IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFiche Anthropometrique
Hey everyone,

Do any of you know what A Fiche Anthropometrique is? This is related to Morocco. The information on the Department of State's website states this:

A Fiche Anthropometrique can be obtained by resident citizens of Morocco upon presentation of the new format National Identification Card (Carte Nationale), a stamped self-addressed envelope, and a fee to the Service de l'Anthropometrie of the Central Police Station of the place of residence. [For schedule of fees, applicants should contact the Moroccan consular office nearest their place of residence.] Non-resident Moroccan citizens may request a Fiche Anthropometrique by writing directly to the Direction General de la Surete Nationale, Fichier Central de L'Anthropometrie, Rabat. The number and date of issue of the new format Carte Nationale must be included in the request. The fiche Anthropometrique is delivered only to bearers of the new format Carte Nationale.

Now, my husband does not have the new Identity card, as his is still valid for another 8 years so there is no need to get one. The police station had never heard of this....

Any ideas?

We appreciate your help!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK3 interview April 2nd. NVC just scheduled CR1
Neither of us really want to wait for the CR1 interview since it's 6 weeks away.

What happens if he interviews for the K3 and is approved (one can only hope) and then flies here to the USA? Do we need to cancel the CR1 interview and then just continue on with the AOS and EAD?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresApproved K3 but CR1 interview in a few weeks
Hi Everyone,

My husband had his interview for the K3 about 2 weeks ago and we recently contacted the consulate who said that they should be calling him for his passport this coming week. The interview for the CR1 was set for May 14th, we keep going back and forth on wanting to wait for that since it will offer more possibilities once he is here.

How does this work, if he receives the visa for the K3 can he just go interview for the CR1 too? Are they able to change it?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresShould I hire a lawyer?
I'm a US Citizen who just got married to a Moroccan. I've reviewed the forms and they seem pretty clear to me, is it worth it to hire a lawyer? Has anyone done this themselves who could give me some information on their experience?

Thanks!

Any other insights on the File Number at the top of the page, the box as an 'A' in bold so i'm assuming this number should begin with A. however I don't have any file numbers since I have not yet submitted the I-130 and the G-325A is a required part of the I-130.

Thanks!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresFee's
Ok, so there's the initial $355 fee to submit the I-130.
Then there's another fee of $400 for the AOS fee bill
and then another for $70.00 for the AOS fee bill.

Is that correct? Also, has anyone had a medical exam in morocco? where do they send you?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresTrying Not To Jinx It...
Trying not to jinx it... but my husband was call on Friday to bring his passport today to the consulate. I called them after he dropped it off to ask when he should pick it up and they said that they recommend spending the night in the city because it will be issued tomorrow and he will be called tomorrow.

We're both trying not to get excited until it's in hand... but it's hard not to be excited!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat Happens Next
So what happens next...

My husband picked up his visa earlier this week and we plan to have him arrive in the US on the 18th. The visa received is the CR1. What is his work authorization? Is that just the visa that they put in his passport or is that received later after he has arrived?

I guess we're just so used to having a guide to follow and needing to do things that I'm just not sure what we should be doing right now or what he should make sure to bring as documents for things that he will need in the future from Morocco.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense.... I hope it does though smile.gif

Thanks everyone!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK3 filers who decided to CR-1
You would want to cancel the interview for the K3 when it's scheduled with the embassy. No other risks involved. The CR1 is definitely the better of the two and the cheaper of the two. But if money isn't an issue why not do both. My husband and I did both and he interviewed for both. If you were to interview for the K3 and be issued the K3 you can still stay for your CR1 interview and interview for that one too, when you're approved for the CR1 it would just cancel the K3. All you're out then is the fee for the K3 interview, ours was $131.00

It definitely won't hurt you that you haven't lived together. But I agree, never leave anything blank. It could be interpreted as not completing the application.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLied on 1-130.. will i get into trouble if caught
The I 130 is completed by the petitioner however it does ask on page 2 to "list the husband/wife and ALL children of your relative"

So the petitioner is ultimately responsible in this case since they completed and signed the form. However, if the beneficiary kept 4 children a secret from her, I have to say he's a complete creep and if she knowingly left the children off then she's going to be held liable for it. Hopefully she didn't know about it and can prove it.

If I were him, I don't know who I would fear more... ICE or the scorned women coming after him headbonk.gif

I already have my greencard.

what do you think?

wait. off topic.

Yes, you are in trouble and your green card can very possibly be revoked.

Queston: When you were filling out the forms, and knowing you were forgetting 2 kids, were you then thinking, "She will never find me in USA to collect child support" If so, pack the bags and surrender Greencard.

Well since on the I130 it states where you sign:

"YOUR CERTIFICATION: I certify, under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States of America, that the foregoing is true and correct. Furthermore, I authorize the release of any information from my records that U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services needs to determine eligiblity for the benefit that I am seeking."

I would say yes, you would be in trouble. Knowingly falsifying documents to the government is never a good idea!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresPOE at JFK!
JFK was great for us. My husband had to wait a long time because there were 3 people in front of him that were having issues with their papers and didn't speak english well but he said that the officers were extremely friendly and patient with them. Everyone was nice and once the processing for him began it went quickly.

I have heard however, that the later in the day you arrive the less people there are at CBP. So, if you can arrange for your flight to arrive in the evening.

Congrats!

Hello. I am sure the following questions have been asked many many times....If you could be kind and point me to the right direction, I will be much obliged.

Questions:

1) When completing the G-325A, I put my job title as "Engineer", however it has changed to "IT Support". Will this cause a problem when I complete I-864 or any other document from this point forward?
It shouldn't be a problem at all. I had the same thing happen to me when I was promoted at work. I had my HR person write on my letter of employment my original hire date and title and then my new title as well as my date of promotion along with my new salary.

2) When I applied for my wife, I did it as a K3, sent the I-130, then I-129F. Now, I want to drop the K3 and only continue with IR1/CR1. What do I need to do to drop the K3 and just go with CR1?

I would just suggest letting the embassy know that you won't be interviewing for the K3. Some people suggest to just not show up for it, but I would rather be in contact with the embassy when the interview date is scheduled and let them know that you'll be doing the CR1. The Casablanca embassy even suggested to my husband when he did the K3 interview that he should just wait the month for his CR1 interview. We interviewed for both and received the CR1 visa.

I am a July filer, so hopefully my time at NVC should come up soon, thank you in advance for taking the time to read it and assisting me.

From the State Department website:

QUOTE
National Visa Center (NVC) Sends Petition To Post

After the USCIS approves the I-129F, it sends it to the National Visa Center (NVC). The NVC sends the petition to the embassy or consulate in the country where the marriage took place. If your marriage took place in the United States, the NVC sends the petition to the embassy or consulate that issues visas in the country of your spouse's nationality. If your marriage took place in a country that does not have an American embassy, or the embassy does not issue visas, the NVC sends the petition to the embassy or consulate that normally processes visas for citizens of that country. For example, if the marriage took place in Iran where the United States does not have an embassy, the petition would be sent to Turkey.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDo they ask for or read the stuff you bring with you to the interview?
In our experience they do look at and read everything you bring with. We submitted a ton of e-mails and chat transcripts along with pictures and letters and affidavits and I'm certain they read everything.

A lot of people will tell you to edit what you supply them, by edit I mean not submit chats that might show a fight or something like that. We went with the opposite thought process, I wanted to show them that we argue and I wanted to show them that we resolve them.

Absolutely go with the CR1. It was only a difference of about 4 weeks between the K3 interview that was scheduled and the CR1 interview for us. It was well worth it to wait for the CR1 visa. For us it wasn't even about saving money (which is great, don't get me wrong) but it was about the freedom that it offered us once my husband arrived.

He was able to start looking for jobs right away, get his SSN right away, his greencard and so on. I know at this point a month sounds like eternity. But it's worth it to wait.

Hi

I am new to the forum site, my wife (US Citizen) submitted an i 130 on my behalf (British Citizen) to the US embassy based in London. We sent all the information required on the i 130 checklist but have received a letter which mentions the form has been found incomplete and/or requires additional evidence.

I have listed the items we are being asked to supply more information for along with my question(s) and would really appreciate if you can help us so that we can send the info they need.

1. Please provide a sworn affidavit that complies with 28 U.S.C. sec 1746. Explaining how and when you and your spouse met and the background leading up to your marriage on July 6 2009 (The affidavit must contain your full name and address, date and place of birth, the affiant may be required to testify before an immigration officer about the information contained in the affidavit.)

Does anyone know what this means in layman terms as we are both confused with we have to do or provide and what the format is?!

2. Please provide three (3) affidavits that comply with 28 U.S.C. sec 1746 sworn to or affirmed by third parties having personal knowledge of the bona fides of your relationship with the beneficairy. (Each affidavit must contain the full name and address, date and place of birth of the person making the affidavit, his or her relationship, if any, to the petitioner, beneficiary and complete information and details explaining how the person acquired his or her knowledge. The affiant may be required to testify before an immigration officer about the information contained in the affidavit).

Again, what does this mean in layman terms and what is the format?!

This is all completely new to us so we are pulling our hair out trying to figure out what to do here!? Also, is there anything else that would useful to send as part of the request above?

Thanks!

I know this is all very confusing. Here's the deal... For the first part it's asking for a letter stating how you met your spouse and how you got married. The way I would write it is like a story... Tell the story of your relationship.

The second part is asking for three affidavits from friends/family attesting to your relationship. When I asked my friends to write one for me I basically asked them to write about my relationship as if you were telling someone who doesn't know me all about the love story you've witnessed. I had one friend who wrote a very short simple one and two others that went into significant detail about what they've seen. The first paragraph was just them stating who they are, where they were born and where they live.

I would have both notarized if you can!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions about ITIN for filing
This isn't 100% correct from what I've been told. Even if filing Married filing separately you need to have the ITIN because they need to have the spouses SSN or ITIN on the return. You need it for both.
