Hey claire,

Yes he should have signed it. I would make a copy of the police certificate so that he can have a copy for the interview; I sent both copies of Aaron's and he had made an extra copy for both of us to have at the interview.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaInterviewing in Kingston Jamaica
Hi tidanemu,

I am sorry that did not receive an interview date. I wouldn't start raising a stink until after they have scheduled February interviews and you are not in the mix. I know it is frustrating to wait, but in comparison to other consulates, Kingston is doing fairly good on scheduling interviews. As I stated in a previous post, USA-Jamaica's case was complete the end of June, while my case was scheduled mid-July. We both were scheduled for September interviews, mine was 4 days before hers. Kingston does seem to be backing up, but I am sure you will hear good news soon; don't lose heart.
So far I can only remember 1 other person with a January interview going through Kingston.

-Tam

Congratulations Islanddream...In fact they are not only requesting the DS-230 part 1; they want you to send the entire DS-230 form even though you will sign Part 2 at the embassy. They want you to send in your original birth certificate and marriage certificate, as well as your police certificate. If you haven't gotten them yet, try getting your birth certificate and marriage certificate together. You should have your interview way before you are about to give birth.

Best of luck to you!!! good.gif

I also used Western Union and that worked wonderfully. I had also been toying with the idea of getting Netspeak. My dad uses it in Jamaica and he has a Florida number. They had a location here in Florida so I could have gotten the adapter and had a Jamaican phone number so that hubby could call me. Even though hubby is now here, I may still get the Netspeak, since his parents are still in JA and my grandparents are there as well. You could take a look at this: Netspeak in the US

Thanksgiving weekend we went to Georgia to visit friends and he drove all the way. We had a discussion on how much faster over the speed limit you can go without getting a ticket. I said 5 miles, my BF's husband said 10. The very loving husband approached a cop in the mall when we got home and posed the question to him (Police tell him 5, but him mus' go di speed limit).

They told her we should have an interview by Feb or no later than early March. Just wanted to share the good news, I am getting excited, I want to see my baby!

they haven't schedule the interview date yet? I was told last week by the NVC that they were a little behind and that we should get an appointment for February and no later than March.

I still haven't hear anything yet and I just called NVC and to only hear that my case was close on....blah blah blah. wacko.gif

Jason - Congratulations kicking.gif kicking.gif biggrin.gif That is GREAT news!!!

JA TAM.... blush.gif I must be confused I thought I was waiting on Embassy in Kingston to schedule my appointment as well as I was told by NVC. They said that Kingston had no available appointments for January so I should get the next available appointments in Feb/March. Thanks for clearing things up for me.

Yeah, NVC does the scheduling and later the embassy puts it into their system. I was in the first batch of the NVC scheduling the CR1/IR1 interviews and it was mad drama, since my interview was scheduled on a Friday and the Embassy in Kingston usually only do IV interviews Tuesday & Thursday. Mi start fret and had to call the Dept of State who can see what is entered into the embassy's computers. Dem tell mi seh, dem only si seh mi case was forwarded to the embassy, but dem nuh si nuh interview. Mi dear, I was so worried and stressed. It took the embassy about 2 weeks to enter it into their system. When I called the NVC questioning them on whether the date was right, I was promptly put in my case that NVC scheduled my interview...nuff said laughing.gif

Honestly, I think it's a nice gesture on the part of the government, but at this time the public has been so bombarded by the media with all this recession talk, that consumer confidence will keep at least 90% of this nation from "jump-starting" the economy. Many of us are going to be putting it in the bank for all the rainy days that seem to be ahead. The stock market was a clear indication on the feelings of the public to the government's plan; the sell off continued -- the roller coaster ride continued. Hubby and I will be using it to pay off some bills, save for the rainy day and pay for exams that I will be taking in June (thank God my employer will reimburse me if mi pass them!).

I don't know why all of a sudden I feel so nervous about my husband interview. Maybe because I don't know what they will ask him. I can't even take the time off to be there for his interview. So many different emotions are running thru my head right now.

anyone that has went thru the process is the interview questions hard in Kingston?

Deniese,
Don't fret! The interview was easy. Please read my review. Since you filed for a CR-1 visa, they probably will not ask for a lot of the documents that K-1 & K-3 filers have to bring. At any rate, give your husband copies of all pertinent information (e.g. financial info, wedding & informal pictures). I have a check list that I made to double check every thing. Let me know if you would like a copy.

In the mean time, be sure to have your husband make an appointment for his medical. There are three Jamaican physicans that the Embassy uses.
Here is the link for more information-

http://kingston.usem...dicalexams.html

Also, be sure that your husband has the blue version of his birth certificate & a police certificate.

You have total support from the Yardie thread! Let us know if you have any additional questions/concerns.

Take care,

Kelia (Pronounced Kee-Lee-Ya)

thanks but i filed for IR-1

also why would i need to sumbit another police certificate if NVC has forward them to Kingston Embassy?

NVC said that m husband didn't need to bring anything on the interview (other than pictures, marriage certificate, birth certificate).

It's always good to bring copies of the documents just in case anything is misplaced. You should be fine though; they had all our documents when we went for the interview. Since your interview is in March, remember to take copies of your tax returns for 2007 or your W2s.
I tend to think that they try to print the IR1/CR1 visas a little quicker than the K1 visas. It took less than a week for hubby to get his and I know of at least one other Jamaican couple who got theirs within a week. You may want to see if there are any recent IR1/CR1 applicants who just went through Kingston to see how long it took for them to get their visa. So happy for you!!! dancin5hr.gif

FYI - You may see some questions on there that pertain to K1, but in general a good number of the questions will give you an idea of what is asked.

In tune with Valentine's Day coming, I wanted to bump this thread.

JATam, I ordered those books... The Power of a Praying Husband/Wife, and I must say I LOVE them! good.gif

I got them off Amazon.com about 3 weeks ago and have already read pretty much both of them. Thanks so much for this suggestion, I reccommend it to any husband and wife. I got the "husband' book for my man as a Valentine's gift and will be giving it to him this weekend. I think he'll REALLY like it. This book came right on time for me personally and I think that its a good resource for any Christian household...actually ANY household. Of course it is all about prayer and the effects that it can have in a positive manner on your marriage. Very useful subjects that I believe ALL people come to have questions on whether they are practing Christians or not. I think both partners having a copy and praying for one another and together would be a great benefit to the relationship. heart.gif

Thanks Tam!

Funny how I told you about it and I have yet to get a copy of it for my husband laughing.gif I am going to get it for him, plus at one time he wanted me to get the book written by John Hagee and his wife, "What Every Woman/Man Wants". It's 2 books in 1.

I have been incorporating this 31 days of prayer with Stormie's "The Power of a Praying Wife". Based on what I am praying on for him, I review what Stormie has written about it and see what aspects of his home life, work life, ambition spirituality, etc. that I need to concentrate on.
Here is Amazon's listing of The Power of a Praying Husband

Because we're usually the prayer-warriors...The closest I can think of is Stormie Omartian's "Power of a Praying Husband". I bought that for my BFF's husband and I think I am going to get a copy for mine.

Jengles, thanks again for sharing this. I shared it with my best friend and sister; we are going to do this for the next 31 days and at the end of each week, we are going to get together to talk about things that we may need to pray with each other for and just the changes that we may see in our hubbies after doing this. It's not only an awesome thing to do for our husbands, but it helps us in our own spiritual walk as well.
