K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsApril Filers - NVC to Interview
QUOTE (rambaldi @ Aug 22 2007, 03:06 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hey my April filers,

I've been MIA for the past 2 weeks, coz my fiance was visiting in town, and we've been busy just catching up with friends and family..... wub.gif

QUOTE (Deron @ Aug 21 2007, 10:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I involved my Congressman yesterday and was pleased to get an very polite and attentive visa assistant. I was informed today that my case was expedited to NVC. Now all I have to do is get an appointment, any appointment, and she will then call again and get that expedited up. Man, do I feel lucky. I recommend seeing if you are also so lucky to have good representation...For once in the last few months I feel good about this process. Now I have an ally within the same government that takes eons to approve our petitions.

Thanks Deron my friend for creating this thread! good.gif Now that my fiance's back in the US, he called NVC, but no, they don't have our petition yet. sad.gif It has been 22 days...awww crying.gif I'm so envious of you now!! How did you contact your congressman?

I just found this thread...cool, good.gif

kmplisa - My fiance was able to call the US Embassy in Singapore and they told her when they had received the case from NVC. Each embassy may be a little different.

We had a surprise last Friday when I was out of town. QQ called the embassy to make sure she had everything for the interview and they said they needed a certified copy of my divorce decree. I had sent a non-certified copy in with petiton which apparently was OK for CSC to approve.

This was a surprise blink.gif because it was not listed in the instructions from US Embassy in Singapore. I went to the courthouse and got it and sent DHL, she should get Thurs a.m. Also emailed her an image copy as temp backup plan just in case she does not have in time for afternoon interview. *Thought I would mention this in case anyone else is divorced...you may want to send a certified copy to fiance in advance.
Keeping our fingers crossed for interview approval whistling.gif ....TT

I'll post more in the future at this site below where it seems April filers have migrated after NOA2.

Hi Rambaldi...jeez still no NVC? But 3 weeks to NVC is better than the 3+ months at CSC. Should be any day for you. The whole process is inconsistent.

Hey Tom, yeah still no NVC. sad.gif Though we only used the NVC automated system, and didn't talk to the operator. Entered our WAC receipt no, and all we got was:

"We have no record of your case here. You have either entered an incorrect receipt no, or your case is still not received by us." cray5ol.gif

I just want to know though, is the NVC automated system reliable? What's the difference between the automated system versus talking to a real person? Anybody? unsure.gif

I called NVC and talked to a person about 3 times. I got good information from people I talked to. I tried to keep it short, never used the automated system. If it has been 3 weeks I would suggest talking to a person. Good luck. TT

this thread seems to be dead already.. i guess I'm the only left with no noa2 huhuhuhuh.. but in reality i know there are still some out there in the same boat as I am..

So sorry to hear about your RFE kits, here's hoping that you'll get your NOA2 very soon! Hang in there! Maybe you'll have better luck with NVC, coz even though we have our NOA2, some of us don't seem to have any luck with NVC, they still don't have our petitions yet! mad.gif wacko.gif cray5ol.gif

Hey Kits...the thread is not dead. You are not alone. You can always email me if you have a question. I don't check the thread as often, busy with other steps. Stay strong... the process does work...but never as fast as we want. Wishing you and others waiting a speedy approval.

No touches before, just one touch on the the 31st, and when I checked the status, it said Current Status: Approval notice sent. AWWWW SO HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!! FINALLY!!!!!!

All of you will be up next, don't worry!!! I  all of you, April filers!! :D :)

Congradulations to you and all the other April filers with approvals. I had not been on the site in a while, good to see more approvals.

Congrats to all the latest April approvals. Rambaldi, I never had one touch through the whole CSC process but then I never called them. I started calling NVC about 2 weeks after NOA2, every other day until they sent to consulate.

Tom, you're so very lucky!! Looking at your signature, it looks like QQ will get her visa very soon. So the K1 process is indeed quite short for you guys!

I can't believe we don't have our NOA2 yet... :(

Do keep checking back in and let me know of your progress, my fellow Singapore consulate VJer! :)

- -
Yes, we do feel lucky, seemed like a real slowdown at CSC after our NOA2. I was thinking the same thing about you...only 5 days behind us for NOA1 (though I was NSC & your are TSC) and you still without NOA2, sad really. Should be soon for you...and the good news is after that things seem to move pretty fast compared to the CSC wait. We will keep in touch, let me know if you have any questions about Spore consulate, best wishes.

We mailed our petition on March 28. Received NOA1 on April 09. No touches, no RFE. :help:
Would it do any good at all for me to call the Customer Service center about my case? Or will they just tell me it's 'pending' and send me on my way?

At the least- if they sent a RFE we would have gotten it long before now, right? Right?!

I never called, never a touch, or RFE (thankfully). Not sure if calling does anything to speed it up? Hang in there, I would think the approvals are coming soon for the rest of April filers. It probably slows down this time of year because more people are on vacation (unfortunately). It's the government, the others are not putting in overtime to makeup for it.

Hey Rambaldi - I updated my dates a little on my signature today...don't know if it matters since you went through TX? Hope you get your NOA2 soon. You and I are one of the few going thru Spore. Looks like I (& QQ) will be blazing that trail for you. So we'll have to keep in touch as we go through Spore.

Aww Tom I dunno either, it's hard to predict or even imagine what they're up to, or doing..... Oh, I see it now, so you actually got your NOA1 on the 5th instead of the 9th. Would you help us all out and edit that in your timeline too pls!! ;) Thanks for your kind words, CSC was really dead this week!! :crying:

My friend went through the S'pore consulate too last year, and she said it was pretty fast. So I bet you should be hearing from them pretty soon. Good luck! And yeah, keep checking in, let me know how the rest of your journey goes! :) ^_^

I updated our timeline. I wasn't sure initially which date I should put in there. Good to hear the S'pore consulate gets them through relatively quickly. My fiance is actually from China but has been living/working in Singapore for 6 years. Best wishes.

Deron, you are right! I've never noticed it before, but those April filers who already have NOA2s sent in their apps in March! But they got their NOA1s in April, so technically they're still considered April filers right?

Anyhoooo, I'm also in the same boat of waiting and frustration, I got my NOA1 on April 10, you got yours April 11, and Wioombeen got his April 9. Hopefully we all get approved pretty soon....tomorrow, perhaps!!

I just checked, we got touched again today, but we didn't call today, so this might just be the real touch, right, right, right?? COME ON NOW, CSC!!! <_<

I am one of those,I actually call myself an April filer. But there is knowbody or hardly anybody of the April filers waiting at NVC...

I think i'm still waiting for my petition to get sent to NVC, and i'm not a nobody!

Frankly, I'm not even worried about it at this point. I'm in the home stretch leading up to the bar exam, a little less than two weeks to go and I'm freaking out about that. I don't have time to worry about NVC at this point! Of course, it will be another story after the 25th, and if we haven't heard anything about petition by then, I'm calling NVC every hour on the hour.

Hey QUINN...you and I both got NOA2 on same day (6/27)...I called NVC today and they got our petition 7/12 and gave me a case number. One more step behind us.

For all the Aprils waiting for NOA2...really sorry not to see more get approved..stay strong & best wishes.

WHAT A HAPPY DAY!!!!!

Finally NOA2, this evening while chating with my fiance I check my case status and nothing AS usual. Never even a touch!!! Then while still chatting with here I got a msn pop-up saying I got an email from CRIS!!!!!

I was so excited...I could barely type fast enoguh to her...so I called her. Then I was worried..what if it was denied??? or they wanted more info???

But there it was.... We both were so happy.

CONGRATS Quinn on your approval...and others before me...good luck to all those that follow. I'll be posting again soon.

Prayers answered....Tom

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAPRIL Filers!!

I'm new to all this posting stuff, besides the K-1 process.

Sent I-129F from MN to Nebraska certified mail on Mar 30. Got the card back from post office Apr 9, says it was delivered on Apr 2.

Got my I-797 Notice of Action (NOA1) from CSC :) on Apr 9, the Recieved Date on the notice says Mar/30, which is wrong becuase that is the day I sent it, but no big deal. The Notice Date is listed as Apr/5.

I am wondering how some of you have the timelines attached to your posts? I found the official timeline that I updated but some of you have lots of other info on your timelines. I'll probably figure it out.

Good luck to all :)

Hi there TT&QQ! Welcome to the April Filers club!

I see that in your Timeline, the consulate stated is Singapore! Hey! Is your fiance or fiancee from Singapore? My fiancee is from Singapore too! :D

Hi Rambaldi,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I figured it would be almost 3 months until approval so I have just now checked back at the site.

Looks like we are on the same timeline and consulate. Yes she lives in Singapore and has for about 6 years. She is actually from China.

Glad to see Apr filers are getting approved.

Tom...hope it is soon

Congratulations Mae! Thanks again for all your help! I'm not sure where we would be without you. Despite everything I think we will be ok. I really do. Take care!

Hello everyone! I'm here now with my future husband!  Boy, it was a long way to be here... 28 hours, Jesus! But thank God, I made it here safe and sound and seeing David at the airport made me forget about the long and tiring trip... and oh, the jetlag. He's worth everthing to me! (L) It seems so surreal that I am here with him. I had to pinch myself till I got bruised just to make sure I wasn't dreaming. Anyway, it's going to be a busy month for me with all the adjustments to make, meeting my future in-laws, some new friends, plus the wedding preparations on top of everything.

I wish you all the best for those who will have their interview appointments for this month! And have a happy marriage to those who just got married!

PhilippinesManila Embassy Interview/Visa Status
Just an update for anyone who happens to be paying attention, lol. Mae got her CENOMAR and apparently there was a problem with her NBI (misspelling) and turned them in. The only information she received was to "go home and wait for the visa". I guess we are in the rest of the AR boat and it could come later rather than sooner.

I wasn't able to get through to the Immigrant Visa unit, but I assume they won't be able to tell me much but the party line. I have us booked on a flight August 4th in 4 weeks (I'm coming to visit and hope to go back together). I would guess this is overly optimistic and I'll have to rebook her (again). Anyone have any words of encouragement? discouragement? Sigh.

PhilippinesManila Embassy Interview/Visa Status
I'm not exactly sure if it had made a difference if she brought it. The phone person, Loraine, said that they routinely verify the CENOMAR and something about usually doing it before the interview. So yes it seems like a formality or maybe a trap if someone submits a fake one? However, she seemed to be saying Mae has to send in the CENOMAR before they will begin the check. So I'm not sure if she would have been flagged for some reason anyways (maybe since she has a child which implies that she could have been married) or if she had brought everything would have been ok.

It would be interesting to know what really goes on since it sounded like the USE does some preparation before the actual interview. Perhaps people that have been on here longer know but it's a black box to me (nerdy engineering reference).

A followup - I was able to talk to the USE Immigrant Visa Unit. A very nice woman named Loraine talked to me. She looked up the case and said that Mae can send it overnight (FedEx, etc) from General Santos and that will be ok. She also said they will validate it with NSO and this takes 4-6 weeks. So the good news is that she is not denied but we will be on AR for a while. I suspect that 4-6 weeks is a maximum based on what others have said here.

Mae had her interview on the 18th but she didn't receive her CENOMAR in time, so we knew she most likely wouldn't get the visa immediately. However, she did pass the interview (!) and needs to return with the CENOMAR to continue processing the visa (technically, I assume this is AR? She said something about a blue flag?).

These are the details of her interview I recall from my not so good memory of what she said afterwards:

She had one hour of sleep the night before arrived at the embassy at 5am and was out by 11am. She said the pre-screener asked basic information about me, my children, and past marriages. She said the consul was very rude and asked her three times what our ages are, why was she sure she wanted to marry me, and how did she know she was in love. He didn't say anything reassuring and asked her to go wait for her number. She thought she hadn't passed and was in tears but the girl at the window reassured her and said that it was ok and all she needed to do was bring the CENOMAR back any day 1-2pm. She paid DELBROS and left.

We are very happy, but there is still some ambiguity and doubt since we're not sure what will happen and what delay this will cause. She has to return to General Santos and pick up the CENOMAR (it should be ready by now) and return to Manila. I haven't done a search of the VJ website but has anyone else had this experience? What sort of delay will this cause? It's quite a ordeal and more expense to return to just submit the document which will mean another flight and night at the hotel. I will call the embassy and find out if there is another means to submit it. However, on the other hand, it might speed up the process if she returned. Nothing is easy, lol.

Hi Jeff,
Just to clarify, so if she would have had the cenomar for the interview then they wouldn't need to validate it? I'm not totally familiar with the cenomar but doesn't it come from NSO to begin with? I don't see why that have to get it validated by them if it came from them.

Charlie

Yo Charlie!
There are a LOT of fake CENOMARS along with other documents in the Philippines.
I imagine USEM is already doing their own search with NSO.
Normally they care less about the one the person submits themselves but do their own checks.
Surprised they asked the person to submit one at all.

Congratulations Mae!! There was never any doubt.

My Mae finished her medical yesterday. (I think she might have crossed paths with some here?) She said she didn't have any problems and everyone was very nice to her and made some friends. She was there 7:30-3:30 the first day and didn't finish until 3pm the second. I wish I had more useful information, but my impression with the medical there isn't too much to be concerned about, but then she doesn't have any nagging medical problems.

On to the interview!! Ughhh, more angst.

(Oops, also posted this to general thread by accident)

Congratulations and Good luck on interviews, also!

I'm trying to get things together to send to Mae for an early medical. She has not received the Packet 4. I'm confused if the originals are required of the NOA2 and the NVC letter. She would like to go along with another person from VJ (another Mae, David-Mae Forever) on the 16th, but I'm not sure I have enough time to send the originals, however I can scan and email them. Also is there enough time to have St. Lukes receive the Packet 4 from the embassy?

Thanks!

I posted this a few days ago, I'm not sure it got buried in a blizzard of congratulations or there were no opinions about the timing if a visit (or could be bad breath). I'll get a mint and give it another try...

Congratulations to those who got approved!

I might have the opportunity to travel to the PI in time for either Mae's interview or her travel to the US (not both, though). Does anyone have an opinion what would be more helpful to be there for the interview or accompany her back?

(I managed to get a frequent flyer for her that happened to be July 4th, I'm not sure if that has any significance but it reminded me of the movie Avalon, one of my favorites).

I was faced with this same dilema. My Fiance wanted me to come for her interview and also to excort her back. Trouble was that I did not have enough time on the books at work to stay more than 10 days. (8 days after travel time) I did not think it was a good idea to guess when her visa would be issued and get a ticket for the end of that time frame. Secondly, I did not have enough money with plane tickets to Manila costing about $1000 each to make two trips in hopefully less than a month. Consequently, I told me sweetheart it was one or the other. I would come for the interview and she would fly here alone or I would skip the interview and come to get her. She, bless her heart, told me she understood and without a complaint out of her lips said she wanted me there for her interview most of all. So that's what I am doing.

And good news is.....I hop on the plane tomorrow night for Manila!!! WOOOHOO!!!!   Can't wait to see my baby again!!!! Hope I remember everything! I gotta work tomight too and I haven't even started to pack! :o I am soooo bad! :P

Congrats to Dean and Gracia, Mike and Marivic, and CocoPuff on successful interviews. Congrats to all those that received their visas recently, especially to you Cora for such a long and agonzing wait. Congrats to Elmasguapo for great news on the medical results. I know I am probably missing someone here and I apologize for not keeping up. I will just say that I have read it here and congratulated you in my mind when I did, so you are now officially congratulated in print if I did not say it before.

Talk to you all later.....from Manila if not before. :D

Scott (and Mirasol)

Thanks Scott! You should be there by now! A fellow last minute packer, like me. Some of us work better under pressure.

I'm still a bit undecided largely because of cost (Tickets are running $1800 for us mid-continent people - ughhh Last year it was around $900.).

I'd be very interested in hearing your experience. I hope everything goes well! Best of luck!!!

Well in my opinion and in the opinion of an immigration lawyer I consulted, if you have the time and the money you should attend her interview.

Thanks! Sort of what I thought. Time and money, sigh.

PhilippinesManila Embassy Interview/Visa Status

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMy fellow April ROC filers
I booked an infopass 2 months after I sent the ROC application because we hadn't received the NOA. They gave Thao a 1 year temporary green card stamp in her Vietnam passport. 2 days later we received the NOA in the mail. Now I expect to wait 6-8 months for 10 year green card. For the 2 year green card we waited almost a year to receive it. It took 8 months for CSC to tell us that Thao's finger prints from the biomentrics were no good and she would have to retake them. I've learned to be very patient when deling with USCIS.

Sorry to hear that. I hope you can take care of that RFE quickly!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionSeems like it is never enuff

yes he is married to her, but they want papers proving he is no longer married to someone else.

just to verify, they have proof of divorce. seems like they wany details of the divorce. They have the ORIGINAL divorce document from the court. For whatever reason they want more details. We would not be past the NVC phase if there was not proof of divorce.

I don't know squat about Jamaica, mon, but for GuangZhou, Cuidad de Juarez, and HoChiMihn, the IV units want to see the Divorce Decree.

I have to say tanks for the laugh Darnell :) :)

I truly understand your frustration! My hubby went for his interview on November 9, 2012 which was one day after I had a cescerean deliver of our daughter. He was also given a blue slip that requested the baby's birth certificate and also a copy of my passport pages showing entry in Jamaica. I was devasted! We were well prepared. They sent him on his way with this stupid #### blue slip and requested that I email and scan the documents. I sent the documents to them on November 13, 2012 and they called him on November 20th to schedule blue slip appointment. He was given an appointment for 12/3/2012 and he went in and paid the DHL and everything is good. He is approved. Your approval is right around the corner. This is definately a place to vent because I was very upset also.

Thank-you so much for UNDERSTANDING my frustration.. I am just asking questions to see if anyone would know why they want this and didn't ask for it during the NVC phase. Thanks for the kind understanding and words. I just want it to make sense of this. EVERYTHING else checked out just fine. Seems to me when someone comes in with everything and being so prepared they want to dig deeper for anything they can find... As most people that have a spouse in Jamaica, know that everything cost money and that being said my husband doesn't have much of that. He sold his car thinking he would be coming and had to rent a car and pay gas and drive 6 hours and now another trip    to Kingston SMH

Why don't he get all of the documents associated with his divorce case.

I never said he did not have it, I still don't know if that is what they want at this point and!! I am asking questions WHY do they want it, not what my husband has or doesn't have at this point.

Well, this is just an opinion, aye?

A Decree is many pages, covers seperation of property, children, alimony, fostering monies and percentages, dissolution of marriage, cause, etc.
A Certificate is just one page.

I don't know squat about Jamaica, mon, but for GuangZhou, Cuidad de Juarez, and HoChiMihn, the IV units want to see the Divorce Decree.

/end of opinion.

You'll know more once you get that scanned piece o paper into yer email box.

Another possibility is that he just showed a photocopy of the divorce papers(s ), where the IV unit wants a certified copy or an original.

Good Luck !

Thanks for your opinion Darnell. I can assure you that my husband only had a copy of the original Divorce certificate, as the original was sent to the NVC. Back in Oct we had received an RFE for the original and we only had one original copy so we sent that and made copies for the actual interview. So far I have not heard or seen anyone that had to provide this?? Why they didn't request this in the first place is beyond me. The joys of this journey SUCK real bad right now. Why did they not keep his passport, why does he have to email the docs and not bring them in? As much as I read on this site I can't get it into my head what is going on. They gave him his passport back and sent him on his way. If he has to email it, why could they not just keep the passport and move forward with the process after they receive the email from him. They notorious for everything being originals so why an email. What could they want to investigate? Could he be denied for his past divorce. The lady over victimized herself and very badly. There was never any charges or anything of the such, I can assure you that the divorce decree is not in his favor. I AM SCARED!!!!!!

so, perhaps they want the divorce decree, the entire thing, not just a 'divorce certificate',
on the beneficiary, aye?

Does that sound reasonable?

Sometimes, when more docs are asked for, a form or formletter is generated asking specifically for stuff. If he has that, is best he scans it in and emails it to you, then you review it as well.

OK, if that is the case can you give me your opinion as to why they would need that?? I mean, Really, lets get real here they got everything they originally requested. What can the divorce decree determine in this case. I feel like I am going to vomit right now. My head is spinning and I can not comprehend it...

what, exactly, was asked for ?
and what did you have, that resembled the thing they asked for?

Perhaps we can help with 'the difference', aye?

It was a really bad connection on the phone :(. From what my husband is telling me a document who won the divorce case? Really? What difference would that make if the divorce has been final for years now, she got everything but the house!! It was built on his land? She took EVERYTHING, even light switched and fixtures, spray painted the concert and more.

Please don't quote me Darnell, again the connection was really bad and the call kept dropping. He is going to head over to the court house in Kingston to see what he can get. They also told him he HAD to email this and not bring it in. That they will call him once they receive the email.
