Janet did her interview this morning (Oct14th) at the US Embassy and got the pink! Her interview lasted about five minutes. I am so happy now that we are past this point in our journey, and I want to thank everyone who helped us! Soon now I will go to the Philippines to bring janet home once she has her visa in hand and has completed the CFO seminar! God Bless You All....I am so thankful to have found this site. Lyle

The main concern was not just about not wanting to read these nonsense comment, replies or posts. It is about making VJ, Philippine Forum a place where people can actually find answers regarding visa related issues or someone can ask questions or even share some sensible thoughts and ideas. If making funny replies made some people's day "better" then I suggest that VisaJourney should make another forum where obnoxious people can gather.

Upon reading replies on this post, I conclude that some people still didn't get the OP's concern or maybe they're just really bored with their lives.

Yup, there oughta be another forum for disgusting and loathsome people like you and the topic starter. People who don't possess a single ounce of pragmatism in their system. The reality here is that some of the posts are too mundane and boring and they require a little spicy injection. So, go get a life, grandma!

I joined VisaJourney about a year ago and I am very thankful to VJ because it helped us very much with my visa journey.

The reason I am posting this, it is because I just want to express how I feel about those VJers that all they've been doing are making fun, posting replies that irrelevant to the original posts, or giving insensitive comments to the OP or those who replied. I can say that Philippine forum in particular is not as good as before. I am very disappointed because it has been going on like this almost everyday already. I myself, is very discouraged to posts my queries anymore because I know someone will make fun out of it too regardless of the topic. I just wish that this will be stopped. I wish that if someone posts something that will be useful to those who are new in this journey , no one will ruin the discussion.

To those who understand me, thank you but to those who will not agree…well, good luck and God bless. Peace again.

Yes and a lot of these people want to come to the USA where we speak english but in this forum some choose to speak another language. Im sure they are talking bad about my posts or maybe that is just my interpretation of what they are writing.

Once you are inside the final boarding area for USA flight you cannot buy food or water without going back through the third X-ray, so you might want to get something before you go in there.

Unless it's different for individuals who are immigrating, this isn't exactly correct. I'm not sure from your post if you're flying PAL all the way to the US or not. If so I'm not familiar with which gate they board for international flights. The last security check point is in the corridor leading to the boarding gates. You'll pass security at location #3 on this map, then again at the corner turning into the boarding gate corridor. There's no xray there, just two guards checking boarding passes again. I flew China Air from gate 5 which is the boarding area on the right in this photo. The gates all board from one big open, circular area and there are places to eat, restrooms (CR's), etc. You need to wait until you are at this area to buy your drinks for the flight. The guards at that last check will let you go back into the main corridor, just not back past the security point #3 in the photo.

http://www.jal.co.jp...l/img/MNL_e.gif

There are a lot of "checks" in Manila and it really is a good idea to be there early. All airlines tell you to be early for international flights then you find that you breezed through it in half the time they said. Not the case in Manila...lol You'll likely use all of the 2 hours they recommend.

QUOTE
Everything will be easy for you. You don't have to collect those baggage after arriving in Manila, since you are a connecting flight to San Francisco, right?

I flew from TAC to MNL on Pal and I had to collect my luggage at the domestic arrival terminal (terminal 2) then recheck it at the China Air counter. China air has no partnership with PAL. It's a long way from the domestic (terminal 2) to international (terminal 1) terminal so you need to allow time for that as well. If you're flying PAL to the US then chances are you won't have to mess with luggage which would be a godsend! Oh, and be prepared to pay extra fees for your luggage. PAL's domestic has different weight limits than other airlines. My "per bag" weight was under 23kg for my checked bags and under 7kg for my carryon, but I paid P650 in Tacloban because my total weight was over their limit.

I don't remember the fees for PH nationals, but for me it was P30 "terminal fee" at TAC and P750 "Airport users charge" in Manila. If you're flying beyond SFO be ready for the $50 you'll have to pay for your luggage on a US domestic flight too! The nerve headbonk.gif makes me so angry..lol

Looking ahead for the baggage restrictions and fees. good.gif PAL is funny... The 7kg (~16lbs) carry-on is less than what most travelers are used too. I tried it with a max carry-on sized backpack at 12.5 kg and was denied even with a "fee"; Just had to check-in. I have since made it onto PAL with a smaller backpack at 10kg no questions asked by wearing while at counter - so that it wasn't sitting down by the scales. No checked bags! dancin5hr.gif And their planes have extra little steps to reach the overhead bins I hadn't seen elsewhere, but maybe it's common? Anyways, the crazy thing is that PAL domestic and international flights are out of Terminal 2 (Centennial). So she'll avoid the Domestic Terminal (old) and the International Terminal (Terminal 1) as well as Terminal 3 (newer) altogether. It is all organized island style. Maybe there is another name for Terminal 3 like Newest but Not Really New Domestic&Other non-PAL Terminal? Hopefully, the connection will be smooth... yes.gif

QUOTE (Qiix @ Oct 14 2009, 11:29 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Actually you will have to pass through Customs Twice in Manila.

Cebu-Manila is a domestic flight- they don't care about your final destination.

1. Once you arrive in Manila, you have to deplane, including all checked bags.
2. You have to Transfer all of your luggage from domestic Terminal to International Terminal
3. Upon entering International Terminal, your luggage is x-rayed at the doorway, on the inside.
4. You go to the ticket counter, get your boarding pass, check luggage (If any)
5. You proceed to the right side of Terminal and pay International Terminal fee of 750 Peso.
6. You pass the Fee booth into the Customs area and fill out Customs Declaration.
7. You pass the Customs officers (4 booths I think) and they inspect your passport, boarding pass, declaration.
8. You pass behind customs booths and through second x-ray station into passenger boarding area
9. Once inside boarding area you proceed to your gate - usually USA Flights are on the left side down at the end.
10. Your USA flight gate will be roped off and you pass through a Third X-ray station. At this station they spot check some bags.
11. after third X-Ray, you pass to second Customs booth - 1 booth two guys - they inspect your Passport, etc on more time.
12. Once inside you wait and board your flight.

Once you are inside the final boarding area for USA flight you cannot buy food or water without going back through the third X-ray, so you might want to get something before you go in there.

Have a nice flight..

Lots of checkpoints at NAIA Terminal 1! What airlines are you using? As I recall PAL flys international from Terminal 2... Hopefully the 1 hour between flights is going to work if its PAL and luggage is checked through all the way? One hour is not enough for terminal transfer and international check-in otherwise. OP - you may need an earlier flight into Manila... Have a fun time and welcome soon.

I noticed you never received your NOA2 hard copy. Neither did we!, got the e-mail approving us from USCIS , but no hard copy. Did you find out if this is going to be a problem at the interview?

Trying to sort out this phase also. wacko.gif

Mr.&Mrs.A, sorry to hear you have yet to receive your hardcopy NOA2. I read that it will be required later at AOS stage. For interview? unsure.gif Maybe you'll get it Monday, hopefully... The NOA2 has the beneficiary's A# on it which you may need? BTW: today I received a hardcopy from NVC dated 10-15-09 saying they had received an approved I-129f petition from USCIS and will be forwarding on to USEM within one week. This document has the MNL# on it. On 10-15-09, NVC indicated by phone, the packet was sent to Manila on 10-14-09.

Bob and Liezl, RE the CENOMAR, a fresh copy is suggested many times but it is all sorta mixed opinions, 1 month, 3 months, or 6 months, even if it is valid for 1 year. idea9dv.gif We plan on a fresh one with purpose stated as U.S. Fiancee Visa or something similar. Best Wishes.

Thanks for all the well wishes! Being a site for advice and guidance is for the most part why I joined. But I do have to also say that for me at least I have noticed and have come to beleive this is more than just an information mill. I read earlier a post that said the reader was tired of all the got the pinks, NOA1 filed and or NOA2 noticed received and all the congrats that follow. That poster wanted more exciting threads and topics. He did not get the best part of this site or the great group of people that post here. This is a meeting place fo a community with for the most part have a comon goal.. To be untied with the one they love and want to share there lives with. So when one gets good news one the process and shares all the rest of us are excited and hopfull there shared journey is also running in the same direction to success. I will never get tired of reading or stop feeling happy for anyone that wishes to post progress of there journeys. Still not sure on the direction to go on the buying of a ticket. Will wait most likely. The only important thing is getting past this next hurdle. Will let all know what the result is when I find out. I hope watching the Seahawks try a salvage some of there season tomarrow will distract me a little. Thanks again and keep strong all.

Well said. We're having fun on our journey also; ultimately the biggest deal is being successful in the process so its forms, documents, timelines blah blah blah. Getting NOA2 is really something to celebrate! Getting the pink - I am sooo looking forward to that! Good luck at your interview! We hope to hear about your successes - in full detail. good.gif

Time, after time, after time, people say, "wait till Visa is in hand." Time, after time, after time, I think ignore this and buy tickets today! Like the time I book'd a spontaneous - out of budget - visit, only to get I-129F approval notice later the same day - way sooner than anticipated! Pay more airline penalties, re-focus, smile and move on... It's just the way things happen! Still several steps away yet I am still checking flights daily; this time its for a one-way ticket! In love, not thinking so clearly. heart.gif

Best of luck to you two...
