For the most part, a RFE status online in a citizenship case is the biometrics appt letter. If they require anything else from you, you'll receive a yellow letter right before your interview. Don't worry, you're covered.
All the best to you.

It would be 3 years from when you received the 2 year GC; if you look on your 10yr GC, it will tell you the date you have been a resident since (which is similar to the date that would have been on your 2yr GC). Calculate the time from that date.
Even though technically you would still be married, even if you separate, I would wait until the 5 year time period. Don't push it. If you and your husband are able to work it out, then you can apply based on the marriage rule.
All the best to you.

US Citizenship General DiscussionApproximate time until interview?
After the biometrics, you just wait to get the appointment letter. There's no way to tell how long it will take for the interview to be scheduled. It varies state by state, office by office, case by case. Just be patient.
All the best .

US Citizenship General Discussioncitizenship under Mom

The air force is the most selective of the service branches. They require higher asvab scores for comparable specialties than other branches because more people want to join the air force. With more competition comes more reasons to be excluded.

Ok, makes sense.

How long before the daughter can apply on her own, in case the mom's oath ceremony comes after her 18th birthday?

US Citizenship General Discussioncitizenship under Mom

This doesn't seem fair. We live in a small town and the they wait until they get quite a few people before they have a ceremony. It took us a while. There is really no way to know after taking the test where you fit in the ceremony cycle. Early March after aan end of January test will probably not happen.
The little girl has been wanting to join the Air Force and was told that she should wait for citizenship for more opportunity. As an LPR there were limits on career fields.

It made more sense to me that the receipt date of the application wold be the cutoff due to various processing times. I had forgotten that fairness and good sense has nothing to do with USCIS.

I honestly don't see how it's unfair. Rules are rules and just because they don't work out to your liking, doesn't mean they are unfair; it simply is what it is. Why are they recommending that she waits until after she gets her citizenship to join the Air Force? I have friends who went into the military as LPRs and did not get any impression that they were treated unfairly or not given similar opportunities as USCs.
I hope it all works out in time for her mom and her.

From all that I am reading on the USCIS website, the mom has to get her citizenship, meaning she has to be sworn in at an oath ceremony, before her daughter turns 18 for her daughter to claim derivative citizenship. I hope that she either gets a same day oath ceremony or that she is sworn in before her daughter's birthday.
All the best to her.

US Citizenship General DiscussionN-400 July 2010 Applicants
Congratulations. Very awesome news!

Hubby's Citizenship interview today successful, he PASSED! He said the CO was a nice older lady. After swearing him in, she asked him for four forms of ID: Social Security card, Passport, Driver's License and Green Card. Then she asked him six questions:

1.What is the "rule of law"?
2.How old do citizens have to be to vote for President?
3.Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?
4.What ocean is on the West Coast of the United States?
5.Why does the flag have 13 stripes?
6.What is the name of the national anthem?

Of course, he answered all the questions correctly. Then she asked him to read the sentence, "How many US Senators do we have?" and asked him to write, "We have one hundred Senators."

After that she went over his application. At that point, hubby gave her the page we had corrected (we had forgotten a temporary address he was at when he worked in Florida for a few months). She asked him questions about that job. She also asked whether he was still married, had kids, and how many marriages for both of us. Then she had him sign the applications and said Congratulations, he had passed!

She then gave him the N-652 Naturalization Interview Results letter, stating he had passed, and the Form N-445, Notice of Naturalization Oath Ceremony on November 15 in Fresno. She said, "You won't get any additional letter by mail, this is the last letter we will give you." How great is that! USCIS saying no more letters from them – happy dance!!

In reference to your tax returns, I would bring copies of your W-2's for 2010 to the interview if you haven't filed taxes by the time it's scheduled.

Don't waste your money buying a guide for the citizenship test. Check out the link that the PP put up. Also, when you go for your biometrics you'll automatically get the civics test book with an audio cd with all the questions and answers.

Sand, was your case updated online? I'm just trying to figure out how you knew when your interview letter was mailed out.
I don't know about waiting to apply for voter registration. I applied to get my voter registration card within days of my oath ceremony (5 years ago) and I have NEVER been called for jury duty.
Anyways, CONGRATULATIONS Sand - so very happy for you

US Citizenship General DiscussionBiometrics reschedule?!

You can try to do an early walk-in biometrics, explain your situation and they may accomodate you.

Agree with Timusa...if possible, why not try a walk-in this week. Maybe midweek in the afternoon won't be too bad and I am sure given that you are close to term in your pregnancy that they will accommodate you.
All the best to you and I pray for a safe delivery for you.

The number for the FBI to inquire about the name check is 304-625-5590. Make sure that you have her receipt number, date of birth info and so forth. I can't remember all that they need to make sure that they can give you the info. Also, I have heard of people calling the USCIS number and speaking to a Tier 2 supervisor. You may want to search the topics and get some additional info.
Hope this helps.

Hi, want to ask. After the interview, do they take your GC? Or they give it to you? Thanks.

You get your GC back. They don't take your GC until your oath ceremony.

Congrats to all who are now US Citizens!

Derek and I went to the Washington, DC office in Fairfax, VA for his interview today. We got there about an hour early and just as we arrived so did the fire department and police. Turned out to be some sort of threat and everybody had been told to leave the building. We waited until Homeland Security arrived to sweep the building with their dogs but a USCIS staff member said that he doubted the building would reopen anytime soon and recommended that we leave and have the interview rescheduled. So instead of standing around in the cold with no guarantee of being interviewed, we did just that. Have no idea when they can fit Derek in again but are hoping in the next month or so. Argh.:crying:

Oh no, so sorry that you had to endure that. I hope they will schedule as soon as possible. If it's not too far from you, I would try to schedule an infopass if you don't hear from them in a few weeks.
I remember when I needed to renew my GC, the date that I had was a few days after Hurricane Wilma hit FL. The roof for the ASC was damaged and they closed for weeks. When they reopened, they hadn't sent me a new appt letter, so I called USCIS and did a walk-in the next day after my call. I had my GC in hand that same day due to the circumstances, because apparently they could do it at the support centers then.
Hopefully you will have a similar experience and not be delayed too much

dear all,

I was wondering if you have / will take a lawyer with you to the interview. Is this a standard (safe) procedure. All my papers are legal and straightforward.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thank u

If everything is straightforward and there are no worries, then no need for an attorney. I had one when I did my naturalization only because I had been denied before. But even then, there really was no need.
Good luck!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Proud that you fought the system and forced them to do their JOB! That's how you do it. They did something similar to a friend of mine - he re-filed the application. Hopefully your story will let them think twice about doing this to someone else, because we know a number of people have gone through this!

US Citizenship General DiscussionOath Letter

Hi Ja Tam,

Sorry for not updated my timeline, but I had the Oath ceremony at the University of Florida College, in Jacksonville on January 11 at 11am (01/11/11- really like this date (: ). Everything went great, I also registered to vote the same day at the same place as well.

Hope you got the date of the oath ceremony soon! and Congratulations on your interview!

Congratulations! So happy that this was resolved for you. Yes, we are (im)patiently waiting for my hubby's oath letter  . At least, I am the impatient one, he tells me that the more trying part is over, so I should be patient.
