PhilippinesLONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP

What a great time we live in with all the technology... very good statement.

Anyone remember when technology was a phone with a "party line" ?

PhilippinesLONG DISTANCE RELATIONSHIP

I believe also that a LTR can strengthen your relationship, in most cases, you learn how to communicate with your partner through necessity.

Since Dahlia and I started our relationship, we have used almost all the available types of communications....... email, Facebook, texting, phone calls, Skype, Viber, and even a SAT Phone and SAT internet....what a great time we currently live in with all this great technology. We spend hours and hours together everyday :-).

Also, because of these great ways of communicating, when we have been able to be together during the 5 trips I have made to the Philippines in the last 9 months, it has been like we have been together the whole time, the transition from "not being together" to "being together" has been great and the physical contact then just brings us even closer together......heart.gif

My good friend Bill, who has been married to Dahlia's older sister for over 18 yrs has shared with us what it was like back when they first met. They were writing each other letters everyday, and Bill's phone bill averaged over $500 per month, communicating by mail with weeks before delivery must have been a challenge...but we do what we need to do !!!

Dahlia and I use Skype most of the time, we both have MacBook Pro's with wifi on both ends and also at my office. This system has allowed us to be with each other for hrs and hrs everyday. With normal verbal conversation along with visual support, it has made it possible to be in each others lives the best you can without physically being together.

I am usually up at 4:00 am here in Seattle which is 7:00 pm in Angeles City....so we usually get 3 plus hours in before she goes to bed. Then when she gets up in the morning around 7-8:00 am, I am there waiting for her and we talk and share well into my evening.

We Skype while eating, when in bed....... :-) watching each other go to sleep....with our families for functions, birthdays, holidays, doing projects around the house, and even at my office.

One day, I wanted Dahlia to meet everyone in my office, so I set up my MacBook Pro at the front office door and she greeted everyone as they came to work.....wow !!! what a great experience. I have toured her around my office so she could see what it is like, also my home and the area around it.

Because of Skype and all the hours we have been able to visit with each other, we feel very connected and educated about each other in all aspects of life...it has certainly played a big role in being able to move our relationship forward in a positive way.

We have often said that when she gets here physically with me, that every once in a while.....we can go to separate rooms and Skype each other for old times sake.... dancin5hr.gif

USCIS Service CentersIR1/CR1

We're relatively new here but reading topics gave us a load of information never known to us before VJ. We know that processing times differ whether your CR1/IR1 is a stand alone petition or if there are other factors like kids and whatnot but what we noticed is that in general, K1 visa filers have been approved..say processed faster compared to I-130 in general.

Welcome to VJ....you are certainly correct, lots of information here....start digging and ask questions if you are in doubt of anything.

Good luck on your journey !!!

National Visa Center (Dept of State)How to call to NVC?

Hello Everyone,

Trying to call NVC and if there is no connection. phoned last week and today, and they are not available. What's going on NVC?
I was sent the DS_230 and I was curious if everything was good and that they have received my paper, however, after more than a month.

I called them this morning as soon as they were open at 7:30 am....no problem, had to only wait about 5 min and then I was talking to an operator.

NOA2 came on June 13th....I called NVC and they told me....15 business days for them to receive the file, but yet some have already received their case numbers from the June 13th notice....who knows what the deal is....we are waiting on our government :-)

National Visa Center (Dept of State)The Waiting room for fiancé visa case number is it 10 days or 20

I really think the amount of time to get the case number is a moving target.....depending on how many files they have to process...I received the NOA2 on June 13th and have not heard anything yet....I will start calling next week.

From what I am reading, by getting your case number by calling and not waiting for the official notification, will allow you to start moving forward...working on your medical would be the next big step. As soon as you have that case number....you can pay the Visa fee's, start working on your medical and interview date....

Good luck to everyone !!!!

PhilippinesAfter NOA2 Approved - Preparing for FORMS

We received our NOA2 on 6/13/13...from what I am reading, I can call the NVC to get our MNL case number eventually and do not have to wait for an official notification from the Manila Embassy....How long should I wait to start making that phone call based on current processing times ??

Once I have the MNL case number....can I then have my fiancé pay the application fee.....once that is done,  can we start working on an interview appointment date.....??

Can my fiancé get her CFO done at any time before the interview or do we again have to wait for the MNL case number...??

Thanks for any help on this....so much to understand and learn and I want to be prepared so there is no wasted time :-)

Cheers,

I am hearing a few things about a "NBI Clearance" that is also needed.

I cannot seem to nail down any clear information about that and I am told it is not the same as the "Police Clearance" could someone point me in the right direction for this....

Thanks so much for any help you can throw at me....I thought I had this figured out....ugggg !!!

Have you looked at Hank_ 's link? it pretty much walks you thru the entire process.  It's been a great help to me.  But, basically, per Hank_ the priority date is the received date on your NOA1.  So according to your timeline, 27 Feb 2013

Wow !!! Thanks so much....now when I go back and read Hank's instructions....it says that :-)

We will try to register again....

PhilippinesScheduling the interview.....Help Please !!!!

I have read in several places that once you receive your Case # over the phone from NVC and pay your Visa fee, you can then schedule your interview date.

During the online registration for the interview on the scheduling website, they ask you for your "Priority Date" the priority date is not on the NOA2 so how can you proceed ???

Looks like you have to wait until you have received the actual Case # notification from NVC.....is this true ?? Am I missing something here ???

Wow....this is certainly getting more complicated as we go....thank you all so much for your help !!!

PhilippinesHow long now for K1 package to process thru Manila after leaving NVC ?

If you have the email confirmation for the interview from USEM with the MNL # on it, don't worry about NVC, you just need one or the other to make SLEC happy.

Hank- I just looked at the email and it does not have our MNL # on it

PhilippinesHow long now for K1 package to process thru Manila after leaving NVC ?

Did you print the confirmation page after scheduling the interview online?

Did you list an email address when setting up the account?  Did you get an email from the embassy confirmation the appointment (check your spam folder) ?   You can call the embassy, or email them requesting they send another confirmation email.

Lastly, even though you already have you MNL # from NVC you can email them (per the info in my link) and they will reply with the MNL # , you can then print that to make SLEC happy.

Hi Hank-    Yup...confirmation page printed, email confirmation response for the interview from- no-reply@ustraveldocs.com, received.

I will email the NVC having them reply with our MNL #

Thanks for the info, as always, you are certainly a big help.

I don't see this requirement on the official government website on what is required for the CFO, am I missing something here ?? Has anyone been asked for this information during the CFO ??, especially the tax and paystub information.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Is this plausible?

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Is this plausible?

Yes, I am a US Citizen and yes I do know he has committed a federal crime. I shouldn't have said he has not committed any crime for he has. What I wanted to emphasize is that besides overstaying which is obviously a huge crime, he has not committed any other crime or had trouble with the law. This is what I meant when I commented on him not having committed any crime. I should have been more specific when I have posted the comment and will do so from now on.

To get back to the question, I was under the understanding that one has to file i-212 for readmission. That even if you do petition for i-601, you still have to petition for i-212 as well. Seeing as it is hard to prove extreme hardship, I was wondering if he can file for i-212d3 and i-192 at the same time. i-212d3 to be temporarily allowed even with the bar and i-192 so he can have advanced permission to enter as a non-immigrant so that he can wait inside the country while I invite him to US. Excuse me if I am wrong, but I am under the impression that I can invite him if he does not have the ban on him and that even without the ban, it takes years for him to get a green card. I want him to be able to enter US as a non-immigrant with i-212d3 and prolong his stay with i-192 as a non-immigrant. It said on USCIS site that i-192 is a waiver for advanced permission to enter as a non-immigrant and can petition for this if you already have in your possession appropriate documents. Does not me inviting him fall under appropriate document? If it does not what falls under appropriate document? I would greatly appreciate if someone can answer my questions for I am turning 21 soon and if possible I want to invite him as soon as possible.

Also sorry for the long writing but does anyone have any clue to what the ICE officer meant when he told my father not to worry for he should be able to come into US after I turn 21? He told my father specifically that I should be able to bring him in if he pays some fine. He said that ICE have no reason to deny his admission and that DHS also SHOULD NOT (emphasis on should not for it is not definitive) have any problem with him entering for he is not a threat to national security. Did he meant i-212 and i-601?

Thanks for reading my posts and I eagerly await for more answers.
