Hello All,

Not sure if this is the right thread to say hello in, but HELLO anyway...

I'm a bit new to the site and after lurking around for a while, this thread seems like the best of all. I'm currently dating a guy that lives in Jamaica and will be filing really soon. I may have some questions since the process is new to me, so I hope I can get some good advice from some of you.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Good morning VJ Yardie family. How is your Saturday morning so far? I am still in bed resting up because I am on call to work tonight. I am being lazy. It is cloudy and dreary outside.

Enjoy the rest of the day and weekend, y'all

Luv Claire

Hey Claire,

I just came back from school and I am tired as hell. Going to the library with hubby though, then back home to rest. I am hoping to get tickets to go see "Bashment Granny" in North Miami later this evening or tomorrow evening kicking.gif .

Have a great afternoon and lots of rest heart.gif rose.gif

What a day on the board. I wouldn't worry about cory prospering even if he does get married she will be looking at him out the corner of her eye and

mr jengles has been diagnosed with diabetes and he's taking it really hard, we've had a stressful couple of weeks, with him wanting to go back to ja as not to be a burden on me. he's liking diabetes to hiv, i told him that here diabetes is managable. it didn't help that his doctor was not helpful, i asked the man what was a high reading as to cause mr jengles to go to the hospital and the doctor wanted to know "why I asked that question" can you even imagine? plus as you guys know, he wants to work he is taking the inactivity hard. He'll be working a few days next week, so he's looking forward to that.

mr jengles feels a bit better now, we spent the day in the hospital yesterday and everyone he met was a immigrant, who told him, he needed to slow down and get himself established and stop stressing so he could get his sugar under control, the phone calls from ja don't help. I finally said to him, why are they calling you, you don't have a job and they are stressing you. and they are calling in the day when i'm not home. dat mi nuh like.

Jengles, I am so sorry to hear of his diagnosis. I hope that he will recognize that he will be better able to manage it here than home in JA.

As JG mentioned Andre's sickle cell, my cousin actually had a very bad attack last week and had to be in the hospital. He was just released this morning. hopefully he will be fine for the remainder of his visit here in Florida - he's going home at the end of the month.

Sickle cell is a very sore point for me, my cousin died from complications from the sickle cell, she just gave up.

Andre's one sister died from it too. She got poor medical care in Jamaica, mostly from her own stupidity.

My aunt tries to stay on top of how he manages his sickle cell disease. She tries to make sure that he gets the type of food suggested by the doctor when he was younger. I pray that he doesn't give up and I know that she will do everything in her power to ensure that he is okay.

I am so sorry to hear of both your experiences. sad.gif

*********THURSDAY CHUCKLE*********

The Dying Husband

Marcus was shocked and saddened. But, being a solid character, he managed to compose himself and walk
from the doctor's office into the waiting room, where his son had been waiting.
"Well son, we Jamaicans celebrate when tings good, and we even celebrate when tings nuh so good. In dis case, tings nuh so good. Mi have cancer. Mek we go a de bar go drink two juice."

After 3 or 4 Red Stripe, the two were feeling a little less somber. There were some laughs and some more rum. They were eventually approached by some of Marcus' old friends, who were curious as to what the two were celebrating. Marcus told them that the Jamaicans celebrate the good as well as the bad. He went on to tell his friends that they were drinking to his impending end. He told his friends, "Dem tell mi seh mi have AIDS."

The friends gave Marcus their condolences, and they had a couple more drinks . After the friends left, Marcus' son leaned over and whispered his confusion. "Pops, mi tink yu seh yu have cancer, but now yu jus tell yu fren dem seh yu have AIDS! " Marcus said, "Mi nuh waant none a dem a sleep wid yu Madda aftah mi gaan!!! "

Hey all ... new to the Board . . . was brought here on an expected "journey" today . . .

Learned that my boyfriend is also Nicky "Salmon's" current fiance'. She last saw him in March. I met him in April and have been back to see him 3 times. He and I have been planning our future together . . . and I'm thankful that I was smart enough to make him wait a year before I filed for a Visa, or I'd be in the same position Nicky is.

I've struggled all day . . . have talked to Nicky several times. He's telling her that we were just friends, LOL. I have photos, text messages, etc. I've shared it all with Nicky -- but she's in a quandary as to what she should do . . .

Give her love and support, folks. Her financial investment over this lying and cheating man is only gonna increase when she brings him and his son over here to Florida and she has to support them for a long time. I say cut your losses now, Girl!

Here's a picture of Corey and I taken in August when I was last there to see him and his family (yes -- they ALL know about me).

I absolutely and agree with you 1000% !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As she stated the 2 of them have spoken before this post. This a forum where you can speak about anything. This happens MORE than anyone really really knows and gets posted ....and not just with Jamaican/American relationships. I commend you for coming out and sharing this with all of us and your post was written nicely.

If "my man" was cheating, I would contact the other woman as well. This is NOT RIGHT for both of you!!!!

I was in the same boat as well, but "I" didn't find out until after he got here!!! I spoke to the other woman (several times)and SHE was absolutely clueless as to why he was here and we both shed some light on both of our "relationships" and spoke to each other in a mature adult manner. She had met him after me too AND had only seen him 2x (and been to Jamaica only 2x)!!!! As anyone knows me, this has ruined our relationship !!!

These guys......(and some women) trying to have 2 relationships at once.....just plain ole stupidity AND it's alllll about karma. This would have come out later on down the line and I'm glad it came out now BEFORE he WERE to come here!!!

"I" am here for both of these ladies!!! We are not here to "bash" either one of the them, that's just absolutely ridiculous and completely immature thing to do. We ALL should be here for BOTH of you because this is a very difficult time!!! It's not THEIR fault that they are BOTH in this situation and being taken advantage of, it's about KARMA for the goofball !!!!!!!

well, well said!!

Ditto...I don't know what I would do if I found myself in this situation. I would want to know as well and I would want my VJ family to be aware of what has/could happen. If this was between another VJ'er that we have gotten to know and love, would the reactions towards one putting it out there be the same? Nuff love and blessings to both Nicky and Lilly, this is some mess crying.gif

Also if you have any other suggestions on a good bday excursion or idea for that day let me know.

Thanks wub.gif

The funny thing is he got his own life insurance policy on October 1st. Ever since then, a lot of my conversations seem to hint at me killing him or him dying. I even made him sign a durable power of attorney and advanced directive, mostly for the AOS removing conditions next year. Anyhow, he's made little comments here and there which hint that he is scared I may actually kill him one day. It makes me smile devil.gif Whatever keeps him in line is fine with me!

OK guys.....I want to talk serious here for a moment. About something that has recently happened in my life. I tell you this in hopes that it can save someone else some pain and heartache in the future.

My husband lost all sense of....well, all common sense, in June and decided he needed a pair of shorts bad enough to shoplift them from J.C. Penneys. After the fact, I found out he had been watched going into the dressing room with two pairs of shorts, coming out with just one. He had been followed out of the store. A mall cop ran after him and chased him I'd say a quarter of a mile, at least, to a nearby restaurant, where they found him in the women's restroom and the shorts in the trash can. He was not arrested nor fingerprinted (thank God). He went to mall jail, got a summons, and was relesaed. Of course, I blew a gasket at the news.

I immediately contacted a lawyer friend of mine who got us in touch with a criminal attorney. And, of course, I researched the laws regarding immigration and this issue. I really write this today because when this happened, I asked on this board and no one had any answers. That was scary to me. According to my research, as long as he spent less then 365 days in jail, he would not be deported. However, when readin g the forms for use when we apply for his 10 year green card and then later for naturalization, they don't just ask if he has ever been arrested (NOT), they ask if he has ever been detained or charged. A completely different thing. I was scared.

Fast forward to last night.......after 2 continuances and a conference with an immigration attorney, Andre pleaded down to trespassing and fined $100 plus $62.50 in court costs. After the initial shock of our lawyer saying he thought the fine would be $500-1,000 and could involve community service and a bigger charge, I was relieved to say the least. The immigration lawyer also said this would be of no impact on any future immigration issues.

After celebrating our good fortune, I ended with reminding my husband that those stupid pair of $40 shorts still ended up costing us $662.50 and the next time he plans on spending that much, it better be on something with the Louis Vuitton logo on it for me.

Just a word of warning all.....some little mistake that was done in a moment of weakness could end up sending your entire world crashing down around you. it is more important as immigrants. Please remind your SO of this. It could be shoplifting. It could be drunk driving. It could be drug charges of some kind. Whatever. Remind them of how important it is to keep themselves out of trouble.

JG, thanks so much for sharing. I'm happy that it may not be an impact on his immigration status; this is a very important issue to raise

He stop working last week but still had all of his police gear up to today. He sound so sad. He was trying to be upbeat for me but I know this was probably one of the hardest things he has had to do. He has been doing this for 18+ years. I am hoping now he will start to pack finally

I can not believe the time is almost here!!!!!

All the pictures were really lovely. Every one look so in love!!. I will try to upload a picture of David and I. When he were here in June we took picture every time we change clothes to use for our interview. But we did not need any of that stuff.

Jenice

kicking.gif kicking.gif kicking.gif WOOO-HOOO, I am so happy for you Jenice. I was going to call and ask if the date has been finalized. I know it is bitter-sweet for David, but we all have to make changes. It is going to be different for him, but it won't compare to finally being here with you. Jenice, you know that I am jumping for joy over here for you dancin5hr.gif dancin5hr.gif dancin5hr.gif

CaribbeanUSCIS Ofc in Kingston closing
USCIS to Close it's office in Kingston I hope you guys will be able to clarify. With the USCIS Field Office closing in Kingston and all responsibilities transfering to the Santo Domingo office, what does this mean for IV interviews beyond this date? Just curious...

USCIS Service CentersWhy a 3rd Biometrics Appointment?
Try contacting the FBI to see if the fingerprints were sent successfully to the USCIS electronically. The number is 304-625-5590. I am not sure if you have an A number, but I know that you usually need that information along with date of birth, etc. for them to give you just that info. Give them a call and see what they tell you.
All the best to you.

United KingdomIs a lawyer worth the money
QUOTE (Matt and Sarah @ Oct 31 2007, 09:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
This website is far better than any lawyer...they are basically charging you big money to file your paper work for you...of which you still have to get organized yourself anyway. Unless your case is going to be pretty complicated, you can get all the guidance you need right here in my opinion. And if it gets sticky, you can always call your local congressman to prod the process along.

I agree. I regret using a lawyer on my husband's I-130. It was a waste of our time and money; I think that the lack of urgency on our attorney's part slowed up the process considerably for us. If your case is not complicated, I would stick with VJ and work through the process. I would tell my attorney what to expect based on the information I got here on VJ yes.gif

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaInterview Date

Congrats to everyone else who received their interview dates. We are finally at this point now. One step at a time

Thanks everyone for your responses. I'm going to think on it for a couple of days and then figure out what I am going to do. Boy! This is a tough one. On top of all that, I'm in grad school and will be attending this fall. So all soughts of factors play in this one. Melvin is saying that it is my decision so we'll see. Thanks everyone for your follow ups. I really appreciate it. Now let see how long it takes for us to get Packet 4 and if there will be enough time for us to schedule the medical appt. They said they mailed it out today. We'll see

Congratulations on your interview and good luck in grad school. I know how hard it is. I am 2 classes away from my Masters degree and it hasn't been easy with thinking about getting Aaron here.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaInterview Date

Oh good. Are you going down? I'm leaning more towards going then not going. I don't know. I know me and I know that I would have a guilty feeling if I didn't go and he doesn't get it.

Try to go, it would look good for him. If you have a pretty reasonable boss, then talk to him/her about giving you these days. When I first started my job, I had not been home in over a year to see my family. I took the chance and asked for the time off and they gave me with pay, even though I was not yet eligible for any vacation time.
As they say, "nothing beats a trial but a failure"

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaInterview in two weeks!!!! (8/9/07)

Hello

Thanks for the information. I am not going to the interview. I hope this doesn't hurt our chances for an approval. I emailed the consulate and they said I didn't have to accompany him to the interview.

My fiance went for his medical examination today and paid for his police cetificate, you were right he paid J$2000. We just need to complete a few forms and we will be ready for the 9th!!

Great, happy that I could help. Good luck on the interview. I hope it all goes well. Let us know how it went!

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaInterview in two weeks!!!! (8/9/07)

Hello -

I'm new to the thread.....this process has been very challenging. My fiance has his medical exam tomorrow and will be going to apply for his police cert., does anyone know how much it cost for express delivery? Also, we haven't been asked to complete an affidavit of support should I send him my information anyway???

Thanks for the help

I tell you Denise, sometimes husbands have no use ;), but you've got to love them . My hubby went and did it a few weeks ago and he said he spent roughly J$2000. Have him call the Ministry of National Security ((876) 906-4908-33)and they will tell him.
Congratulations on the interview! Are you planning to go?

When I sent papers through Fedex my fiance got them pretty quick. They even delivered right to his door. I was impressed. It was about $40 US to send for 3 day delivery.

Ditto - FedEx has worked well for us.
