Why haven't I gotten my interview yet ? ??

Oakland park office is also very slow like Hialeah- close to 2-3 months. I finished my bio on 9/23 and I got the letter on 12/8 and I see you are close to month away from me and hence wait another week or so.

My 3 year anniversary was 9-9-13

Might be stuck in the name check. It usually takes 2 business days after biometrics to change to "Inline" as long you are beyond the anniversary. Try calling them to find out the status

when you guys check your status on USCIS does it still say initial review or testing and interview ? Mine says initial review, but I did biometerics October 21st.

What is your eligibility date - 3/5 year anniversary

 

Till you get inline for interview you will be in Initial review. If you are one month away from your eligibility date then you will go to "inline" in which case it will change to testing status.

Just found out that the Form n400 I used was expired in 3/31/2013.

So I downloaded a new form n400 from uscis , Found out that form is also expired the one on uscis website.

Guess everyone filed an expired version of n400.

anyway I think it wont be a problem.

if you go to the uscis website for forms and go to N400 you will see the following

 

A new edition of this form is coming soon. In the meantime, customers may file using the 3/22/12 edition. Editions dated 06/17/11, 01/18/11, 11/23/10, 04/05/10, 01/15/10 and 01/22/09 may also be accepted.

Had my interview this morning. I was approved. The whole thing was very smooth and the IO was incredibly nice. Took a total of 25 minutes. Wait time was about an hour.

Will post a more detailed review once I get out of work.

Thank you! Interview went well, IO was very nice, I had my lawyer with me because of DUI a few years ago. IO said that everything looks good but a supervisor has to review everything before i get my approval. My lawyer said that this is routine procedure and a supervisor has to review the case always if there is criminal record involved. 

So, let's hope it does not take them long to get back to me with their final decision. Lawyer said should not be more than 2-3 weeks.

Don't worry about that. Not everybody receive that yellow letter. Some people receive it and some not. So its okay.

What is this yellow letter that other members mentioned? When I got my interview letter it simply listed a very few documents that I should take with me (green card, my passport, my spouse's birth certificate, original tax returns), and then there was a second page with a checklist with all the items, which is a standard form like the checklist you can find online. Am I supposed to receive a yellow letter? 

Only some people get this yellow letter. So you do not have to worry as long as you got the regular interview letter.

Looks like a lot of you got your interview dates, should i be worried? I did the finger prints October 21st and haven't heard anything yet?

 

It all depends on the local office. I am in Hialeah and you are in Oakland Park. Both the offices are atleast 2 months behind. So with the holidays do not expect till end of dec or early Jan. I am in online from 26th of Sept. And also some people in June even April group are still waiting.

I am looking for the same information. If I see "inline for interview scheduling", have I passed the draded name check stage?

From what I read in other forms yes it means you cleared the name checks(I may be wrong but just repeating what I saw in other forums). Only after you clear the checks and also if your eligible date is just one month before they can move to inline for interview. Say if you are eligible after 2 months then you case will stay in the fingerprinting for the next month and then only it will move to inline for interview.

In this you are basically waiting for them to schedule your interview. The wait in this will depends on your local field office processing time. So if they are current then you will quickly move to "Interview Scheduled" and will get the interview letter. If they are behind like mine you will be in this status till they are ready for your priority date and then you will be scheduled for the interview. 

 

So basically you can be in this from anywhere from 1 day to 6 months.

 

And usually you move to this stage 2 days after the biometrics. It can take longer sometimes 2-4 weeks. In very rare cases it is stuck in biometrics for ever and at which point you will need your senator or someone push the name check along.

Hi all-

 

I probably need to re-post this elsewhere. But since we are all filing together, this is a good place to ask the question.

 

We need to likely postpone either the fingerprinting, interview or swearing-in appointment because my wife is going abroad and won't have her green card (they take it away when you get the naturalization certificate) to return and won't be a citizen of the country she is visiting anymore. In other words, once you get your naturalization certificate, she needs to apply for a US passport and then apply for a visa to enter the country of her birth; there won't be time between that happens and when she has to go. Her fingerprinting appointment is end of this month, her trip abroad is in early January.

 

We can -

a) request a different fingerprinting appointment

b) request a different interview appointment

c) request a future swearing in ceremony.

 

Does anybody have any experience in this? which one would you recommend?

It is very simple - Just work the eligibility worksheet which is in the same page as N-400 forms in uscis.gov.

 

Just answer the following questions. If it is false then just wait till it becomes true to file.

 

1) During the last ?ve years, I have not
 been out of the United States for 30
 months or more.
 
2) During the last ?ve years (or the last three
 years if I qualify under Attachment A), 
 I have not taken a trip out of the 
 United States that lasted one year or more.
 
3) I have resided in the district or state in
which I am applying for citizenship for 
 the last three months.
 
And no you will not be deported. Either of this can happen - a) it will be rejected right after you applied and they will ask you file it later or b) it might go upto interview stage and gets rejected in which case you lose the money you paid for filing.
 
Either way just work the worksheet as there are lot more questions there. Good Luck

It depends on the field office. They schedule interview according to your priority date and your field office. So for example Hialaeh, FL might be 2 months behind and West Palm Beach, FL is current. So a person who filed after you if he is in west palm beach then he gets the interview first and you will be waiting another 2 months for yours.

 

Also depends if you are filing with military background as they are expedited

You need to check with the rules in Australia whether they allow dual citizenship and if you are allowed to use your Australian passport once you get a US one. Like for example I am from India and it is a felony to use my Indian passport after I get US citizenship. So it defers from country to country.

You can travel and no need to notify uscis. But you need to be here for your fingerprinting, interview and Oath. So either that or you will have to someone collect your mail and reschedule those when it arrives. Because if you do not reschedule and do not make it for the appointment it will be consider abandoned and you will have to start the process all over again. 

 

And you just inform them during the interview of the additional travel outside the country if done before interview or at the oath ceremony if you do it after interview and before Oath.

Hello you all
I just sent in my N-400 application based on a 5 year eligibility.
I applied 90 days early..
My question is am traveling and I want to know if interviews are done before the 5 year anniversary or interviews will have to wait till after the 5 year anniversary before its done.. I have heard stories about interviews not being conducted till after you hit the 5 year mark while others say its the oath that is conducted after the 5 year mark...
I will gladly appreciate any input..



When you file 90 days before your case won't move to "Inline for Interview" till it is just one month from your 5 year anniversary. So basically you can get the fingerprints done but case won't move after that. Once you become inline you can move to schedule to interview within 1 day or later (depending on your local office). But when they schedule it is 30 days after. So your interview will anyway end up after the 5 year completion.

http://forums.immigr...0-denail-notice in this forum infact one person was rejected since he did not signup for the Selective services and was told to apply after 31 by USCIS in the rejection letter.

 

That is one and also you did not get your PR till you were 32. So there is no way you could have signed up before even if you wanted too in a H1 visa.

You need the physical green card for naturalization. If you lost it then you need to apply for one. You can do it both together. First fill for the green card replacement form. Send it and attach the receipt of that to the N-400 application.
