I have a very stubborn husband. He plans on leaving his job on Oct. 12th and we will travel up on Oct. 14th. I figured we would stay around long enough for him to make the rounds to tell his friends goodbye. Plus we have to go to church and have them pray for us and say their goodbyes. Everytime I go home and go to church, they ask me "yuh finally come fi him" and I have to tell them, "no, maybe next time".
At least now I can tell them, the next time you see me, I'm taking him with me.

After that you will be planning together your visit home. Last night I was talking to my sister that we may plan a family trip in the next 2 years, so that her husband and kids can get familiar with Jamaica. Her husband is from the Dominican Republic and the last time her and my younger sister visited was almost 7 years ago, so they are more than due a visit. We'll spend Christmas in Mobay cool.gif

Milan,

My prayers and thoughts are with you and your spouse. If the turn around time from Visa approval to visa in hand only takes a few days which is what happen in Kimmy's case who is also got a IR1/CR1 you made be able to do both in one trip. You will probably have to stay in Jamaica for at least 7-10 day but if you can get the time off work you may be able to swing it. Tamieka and I will make sure we update our timeline so you will have at least something to compare your situation too. I am not flying down to come back with David because he has been to the USA two times with in the last year. He is comfortable nagivating thru customs. However if he had never been thru the USA custom process it would be hard to choose between the interview and fly back with him. I have cleared customer many times some time it really easy other times it is a nightmare and I consider my self a season traveler.

Also remember that when Tamieka and I was scheduled; the process for the NVC scheduling for Jamaica was very new. I bet if you have to wait for a November date; your interview date will be the 1st of the month.

I keep kicking myself that I told Aaron that I want him here by October 13th. He has that date set in his head as it being set in stone mad.gif . Now I can't convince him to make it earlier, especially if he gets his visa in a few days as opposed to 2 weeks. headbonk.gif
I should have told him the end of the month and he would be here in time for my company picnic which is Oct. 13th.

That's why I have held off as long as I have to go home. When I returned after the Christmas holiday, I went back in May, because I was hoping we would hear something before that. After May, I have held off again in hopes that we would have heard something. I had planned to go home for Jamaican Independence, but then we realised it was getting closer to getting a date. Now that it's a definite date, I don't feel so bad. When was the last time you went home?

I remember when I went through the process, you do the interview in the morning and in the afternoon you pick up your passport with the visa stamp. Not anymore. On the website it says that it will be delivered in 5 to 10 business days. Unfortunately, they have been running behind. If you could make a week of it, then you could see if he gets it by then.

Before you know it, he'll be here. This morning on my way in to work it dawned on me that the interview is in 2 weeks and he should be here in 5 weeks. We are working for him to be here October 13th. I am giving us enough time to have the passport delivered to him within 2 weeks at the latest.

I have been wondering what happened with Empress' interview ClockWatch2.gif . I am so anxious for her. I have been waiting to hear about her case and Shonnie's case (k-1). Anna made a point the other day that she believes the CR-1/IR-1 visas are delivered faster than the K-1/K-3 visas and I wanted to see between both their cases, the delivery time frame. Trying to judge how long we will really have to wait to have hubby's passport with visa in hand.

It's easier for foreigners to get ahead in Jamaica. I remember when my dad was starting his business and he went to one of the government agencies to apply for a grant, they said there was nothing available. Yet, within weeks a news story came out about a call center that was being opened in Ja which required about US$200 mln and they got the loan from the govt. Within 6 months the center closed and they sued the Govt and got even more $$. It breaks my heart because job creation and such is more likely to come from within Jamaica than out mad.gif

Hi Ladies,

I have a quick question for my I-864EZ packet. On my 2006 tax return I worked for two employers. I'm going to send in my 06 tax return along w/both w2's to show my income. However, I am no longer at the Mortgage co and needed to know if I should submit a letter stating that? I am now working two jobs but only want to mention my full time job since it's well over the 125% poverty level. Also my 2nd is w/a temp service and I'm not sure how long it may last.

It wouldn't hurt, but I don't think if you omitted it that it would hurt your case. Fact is, you make enough to take care of his financial needs until he gets a job and it will be fine for your case. Just mention your current full time job.
Are you getting a letter from your employer to include with the package?

For my I-864EZ packet I'm including the following. Please let me know if I'm missing anything. Do I need a letter from my bank or just provide the last 12 months bank statement? I've been saving them.

I-864EZ Form
2006 Federal Return (that shows filing for both Javon & myself)
W2 from my full time job
W2 from part time job
Employment letter
Last 6 month worth of pay stubs
2005 Tax transcript
2004 Tax transcript

The last 12 months will be fine. I do not remember including any bank statements with my I 864EZ. I will take copies of my bank statements with me to the interview though.

Oh Ok...Poor baby! You will have her here in no time... kicking.gif I am from St.Catherine and I have never experienced a hurricane (That I can remember at such a young age)...I left Jamaica in November 1987 at age 9 and then hurricane Gilbert came 1988...So thank God I missed that one. I just hope my Hubby will be here before God forbid another hurricane hits. blush.gif

The hurricane thing nuh easy. I have been through Gilbert and Wilma (when it came to Florida). Plus all the other brushes with hurricanes here in Florida, I can't wait to leave. The one thing I can say for Gilbert is it brought us closer to our neighbors. We had a lot of time to sit and talk with the month long darkness smile.gif

Andre still hasn't heard from any of his family crying.gif We know it is because the cell service is down but it sure would be nice just to know.

Jamie, I hope you hear from Andre's family soon. I'll be praying for you.

Anna - I am so happy you finally heard from your daughter. I am sure she was scared and very happy to hear your voice yesterday.

Sarah - Happy you heard from Marlon. I hope his visa is on the way

Tam...What does RFE mean on your timeline?
Trying to use your timeline to estimate my whole thing! whistling.gif

Request for Evidence...I am going to change it to read received checklist letter. You shouldn't have to worry about that. I got that letter when they changed the system and wanted our marriage certificate and his birth and police certificate. Now that they have that in place, that is one step you shouldn't have to go through. good.gif

A pipe dream, I suppose. We all know there is nothing logical about that place.

That is why they need to hire one of us to work at the embassy. We could snap that place into shape in just a few weeks time.

laughing.gif laughing.gif For real!!!

milan

you just missed it good.gif

Sorry milan, I should have pointed it out more blush.gif . Thanks Empress

I was told by NVC that the applicants would get a copy of the Medical in a sealed envelope to take to the embassy.

Thanks milan. Did they tell you this when you called recently?

Never mind, I just checked my interview letter and in the reminders section, they state that we should bring his medical exam results to the interview in an envelope sealed by the medical office.

I knew I read it somewhere biggrin.gif
