Hi all! Does anyone know if the photos have to be a certain size...ie... 4x6 or 3x5??? And if they are ok to be color printed from home?

Many people have done this process without an attorney. I agree with previous posters - unless you have some "issues" you can do this yourself. You might find it useful just to read the guides and take a look at the example forms - also there are a great bunch of people in the UK regional forum who will be able to help you out with any queries specific to the UK.

I find that breaking down the tasks and dealing with the paperwork in small chunks helped me wade through what sometimes seemed like endless paperwork.

Thanks, I will keep that in mind. I just worry because I really don't have alot of time on my hands to research this stuff. I wish I did, but I have heavy classes and work so I think I may have hired her to quickly, but at the same time, I felt so much weight lifted off my shoulders when I did, as if ok, now I have someone to help, it should be smooth sailing, but people are saying that attorneys are actually messing things up..why on earth would they do that, it's their job? thanks again for the response!

hi let me share you about filling with the lawyer. at first i almost hired this lawyer to file a I29-F but when i aske her how much its going to cost me and she stop for a minute and think and said with everything will cost me about $2500 i mumbled staired at her and said forget you. so i found this another lawyer that charge me $750 for everything good lawyer here in california. now all im waiting for is the time of interview of my fiance. hope this would give you a little idea how much will it cost you for a lawyer gud luck with your case


Is there a difference in the amount of help you get comparing the two lawyers? The one I hired is $2000 flat fee. She will fill everything out copy everything make sure things are all put together filled out right etc. What does this other lawyer do? Same for lower price? I need to try and find a cheaper one or do it myself. Are you happy spending the money for the help?

Do you have a family member who is willing, has the time, believes in your relationship, is willing to do the research and can pay attention to detail? My son drafted me, as his situation would have made it nearly impossible to get through this process. I think and lot of my DIL, so am happy to help them.

hello everyone! I was filling out the Biographic form and came to the work history section....well I have had many jobs within the past 5 years. Should I only list as many as will fit or should I attach a separate word document with the rest of my work history???? Anyone know?

Also, does my fiance in England have an Alien Registration Number Yet??? How do you know?

Does anyone know for Occupation under work history, when it says specific, is "RETAIL" enough? Being that you would be doing everything if you're in retail usually???? Or should we put "Cashier, Stock, Supervise, Train, Merchandise...etc. And can the months be in letter format instead of numbers? As in Aug, Mar, Sept...? Thanks for any input!

Hello, so ok, does anyone know what's going on with the service center in Nebraska? I thought that was where I was sending my 129F paperwork, but then I find out they don't do them now? I was told a month ago to send it there. And my fiance already placed the Nebraska address on the letter of intent, and I just received his documents. Does he have to redo the letter and mail me another copy??? Or what? Thanks for any help!

Hello everyone again! I was just wondering, how many photos is too many? I have 28 and don't want to go beyond that! But does anyone have any input as to if that is too many? They are pics of both of us, and some with both of our family members in different time periods, to show that I met his family and that he met mine. Granted, at the time I was stupid and never took any of me with his family. So I put some of me and his niece next to one of all of them showing the whole family. So is 28 an ok amount. I guess I just don't want them to think we don't have any you know what I mean? And out hair is different at the 4 different meetings too. Any suggestions? Thanks a bunch!

Hello, just a question about the forms and dating them. I have a lawyer and I have an appt with her next week the 28th. However I'm preparing all the stuff now and was going to sign and date them, but do I date them for the 28th when I see the lawyer or do I date them for now? Does it really matter?

My fiance dated his when he signed them which was last week...Any ideas? Thanks a bunch!

I recently sent papers to apply for Fiance Visa. Today I notices that I made the following error.
for the Question: if any other names uses for Fiance?

on the i-129 application , I put her name as Jane Doe and none for any other names
on the G325A , She put Jane Doe as name and Jane Doe Smith for other names used

Jane doe appears on all of her documents including passport, birth certificates and school certificate.

Would the application be rejected for this reason?

Also: error made on her G325A : Her Dad's birday was written as 09/16/08 but the actuall birthdat is 12/01/52. could this cause any problem?

Sometimes they'll send your application to a different service center though...for example I sent mine into the Nebraska Service Center because I'm in Colorado but they transferred it to the California Service Center. So you might get lucky as well - you never know!

Actually she wrote her first name, paternal/middle name and surname in Russian and I transcribed them into English so we ended up with the same name in both Cyrillic and Western writing. There's no need to change it and you really want to end up with the same thing both ways to avoid confusion later on.

I'm in the same boat as you; from everything I've heard the American Embassy in Almaty is quick and efficient but the paperwork will still take an average of 5 months from start to finish. The waiting is hard but it's good to know that we have a good embassy to work with once things do start to get processed!

I would say our local office, but when you go to check the processing times under local office form 751 doesn't show up...so I guess it's the CSC.
On the other hand, it's my understanding that the confirmation letter of approval you are getting it from the local office. Confusing...I know! :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

I sent my I-751 ~ 07/25/ 2010 to CSC , Biometrics 09/08/2010.... still waiting. I am not sure what is going on.? Any input friends ..


there are many of us in your situation, so I for one I'm not stressing about it...I guess we're ok until we are in the national predicted time frame...I will start worrying when the 6 months are up...

I'm a September filer and havent received my biometric notice. Its going to be a month, this weekend. People before me and after me have received the notice. Just wondering if this is normal with Santa Ana.


oh wow...that sucks,but as far as I've seen it's not uncommon though.

Are we still talking about USCIS biometrics officers?????? Probably I should relocate a little more north and get my stuff done in Oakland ;)
My experiences have been very weird with biometrics officers......

One time the guy was sharing with me how his "girl" is seeing some other guy and he's thinking about killing him.... huuuuuuh :blink:?????????
Another time I though I got enlisted in the Army - the lady was too aggressive... I counted my fingers when I left the facility to make sure all 10 still were attached....

I had the same officer 2yrs ago and this year, and the first year he couldn't have been more rude and "aggressive"...barely said anything. The second time I told him that I remember him, he asked if it was good or bad, and I said "not really the best". He started a pretty pleasant conversation that he ended as soon as someone entered the room, then mentioned the fact that it's not personal, it's just their policy not to talk to the "customers". Ha...funny thing he said that, as the other biometric person was having the time of her life with her "customer"...whatever! give me my green card, I don;t care about your stories or behavior, it's all part of the process!

Updating my info -- can't remember when we got the NOA, but we went in for the biometrics in Oakland yesterday. The woman who took the fingerprints told my husband that he'd be getting his new green card "in a couple of weeks" -- WHAT??? Really?

We shall see!

Even with the biometrics letter, it may still not show anything online. In my wife's
case, it took about one week after she had her biometrics done before her case showed
online.



As soon as I came out from biometrics I checked the status online and for the first time it was there showing info....until then (even the morning of the biometrics) it was telling me that the case number could not be found...

Anyway, what I meant to say was that if any one of you (or in fact anyone else) has issues to ask and they think of doing it at the bio, best thing would be not to expect to get anything from the bio IO per se; you'd probably need to have made an INFOPASS app as well. :thumbs:

I hear you..I understand what you're saying about maybe trying to have some questions answered during the bio appt; the truth is that I wasn't thinking about it, not after the bad experience I had 2 years ago when I went in for the bio appt for the conditional gc. Anyways, I hope this time I will have a better experience..a less rude one ;) :hehe:

I just wanted to point out that if you received your ASC appointment letter which gives you the new and important Application Number, that number when input on the CIS website should give you your current status for your case (click on "Check File Status"). I presume that where it asks for a Receipt Number that you entered your new Application Number found at the ASC bio letter? No dashes, just the letters and digits all together? And it does not recognize your case?

Assuming this is true, it could be that they need to update their info, so check in a day or two and they should be there. This Application Number that you received with your biometrics letter IS the one that is meant to be used to track your case on-line. I know because mine works.

I would theorize at this stage that they simply have not updated some of the records, but I am sure others have had such experiences before and they might have other suggestions. The only three things I can think of are the obvious ones: a) Make sure you input your number in the correct format as it appears on the Biometrics letter without dashes; b) wait for a few days and try again to input the number; c) call up the National Hotline and ask if this matter is worth making an INFOPASS appointment for (or simply make one anyway if your local CIS office is close by). :)

Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the National Customer Service Center at 1.800.......

I guess I will wait until the bio appt next week..if I won't be able to check the status of my application online once I'm done with that, I will see then about calling the 1.800 number or making the infopass appt.
I guess knowing that other can't access their case online is kind of relieving ;) otherwise I would probably start panicking or something :)))

Check cleared 8/20. Receipt# on canceled check gets no results on check my status. The receipt# is hand-written on face of check. Still waiting for NOA. Any thoughts? You guys are the greatest! This blog has been so helpful. Thank you all!!!



Our check was cleared on Tuesday, on Friday we got the NOA. Exactly one week later after the NOA we received the Bio appt letter in the mail.Looking at the other August filers timelines,this is the typical time frame. ..so don't worry, you should have the NOA in the mail sometimes at the middle of this coming week... :yes:
