YAY!!! I know, it took me all of 3 weeks to finally read your review. Thanks hon, will share with hubby later.

US Citizenship General DiscussionA decision cannot be made at this time.

Yes, great news, yesterday her oath letter came in, I got a call from Senator Kohls' immigration manager, she told me that letter was a miscommunication for additional evidence. I did ask her if she could request a letter of verification to that effect. She said no, was disappointed and felt we should respond to that letter anyway with a two week period.

But then the mailman came with stepdaughters' oath letter, so all that stress and worry is over now. Must be the USCIS's was of saying, well they never make an error, that she is approved. March 24, 2011 is the big day.

Thank you for your concern.

So happy to hear that she got her oath letter, Nick. CONGRATULATIONS

Hey Guys,

I just got an Update from a friend who works in that Place in Oakland Park, FL. They said that they had 2 dates for Oath Ceremony one for March 2 and one for March 9th and both of them got mixed up in computer so they canceled both. We will get rescheduled at soon I hope. Thats all I know so dont worry about any issues we just have to wait a bit more.

Aleksandr, thank you for the info. It's a relief to know that it's not something specific to my husband's case. Hopefully our rescheduled oath ceremony is in the mail this week!

This must suck.. Any reason why they descheduled?

No reason for the cancellation.

Make an infopass appointment if they don't transfer you to a Tier 2 Supervisor. That's just crazy!!!

We scheduled the infopass appointment. Earliest time was in March and I will have hubby call USCIS to speak to a Tier 2 sup. Regular cust svc is no use at all :(

So this afternoon, we got a I-797C notice from USCIS that they have descheduled hubby's oath ceremony for March 2nd. Is there anyone else from the Oakland Park office that received this notice, by chance, or from any other office for this date? I am going to call the 800 number, but I am not holding out much hope to get a competent answer on why it's been descheduled :(

Just an update. We had our citizenship interview mid December, about two weeks before the three year mark for citizenship eligibility. Officer had told us they would submit the interview information right after that date(a little over a month ago). However, we saw no movement online for a month, so had scheduled an infopass appt for today.

'Coincidentally', the USCIS officer called us today before the infopass appt and told us that no-one had submitted the paperwork a month ago, but that he was doing it now. I think scheduling the infopass may have bumped the file... he said we would be getting the mail in about a month. Hoping the oath soon after.

Sometimes you have to prod them. Hopefully your oath letter is going to be in the mail soon. I am hoping the same thing for us. I'm waiting until next week to schedule an appointment to find out what's taking so long for hubby's oath letter.

Signed your pics? Is that your passport photo or what? I didnt see nothing on the interview letter statement that I have to bring my passport photo...should I just go ahead and bring some just incase?

You can bring in photos, but it's not necessary. My hubby didn't. I'm sure bonner will clarify, but it could have been the pics that she sent in with the application.

Hey fam...I feel like I have been gone forever. Sorry blush.gif I didn't weigh myself at the beginning of the week, so I have no idea, how much I have lost in this past week. I will try to keep up and let you all know next week.

THIS IS MY CONFESSION: I want to lose the weight, but it's just been a little hard for me to get my booty moving. I have been sick this past week, so I haven't felt up to it. I am hoping that with some movement over this long weekend, I can get into the groove. Keep me in your prayers.

Yardie: I think the same concerns that you expressed about yoga, is the reason I have stayed away from it as I had. I was initially told that it was linked to Eastern religions and questioned how I could participate based on my faith. Marlita, I think you raised some great points though.

Congrats to all those who have seen the fruits of their labor. I will have to say that I had 2 Subway chocolate chip cookies yesterday and a slice of birthday cake today blush.gif I will do better tomorrow.

I am of course the dark-skinned girl. This is what I want to weigh again, or close to it. I can't believe I used to complain about my weight back then. wacko.gif

Hello!

While living in St Lucia for 6 months I lost 40lbs... all those mountains, walking, sweating I had no choice but to loose some pounds. After high school I was a vegetarian for 8 years and in the past year I have converted back once again. I feel so much healthier without eating meat. I must confess I do still eat fish though - its good for me! :-) I have always hated to say I was on a diet. I just try to change little things. I dont eat anything white! No white bread, no white rice and no "white" pasta. I look at the ingredients - no high fructose corn syrup on any enriched flours... I try to change my lifestyle and eat healthy.

I dont have a car and work from home so right now the gym isnt an option but this is my downfall - I need to get in some excersize someout. I have a 5 year old daughter and try to get outside with her as much as possible but with all the snow and cold neither of us are too fond of it.

I have rented a few excersize dvds and have no cooridination - what the heck can I do? I have to think of something. I would like to loose a few more pounds before April and my trip to St Lucia. if you look at my pics Louis is a skinny bean and I have ordered him to eat junk food every day! LOL I can't wait till he gets here and I can fatten him up!!! LOL

Cat

Hey Cat,
Welcome to the thread. We all need a little motivation to get this going. As I heard tonight on my way home, I should have no excuse getting out in sunny South Florida and getting my exercise on, but I just don't trust being out on my own and exercising because you never know the sickos out there. Hubby has started going to school at night, so he is not around for us to go out together. I guess I will take advantage of the weekends when he is home to get out and really try to get myself back in the gym on the nights he is out. He is a skinny bean as well and though he has put on a few pounds, he is still as skinny as ever yes.gif .
I will try to get my butt in the gym tomorrow. I have some work I am suppose to get done tonight...God Help me.

I remember hearing that there was one. That would be interesting to read.

The other day in our county library, I found a book of anancy stories and also a book of Jamaican proverbs. It was really interesting. I want to read through them again. I think I'm going to look the book up again and buy a copy.

What about getting directions in Jamaica? You just go up there so and turn left when you reach Mister Delroy's place with the old coconut tree and one cow with one bad eye. When you reach the well with no bucket you have gone too far. Go back and turn down the next road until you come to Sista Patterson's yard. Make sure you tell her I said hello. (much funnier in patois...but you get it)

If you are building a house, be sure to construct the front door to face sunrise and the back door to face sunset, exactly opposite to each other.

And something to that same effect about when burying a dead body....what is that one again? And why?

Kimmy, I think you're right. Also you must not bury the dead with shoes or they will walk at night.
