K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurespackage sent. Now more questions
QUOTE (steabba @ Sep 24 2009, 07:57 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Our check was cashed about a week after we sent the package to USCIS center in California (via USPS with no tracking, because they don't offer this service when you mail to P.O. boxes, so I have no idea when they received our documents), but we haven't received the NOA1 yet.
As far as I understand, this is quite normal, and the fact that the check was cashed means that our process has started.

USPS does offer delivery confirmation to the USCIS California Service Center's P.O. Box. Just need to specify "Certified Mail and Signature Confirmation."

The Certified Mail Receipt (PS Form 3800) that you receive the day you send the item has a 20-digit number printed on the edge and you can check online at http://www.usps.com/...kandconfirm.htm. The website asks for Label or Receipt Number (this is the 20-digit Article Number which is also shown on a sticker that is placed on the green return receipt card PS Form 3811. That's the form you fill out with your address and the USCIS PO Box address, which is affixed to your package.)

The USPS online system will simply show that it was delivered to zip code 92607 without routing details. A few days later you'll get the hard copy receipt back (PS Form 3811), mine was stamped USCIS RECEIVED 07-30-09 - I guess they were shouting? Not meant to be an advertisement but USPS hooked me up!

Send it USPS Priority Mail Certified Mail Signature Confirmation.

Your Certified Mail Receipt (PS Form 3800) will have a 20-digit number printed on the edge and you can check delivery status online at http://www.usps.com/...kandconfirm.htm . The website asks for Label or Receipt Number (this is the 20-digit Article Number which is also shown on a sticker placed on the green return receipt card PS Form 3811 which is affixed to the package). Although I also plan to include a handful of chat logs, just wanted to post that I read (sorry I can not locate, as I recall it was one of the basic "how to" government guides or FAQs) that emails are valid evidence of ongoing relationship while chat logs are not. The reasoning was that email has a higher level of credibility over chat logs because the header information is verifiable from the service provider while chat logs show only a screen alias and are not verifiable. Indeed, I can have my Yahoo Messenger screen indicate any name in matter of minutes. After reading this, I changed mine to indicate my given name instead of a screen name, or alias, but anyone else could do the same as well. No idea on Live Messenger or ICQ. Like the other poster said - a text document could readily be created to simulate a chat log... I sought other evidence because of this... So, it's just additional info that will not make or break a case...

QUOTE (Westindy @ Oct 4 2009, 05:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
If you are going to use a money order the Postal Money Orders are very reliable and easy to track. I had a bill get lost in the mail before and the Post Office was very helpful in replacing the Money Order.

Check or money order? protest6wz.gif Dare I suggest a money order is better?
A US Postal Service Domestic Money Order is a very secure payment option. For the $455 I-129F the USPS fee will be $1.10. No worries with using a money order, the I-129F instructions say "check or money order". And there is no way a bank foul-up will affect your transaction; bank accounts are subject to levy, overdrafts, etc... With a USPS Money Order there will be no delay for clearance; a USPS Money Order is drawn by a US gov agency in US funds and is going to a US gov agency... USCIS does not have to submit to your bank for clearance for it to be valid - it is valid payment upon receipt - by definition - it is a Money Order.

Remember, as others have said, make it payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security and send with delivery confirmation.

I was just wondering how my fellow vj members (filipinas specially) dealing with "flipping the clock" problem? Been here in the US for 2 weeks now but my clock is still messed up! I could fall asleep at night (9-10) but then i wakes up between 1:30-2:30am and i always have trouble going back to sleep. I dont (and never will i) take a nap (no matter how sleepy i am) during the day but my clock still screwed up! Drinks different kinds of green tea(s) and wake up "energy shots" but i still feel sleepy during the day...Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Good thing though that my husband understands this "crazy flipping clock thingy" and "keeps me awake" during the day...LOL!!!

It happens to me when I first got here. For my first 2 weeks, I just keep sleeping the whole day, and night. Then, another 2 weeks of being so awake during night. It took me 5 weeks to fully shift my body clock to normal day and night. Though, there's still time that I am so sleepy in the morning and so awake during night.

I wake up as husband wake up to prepare to go to work. He wanted to have breakfast with me. Then, when he's gone to work, I took a nap. Until such time, that I didn't take a nap anymore during the day.

Give your body some time to adjust. Now, your body will also need to adjust with the cold weather.

Is that why K1 fiancees have to wait for EAD? So they can get lot's of rest while their SO is at work... wink.gif

PhilippinesWhat's behind your display name?
Had another name originally but once I filed I-129F I did not want to seem selfish as if it was my Visa Journey and not our Visa Journey. So I restructured it with some difficulty, ultimately creating a new account. Used our common names and put Iris first where she deserves to be.

Currently we have shared access to this same account but I can see why it may be advantageous to have separate accounts. There are strict rules of etiquette I am to follow according to Iris! Be nice, only post to sensible discussions, and I am prohibited from directly telling guys that cute slim women are available in the Philippines if they appear otherwise engaged! tongue.gif

Thanks, LaneAndDaisy

I believe this is what your looking for. it was unpinned because of some outdated info about Doc Verification Fee, which is no longer required, and by whom the visa is delivered. It's also a good idea to check the Embassy website for the documents required at the present time.

Iowa?

Why would you bring anyone to that God Forsaken Hell Hole? I already feel sorry for her devil.gif

Closer you get to X-Mas the more expensive the ticket gonna be. My wife if flying from DFW to MNL , Leaving USA first week of December, and coming back to USA the 20th of Dec. She paid $900 roundtrip, she purchsed the ticket about 2 months ago online.

Well I am hoping the cold air will not be to much for her just coming from a hot summer day into winter. December in Iowa can be moderate to bitter cold and snowy. Maybe I should see about getting her a flight from MNL to DFW then on to Cedar Rapids instead of to Detroit or Minneapolis then to Cedar Rapids. I guess I will wrap her in my parka when she arrives. I am finding the most direst flights are a little over $900.00 one way.

I took some online classes with team members in Texas. I know how in the dead of winter in Iowa it can be almost a cool day in summer in Texas. I would like to retire in a warmer climate than Iowa like Texas or Southern Colorado.

Thanks and God bless,
Dale

A quick (LAZY) search indicates no record of freezing temperatures for any city in the Philippines. Baguio has been under 10C several times. Imagine never seeing ice, snow, or frost! Iowa? Have you told her about this? You better get that girl her own down parka! yes.gif Hey we're trying for before Christmas too! I can't wait - the best gift ever... Best of luck to you both...... good.gif

PhilippinesIf the Visa Interview is the first week of December?
I have met a travel agent in Portland that is Pinay. She has helped me with scheduling and seems caring and knowledgeable about immigration matters. She has consolidators specializing in travel to Manila. I recently asked her permission to post reference on VJ.

PhilippinesUse an immigration Service
QUOTE (Dakine @ Oct 12 2009, 11:26 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
QUOTE (Art1 @ Oct 12 2009, 07:56 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi,

I was wondering how many fiancee's from the Philippines used an immigration service or did you "go it alone"? (Together)

If you used a service, do you think it was worth the money? If you had it do all over again, would you use a
service or not use a service?

If you did not use a service and had to do it all over again, would you use one? (NEVER)

A

Only service you should use if you have your act together even a little bit is USPS EXPRESS mail!
Especially for a K1!

good.gif Make sure to get that with Certified Mail Signature Confirmation.

I (we) put off the I-129F for several months because we thought we needed to use a service. It was cost prohibitive. Then I put in several hours here on Visa Journey reading about the I-129F Petition and the K1 visa and determined we could do it ourselves... We COULD do it better! And the further I read the more I understood we SHOULD do it ourselves, we are the one's affected. It really came together as I actually began to assemble everything concentrating on primary evidence and the important must have items. And I learned specifics for the Manila Embassy we had not considered before; I front-loaded the petition with evidence of an ongoing relationship that matched our primary "have met in person" evidence.

There are some real solid conscientious posters here that really make VJ work. (You know who you are - thanks people!) Remember, you must meet the requirements and you absolutely must provide what is specifically asked for. We kinda doubled up on things; his and hers birth certs; his and hers Intent to Marry statements - notarized; his full passport; his divorce decree and divorce certificate; his and hers statements of relationship - handwritten. Throughout we made sure all the dates match - if she said I met her parents on 23 November we had a piece of primary evidence to support this... And carefully avoided anything we did not have evidence to support.

If it takes you several weeks to put it together you are better off than if you go with a service - or attorney - and they foul it up. And go with the standard "rules" not the exceptions that are discussed - do the stuff that works for the masses and learn from those that didn't. If it clearly says something in the form instructions, concisely follow them. No need to be an expert here - just follow the advice of those that followed the advice of those that followed the advice......
