I'm so happy to see all these approvals that keep coming! We have been some lucky people since I see some people still waiting since Jan....

I started working on getting my stuff together to send to Sid.....I've gotta find my extra copy of the I29F to send him. I did have one question - do we have to send a CERTIFIED copy of our Birth Certificates (the USC?) I see so many different responses?

Caityrose - I LOVE salsa dancing - and how fun to do it in Mexico! I miss Mexico....I really wanted to take our honeymoon down in Playa del Carmen, but since he can't leave the States, we're settling for Vegas - ha!

Stevi - I completely agree with you! It's been great to have such a good group of people to lean on for support and I'd hate to see it all end....l'll be here with you for a looonnnng while yet :-)

Hi Manila.....I never received an approval online or via email. My status still is listed as "received and pending", however according to the NOA2 that I received in the mail, I was approved on 7/23. I received the hard copy NOA2 in the mail on Monday, July 28th.....your fiance should be getting it soon since it's been a week already. Has it been a full 7 days or 5 or so?

we were approved last july 22 thru email,same day that he called CSC and he heard the recording that we were already approved and said that they've already sent the approval notice via mail.it has been 7 full days and no NOA2 hard copy yet sad.gif

do you think it has something to do with where he lives?he lives in idaho but that's still a part of US and i dont know why it's taking them real slow.


Hmmm - I'm in Milwaukee, WI which is further from California than Idaho, so I don't think that it's because where he lives....I would wait until Friday and if you don't get it by then, I would call the CSC again and ask if they can resend it b/c it seemed to get lost in the mail? Sorry to hear about this mishap!!!

It's me again,

I was finally able to bring up results at DHL. Of course we have no way of really knowing if it is ours or not, but I did see a package leaving NVC today to London, and I pray that it is ours.

JLRSRK, there is also one going to Mumbai, India. I don't really know if that is your embassy or not, but when I saw India, I thought I would let you know.

There are 42 packages that JUST LEFT NVC just a half hour ago!!! The status changed as I was looking at the site from "scheduled" to "shipment picked up".

Good afternoon everyone! My spirits are just so much higher now that we are getting closer to being together forever! I just followed Stevi's steps in calling the NVC to see if my case was rec'd yet. The woman was soooo incredibly nice and helpful! I rec'd my case number and she said that it should take a week to process and leave their center....then it's completely in the hands of the US Embassy in Mumbai. So it sounds like things are rolling right along nice and smoothly!

If anyone is leary on calling the NVC, don't be - they are super friendly!

Hi everyone!!

Well, just as I suspected! I rec'd my NOA2 today via snail mail!!!!! Online, my case still says "received and pending" and the last update is 7/23....but I'm holding the approval in my hand! YAY!!!!!! So for everyone who is not getting the updates online, don't fret, your approval is probably right around the corner in snail mail!!!! So glad we're now on a faster ride biggrin.gif biggrin.gif !!!!

Hey all....I keep checking my email for what seems hour after hour, and still no change since the touch on 7/23! I'm PRAYING and HOPING that I will be in the same boat as the others who get the hard copy NOA2 via snailmail and never get the email or have their status on the USCIS website change! I may have to call and ask what's up since all these approvals are happening right around my time too! I'm very happy for all of you, but would like to be in that same boat as the rest of you :-)

I'll tell you this - same happened to me, but I was the one in the States waiting for my foreign boyfriend. We talked every day, most of the day through MSN messenger. After a little while, he started to disappear for days. I would be worried sick that something had happened. I thought maybe there was another woman there, but when I asked he said no. So I kept going and eventually everything was approved and he came here. ONLY 1 WEEK AFTER HIM ARRIVING, I RECEIVED AN E-MAIL FROM THE OTHER WOMAN IN HIS COUNTRY SAYING THAT HE WAS HER BOYFRIEND AND THAT HE HAD LIED TO HER TOO. I tried to forgive and forget, but it has haunted me. Now he has been here a year and he wants a divorce. Just be careful. Don't try to play down your fears, they could be the truth. If he gets mad when you ask about another woman, I personally think it's a bad sign. If he can talk about it calmly and assure you that that is not happening, then maybe you could be wrong. Just be careful.

have been wanting to put this out there for some time so I might as well do it now.

In general our experience was like anyone else's. A lot of waiting for the NOA2 and then the scheduling of the interview. Everything is nerve wracking and you are always afraid someone is going to tell you sorry and hand back months of hard work. Looking back it's one of those things that you just have to wait on and plug through it and it should all work out, but don't expect it to be a cake walk.

As we were called up to the first window for the interview, they asked my fiance like 2 questions in Spanish and then the woman started to ask me things in English like he wasn't even there. I didn't appreciate that since my fiance didn't speak English. As for the questions, we are just simply not super sentimental people and it really seems that's what they like. When they asked us when we started dating we said the general "oh in January of 2010" and we looked at each other searching for an approximate date. We do not celebrate our "one month of dating" anniversary or even the "one year" anniversary. We starting dating that month but we didn't mark it on our calendar. That was the first thing. Then I got the questions about our wedding plans. As others have stated it seems as though you should just make up a date even if you don't have one just to appease them. We had talked about a date but couldn't finalize it because of WAITING FOR A VISA. So I gave them the date I hoped for and she started asking about the wedding dress. I had already bought it and I loved it, but since I am a simple person, it was a simple dress - your basic strapless without beading, without embroidery and it's only distinguishing feature was one large pleat/fold in the front and light grey in color. So I gave her exactly what it looked like which I realize sounds like pretty much any generic wedding dress description, but that was my dress. After about 15 minutes of that I was waiting for the "your approved" statement and instead we got the question "could you come back at 4 p.m. today for a more extensive interview." Of course we said yes and were sent away with an appointment slip to go sweat out 2 hours. My poor fiance tried to calm me down as we got some food and prepared for the "Stokes interview" as it's called.

We returned and had to wait more, then they called us and he went first. They interviewed him for about 40 minutes while I waited and then he had to wait out of sight while they called me down then he went up to wait. The interviewer was different from the other two people we had talked with and it was a young male. I answered basic questions about my fiance and his family and things like music he likes. Then things got a little more personal. I was asked when was the last time we had sex? where was it? did he use a condom? I was asked who initiates use of the condom and do I ever let him not use one. I could not believe I was being asked things like that but of course I answered all of the questions not wanting any problems and possibly being denied a visa. At the end of everything my fiance was called back down and the guy said that we had passed but we'd have to wait for a decision because he was not authorized to make the final decision.

Following that, we had no further problems with getting the visa, everything arrived fine and we are now in the US, but I sort of want to bring this up with someone here in the US. My family has told me to just let it go and not cause waves, but it really makes me mad that things like that are allowed and no-one is going to say anything for fear of getting denied. Is that really a legal line of questioning? Or am I just being a prude American? Did that happen to anyone else? Before the interview we had talked about things in our relationship, but I didn't want to try hashing out exact answers that we didn't have because I didn't want us to sound like we had scripted what we said. Now I think we should have done something like that just to give them what they wanted to hear.

I HAVE THOUGHT THE SAME THING!!! My husband is from Ecuador and I am the American and I sometimes wish we had stayed in Ecuador. There are things about my own culture I don't like (I work 24/7) and he will have a hard time finding a job here(language and profession). I don't want to rock the boat, but this is a serious topic you should consider. I want to write more but I have to go!!! I have a very strong opinion on it!!

When we first submitted our petition, I went back and looked at the receipts for all our airline tickets, that helped w/ putting dates on the back of all the pictures. I was a bit ####### about it and printed out the dates, names and locations on mailing labels and stuck them on the back of every photo submitted. Also, not sure if your photo album works the same, but when I upload pictures to my laptop, it auto-creates a folder with the date of when the picture was taken, so that helped too. I'm sure you can make a guesstimate on when the pictures were taken, just think back to some of your trips.

I am glad to announce my approval and am somewhat saddened because I know there are people who have applied before me that are still waiting..I had no touches, just an approval e-mail at 10:30 eastern time stating our approval...Actually I got 2 e-mails...strange??? Anyways...on to the next step..I am planning on going to the interview..so hopefully the rest will go well..Thanks to everyone here and their help...its always nice sharing with people in the same situation..

Another Approval!!!

I had a touch on 03/16/09 and the website still shows case pending. But today, I got the approval notice in mail dated 03/16/09.. I took about 5 business days to arrive to Wisconsin..

A touch might be an indication that your approval notice is in the mail.. Good luck to those who are still waiting...

I had sent my petitions ovenright via USPS and it arrived there on Jan 9th. I looked at the back of the cashed check , but it is hard to read.
I was looking at Igor's list.. I noticed the # of applications filed have declined in the recent months.
K1 filed (obtained from Igor's list) for the last few months

Augst 08 =97
September = 82
October =78
Novemeber = 49
December = 29
January = 16 so far

I think this shows a signifciant decline for past few months and let us hope that we will get our approval fast.

I sent my fiance petition on Jan 8th, check was cashed on Jan 12th, No NOA1 yet. Hopefully I will get it shortly. What do you guys think.. would the current recession would have an impact on how many people file for visas? My thought is that less people will file due to income and hopefully that would result in fast processing for those who have filed.

Hi, I had my biometrics in July then yesterday I received a yellow notice requesting that i take 3 years worth of tax returns to my interview. I submitted this paperowork with my N400.
I do not have an interview date. Is this a standard letter? Has anyone else had this letter. I attempted to contact customer services but they really were no help. We will be moving states December (military move) I really would love this to be sorted out by then so things to not have to change offices.

If any one could shed some light I would be grateful.

Yup, that is the standard letter...just go to IRS website and request tax transcripts. I got them within few weeks. They didn't even ask for them at the interview, but who knows...better safe than sorry.

I think I figured it out - the last one ... over 45 days. They gave me 2 choices - today or tomorrow. Today won't work for me so I'll go at 10:15 tomorrow (hope that works for my better half who will have to cover for me at work.) I guess I'll have more to report at this time tomorrow.
