I believe that my fiance is really in love with me, and he would never hurt me. I love him too. However i have not spent enough time with him to know if he will be abusive or not, how he will treat my children, and how he will act here in the united states.

Do you think my friends are over reacting? Or do they have a point? Should i slow down and cancel the k-1?

That i have seen on here most of the relationships have gone on for years before filing. Maybe i should give it more time?

As a mother myself, I think you should take your time to get to know him.  If you are asking this question that because you are doubting your decision to file for him so soon in the relationship.  Yes you may love him but please get to know him first, find out if his intentions are truly genuine.  If he truly loves you, he will appreciate and understand the decision because marriage is a lifetime commitment and children should be taken into consideration when walking into it. I am not telling you that he doesn't love you, but please get to know him for the sake of your children.

Us women are overly emotional and sometimes we make irrational decisions due to our emotions, but sometimes it's good to sit down take a deep breath, put the emotions to the side and truly think.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsIs there 2013 fillers without NOA2 or I am the only one???

It's been 229 days... 7 month and 17 days..

Is there anyone else from 2013 without NOA2?

I filed last November for my fiancé received my NOA1 on December 2 and was finally approved on August 1, 2014.  my thoughts to you is to file service requests, call the service center and document it.  Finally, schedule an appointment at your local office to speak to an agent.  I followed all of these steps before, filing a complaint with the USCIS Ombusdman.  Ombusdman should be the last resort because, you have to provide proof that you filed service requests.   2 weeks after filing the complaint, I got my RFE and a week later got my approval.

I hope this helps.  I am pretty sure that  you're next in line.  Hang in there!

They're STILL saying that date? When I called a week ago they said that date. And I know before that, they were saying that date for about two weeks already.

Oh I see!!! Apparently this date as been going around for some times now. It is unbelievable to see that some people were approved in less than a month and others are still sitting here waiting biting their fingers off because of the anxiety. I just hope to hear something soon. I told USCIS that I will be calling every week and everyday if I have to

Well it is April 30 and still no NOA2. I am beyond pissed because when I called NCIS they said that Texas is backed up with applications and they were processing October 22. So they say I would probably have to wait another 3 weeks to get a response. I'm sad, mad depressed just to name a few

Hi there Cj and Ivan! Congrats on sending out the package! I know that I was overwhelmed in the beginning trying to put everything together. So I know it's a relief just to send the package out after working hard to put everything together!

My documents were also delivered on Tuesday. I too am hoping my check will be cashed this week and I receive the email/text notification for the NOA1!

I hope both our fiancés are here before the summer! I'm a little obsessed so I'll keep everything updated! You keep us posted too! Good luck smile.png

Hello H&U, I sent my fiancé's application a day after you, November 23 to be exact, and I am praying to hear from USCIS next week with the first notification. I did not expect to hear from them last week since they only received the application on Tuesday and federal offices were closed on Thursday and Friday.  I am hoping that they cash the check on Monday or Tuesday. Please keep me posted as to you receive yours so I can expect mine.  I would love for my fiancé to be here before July.

I am wishing you all the best in this process.

Wow I'm impressed and shocked that some of you November filers received your NOA2 in less than a month!!! How awesome! My fingers are crossed! I hope to get lucky as well smile.png I filed Nov 22 and hope to have my fiance with me by March and latest by summer! I'm praying my application is complete and don't get any RFE's.

Good luck to all of you, maybe you even get to be with your loved ones by the new year!

Congratulations, RoadRunner! Nice to know there is light at the end of the tunnel. And to Sparkle Pony who has always been so encouraging to everyone here, our turn to encourage you! I'm sure it will come and be worth the wait.

Here, heading towards an unbelievable 6 months next week, precious months of our lives, still waiting for NOA2. My congressional contact is going away, so I asked a senate office to take over, though I'm beginning to think that all they can do or are willing to do, is to get information if they can, but maybe it depends on your particular senator or congressman in your state. Haven't heard back yet, but I'm very lucky that my fiancée is so great about everything; she calms me down and gets me to laugh! I think someone at TSC has mabye seen too many episodes of "The Americans"; one doesn't know what to think... Here's hoping we all get approvals this week, and that the NVC to interview stage will go quicker, to make up for some of the time lost. Nothing else to do, but hang in there everybody!

I am still waiting on the NOA2. 5 months going on 6 and when I called USCIS today, I was told that TSC is backed up and on April 21 they were processing October 22, 2013. They said that I would probably receive something within 3 weeks. I know that there will be no spending 4th of July with him. I want to cry.

US Citizenship General DiscussionGC is expiring before my Interview. Need some help

Hi,

Two weeks ago I received the yellow letter to bring my driver license to the interview, but I didn't receive the interview appointment letter yet.

I applied for citizenship about 3 months ago, and my fingerprints were taken almost 2 months ago. My GC expires at the end of this month (January 2014).

Do you think I need to request an infopass for an extension? The reason I'm asking this is because I don't want any delay in my case or paying for a GC renewal that I'll never use. I understand that I should have applied earlier, but now my case is in process.

What to do? Do you think I go for the infopass asap, or just show up to the interview with an expired GC? Btw, my office is in Dallas, Texas

Thank you in advance for any advice.

You do not need to extend your greencard. You can become a citizen with expired greencard. It will take another couple of months before you get the citizenship. The one reason you might have to extend the GC is if you want to leave the country for anything and you will need the GC to get back in.

If you do not have any plans of travel then I would advice you to save the money to extend GC. And do not setup any infopass they will not speed up your n400 process because your gc is expiring.

But as the above person said if you have the 2 year gc then you need to apply to remove conditions.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN400 w/a Name Change

My wife's 20yr old daughter is now eligible for citizenship based on the 5yr condition. She wants to change her last name to mine, and doing it via the N400 is probably the best way. How much longer of a delay will this cause since it goes to a federal judge, and are there any pitfalls we should be aware of prior to proceeding? Thanks all!

It does depends on the local office. But not much. Like for example my oath is on 31st Jan and my wife is on 7th Feb since she is changing her name.

Okay, well technically he is still in the guard so that makes him a current member of the armed forces I guess. Because national guard is military too, but he does have a civilian job, so that's where my confusion lies

I understand your confusion. I think the best way is to call their 1-800 number and find out the answer unless someone in your situation can answer in this forum.

US Citizenship General DiscussionConfused on where to file N400

Thank you. I read the instructions. You don't have to make it sound like I can't understand it. My question is whether to file in Nebraska because he's military or if that is only for active duty? The point is that we are either filing in Nebraska because he's in the military or whether we file based on living in PA

I think the instructions are clear. According to the wordings

Current or former members of the US Armed forces, spouses of current members of the us armed forces, or close relatives of deceased members of the us armed forces

Since you are the spouse he needs to be current member of us armed forces for you to send to Nebraska else send it based on where you live.

US Citizenship General DiscussionPlease Help!! Questions for N-400 Jan 2014

I will be filing under 5yrs permanent resident Jan 2014 and have a few questions to clarify:

1) I had missed filing 2011 taxes (my husband forgot) but I filied them this year in 2013, so I'm clear on all my taxes now.

There is a question in for N-400 part 10 #4 Have you ever failed to file taxes since becoming a lawful permanent resident? Yes /no .

I'm assuming this I will have to check as yes, will it affect my naturalization? Is it safer to file through a lawyer? It also says explain why with supporting documents. But its just that my husband forgot to file it and I dont have supporting docs.

I think you can say No since you have filed it now (but I am not sure about this - please ask the experts)

2) Do I require transcripts for past 5yrs as I spoke to a lawyer who said its not neccessary and I can carry my paperwork for the interview but I want to be sure.

Yes you will need them(they might never ask but it is safer to have it in hand than not especially since you missed one year and filed it later). It is easy and free to get from the irs website.

3) I have my state ID to show proof of 3 months stay within the state. Is that acceptable for of I.D as I still have to renew my drivers license which is from another state.

No issues with the state id

4) For filing out info about spouse and kids, even though I'm applying under 5yr rule I'm assuming I still need to fill all that info out?

Yes

5) My husband and I don't have kids of our own yet but I have step kids who live with their mother. Do I enter the step kids names under section 9 or is it pertaining just to your biological kids?

No. These are about your kids and not step kids

Section H Oath requirements -

Does one usually select all as a Yes?

Yes

Employer info Section 6B
I have been a freelancer/self employed since 5yrs. Do I just write self-emplyed for a 5yrs date period and then write the previous 3 employers info before that?

Just the five years should be enough and there is no issue if you give the previous employers too. But they are just looking for the past five years

Is it safer to file through a lawyer?

Your case seems to be a straight forward case. I would not waste money on the lawyer. You just need answer for your first question which I think you will get in one of these forums.

thanks

US Citizenship General DiscussionHelp Needed: N400 applications potentially mixed

I need some advice.

- Filed N400 application (Jan 2014) at the same time with wife.

- We prepared two separate applications, wrote two separate checks, put them in two separate envelopes but sent to USCIS within one single fedex envelope.

- Both checks were cashed within one week.

- I thought this was going in the right direction: until my wife received two separate e-mails with two separate receipt numbers noted. And I received nothing.

- When I checked the case files online it said they are both processing. But could not see under whose name the applications were processing. I thought I would wait for I797C and verify the names.

- Today we received my wife's I-797C in the mail. And I still got nothing.

Is there a chance (although they cashed two checks separately and assigned two different receipt numbers) they might have mixed applications and attached both case numbers to my wife ?

As of today: There are two separate checks cashed, two separate cases processing, and only one I797C received.

What would be the best way to proceed with this ? Any suggestions greatly appreciated?

Thanks in advance.

Not to worry. Samething happened to me. The other one is yours. They use only one 1145 from a packet. You will get your NOA soon

US Citizenship General DiscussionName change and Oath letter

I had my interview today, passed and received oath letter. I also requested name change but the oath letter is still showing my unchanged name.

Was wondering if anybody had their name changed and received oath letter showing 'new name'?

Thanks!

Oath letter will still be for old name(same for my wife). Your new name takes effect only after the judge changes it which will be on the oath day.
