Hey Claire, how tings?

Hey Tam Tam; Tonks for the shout out. I am here at work till 11pm (call in to work 4 hrs for an extra $10/hr and couldn't resist). Just catching up on the reading. I am still waiting for that snail mail from JA with Mike's corrected DS-230. He claims it was mailed out last week Tuesday. Getting mail from Ja is some he!!. When he used to work in Kingston, he would go to the General PO and mail it. He now works a little outside Spanish Town (near to Dovecot Cemetary) and asked his cousin to mail it from Old Harbour. He leaves for work at 0600 and gets home at 2000, so he couldn't get to the PO. I am just tired of waiting. I check my mailbox everyday with such anticipation, that my heart sinks when I don't see a letter from Ja. But, girl, I am still hanging in. Every disappointment is for a good. They would have sent the RFE for the passport pictures anyway. I am just taking it easy and hoping for an April/May interview. I miss him so much and I am tired of calling him and telling how much I miss him. Like he says to me most of the time "I feel the same way, but there is nothing you or I can do about it right now, so just hang in there and remember our love is everlasting and will edure this trial that we are going through."

Nuh mind mi dear, it soon reach. Snail mail is a hell of a ting, but yuh should get it soon. Keep the faith...what a small world. My father lives right by Dovecot...we live in a scheme called Green Acres and it is literally the right turn before Dovecot. Mi knoa, it's a small world.

Claire, I will keep you in much prayer because I know you will get it soon and I know you are not going to sleep on that. Right back to the NVC quick time!!!

Congratulations Milan! I know you felt a wave of relief and anxiety all in one when you received the package.

When are you leaving for your wedding? :star: Enjoy your day and I pray for great weather for you :) . Where are you getting married?

I leave next Wenesday night! 8 more days! I cant even focus anymore at work, hence me typing all this stuff on here during business hours!

We are getting married in Negril at this property my fiance found on the cliffs. Its a little hideaway that shuts down in the summer due to slow season, but the owner is letting us use it. We are so blessed. Evertime my fiance tells the story of our relationship people want to be apart of the wedding. He got the lady at the local post office wanting to come and sing for us at the wedding. Some other guy he met who is a chef is coming and catering some stuff for our gift. Another guy is coming to sing that he met. A brother at his church met me for a few minutes on one of my trips there (before we were even dating) and said "we claim you", basically knowing that me and my guy would end up married, now he's paying for the marriage licensing and paperwork. His family is cooking up something fierce. Grandma already bought her goat to contribute. Its so beautiful to feel loved and blessed like this. Its making me emotional just thinking about it all. We both feel like it was truly Gods will for us to meet and it just feels like HE is planning everything out for us. Sometimes HE takes us down a challenging path, but now we realize its to make our bond stronger and our faith in HIM deeper.

You want to cry!!! I want to cry...that is so beautiful. I know what it is like to have God guide your life, but sometimes it can be hard. I wish you both the best and I am very happy for you, though I don't know you  . I remember when my husband prayed about whether he was to marry me and the answer he got was in line with Genesis 24 (the story of Isaac and Rebecca). Be careful, you might go to Jamaica and fall in love so much, you don't want to come back   . Everytime I go home, I feel like I don't want to get back on the plane. I pray He continues to order your steps in His word!
Have a safe trip. I see you're getting married on my dad's birthday, so I am sure it will be a great day

Please don't feel like you can't express what's going on with you  . Just trying to see what we can do to help you feel better as you go through the process. I know how hard it is, especially when you're thinking that it should not take this long for mail to arrive. I have been there and I know it's not a good feeling. As Empress said, try to get things together that you know you will need to send to them to help the process along.
It's so funny, but every morning one of my friends in the office asks me, "Any date yet?" In fact the VP of Client relations tells me he thinks I have an imaginary husband, that he doesn't really exist and the picture on my desk came with the frame

Hey Milan, hang in there girl. I know it's frustrating, but there is nothing you can do to get the mail to you faster. Just get everything else ready so that you know on your part you are sending everything back in a timely manner to get the process moving along. It will get better. Right now, I am in a holding pattern to ge the interview date and believe me, it's killing me
How long has it been now? Just take a few deep breaths, occupy your mind with something else, because it makes no sense to make yourself sick with worry.

Ok ladies,

So I have been assembling the forms for the I-130 so that we can send them off soon after the wedding. I have been on VJ for some months now, but there seemed to be a new "requirement" of items to send..... proof of Bonafide Marraige?

Have any of you had to provide this when first applying for your CR1? I dont remember seeing this before. This list of items it gives to provide as proof, I dont currently have. They want joint bank statements, or joint lease or mortgage documents, but we obviously dont thave that stuff yet cause we dont live together, and we are going to be newly married.

What would you suggest I submitl for this? Should I ignore it? I have seen this question come up before, but I didnt find a good answer for my situation.

Thanks!

I never had to give proof of a bonafide marriage, as it is a new policy that they just implemented this past year. I am not sure if anyone else has dealt with this as yet, but you may want to start a new topic and see if you get any responses. I remember when I saw this new requirement, I thought I would have a tough time doing that as well, because though we have been married for 4 years, we never did anything joint as we didn't live together yet. I hope you are able to get some help with this. I have heard some people may get letters (affidavits) from family and friends to give as proof as well.
They also now want proof if you are filing for a parent and you were born out of wedlock, to show that the father has acknowledged the child. I had my mom write a letter and had it notarized and sent it with the application last month. I am waiting to see if they ask for additional evidence after which I will get school records to prove that I loved with my father. Good luck.

Thanks for the Timeline Milan. That helps me out alot in figuring out my what my timeline may look like.

It seems that most of you ladies in this thread are going the CR1 route or are at least familiar with it. I am goin to be applying later this month (FINALLY), after our wedding in JA. Could you all tell me what items I should be sure to get from my, then husband, to make sure I bring back with me to the States. Like birth certificates, filled out forms, etc.

Also what should I be sure to bring with me during this visit that he may need to have or sign, fill out , etc. I just want to try to bring the things I need instead of mailing them to him later, or waiting for Snail Mail from Jamaica.

Thanks in advance

Hi Marlita,

I recommend you obtaining some forms from both the USCIS & Dept of State website. He will need to have the forms G-325A, DS-3032, DS-230 part I (signed) II (unsigned). You will need the following forms:

I-130 Packet:
G-325A (you should complete the form before hand and have him sign them - 4 pages)
DS-3032 (also have him sign this form even though you might submit via email)
DS-230 (have this form completed before hand as well and have him sign it)

Make sure the above forms are all signed by him but not dated. You will date them when the time is near.

For the I-130 packet you will need the his birth cert, the marriage cert, pics from the wedding, proof of bonafide marriage, and his divorce absolute if he's been previously married.

For the NVC stage you will need the police cert and the bio page of his passport. The bio page is also good to use to obtain his ITIN to file your taxes.

PS. I would have him wait to apply for the police cert since it's only valid for 6 months (or a year - not completely sure). Have him send it to you once your NVC case # is assigned.

To add to what nyseness wrote, try to have a few copies of the forms signed by him in case any of the forms are misplaced by any of the agencies. I have learned my lesson ;) . Good luck and this is a great site; it's helped me a lot :) .

Thanks for the Timeline Milan. That helps me out alot in figuring out my what my timeline may look like.

I finally broke down and worked on my timeline last night, when I should have been doing my final report for class (due on Friday :innocent: ). At the top of the screen there's a link My Controls. On the page it takes you to, look on the left hand side under Menu, look under Personal profile, click on edit signature. In here you can type your timeline. The anniversary countdown: if you click the countdown I have, it will take you to the Daisy Path website. It should walk you through doing your own. Copy the url information and paste it in the signature section as well.
Have fun

Hey JA TAM, I just realized that your time line said you would be waiting 8 weeks for an interview date. WOW..That seems like a long time for them just to schedule a date, however I feel like you will get your adte in the next 2 weeks.

On the automated system, the message says to wait 8 weeks for further instructions. I believe they will start scheduling the September interviews in the second week of August, so hopefully we're in that batch, with Jenice (USA-Jamaica). I feel pretty confident that we won't have to wait all that time.

Yeah. It helps..I think that now I am just being anxious aboout how long it takes for them to send the actual affidavit and Visa Fee Bill...I was hoping that getting everything back to NVC as soon as spossible would maybe get my husband into the September interviews, but who knows. Last night the rep at NVC said they schedule INTERVIEWS once a month so at the rate things are going he may not be in the Interview stage until October. :crying:
I am just feeling discouraged today. :crying:

Hey Milan,

We've all been there and know how hard it is to keep strong. Just know that we are all here for you to vent. I was feeling this frustration last month, especially when I would tell Aaron that he needed to go get the police certificate done and sent to me ASAP. He went and did it, had a friend who worked with FedEx who was going to send it at a discount for us, but we lost 4 days because the guy could care less. He eventually had to have one of my best friends get it done for us. I was so frustrated, I cried the whole weekend, because in my mind he (my hubby) was sabotaging us being together. We've all been there, but it's always darkest before the dawn. Just think that you will have a VERY MERRY Christmas and a very HAPPY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Hey Guys I have another question....AFTER I GET THE AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT AND FEE BILL AND SEND THEM BACK, HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE (approximately) for them to REVIEW and send me the actual VISA application?

I agree, mail from the NVC takes forever. Once they get the AOS and fee bill back, it won't take long for them to review, it was probably 2 weeks for us. They won't send you the application, just the coversheet that you need to send with the application and instructions on where to find the application that you need to fill out. You can access it at http://travel.state..../info_1339.html. It's in Adobe format, so you can type in the information. Better yet, have your hubby access the application and fill it out, because they need his original signature, not a copy. Have him sign a couple of page 2, just in case the application gets misplaced by the NVC. That happened to us, so I had to have Aaron send a couple copies to me of his original signature. Also, after they get the AOS and fee bill, they will send you the checklist letter asking for the police certificates, birth certificate and marriage certificate. Best of luck my dear.

Hey Clairey..about the police cert..when Kashi did his, he did I think 2 or 3days ...for $2000JA....so he can get it pretty quickly... kicking.gif

Yeah, it's worth it; for J$1000 more he gets it in 3 days as opposed to 21 days. The quicker you get it to NVC, the sooner you have Mike running into your arms at the airport luv.gif heart.gif yes.gif

Oh you wise ones yes.gif yes.gif

I have been reading a lot of posts and almost all forums and there are mentions of packets #3 and #4. What are they and what exactly do they contain? For all that have completed the journey through the embassies, especially the Jamaican one, what exactly does especially packet #3 contain.

I think that packet #4 contains the appointment letter and instructions on getting your medical done, but I am drawing a blank on #3. Correct me if I am wrong. helpsmilie.gif helpsmilie.gif

Just want to clear this up for myself.

Thanks in advance.

Claire

Claire,
The Packet 3 contains information on the medical and necessary documents that the beneficiary needs to bring to the interview (e.g. police certificate, birth certificate, etc). The Packet 4 is simply a confirmation letter. It states the date and time of the appointment. Be sure to post these types of questions on the Yardie (Part 5) Thread. The procedures are slightly different from country to country.

Hey Claire,

What Mrs. Scott said is correct, but since he is not doing a K1/K3 visa, these things will need to be sent to NVC, though it is good to take a copy with him to the interview. It will ask for the complete DS-230, part 1 & 2, his original birth certificate and the police certificate. You can find all the info here: Appointment NVC Processing

I am so excited for you; looks like things are moving along nicely for Mike good.gif
