IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat is the new fee effective July 30?

Hello everyone!

I just wanna ask, how much is the new immigrant visa (IR1) fee bill thru NVC application that will take effect on July 30 ?

I am done with this already but I am asking for my cousin...i actually checked it on USCIS but i can't seem to find the one for the IV application fee...pardon me = (

ur responses will be appreciated!
tnx!

When you click the I-130 link on the USCIS forms page of the website, it gives the new fee, right before the link to download the form; it's $355: http://www.uscis.gov/i-130

A lawyer will only speed up their bank account balance. There is nothing they can do to make this process faster

Well said. I have a lawyer on our case as well and believe me, I am doing a better job than they are. If you haven't retained one already, do not waste your money. You can do a far better job than they will as it is your case and you have more of a vested interest. Put the USC as the choice of agent.

Has anyone noticed that CS has not updated their Processing time since July 16th? is this normal ?

Yes it is. They tend to update the information once a month. You will want to check back at the same time every month, so August 16th...

Did she not receive a set of instructions from the Embassy.

Depending on where she is located in Jamaica, she may not have received packet 4 from the Embassy, as Jamaica just had a hurricane (about 3 weeks ago) and parts of the island was severly damaged. It's pretty difficult to get through to Embassy personnel by phone.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCase completed, but no notification
QUOTE (Exodus2006 @ Sep 5 2007, 11:22 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi all,

It has been more than 8 weeks since husband's case was completed (July 9), but I haven't received a written notification from NVC since then.

Today I called the NVC, and the person who answered told me that I wasn't supposed to receive any notification since they still haven't scheduled my appointment at the Ciudad Juarez consulate (Mexico), that they will send me one (and a package) when they have the appointment date.

Shouldn't I receive at least a "notification of completion" or "case forwarded to the Ciudad Juarez's consulate by mail?

I'll appreciate any help with my question; I'm a little paranoic today. blink.gif

Maria

As the rep told you, you won't receive any additional correspondence from the NVC until your interview has been scheduled at the US Embassy in Ciudad.
I will have my fingers crossed that you will be scheduled for your interview soon. good.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresShould we both go to the Interview ?
In Jamaica, they will ask the USC spouse questions in the interview. I prefer to go with him, just to be there for support, but I have faith that he can do it on his own. Thankfully, living in South Florida, the fares are relatively reasonable to fly to Jamaica and I have not used much of my vacation time, so I have close to 3 weeks left. I'm taking a week off when he gets here to get his SSN, add him to bank accts, etc.
Good luck to all those with upcoming interviews.

They're both personal choices. I've heard of beneficiaries going alone to the interviews and getting approvals without any problems. Also, many of them are ok with coming to the US by themselves.

I personally chose to go to the interview with my husband to make sure there aren't any problems and to talk to the CO if he/she has any questions for me. I'm also coming back to the US with him after we get the visa (God willing) because I don't want him to deal with the hassle of immigration and connecting flight all by himself.

Ditto...Those are my plans as well.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresReceived a letter from NVC requesting DS-230

Today I received a letter from NVC that says that I am missing DS-230 and I should send it to the NVC.

"The NVC has received the requested Affidavit of Support form (I-864) for this case. However, we are still waiting for the Immigrant Visa Application (DS-230). Please submit the form according to instructions. If you need another form, please visit http://Travel.state..../info_1335.html to download a new form and complete instructions.

It also has the page with the my case bar code. However, the letter does not include any DS-230 form as the letter mentions. The automated message when I call NVC also says that I am mssing some information. I am confused about this situation. Does this letter mean that my DS230 has been generated and that I can send it now. Or do I have to wait for something else? I have read somewhere that I need to wait until the NVC message says that they need the biographic information. Thanks in advance

You can access the DS 230 form at the US Department of State travel website. This link will take you right to the page that you can access the form: http://travel.state..../info_1339.html.
Send the completed form with the page that has the bar code back to the NVC.

Good luck

The information that you are looking for can be found here.

Thanks again.
Diana - I hope that he gets his SSC soon. I wonder if you all will be in the bunch that gets 2 SSNs. That apparently is the issue that they are trying to avoid, which is why the SSA office told us to wait 21 days. It sucks that you are both still waiting to get that. Hello Tamieka, I'm glad to see your hubby is finally with you!

I am also curious about the original documentation we submitted to the NVC. They sent it all to the embassy, the embassy didn't give it to us nor the offical at the POE which was MIA. The instructions for form G-884 say "If a final decision has been issued, submit the Form G-884 to the USCIS office or service center that took the last action on your case.", but I'm not sure what that would be. It won't be the NVC because they no longer have them, it won't be the embassy because they don't have them either, then who has them? huh.gif

Also, how did your husband get his SSC so fast? It's been 4 weeks for us now and nothing and we even went to the SSA office in person to request it.

Diana

Hey Diana,

I am happy to know that your hubby is with you as well. Are you among the first batch from Colombia with the NVC scheduling the appointment? I wonder if unfortunately as the guinea pigs, we are getting the short end of the stick with getting our original documents back. mad.gif

I am so sorry to hear that it is taking so long for you both. On the DS230 we selected that we wanted them to issue his SSC; at first when we came through Fort Lauderdale, the Immigration officer told us we could go to the SSA office the next day and request it. Well we went the next day and sat there for 4 hours. When we finally got through, the rep told us to wait 21 days before we come back in and apply for the SSC. She told us that they had issues with new immigrants being assigned 2 SSCs and in order to avoid this, they have put in some guardrails. Tell the immigrant to wait 21 days and if they do not receive it, go back to the SSA office and put in the application. At this point, they check some list to see if we are on it for receiving a SSC and after they confirm whether or not we are on there, they can move forward. Hubby was so disappointed that he would have to wait, so imagine our surprise when he checked the next Tuesday and saw that it had arrived. I hope that you all get something soon.

If I hear anything about how we can request our originals, I will let you know. I also saw that form and wondered the same thing with who should receive the request. I also read the instructions that if the form is not signed it will be considered incomplete and nothing will be processed, but we have to sign it in front of an USCIS official. This would mean we have to make an Infopass appointment with an Application Support Center. I planned on calling USCIS to see if they should be the one to receive this. It is too crazy!!!

Nutty, Roy and Yazi: Thank you both for your comments. I will certainly write the letter to the Consular General in Jamaica as suggested by Nutty. It is frustrating, as my husband specifically asked the CO for the documents back, so now it's in limbo somewhere in the flurry of documents that Immigration receives.

Roy and Yazi: I found this form on the USCIS website. I reviewed the document and it stated that the form is invalid without a signature and I would have to sign in front of a USCIS official, so I may have to get an Infopass appointment for that.

Once again, thank you all for your help. luv.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresReturn of Original Documents
Hi All:

Thanks for all the help that I have received on this site for the past few months. I hope someone can offer some insight into how I can retrieve our original documents.

Initially when the NVC requested that we send in our original marriage certificate and my husband's birth certificate, we were advised that it would be returned to us when we interviewed at the Embassy. Well, this wasn't so - after our interview, my husband asked the CO if we could have our original documents back, to which she responded that she could not give it to us, as she needed to send the complete package for POE. She advised us that we should get it at POE. Again, not so; after hubby was processed at POE in Fort Lauderdale, the immigration officer again told us that he could not give it to us as he needs to send the papers to the National Records Office and we need to send a written request to get it back. WTH??? He didn't offer us any additional information as to where to mail this request, if there is a form we can fill out, anything!!! I called the NVC, the operator told me to email the information to them to see if they could advise me. I emailed them and have been directed first to the Embassy and in a separate email, I am now being directed back to USCIS. I am confused as hell and I am reaching out to my VJ family for helpsmilie.gif .

Has anyone else experienced this and been able to navigate through this confusion?

Any helpsmilie.gif would be greatly appreciated!!! good.gif

Sorry guys i should have said his case was complete on the 15th November.I am still keeping up hope for a December interview. But i just called the NVC and the operator told me they were done with scheduling interviews for London for December.
Hopefully January.
He did tell me though to keep calling there automated service and if i hear the Case forwarded to embassy then call back as an interview has been scheduled.

Fingers crossed.

From what I have seen and have experienced, it is pretty likely that he will have his interview in January. As you can see in my timeline, my case was completed mid-July and was told mid-August that our interview had been scheduled for Sept.

Praying for a Jan interview!!!

I am sure that you will both have January interviews. From what I have seen with Kingston, if your case is completed mid-month, you will hear within the following month that an interview was scheduled. For those whose case is completed later in the month, you may not get an interview date until the month following the next month. There may be a cut off date. Case in point; my case was completed in mid-July while a friend of mine had her case completed 2 weeks before mine (end of June), we both were told in August that our interview dates were scheduled. By mid-December I am sure you will have good news to tell us all good.gif

Keep pestering them for your date once December rolls in. They start scheduling interviews the second week of every month, so keep on them.

FYI - a fellow VJ member who went through Kingston, Milan: her case was completed 9/12 and she was scheduled for a November interview in mid-October.

I think I am finally beginning to catch onto some of this! Could someone confirm that if, after getting married, my husband (from Jamaica) and I (US Citizen) file an 1-130 and DS-230 (following all the guidelines), that this process (CR) does not require that we file the I-485 for adjustment of status? I am sorry if what I am asking is not clear, I'm still learning the lingo!

Thank you!

Hey Meliss3108,

Unless it was a fiance visa (K1), you will not be adjusting status. If you have been married less than 2 years by the time your hubby gets approved, you may have to file to remove conditions.
Best of luck to you and stop by the yardie thread in the regional forumsgood.gif

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 for a year old
From what I have read in the instructions for the I-130, you only need to submit a G-325 form for a spouse. All other relationships for which you are filing an I-130, do not require this form. Look at page 2 of the I-130 instructions: Documents needed to prove Family relationship. If you are filing for your spouse, then you can add your daughter's name to your spouse's G-325; otherwise, if you are only filing for her, it is not needed.
