You have more than enough to scale the process easily. I don't know about items 6 & 7 though. Letters you wrote yourselves? I think they prefer letters from 3rd parties addressed to you both.

It's a letter we sent (from both of us) with our signatures to the management and it was sent back to us with a letter of acknowledgment. It is signed and stamped by the management of the rental place.

I don't know who to ask to adjust the title of the TOPIC...can anyone help?!?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDocuments needed
Udiken,

You should receive a checklist of documents to bring along with your interview letter. Relax! My fiancee went through Chennai and it was a very easy experience for her. I think I emailed you about this earlier. Let me know if you have any other questions.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresquestion about K-1 and being married before....
Some people choose to have a non-legal ceremony for friends and family prior to their "official" wedding in the US. If you choose to go this route, the best thing would be not to mention it at the time of the interview to avoid any complications.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 process .....Questions on packet
Are you saying you haven't sent in the I-129F petition yet? If so, you don't need to worry about the I-134 just yet. You should wait until your petition is approved to complete the affidavit of support and collect your supporting financial documents. You want them dated as close as possible to your fiancee's interview date.

Financially, you should be ok with your current job, but you may want to get a co-sponsor just to be safe seeing as you only have 1 tax return.
vamsiNot TellingIndia2006-02-09 14:10:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWork Letter
If you are referring to your employment letter then all it needs to say is when you started, your status(ie. full-time, part-time), title and salary. Just have it signed by your HR director and make sure it is printed on company stationery. It is really very simple.
vamsiNot TellingIndia2006-02-09 16:13:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWHAT NOW?
Check out the AOS guide on this site. You basically need to file the I-485 application to adjust status. You also need to include the I-864 affidavit of support. You can also file for employment authorization along with your AOS application using the I-765 form.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresA Number????
If the beneficiary has never applied for another visa then they probably won't have an A#. In this case, just put 'NONE' in the appropriate space. Once the I-129F petition is approved, they should be assigned an A# and it will be on the NOA2 above the beneficiary's name.
vamsiNot TellingIndia2006-02-15 12:45:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAlien Number
Check the visa and see if the A# is indicated on there. If not, just put 'UNKNOWN' where asked for the A#. You should be fine doing this.

Good luck the rest of the way!
vamsiNot TellingIndia2006-02-21 14:25:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWe got approved!! Now What?

Boiler is correct. If you filed for a K-1 then your Fiance would need to come into this country WITHOUT being married to you. She would need to arrive as your Fiance, not your wife. If you had a legal ceremony in her country then you've done something illegal. To enter as your wife she now needs a K-3 Visa. Seriously, seek help from an immigration lawyer.

According to the OP, his fiancee has already entered the US on her K1 visa. If they were legally married in Colombia then I'm not sure what there next step would be. You would assume they would have a marriage certificate from Colombia, but they couldn't use that to apply for AOS when they entered on a K1. In that case, I think they would have to abandon their K1 and pursue a K3 visa with his fiancee returning to Colombia. If they did not legally get married, then they should be able to have a court marriage, obtain a marriage certificate and apply for AOS with that. I would avoid mentioning their "unofficial" wedding ceremony at time of their interview though to avoid complications.
vamsiNot TellingIndia2006-02-22 16:54:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWe got approved!! Now What?
Maybe the OP meant they had a ceremonial marriage but did not file any paperwork to register the marriage and thus do not have any documentation to prove that they are married for AOS purposes.
vamsiNot TellingIndia2006-02-22 15:50:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresApplication Number on Cashed Check?
Assuming your application was transferred to California and most of the ones going through Texas still are, your number would start with WAC. I'm not sure what the prefix is for the Texas center, though I'm sure someone else in this forum will enlighten you.

Visa delayed: HORRIBLE TREATMENT AT THE LONDON EMBASSY?

Posting this in Subbies/K1/UK forums under different headings:

He will have to get a new police report and a new birth certificate. (He just got the current ones 7 weeks ago, mind you.)

He arrived for his 8am appt at 7am. Everything was going smoothly with the submission of documents, then he was asked to have a seat, which is the usual protocol. This was 830am by then.

He sat and watched others proceed to their interview, get visa's and leave throughout the morning AND AFTERNOON....

He was called for his 8am interview at 230pm!

He was #2 to out of 16, and the second to check-in.

There were two African (Nigerian) men out of the 16. He watched and waited as ALL of the other people were interviewed. He was called LAST.

When he was called, a very "unhappy looking" American woman conducted the interview, in which she asked him intense, personal, deep questions, such as "What is the name of your fiance's sister's children's school?" ohmy.gif She also asked the names of his fiance's 4 closest friends.....To each answer, she would stop and look at him for a very long time, then proceed to the next question. He had the answers to all questions about us and our lives, but he did not know the name of my sister's children's schools sad.gif

He was well prepared, and all of his documents were excellent. Then, the officer told him that he would need to re-do both the Nigerian Police certificate and the Nigerian birth certificate. Why? we have no idea. Both were authentic and obtained the proper ways.

He is to get them and then arrange for the courier to pick them and have them delivered back to the London Embassy.

The words that my fiance used to describe the treatment he felt from the interview were "Disrespect - Degrading - Demoralizing"

I've never heard his voice sound so exhausted. He was questioned down to his very "core" as he put it. And spoken to as if he were less than human.

We will be okay - There will always be people like this in the world. We will just continue to do the right thing, and pray that our reward is just a couple of weeks delayed.

Thanks for all of the positive words that have been sent our way. I will update later.

Stevi

Stevi - I am so sorry to hear how horrible your fiance was treated. I will be praying for you both. As Caity mentioned, your strength is very inspiring. Please let us know if there is anything we can do while you wait. Again, my prayers are with you.

Hugs,
Jenni

Hi all!

I know I'm not much of a regular poster, but I've posted a few times! smile.gif Just wanted to give the good news that Sid got his Visa today. His interview was very smooth and only lasted 8 mins! I'll be posting a review in the "Reviews: Embassy" section later! His planned POE is Newark, NJ on Friday, November 7th!

It's been a long journey, and I know it's not over completely, but I think the hardest part is now done. So for those of you who are still waiting for that magic word "approved" please don't lose faith - it will happen!!!!

Wishing you all the best on the remaining journey - whatever that may be!!!

Take care

Hi everyone! Glad to hear everything is moving along so smoothly with the rest of you! Just wanted to pass along some awesome advice I got in another board (Regional: South Asia). I posted a question as to what others experience was after submitting Packet 3 - how long to wait for the interview, ect....well someone suggested I call the DOS (Department of State) to find out the interview date after we've waited 2 weeks since the packet 3 was submitted. So I called today - #202-663-1225....I held abt 30 mins for an operator though. Very nice woman asked for my case number and applicants name. She was able to tell me that the interview is scheduled for October 8th at 7:30 am! Packet 4 went out on 22nd August, so if my fiance doesn't get it in about a week, she said to contact the consulate directly. So I suggest if you are waiting for an interview date and it has been abt two weeks since you submitted Packet 3, doesn't hurt to call and see if you can get your date! :-)

Good luck everyone!!!!!

Hi there,

Yesterday Sid submitted all his info for Packet 3 to the US Embassy in Mumbai. They told him that the interview will be scheduled in 2 months! That's a bummer b/c I was hoping he'd be here by October end, at the latest....oh well, now I'm thinking November....not too far off, but enough! :-) I was looking at the interview schedule online and it looks like someone who has NVC case number from July has an interview on Sept 4th! That's crazy!!! I thought I read somewhere that the case numbers from the NVC are julian dates? Does anyone know??

Hope the rest of you are able to get your interviews scheduled very soon.....Take care and keep smiling!

Hi everyone!

Hope you all had a good weekend! Too bad it's over so soon! I have to go to bed now b/c I have to work at 3am for one of my projects that is rolling in - Yikes - normally I would work out of my house, but our access has been temporarily disconnected...so I have to drive abt 30 mins into the office!! So it's time to hit the sheets now :-)

I did have a question - as I have been getting everything ready to send to Sid. I cannot find my 2005 tax returns....I know it's somewhere in this house, but at the moment I cannot find them! Are three years necessary? I have my W2's and 1040 forms for every year but '05. Do I just need to send the latest or is the three years necessary. Just thought I'd ask before I go back to my accountant and tear this house upside down looking for them :-)

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend and have a great start to another work week!!!

Goodnight!

Hi Everyone!

Happy Weekend! :-)

Congratulations Possum!

I'm so happy to see all these approvals that keep coming! We have been some lucky people since I see some people still waiting since Jan....

I started working on getting my stuff together to send to Sid.....I've gotta find my extra copy of the I29F to send him. I did have one question - do we have to send a CERTIFIED copy of our Birth Certificates (the USC?) I see so many different responses?

Caityrose - I LOVE salsa dancing - and how fun to do it in Mexico! I miss Mexico....I really wanted to take our honeymoon down in Playa del Carmen, but since he can't leave the States, we're settling for Vegas - ha!

Stevi - I completely agree with you! It's been great to have such a good group of people to lean on for support and I'd hate to see it all end....l'll be here with you for a looonnnng while yet :-)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
