fo real lol im abt to check pittsburgh jobs now im on rent.com now checking tx again cheapest decent apt is like 399 the cheapest new single family home i found brand new is 88,000. history maker homes i hear they are a good builder now im struggling! and doin overtime all over again as our bills are slightly higher since i cook more now smile.gif instead of eating out and we wash alot two tvs always going as i have to watch my tivo

Now all the Pittsburgh locals are going to wonder what the hell is happening with all the VJ Yardies moving in laughing.gif
I am so open to moving out of FL. I just want hubby to be a little more established, finish his degree and for me to get my certification and get the heck out of here. It too expensive, man mad.gif

What are the new home prices like in south florida? i just spoke to my girlfriend in tx and she just told me they have the highest property taxes! so i cant win can i. maybe ill just end up in the ATL maybe im gon pray on this but i did ask for a xfer at my job and they said no room at the inn so i have to wait till some folks leave we really want a tropical place trying to make a substitute for jamaica sad.gif florida or cali would be great but cali is higher than NJ

They run a full range; the median home price up to December 2007 was north of $200k. There are condos for sale that start at $180k for 1/1. Of course, we are starting to see an increase inventory of foreclosures. Shoot, I keep thinking that's the way Aaron and I are going to buy a house.

I struggle with this all the time! LOL Living in Pittsburgh is no cup of tea...especially in the wintertime but the cost of living is cheap even though our job market is still competitive because we're in Pennsylvania but reap the benefits of Philly being our "neighbor". Because Philly is a little more expensive than Pgh., the job market here pays the same.

My old apartment in Philly was about $1100 and that was back in 2000. I have a 3bdrm house in Pittsburgh, central air, garage and huge backyard and my mortgage is only $573 and i live right in the city in a decent neighborhood. That's always my dilemma with going somewhere else they may have more perks than a small city like Pittsburgh but at what cost? Trust me, I would love to be somewhere that's more culturally diverse but It's hard to leave when I have tons of extra money every month and can wipe out debt at leisure. wacko.gif

I'll be staying put until I know more about me and Dave's relationship once he gets here.....no need for both of us to be somewhere that neither one of us can afford! laughing.gif

Tonisha, you convinced me, Pittsburgh here I come good.gif If only I can find a job that is paying me what I am getting now with all the little perks. Let me see if any of the subsidiaries for our parent company is out that way! To have mortgage of $573 would be a dream here.

For real...I wanted to go south to get away from the cold but I'll be cold for $573.

For real good.gif I'll be an icicle for what 4 months out of the year for $573/mth for mortgage. And I can bet average utility bills aren't too bad and for sure homeowners insurance is a fraction of what it is here. My mom's insurance bill in total was over $4000 for the year and figure that with property taxes being about the same.

Hey all...I am popping my head in fi si what ah gwaan. Mi deh pon some studies...

Gill - Mi neva tink wi instincts dem ever really wrong. I know how passionate most JA men are about their children, so mi knoa if him find out is not his he is going to be inconsolable. Mi ah pray fi unnu mi dear.
There are so many cases of "jackets" (that's what JA people the children of unsuspecting men who think they are the fathers) because the women give the child to the man who have the dollars! It's sad and I wish it wasn't so.

JALove - keep away from South FL for awhile. The housing market is starting to correct down here, but until they fix property taxes and homeowners insurance, it is best to just stay away. The cost of living down here has skyrocketed so much, it is incredible. I keep seeing news reports that Florida is in a recession, even though no one wants to be the one to say America is sliding into a recession as well. Mek mi come offa di serious topic.

Lawny - mi haffi agree, Bounty is a really down to earth yute. I met him a few years back in my clubbing days. My roommate was a bit of a groupie, so I got to meet him, Elephant Man (who I agree is quite crude), Spragga, Richie Stephens, among others. I remember Richie Stephens in our apartment trying to convince her fi deh wid him. Any session weh ah gwaan inna Miami or Fort Lauderdale, we woulda deh deh. Mi tink mi party enough now, so mi can go res' mi ole foot laughing.gif laughing.gif

Anyways, I hope you all have a great week. Gill, tek a few deep breaths and stop panic ova di form dem! You are going to be fine...Mi caan wait fi hear seh unnu approved!

It's a much better move than PNP stating that JA can not attract Foreign Direct Investment!!!

I'm right with ya' Gill....haven't thought much about "the wedding", still trying to accept getting approved for now. I love your idea of a small wedding here and a bigger ceremony later down the line. Either way, the marriage is more important than the ceremony....For Sure!

Happy Birthday JAE!!

Hey Lita,

Fi tell yuh deh truth gurl...we haven't really thought that hard about it! It will be VERY small (we want to do a bigger one in JA on our 3-5th anniversary). Since he will PROBABLY be here late march...we will have til late june to git married. We have talked about May 23, 2008 (exactly 18 months after we first met)...but we'll see.

I have imagined 15-20 of our closest family in my church's old chapel (it's quaint & much smaller than the current one +
I married 'The A$$hole' (my ex) in the current one.) I am wearing a very simple wedding dress or suit...probably off-white or champange. Ken will be super handsome in his tux. His brother is his best man...my boys & my Dad will give me away! biggrin.gif Then a wedding brunch afterwards. We are planning a family honeymoon in ATL & FL.(Disney) when the kids git out of school end of June.

I just want to get him here first! Then mi nuh really bizniz if we a git married pon deh Brooklyn Bridge!...WHATEVER...JUST GIT HERE KENNY!! laughing.gif Gurl, I have learned that the wedding isn't nearly as important as the marriage! luv.gif Which is what I am REALLY looking forward to

Bless-Bless,
Gill

Agree wid yuh on dat one bout the marriage more important dan de wedding. yes.gif yes.gif

I feel sorry for her too. She is spinning outta control. Do you know that some European newspaper already wrote her obituary?!!! I hope lil miss Miley Cyrus stays focused cause they are starting to get on her over here already. just let her turn 17 or 18 and they'll be on her full force. She has a close knit family so hopefull that gives her some perspective.

ohmy.gif ohmy.gif WTH!! This world is totally spiralling out of control. Why don't we have the love and empathy for our fellow man anymore? Just because she is a "celebrity", she is no more/less human. HOW DARE THEY!!!! That is just simply horrible for them to do. She is someone's child and even more so, she is the mother of 2 little boys! I don't even know what to say, I am so outraged!!!! mad.gif

I was completely outraged when I heard this. it was on the news the other day when she missed her trial hearing again. She's been out with this paparazzi guy who is married and now his wife is filing a divorce. Yeah...people have no compassion. She is crying out for help...and yes she has 2 little boys! There is a REAL BIG reason the judge would give sole custody to their father and not her (the mother). I gotta say though...people dog K. Fed but the man is about his biz when it comes to those kids and yuh gotta give im props on that one/.

No lie!! He is doing what he needs to for his kids. I hope she can get the help she needs because it would be sad for her to continue on the path she is on. Just goes to prove that money can't buy happiness.

You know I am always checking on those gossip websites, mostly out of boredom... but I think it is so weird how obsessed people are to get her picture for some silly magazine. I would not be heartbroken if I didn't get daily updates on her. I think it is very sad. My daughter's father is bi-polar as well and I know 1st hand how crazy it can make a person, especially sleep deprived and intoxicated!
I do feel bad for her and hope she really will get the help she needs....she is soooo young and has so much life ahead of her.

That's the same thing that I say. I won't say that I don't read the story that comes out, but why is it not apparent to them that they need to leave her be. The poor thing is breaking down and it is apparent that she really has a serious problem. It is so heartbreaking because if she does hurt herself...it's just so sad sad.gif

Ok guys. I am SO frustrated and this is only the beginning. I dont know how you guys have made it through! I have so much respect for you!!
I filed my CR-1 on October 30.
I received my NOA-1 on January 17
My receipt number is STILL not in the system.
Talked to my senator's office Tuesday. They sent a fax and they will let me know as soon as they know anything. VSC still hasnt faxed them back.
I am still not in the system.
I have to pay taxes for this year.
We have immigration costs.
I may have PCOS.
I cannot bear the thoughts of going to JA this summer and leaving my husband on July 31 to come back to work with no end in sight.
I need help.
Do you ever just reach that point where your faith in God doesnt even seem to console you? I just dont know if I can do it. Everyday it is making me miserable.
Whine over. haha

I have PCOS, if you need any advice or just want to talk about it I'm here.

Not to be nosey, but what is PCOS? (if you don't mind me asking).

Not being nosey. Its Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome. It basically means your ovaries are cystic and dont work the way they should. causes a whole heap of problems..infertility one of them.. blah

Thanks for explaining. We are going to pray against the infertility; as we can see with Classy, you can have some beautiful babies. good.gif

offtopic45vn.gif With that being said JATam, i was wonderng the other day how everyone came to find VJ? I was told about it from a woman a met on another forum who happened to see me mention i met a man in Jamaica. She told me of VJ waaayyy before we were even close to deciding to get married but she surely led me in the right direction. i always wonder where would i be now, if I hadn't found vj. I took 10 months from joining VJ to filing my petition. But I learned so much in that time.

So tell me...how did you learn about VJ?

GOOGLE laughing.gif laughing.gif I found VJ at the point when NVC sent me the request for hubby's birth cert., our marriage cert. and his police report. Based on how I knew the process was, that threw me, so I started searching for info on this new change for JA. Thankfully VJ popped up and I have been blessed with meeting all of you!!!! wub.gif

Ditto...I found VJ via Google too! I joined in December 2006...checked the Yardie thread got WAAAAAY to overwhelmed and logged off til I actually filed in July 2007! I haven't shut-up since laughing.gif laughing.gif I love love love my VJ Yardie family!! I feel blessed to have found you guys! We are so different from other threads...don't get me wrong we have our likkle falling outs...(hennyone memba the Jena Six issue laughing.gif laughing.gif )but we always manage to come back together like a true family and move on! I love that about us!!

Bwoy, some of the VJ threads out there would have mi inna therapy 6 days a week! Instead...VJ Yardie thread is my therapy! laughing.gif laughing.gif

Love onnuh fuh dat! good.gif heart.gif luv.gif heart.gif luv.gif heart.gif luv.gif ,

Shrewdie, Lita - no lie, it is not an easy journey that you face. SG, sometimes you have to cry, let it all out to God and He will help you to realize that you can't do it in your strength, you need His strength. This is probably one of the hardest processes to go through and Lita, is the same thing I said - I looked at that time apart from hubby as training to be the better wife and for him, the better husband that God wants for each of us. Try and occupy your time as much as possible and remember your VJ family is here for you to encourage you through this process. I wished I had found VJ earlier in my journey, but it was right on time!
My dear, it was the hardest part leaving him everytime I went home; #1 - mi neva waan lef Jamaica, much less without him. The amount of tears that fell the night before I left and the next morning - mi dear, cried 4 rivers between the 2 of us. This process is rough and it hard for someone to understand it unless them going through it too.
Hold fast to your faith my dear - remember it won't be this way forever. THIS TOO SHALL PASS!!! (most recently quoted by Gill & maddie)

Thank you. I just have a lot going on lately and stress out tha wazoo. I just had my heart set on a miracle smile.gif

I know hon...when the burden gets too heavy remember that Jesus said; "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest....For my yoke is easy and my burden is light" (Matt. 11: 28, 30). Cast your cares on Him...you put it to the Lord and you leave your burdens, your stress at His feet. Where better for it to be...I know it is hard to praise through your pain, but remember when the praises go up, the blessings will come down. This week has been rough on me and I have been so depressed because of a lot of things that are going on, but I am going to leave it at His mercy seat. Believe me, this week I got to being so upset with God, but I am even more upset with myself for losing my faith. I'll be praying for you hon. It will get better; tomorrow's another day, one for God's blessings to be renewed!!! good.gif
We're all here for you love. heart.gif

All, check this out: Upcoming Radio Interview. There are a lot of issues that have been highlighted by all of us lately, and to have this public forum to air our immigration issues would be awesome. Hopefully it can spark something in this whole immigration process.

offtopic45vn.gif With that being said JATam, i was wonderng the other day how everyone came to find VJ?

Thankfully VJ popped up and I have been blessed with meeting all of you!!!! wub.gif

Thanks JG and Kimmy,

My congressman's office called not long after I posted that. Here is what she had to say. "They received your case on January 17 (my date of receipt). The process time is 6 months, but they suggested you pay the additional fees and submit an I-129F. That might be a tad bit faster."

I said, "Processing time - what exactly does that mean?"
She replied "The time it will take for the I-130 petition"
I say "Does that mean the time it is in Vermont, the time it is in the States, what exactly"
She after a pause said "The time it is in Vermont, I would be glad to send you the I-129 form"

That was about it. She gave me that information with about the same expression she would if she was calling to tell me that they were having a sale at the local grocery. I then asked her if the I129 was worth it and she said "well, personally I dont know really"

I am not sure that she is all the familiar with the process with the I-130 even. Luckliy it was time for me to leave school as I got in the car and began sobbing before anyone could even see me.
I know that I have it easier than some people, as was stated that I at least HAVE my NOA-1, but it really angers me that fiances and work visas and other petitions are going along at a great pace when people cannot get their spouses, children, and parents here within a year's time!!
No wonder our economy is bad, we seem to have no sense of priority. No wonder our crime is bad, we seem to have no sense of priority. No wonder people SNEAK ACROSS THE BORDER.
The end.

Shrewdie,
The 6 months processing is for the I-130 to get approved(noa2). So from your Jan 17th date til 6 months past that you are well in the normal processing time for USCIS. Currently they are processing July filers with NOA2s. I heard that USCIS is has a deadline to process all i130s with an noa1 before mid January within the next 3 months. Your date is kinda on the cusp of that so i'm not sure what that means for you. Also the I129f is free to file as of the new fee hike last July for K3 applicants. Although if you go on the K3 boards you may hear about peoples K3 visa being cancelled by USCIS and reverting them back to CR1. Apparently they are trying to phase K3 out. I don't advise going K3 since it has already taken you 3 months to get an NOA1. if you start now, you will be 3-1/2 months behind the curve and that doesn't really help you....especially to end up with an temp visa that requires $1010 to adjust to a permanent visa in 90days of POE. I think CR1 visas are actively being processed right now. i know they were on a hold since August but they went back in the queue starting early January and they have til 3 months from now before they put another hold on them.

Hope this helps.

They're still so behind!!! huh.gif Is CSC finally up to August/September? My dad's application was transferred to CSC when I applied for him in July and we got the NOA2 in December. He's already put in Choice of Agent and I am going to pay the AOS bill within the next week.

I just wanted to say goodbye.

I have asked that the book thread be closed. I no longer am able to enjoy it, nor our forum due to the continued antagonizing and provocation.

It is my time to move on from here and I thank those who have helped me to laugh and get through this journey a lot easier. It has been an extremely tough journey for me and one that has lasted 3 years. Keep us in your prayers !

I wanted to rally together those who share a kindred spirit with the exchanging of our experiences but it was not meant to be.

The relentless antagonizing and provocation by one member in particular is no longer worth my time to focus on. I forgive her !

God bless you all with the best !
