I got my NOA 2 last Monday but I don't know what CR/IR is? Can someone brief me?

Let me give you the skinny on CR1/IR1;

CR1 - this is the conditional resident immigrant visa; this is issued to someone who is getting their greencard through a spouse and at the time that the visa is issued you have been married for less than 2 years. The card that you will receive expires in 2 years and no more than 90 days before your card expires, you can file to have the conditions removed.

IR1 - is the immigrant resident visa, which is issued to someone who has been married for more than 2 years at the time the visa is issued and this card expires after 10 years. There is no need to file for conditions to be removed, but you will need to renew your card at the expiration date if you do not file for citizenship.

I hope that answers your question good.gif

Best of luck to everyone as you move on to the next stage of your journey.

If you have gone thru NVC as an appointment post, how were you made aware of your interview dates? Were you sent an e-mail, or did you have to call the NVC or DOS, or did you wait to receive the appointment letter. Just checking what to expect in terms of finding out about the interview scheduling. I know, I know NVC schedules interview during the second week of the current month for the next month's interview. I am only intererested in finding out how anyone know about the interview appointment. Does the agent also get a copy of the interview appointment letter mailed to them.

A couple of times when I have called the NVC, I was asked for an e-mail address. What is that used for? Are you at anytime contacted via e-mail by the NVC or embassy with first initiating one?

(To this day Mike has not received any of the correspondence that I (agent) have been getting from NVC since his date became current in July 2007, and now his case is completed.) ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

Am I rambling? Anyway, your responses to my questions would be greatly appreciated?

Thanks

Claire luv.gif luv.gif

Claire hon, can I tell you - I am mad happy for you that the case is finally complete kicking.gif

I called NVC on the day that they finished scheduling the interviews and heard that we had our interview date. Within a few days the automated system was updated with the information. The DOS didn't have the interview information in their system until the Embassy in Kingston had put it into their system.

I got the interview letter within a week of hearing that Aaron was scheduled; he got a copy of the letter as did our Choice of Agent (we had a lawyer). You should get a copy of Mike's letter, Mike should get one and so will his dad. If he doesn't get the letter, he can use yours or his dad's to get into the embassy.

I can't wait to hear that Mike's date has been scheduled!! Nuff love mi dear luv.gif

Girl, do you remember back in January when I was sending in the DS-230 and Mike hadn't signed the ppolice certificate, how stressed out I was. I was freaking out because everyone told me that the PC had to be signed and to send it back to Mike and have him sign it. I went ahead and sent it in anyway and never got a RFE for that. Can you imagine case completed without that being signed? The NVC operator had told me that there was nowhere in the instructions that indicated that it had to be signed. good.gif

Thanks again for all your help and advice good.gif

My dear, it is one of those things that when you get to the end you wonder "what the hell was I stressing over". You know, when I think of it, the CO had asked Aaron to sign the PC at the embassy when we had the interview. I am so happy you didn't get an RFE for that. You are on your way. Just keep calling them until you hear that they have finished scheduling the interviews.

Today I am sad. I was to be in Kingston with my husband and I am not. On Tuesday night while leaving work I slipped and fell cracking my ankle bone. Now I am home leg up and really missing him now.
I know everything happens for a reason and maybe it wasn't my time to go. At least AJ will hold me ticket until June 2008.

Oh girl, that is so sad. Like you said, everything happens for a reason and only God know why. In the end you will realize why. I am so sorry to hear about your mishap. Take it easy and all will be well.

Love always

Thanks you for your words. Today I got the hard cast put on. At least the doctor said no surgery.

If nothing else, we give God the Glory for that. I am so sorry that this has happened to you, but I know that the God I serve will turn it around for good. Keep the faith my dear. I pray for a speedy recovery for you and I know that hubby wishes he was here with you to help you through this time. PM me if you need anything; I'm in your area, no more than 10 minutes away from Miami Gardens.

Hi

I am in Uk going to get married in Jamaica in May. While i was looking up visa info i came across this forum and I would like to say I wish the one in UK was as supportive as this one you all have each other's backs.

They don't want to let the Jamaicans into the UK - the refusal rate is very very high - how is it form JA to USA.

one love.

Congratulations Jay on the upcoming nuptials. It's crazy that the UK, which has such a strong history with JA has a high refusal rate. Though we really have no statistics, in the 10 months that I have been on VJ, I have only heard of a few "denials" in the process and even these denials will have a second chance to try again in a few years. Most of our Yardies have been approved on the first try; there have only been a few delays because the embassy needed more evidence; usually after the evidence has been provided, they are approved. It's just a stressful and trying process, but we have had immeasurable success for our VJ yardies.
All the best with your marriage and getting your honey to join you in the UK.

Please pray for Marla and her family, she unexpectantly lost her grandmother yesterday and she is very upset. Marla was very close to her grandmother and her grandmother was the only person that she did not want to move away from.

Now I thank God for not letting Marla come to America 2 weeks ago and post-poning her visa approval. I am glad she is at home with her family during this time.

Jason, my prayers go out to Marla and your family. It's tough losing someone so close to you; I will have her lifted up in prayer. God truly had a plan and even now, this is HIS plan.

word of advise to those going to the interview; do not take any lotion, perfume, umbrella, sharp objects or electrical appliance. If your partner can make it, let the attend the interview. it is so much easier with them there. I had all my evidence there and the interviewer did not ask to see any of it. She was pleasant and friendly. I must say i was so nervous before i got to the window but once the interview was on the way i was so relaxed because i was telling her about the love of my life so i was very comfortable, so be confident relax and enjoy.

good luck

The memories...Air Jamaica bumping me off my flight 2 days before my wedding, I almost thought I would never make it. My maid of honor and I pretty much slept at the airport the night and tried again to get on any flights that were going to JA the day before the wedding. We established a relationship with one of the ticket agents who convinced someone to give up their seat so that I could fly home on the last flight the day before the wedding. Because I didn't want them to charge me when I got home, I had packed my wedding dress in the bottom of my suitcase. Big mistake since I didn't have my suitcase until 2 days after I got home, so I had to rent a dress at the last minute. I didn't reach home until midnight and by this time, hubby thought I wasn't going to make it, so he started calling everyone and telling them we weren't going to get married. I made it home just in time.
Oh, did I mention that my maid of honor was left in Fort Lauderdale and almost didn't come home. They bumped her up to first class, but unfortunately she missed out nuptials. We even pushed it back, since we were marrying in our pastor's office and she still didn't make it home in time.

Hey Dimples, either one of you can schedule the appointment. They're going to ask for his interview date; they are going to try and schedule the interview at least 2 weeks before he has to go to the Embassy. This is just awesome. My hubby was in St. Catherine, so he went to Andrews Memorial. The stories were funny because they are going to tell him to strip and inspect him things!!! laughing.gif that was the part hubby never like, standing around naked in the doctor's office.

Tonya, don't call the 202# to see if you have an interview date. Call NVC at 603-334-0700; the people at the 202# won't have it in their system until the JA Embassy updates their computers. Gill and Jason got the dates from the State Dept number because embassy schedules the date; for CR1/IR1 visas the NVC tells the embassy which dates they have scheduled applicants for.
