K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMaking an appointment for K1 visa (Juarez)

Hi all,

I'm trying to make an appointment for the K1 visa interview in Juarez but I want ask a question before I submit my request:

What is the "DS-260 Number"? Is that the 10 number/letter "Confirmation No." on the DS-260 confirmation sheet?

Thanks!

I think it is an 8 digit number...we had to call the NVC for this, they told me that it is not printed on our papers...NVC 603-334-0700 they are very nice!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMaking an appointment for K1 visa (Juarez)
I was just in Mexico trying to arrange all this from a cyber-cafe...what a mess. I do remember at one point in the process we had to actually call the NVC for a BENEFICIARY ID# this is an 8 digit number that I could not get anywhere else!!! (NVC was really nice...you need to get two things from them, the INVOICE ID# & also the BENEFICIARY ID#) NVC phone number is 603-334-0700
We gave up trying to arrange it all from Mexico & flew home 2 days ago since the Petitioner needs to go to work Monday. Yesterday, from the comfort of a home computer we finally discovered how to pay online for Juarez interview but we only discovered it after paying over the phone...which is awful!!! you wait ages & they say the MRV conf# really fast & you better write it down fast!!! they do not repeat it...they say would you like us to repeat the number...but they just hang up! We did this 3 times, Heaven only knows what the phone bill will be. Then we got the numbers & made the appointments online, they had appointments open about 2 weeks out, you need to get appointment for ASC (fingerprinting) & also for the actual consulate interview. I did think the girl was very nice & helpful on the phone tho' it took approximately 20 minutes to get a real person. She was also sweet to us about the frustration we were feeling in the confusing way the website & stuff is laid out!

hey nicest friend, did you read what I posted for you about medical for the kids? You go early Monday pick results up Wed pm. Asc Tue. Interview Thu. That's how we are planning to do it. We asked a notary and he said he had a format for the letters for the kids. I'm waiting for one passport I'm missing and I will get it on July 11th, that same day I will schedule appts. I'm supposed to get it about 10 days after. I'm glad you're still going before me haha I wish you all guys best luck, it's exciting!!

Darn it! I was hoping you would go first!
Ok here is what we discovered, you need to cal NVC 603-334-0700 to get a special invoice ID# for the group mom & kids...and also a Beneficiary ID# FOR EACH PERSON!!! (kids too) You need this for filling out online forms.

you can pay online though we did not find that part of the website until we paid over the phone (terrible paying by phone for 3 people so try to do it online Sarah!!!) You need to dig deep in the website. It is hard doing this for one person but all the repeating for the kids is really rough! Even filling out forms with all the information in hand is utterly frustrating.

We have a WRONG expiration date on the youngest kids passport info so when we finally spoke to someone she said for Lupita to ask to have it corrected at the interview since it is not something they can fix now...(hope we don't have to leave poor 10 year old Kevin behind jijiji)

I was able to make appointments for about 2 weeks out...so plan for that, they also had SAturday appointments for ASC.

Thanks Sarah for medical info...here is our plan

Thursday June 23-fly into Juarez airport from Cancun/DF (will text & call a man from El Paso named Victor Garcia 915-726-0957...he is recommended by a personal friend as a taxi driver with a BIG taxi he speaks English & Spanish & will pick you up at Juarez airport take you to Hotel while giving a little tour of consulate, medical & ASC locations...he will also drive you across the border later, I will be getting intouch with him this week to organise the pick up)
Friday June 24-Medical for Lupita & both boys
Saturday June 25-We have scheduled the ASC in the afternoon for all 3
Sunday June 26-Relax in the hotel
Monday June 27-pick up Medical results from the tests on Friday
Tuesday June 28-Early 7:15 am scheduled appointment at consulate for the interview (here is where me as the super best friend will sit alone in a panic for several hours!!!!)

So this means iff they are approved on Tuesday we will have wed, thurs, fri to maybe with luck get delivery of the visas at DHL, since we are waiting for them in Juarez...if we get them fast...we will cross to El Paso & fly to Minnesota in time for 4th of July celebrations!!!
PRAY for us...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresappointment made & paid
Ok...after a most hilarously convaluted & frustrating experience trying to pay for appointments & make appointments for medical, ASC & actual interview...all from a ciber-cafe en Cozumel Mexico with 5 hours of insane-ness!!! We finally had to come home for the petitioner to go to work at his new job! Got here last night.
Today from the USA we were able to make appoinments & pay fees...but I (best nicest friend of future Bride & Groom) will now fly back to Cozumel in 9 days and then 4 days later will acompany Lupita & the 2 kids to Cd Juarez for all the new frustration!!!
AHHHHHHHHHH! a most frustrating website & phone system evaaaaa, then doing all of it 3 times since there are 2 children involved...wow, just WOW!
I would not wish this on anyone, it is a very difficult system.
Anyway...will try to be back online with updates as we go forward.

nope...you can not fix mistakes...but when we called for interview we told the girl we had wrong expiration dates on the passport info of one child...she said to tell them at the interview to please correct it since no one is able to get into the system & make changes

YES YES YES this was our trouble in Mexico filling out the form! It is odd right??? so we filled out a 160, but now we need to go back in and do the 260...we are going to put in spouse, tho' it is technically fiancee'
Honestly very confusing...
I suggest you put spouse...this is what tripped us up, so we actually flew home to USA to figure it all out!!! :bonk:

I would like to know the exact same thing....

I was on the phone to make the consulate biometric & interview appointments & they asked is we had chosen our DHL location, we said yes (in Juarez) she then said yes, she could see that...I think they could change the location if you call them! 703-439-2313

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCuidad Juarez - Medical Exam

I am seeing some post by VJ members saying that the medical exam needs to be done in USA, but I am confused by that being that they don't have permission to enter yet........... for K-3, CR-1 visas. As far as having them done in Mexico, in Cuidad Juarez, I have heard there are only a couple of doctors that are "accepted" by the USA Immigratation Progress..... those who have gone through this, can you help clarify? Also, if your exam was done in Mexico, where did you go, was it costly, how long before you got your results back? I do know that a medical exam for AOS is needed and that one would take place in the USA, but isn't the one I am referring to.

Medical must be done at one of the two approved clinics in Juarez...I belive (not positive) that you can ask for copies of your medical to be used in the USA at your AOS appointments...someone chime in on this???
I will be going thru Juarez in two weeks so can comment farther on this in the future.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS 260

If your Consulate requires this form, then write in Fiancee. Writing in Spouse for someone who isn't a spouse may cause you problems later on either for misrepresentation or by saying that spouse's are not eligible for a K-1 visa. Better to go with what is accurate even if you have to write it in later - or at the very least find somewhere on the form where you can state fiancee, not spouse.

This is an impossible form since you can not WRITE in anything in this particular field...it is a DROPDOWN MENU...no choice of Fiancee is given.
we finally put in spouse...
SUPER FRUSTRATING!

do you pay online? or which is the best way at the bank Banamex???

well, we paid over the phone since we could not figure out where to pay on the website (terrible website...yuck!)
But I don't recommend phone payment because if you don't listen closely and write down the confirmation MRV payment # really fast then you will need to pay again...NO REFUNDS!!! also when they say do you want us to repeat this number & you press 1 or 2 or whatever is it for yes...they don't repeat it, they just hang up on you!!!
we discovered after paying by phone that if you dig deeper into the website you can actually pay online with a credit card. TRY TO DO THIS! I can't remember exactly where it is but we found it when trying to make the appointment on the site...so do your best to find that spot!
try here...

try clicking on immigrant visas
then go to 'click here' to log on...????

My predicament is that if I'm asked what my nationality is, I wouldn't say to that person "United States of America... I meant to say above that I'm not United States of America, I'm United States of America CITIZEN,

Sooooo I feel by putting U.S.A. I'm answering a question that asks: What are you? And I answer: I'm a country.

:bonk:

And I totally understand I could be completely overthinking this here, so if I am to put "U.S.A." in the blank that asks "Nationality/Citizenship" is there anyone here that ran into issues with that answer or has a better answer??

I ALWAYS put USA, America is the continent so Mexican people for example are also from America.
USA is correct

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDS 260

Hi Kim,

Finally it went through the DS260. Now I have an issue with the scheduling the appoitment for ASC and the Consular Interview. When I am in the website in mexico.usvisa-info.com when I log in and I follow all the steps to schedule appoitments I do know know what it is if the ASC or the Consular Interview. How do you differenciate between these two things or how do you find out the information? any advise will help me with this matter. Thank you :-)

The ASC is a quick 15 minute appointment you can do in Juarez for photo & fingerprinting (this is a new thing they do, it is free) you need this at least one day before your interview.
Do the interview appointment after Medical (early morning) ASC in the afternoon or next day- then schedule the interview!
Best of luck! Suerte y espero que todo esta bien! Este proceso esta dificil, no?

You can then deliver it all in person, or maybe send it DHL or Estafeta...we brought it to her in person

For some reason they sent Lupita & kids to some other place when she went for medical she had to text me at hotel and ask for her fiancee's 2010 tax forms...not sure why she needed it at medical, she thought it was cuz of the kids?????? Anyway will know more when they get back here to hotel. The front desk send about 6 pages for me for free! Nice here at La Quinta hotel, anyway if you are bringing ki to medical I suggest you bring all your papers since it appears even at medical they ask for weird stuff...she had passports, invitation letter & email confirmation plus US dollars to pay medical fees.

Hi everyone...we are here in Juarez for medicals ASC & interview...got here last night, I tried to get a specific driver to pick us up but he did not get back to me in time so we just grabbed a taxi at hotel it was only $21 usd for all 4 of us cheep! Driver showed us where everything was as he drove us to hotel...i tipped him $5 since he actually was great & helped alot with our bags. We are at La Quinta hotel & it is very nice, the people are so used to everyone being here for consulate that they help you along! Really excellent! I spoke to lots of people on the the airplane & here at hotel who I've he they say not to worry about the violence in the city since it orally is in this part of town. This is also a well guarded gated hotel & we all felt safe enough to walk across the street after dark for yummy tacos! They have a free shuttle service to everywhere here so Lupita & kids got up at 5 am for the 6 am shuttle. You need to get your name on the list the night before if you want early shuttle service! I will send a report when Lupita & kids get back from the medical appointment. I sent her with, cash for medicals, passports, invitation letter, confirmation email.
Juarez is very hot 104 degrees F!!! But it is very dry not humid so I don't think it is as bad as Cancun hahahaha! Nice pool here at hotel...great for kids!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUpdate from cd Juarez
Ok here is what to watch out for!
The coyotes have nice badges they look professional, they approach you in front of the medical clinics as you walk to the clinic from the van...ignore everyone! Say NO NO No leave me alone please!
They told Lupita she needed a special paper to enter the medical since she was K1 I was not with her though I see now I could have gone along! I even informed her of coyotes but they are so professional they even have an office across the street with computers they took her passport and papers and entered all her information into their computer printed out her rel stuff!!! Like the stuff I had already done for her interview! They made her pay a bit over $250 gave her reciept then drove her to real clinic. It is freaky cuz they now have all her data and phone number etc...bastards!
The thing is they like to get the early people in front of clinic since they are tired, nervous, hungry etc since you have been traveling and usually do the medical the first early morning.
Now I will write in not very perfect Spanish;
I hope this helps everyone!
Today is Sunday Domingo, so we are relaxing...tomorrow, monday we go get clinic results of kids TB tests which we did last Friday, then Tuesday is the actual interview! Quite the experience here!
Friday we took hotel transport van to S-Mart near hotel and bought food for our room...we walked back to hotel very close, at around 2pm sunny day. Then yesterday on the way for fingerprints at the ASC we passed the same S-Mart while in the van...they were cleaning up blood in the parking lot where we had been just 24 hours earlier...3 people shot & murdered in broad daylight in front of S-Mart at 11am on a Saturday! Wow...we don't walk anywhere now we only use hotel. Transport I recommend everyone do the same.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresUpdate from cd Juarez
Hi everyone waiting for Juarez info!
Yesterday Lupita went on 6am transport van to her medical, bummer I did not go with because she got taken by coyotes for $250 us dollars they tricked her though I had informed her what to do so everyone be careful! They actually took her & kids in a van to an office got all her info entered into a computer took phone number etc...she then got some papers from them & paid a big fat lie of $250! These guys are so professional, I got a call in hotel room saying she needed more money & I went to pay what she had lost! Bummer bummer bummer! I am just happy they did not hurt her & kids! On the street with me we were approached several times & I just said 'Largate' y 'Dejame en Paz!' these guys are slick so watch out!
Anyway all the medicals are complete kids will pick up TB test results at 11:00am Monday. Today is ASC at 1:40pm. Tuesday is the big day interview!
More updates later...Kim

Did she need the police certificates???
and CONRGRATULATIONS ON THE APPROVAL

NO police certificates...they did not ask for any y we did not bring any! They asked if she was ever in trouble in USA she said she was never in USA they asked if she was every arrested in Mexico she answered honestly that NO she was never arrested! All good, Lupita y kids approved y now we wait for passports with attached visas to get to DHL

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCd Juarez Waybill number
Ok here is what I know now!
Lupita did not need police certificate!
As for the way bill number, a family that went to the interview same day as us on Tuesday got the visas at DHL today Thursday! They have it in their hands!
We went to DHL today and they said we need the way bill number but it is still saying no info on the page at this time so we will keep checking...I feel a bit jealous that someone that was with us the same day same interview time is already with visa in their hands...but maybe later today or tomorrow!
Dang waybill number hurry up!
As for kids Sarah they did not pose much of a problem, we are feeding them free breakfast here in hotel, went to walmart y smart for sandwich stuff. Ther is free Internet all over hotel so your laptops work in the rooms plus cable tv with lots of channels...they can,t go into pool until the TB test is checked but now there is lots of time for swimming in pool y jacuzzi!
Make your reservation here with extra days if you use the HOMEDL code for disccout price since starting today the price goes up by $6 I reserved 8 days y today is day 9
I am happy i have had so much information from this wesite y today I paid it forward helping my 3 rd person with computer stuff at hotel computers (also free to use) here at la Quinta hotel.
We will keep checking the website all day for waybill number y say more prays to get home before forth of July festivities!

Since we registered for our DHL location, & I see our names on the www.us visa-info.com site but it does not give a number or anything yet, I am wondering if this is where we will get the way bill number or do I need to register for something else?

We are in Juarez waiting for the visas so will be here a week or more.
Help anyone on how to find this information please!
Kim

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCDJ Checklist - Please review!

Great, thanks! Yes, I used the discount for La Quinta, so we will save some $$$. Yes, the confirmation letter is the email I am referring to, so I have that as well. Good advice on the coyotes. It is my fiance and her daughter, so I am going with them everywhere, I don't care if I have to wait in the hot sun while they do they're stuff, I don't want them out there alone. Thanks!

Yes go with them every where...sun is not to bad since you can wait inside with them at medical.. I like the blue medical building, it has nice breezy shaded waiting room so try to go there! (Say hi to Angel the morning driver at La Quinta shuttle service & tell him la gringa con Lupita y los niños got into USA in time for 4 de Julio!!!)
The ASC is the only appointment that was really sunny for waiting, but it is a short wait & well timed they put a big sign in the window saying now accepting people with 1:40pm appontments etc...you can not go in but lots of folks are waiting outside & there is an OXXO to buy a soda pop!
the consulate has seating to wait at outside & time went fast cuz so many others are waiting!
I will write my big review today so go read that later for all the details!
Have fun! with the children it was 8 days total in Juarez!

Anything else? Thanks everyone for your input. I've read the reviews on CDJ and they've been very informative.

If you stay at La Qunita use this code for online discount...HOMEDL...saved us about $10 per day!!!!

You will take the original birth certificates to DHL along with fiancees ID (like electoral card...since she won't have passport they have it at DHL) you can not go into DHL with her, she needs to go in alone but you can wait outside)
when you put your finacial info together put your tax from 2010 right under the I-134 afidavit of support...then put 2009, then work stuff. They keep all your finacial stuff & I think they just quickly look at what you earn...at least that is what happened to us!
The confirmation letter you are talking about is the confirmation email , right? cuz that is what we needed.
Go with you fiancee everywhere & wait outside or go in where ever they let you (like at Medical) They coyotes try to get you the first day outside the medical they are fantastically organized jerks, with shirts printed up to say they are with the medical places, they have ID & everything. TALK TO NO ONE UNTIL INSDE MEDICAL BUILDING!!!
I recommend two originals of birthcertificates so you can bring a copy here to USA for school or any other thing you may need it for.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNVC Invoice Number - Juarez

Thanks, hey did you receive your packet 3 at an address in Mexico? We got our NOA2 in May and haven't received anything in Mexico, my fiance in the US received a letter with instructions but that's it. I'm a little bit lost, so anything you can say will be highly appreciated.

Caro.

Our US Citizen recieved the invitation letter , however it NEVER arrived at the home of Mexican fincee...we just used a copy of the invitation letter at Juarez with no problem! Just scan it & send it on email. Make several copies for Juarez...easy as can be!
We were approved easily.
You will not get anything else, if you have your NOA2 you just need to mnake your appointment & go to Juarez! Congrats...

hello all,

I have received the letter from NVC that with our case number (cdjxxx...). When I follow the instructions to schedule an appointment on http://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx, I am asked for an NVC invoice number. I have found a web-site that indicates that my date of birth is the invoince number. With that said, the web-site is not accepting our case and invoice number. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks.

We had to call the NVC to get our case number...it is not on any of your papers!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresquick question
Yes do the letter of intent in English, if you are going to see him soon...get all the papers he needs to sign & bring them with. I also think you should check that your passport photos are exactly 2X2 inches & done correctly since we had an RFE for our photos (we did them in Mexico & did not get correct size) it slowed down our pettition by about a month!

They like fresh nice non stained or rumpled copies...I suggest you go to get at least 3 NEW originals (they will not take a photocopy)
Yes you will need many of them in Juarez & also in the USA when you go for your marriage license etc...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresk1 visas in juarez

has anyone been to juarez for the k1 interview? was it dangerous? i read its one of the worlds dangerous cities?

It is dangerous however we just came thru Juarez with 2 kids & if you are smart & do some homework on where to stay...you will be safe.
It took us 9 days with the 2 children for K1 visa because children need a TB test that takes 3 days to develop under the injection site. We stayed at La Quinta Hotel, made the reservations online with this discount code HOMEDL to save money & they also have a free shuttle everywhere! Don't worry it is not too scary! We actually had some fun hanging by the pool...but the best was walking across the border to El Paso Texas. You will find many reviews here about juarez & I am happy to help with any questions when it comes time to get hotel & everything!
best wishes, Kim
