PhilippinesHelp in rescheduling from Aug 19th fiasco..phones busy

With all due respect to you,, the phone number listed in Hanks posting is WRONG,,when is the last time any of you have tried it,,I am simply asking for the correct number and no one here seems to be able to help.

yet everyone says "I called them blah blah blah,,," well I am simply asking WHAT NUMBER ARE YOU PEOPLE USING?" its a simple question really,,,,

in respose to your statement about embassy staff,,,,well human or not they dropped the ball on my petition,,,,they admitted to not contacting my fiancee on thursday so she could be in line early friday AM.

and they refused to reschedule her saying that the embassy will be contacting her,,,,just another run-around,,,,the embassy itself doesnt flood,,, so I will not make excuses for these people

I want results

THE NUMBER 214-571-1600 doesnt work!!! its constatntly busy,,,,meaning its not a working number,so what number should I be calling from the USA?? just a simple question

I know I seem to come across as not being nice,,but I am really stressed here and I am asking for help from people who are in this process right now,,I am just venting not at the fellow forum members but the situation as it stands

You are certainly correct...you are coming across as not being nice !!!

We all get stressed over the Visa process, it is complicated and intimidating.....but being a jerk will not get you very far !!!

You can be stressed and still be nice at the same time....we are all here to help, but appreciate it, don't abuse the efforts of others....

Just my own personal thoughts and opinions !!!

cjmc

She went back to the Embassy Friday afternoon but was told that they are closed,,she never received an email or a call from the embassy,,,what an organized bunch they are,,as long as they have been doing this you would think they could get this right,,I guess I will wait until Monday

From what I understand, Monday is a Holiday.....

PhilippinesStarting Our New Lives Together....Curt & Dahlia Moving Forward !!!!

Dahlia and I continue to blend our lives together, her first week here in the US is almost over.....

Her clothes are all sorted out and put away....we are driving around together and Dahlia is finding all the stores.....ugggg !!! and I see I am in lots of trouble with that....letting her loose for the first time might turn out to be a disaster....wow.gif

Dahlia is certainly putting her touch all over in our home....loving my plants...moving a few things around and laying down some new household rules.....as I said, we are blending, blending, blending........

We are clearly in "Wedding Mode"  slowly making progress towards our big day on Sept 28th :-)

Planning a wedding together is certainly a good test of how each of us will deal with stress......

Both of us continue to see how our relationship together is growing even more strongly every day as we learn new things about each other......good communications, patience and tolerance is certainly a big part of our lives...dancin5hr.gif

Well, I shouldn't be so hard on you, since you are new here, but we have rules in the USA that need to be followed.  I feel it's my place to try and help cj out here:

There is no salt and pepper on the eggs.  I see no butter on the toast.  You failed to provide at least 3 choices of jelly/jam.  There is no coffee/juice/milk/Crown~n~Coke to wash down the food with.  The rose is a nice touch, but the TV remote would have been better.  And where's the REST of the bacon?  That's barely enough for a 6-month old baby!

I appreciate your effort, that was a nice start; but hope you plan to step up your game soon.  And please tell me you woke him by gently rubbing his feet so that he was not startled awake too suddenly...

I was talking to a couple of Seattle members on here, and we decided to post on here about a possible get-together to see who might be interested. Date is yet to be determined, as my wife and I will be traveling thru the area sometime early September on our way to the PI.  Just wanted to get an idea who all might be interested/available to maybe link up for dinner or other event.

Dahlia and I are very interested....it would be great to get together for dinner somewhere...of course, I still have to get her here.....her Visa and Passport are still stuck at the US Embassy !!! :-(   due to the flooding.

We are thinking now that hopefully next week we will see some movement forward.....we must stay positive !!!!

I wouldn't say useless... some things are good.  Like braces. Amazing to me how cheap dental services are here, and also how many people have terrible or very few teeth in their head.  I can use the VA hospital in MNL if needed, but I can't see that as a HUGE bonus, just a handy stop-off to maybe replace a visit to the US.

PhilippinesFilipino Drivers License ok for Washington State ???

visitor = tourist visa.   I wrote about that, earlier in yer topic.  What's up?

Again, it does not matter what you and I think is reasonable, rational or the right thing....it is what the DMV verifies what they want and how they interpret their rules.

I will go and visit a DMV office personally and ask them since I can never get anyone on the phone....I will let everyone know what I find out.

Cheers !!!

PhilippinesFilipino Drivers License ok for Washington State ???

She can leave anytime she so chooses, what she can't do is enter again without the AP or green card.

She is never a visitor as she entered with a K-1 visa.

I stand corrected.....you are right....she can leave anytime...but what happens if you would overstay the 90 days and then try and leave....bad....

I guess it boils down to the definition of "Visitor" according to the Washington State interpretation, and I will try and figure that out....it really does not matter in the end what you believe in or what I believe in....it is what the bureaucrats say the rules are....and that is the problem...

Cheers,

cjmc

cjmcMalePhilippines2013-08-10 19:57:00
PhilippinesFilipino Drivers License ok for Washington State ???

So what were we talking about...?

It seems a two pronged issue.

The K1 Principle Applicant is a visitor, as he/she has stated intent to marry within 90 days but clearly can change his/her mind.  Thus if the state has a 1 year visit rule allowing foreign driver license he/she is covered at least to the day of the marriage.  I'll guess that even if stopped by the police there might be some warning but probably not a citation and certainly not a big issue until greater than 30 days past marriage which would be the true "indicator" of intent to no longer be a mere visitor.

But the real issue is the insurance company.  A traffic ticket pales into comparison to an accident which occurred when the foreign driver was driving.  Here the insurance company can simply say: "You had an obligation to inform us that you had another person in your household, having failed that, we will not cover this accident."  In this instance you could be left holding claims that could ruin you.

It seems to me that the OP called the insurance company, and documentation of that is probably enough.  Since the insurance company was notified and the insurance did not forbid the "visitor" to drive, in a legal battle the insurance company would likely (IMHO) be forced to pay.  Though in this case the insurance company should be notified about a significant change of status such as marriage.

That's my two cents.

I actually believe what you are saying is more true than the other points presented.....she is a visitor using the K1 Visa to legally be in the US for up to 90 days, she does not have a right to stay past 90 days and she can leave anytime she wants up to that point.....

WA State DMV states on their website that a visitor can legally drive if they have a foreign drivers license for up to 1 year.

Once we are married, then her status technically changes, she has established residency by being married to me, she cannot leave and she then could not be considered a visitor......at that point, the 30 day clock starts ticking, tic,tic,tic.....to get get a resident drivers license.

I will certainly try and check this with DMV, hoping I can get accurate information.......I think I am dreaming....but I will try !!!!

Just my thoughts and ideas....

Cheers,

and the outcome was?  sorry - I am not tracking WA DMVs website ..

It looks like we are good for 30 days, she can practice driving in our area ......apply for the SS card right away, plan for the test as soon as possible when the SS card has been received.

I still plan on going to DMV to try and verify this path.

PhilippinesFilipino Drivers License ok for Washington State ???

You might be right, Darnell, but I looked on their site, and saw nothing about that.  Same thing here in AK.  That's why I recommended a call to the DMV.  And make sure you speak to a manager, NOT a desk flunkie.  We had met ALL the requirements on the AK DMV site, even had extra ID available, and still could not get a permit. It was frustrating.

I tried calling DMV but could never get anyone to answer, so I guess when I get back home, I will have to drive to one of their offices and talk to someone...and then making sure you get the correct information....uggggg !!!!

Cheers !!!! As the Journey Continues !!!

"Check with"?  You mean add her as a driver on the policy, right?

Yes, I called my insurance company and they can add her to my policy as long as she can legally drive in the State of Washington....it is up to me to make sure she is legal to drive :-)  and that is why I am trying to figure this out......

cjmcMalePhilippines2013-08-09 10:30:00
PhilippinesFilipino Drivers License ok for Washington State ???

She does not have to be married to you in order to be considered a resident: http://apps.leg.wa.g...?cite=46.20.021

She simply has to declare her intent to become a resident. The day she arrives in Washington is the day she intends to become a resident. Therefore, her Philippines driver license is good for 30 days from the date she arrives in Washington. After that, she can use her Washington State driver license.

Wow !!! If this is all true.......that is a pretty tight window of time to deal with to be able to legally drive after 30 days of setting foot on WA State soil...

Land at SeaTac....establish residency, get a SS number, get ready for the drivers test and then take the test, all in 30 days....again, WoW !!!

cjmc

cjmcMalePhilippines2013-08-09 10:22:00
PhilippinesFilipino Drivers License ok for Washington State ???

From the WA State Website it says the following:

If you?re from another country-

  • If you?re visiting Washington State, you may use your out-of-country driver license for up to 1 year.

I guess that until she is actually married to me, she would be considered a visitor because she cannot legally stay in the US past 90 days until she is married to me.

Once we are married, that establishes residency and also then the requirement to get a WA State drivers Lic within 30 days.....

That's how I am reading this but just wanted to see if anyone else has been down this road.

Thanks,

She has 30 days to obtain a WA license.

http://www.dol.wa.go...nse/moving.html

Hi Ryan- I have read that page before, but it also states that you have to establish residency and have a SSN....to apply. She cannot establish residency until we are married.

My question is can she legally drive with a Filipino Drivers License and for how long...she cannot even apply until she has established residency and that could happen as late as 90 days from when she arrived using the K1 Visa.

PhilippinesAdjustment of Status

Did you get the D.L. already with just a passport and SS card?   I ask because they list U.S. passport not a foreign passport.  For immigrants they list the green card or other immigrant I.D. with signature & photo

What it states on the Washington DOL website:

1. Proof of identity What you?ll need

Acceptable documents
  • We only accept original or certified copies of the documents listed below.
  • If you present multiple documents issued by a foreign government or organization, and we?ve approved of their issuance processes, we?ll accept them as separate documents. Currently, we accept multiple documents issued by:
    • Mexican government
    • Guatemalan government
  • We may ask for more documents.
  • This list may change without notice.
Stand-alone Documents
  • Washington State driver license, ID card, or instruction permit ? Valid or has expired within 1 year, has your signature, date of birth and photo.
  • Out-of-state driver license, ID card, or instruction permit (if you have a Social Security number) ? Valid or expired within 60 days and has your photo. Also tell us your Social Security number so we can verify it.
  • U.S. armed services ID card with photo ? Valid.
  • U.S. passport ? Valid, has your signature and photo (an emergency passport isn?t acceptable).
  • Immigration ID with signature ? Valid, from the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service, with:
    • Your signature and photo which are identifiable (I-327, I-551, I-571, I-766).
    • or
    • A ?Signature Waived? notation or encrypted signature on the back of the card.
  • U.S. Certificate of Citizenship or Naturalization ? An original with your signature and photo.
  • Department of Social and Health Services Children?s Administration (DSHS CA) ID letter ?
    If you're in:
    • Court-ordered foster care with DSHS, or
    • Another supervising Washington agency as your legal custodian, then
    • You may prove your identity with an ID letter from DSHS CA.

Have not gotten it yet, but we will bring everything with us that we have and let you know what happens....seems that a non- expired foreign passport with a certified birth certificate should work.....

PhilippinesAdjustment of Status

True, you can file AOS after the I-94 expires.  But you may not be able to get a DL or State ID if your I-94 is expired.  Happened to us in AK.  But AOS can be filed any time after marriage, provided A) You don't need to leave the country (can't get back in), and  2) You can save a few bucks waiting until the 2-year mark to file AOS, as your GC will just be issued as a 10-yr instead of a 2-year.

Your legal name for the marriage cert was the maiden one.  Your legal name now is your married one.  Small distinction, but important and some have gotten hung up on it.  AOS is after your got married, so all forms should be your married name.

In the State of Washington, all you need is your passport, SS Card and the address where you live to get a drivers license. I guess it varies from State to State on what they require.

I am also hoping that with the marriage certificate that we can get her drivers license in her married name.

Which bank?  USAA wouldn't add Roxy until she had a SSN or unless we filled out those pesky forms Niblet mentioned.  AFAIK, it is unlawful to open a bank account without either a SSN or an ITIN.

Hi Dave- Bank of America is where we were able to open an account without Dahlia's SSN ....it was a joint account so any interest income is reported to the IRS on the primaries SSN...

We did not have to fill out any special forms....seems that the interpretation of the rules and regulations varies from person to person and institution to institution....such is life, I see that everywhere !!!!

To everyone else- You can open a joint account without one party having a SSN....!!! that is a fact because we did it.... :-)

All Dahlia needed was her passport, they wanted two forms of ID but in the end that is all we had.

They said to just come back in when she does get her SSN so it can be added to the account, this way, the credit history on the credit card can be reported to the credit bureaus for her benefit also.

PhilippinesWhy are so many American Men connecting with Filipina's

Some real dumbasses on here, still, and and prolly always will be.  Sorry, Charles, but it's true.

The Philippines is a MATRIARCHAL society.  Look that up, read it, and understand it before you think they are a subservient group of women.  Some may be, but most aren't.  My wife isn't.  And I don't know very many who are.

But dedicated, loving, and jealous?  Yes.  Mine is.  And most I know are.  Also, harder working than most of the men in their society.

Why am I with mine?  What attracted me?  First, it was the glance across a crowded room.  Then a conversation.  Then a kiss I remembered for months afterwards, though it wasn't a sexual kiss at all.  But very sensual.   She kissed my core.  And then there's the scent... my wife doesn't seem to understand, but her smell without perfume draws me to her like no woman before.

Lots of things.  The beauty.  The hair.  The brown eyes that can be at once so full of love, and yet drip venom.  It's not about a race, nor a country. I wasn't looking for love when I found my Pinay.  But I'm thankful that our paths crossed, and very glad she saw something in me worth keeping. She's no better than a woman from any other country, except.... she loves ME.  And that makes her one of a kind.

Very well spoken !!! Thanks for your comment..... :-)
