Finally finished & put the I-129F in the mail!!! May has been a big month for me this year....saw my sweetie, she said "yes", had a birthday and completed the I-129F!!! Hope you guys accept me into the May group? I'd feel strange being associated with any other month, lol

Here's hoping for no RFE's and an NOA2 in the not too distant future for all of us!!!

Some not-so-good news for you Jeff: since you live in the Sunshine State, your petition will be sent to Vermont. Pull up a chair and grab a cooler of cold ones. The wait is going to be a bit lengthy.

The USCIS system doesn't recognize our case number :-( Guess we could only wait for the email updates...

How long has it been since you received your NOA1? What site are you going to when you try to check?

yeah but at the same time its the last month u spent in ur homecountry with ur loved ones :) what is igors list? i´m sorry but i would like to check there as well :) thank u!

Not exactly true. My fiancée is in the Philippines (and pregnant :D) and I'm in the U.S. Yes, I do have family here. But, most of them are about 3 hours away or more from me. I would rather have my fiancée waiting for me at home. :D

As for Igor's list, it's a list that accesses all the VJ timelines that have been created and compiles them into a single source separated by visa type and case status upto NOA2. It can be found here. Currently, you're number 236. As people update their timelines after they get their NOA2's, you'll move up higher on the list.

yep u were right, ray-j!!Now the wait begins...but wait is half of a year or 9 month in comparison to the rest of ur life, right ;) (I am trying to stay positive here...lol)

Yes. You're right. 5 months seems like 5 years. But, the good news is that you we're both at the CSC. They've been crankin' out the NOA2's lately. Yesterday, before I started work, I was at #202 on Igor's list. When I checked last night, I was #188. My jaw just about dropped to the floor of my truck. I was #265 when I started this process. Keep an eye on my signature. You'll see my estimated NOA2 date range keep getting shorter and closer. It was September when I got my NOA1.

RECEIVED MY HARD COPY NOA1 WOOOOOOT alright Im bout to call the misses! I hope she doesnt fall over with joy...she is pregnant ^_^

One week down, 32 (+/- 2) more left to go ^_^

Congrats! We're expecting our first little angel together as well. She's due in October. If you need any information about CRBA, just let me know. I'd be happy to share what I know. :)

our papers got to dallas last monday, may 16th. No NOA1 hardcopy yet. didnt apply for gettin NOA1 per text or emai.

Okay. There's usually a couple of days worth of lag time between when it gets to Dallas and when a NOA1 is generated. So, if your file got there on the 16th, your NOA1 could've been generated on the 18th which means that you could be seeing it in the mail around Wednesday of this week.

Our package was delivered on the 18th and we still haven't received a notification. Should this be cause for concern?

It takes about a week to get the paper NOA1, depending upon where you live.

I was told that they might not let you enter the states while the visa is in progress. But i hope it will be fine! Good luck everyone!

It is possible they could deny entry. I've heard of at least one instance where a Customs Officer accused a beneficiary of abusing the VWP because it was his 3rd trip within a few months. However, the CO at the airport knew about the K-1 application because he had been through the same airport on the other two times.

HI GUYS i am new to this...we sent our documents on friday, 13th, they recived it on may 16th..no NOA1 yet tho...good luck everyone!! hope it goes by quick. are any of u guys planning on going to the states while the visa is in progress?

My fiancée and I are expecting our first child together in October. So, I plan on being there for the birth. My mother and I are flying out there on 10/9/11 and staying a month. In that time, I hope to be able to have her get her medical done and be with her for her interview. If all goes well, we'll get to bring her back with us. All I can do in the meantime is hope and pray for that.

Is there anyone of you is able to track your case status yet with the number on the NOA1?

Yes. Use your receipt number here: https://egov.uscis.g...is/Dashboard.do and create your account to receive electronic updates. You can log into your account from time to time to see if your case update date has changed. If it has, then you've been "touched;" meaning your case file has been handled by someone and updated activity has been entered into the USCIS computer system.

It'll come soon, both of you are lucky Im at vermont be grateful to be in Tsc and Csc... welcome!

For K-1 applications, the Texas Service Center is not technically a service center. It's more of a mail depository and forwarding point to either CSC or VSC.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMay 2011 Filers

The NOA1 we got doesn't have this information on it. So we'd been wondering. Thanks,Ray-J!

Yeah, I had to look at the email notification to see what service center my case was transfered to. I can't stress enough how important it is to create/update your timelines. It gives everyone an idea of when they might receive their NOA2. Lately, the CSC has been really cranking through their case load. When I filed last month, I was number 270-ish on Igor's list. As of right now, I'm at 216. This means that a lot of people have updated their timelines to reflect their approvals, since the list pulls the data directly from the VJ timeline data.

We filed in May as well! So how do you guys know which service center your applications was forwarded to??? We just don't know where ours is now...

If you filled out the form for electronic alerts, it will tell you in the email you receive. If not, then it depends upon what state you live in as to which service center it gets forwarded to. A list of states vs. what service center will take care of them can be found on this post.

Wow you really know your stuff! Yeah I wish and hoped I would get mistakenly sent out west lol. Thanks for all the tips. And you was very right to the other post info about the midnight text/email lol what's up with that , I was very caught off guard lol

It's probably called batch processing. My guess is that all the data sits in a que file somewhere and gets sent out at a certain time when internet usage is pretty low. As for me knowing my stuff, it comes with asking a lot of questions and a lot of research. You'll become familiar with it all soon, too. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMay 2011 Filers

I felt the samw way in the last few weeks it seemed to take forever to do the first step because first it took days to get all paperwork and proof needed, copied, and a few backups, pics copied etc... Then to get cash I needed took a few weeks to offset minor bills etc, then finally to postoffice and wait for the service I hired to double check (honestly not sure I needed after sites like thus and others gave me all the info I needed to do myself) and waited for noa1. Now I am here for the long wait and waiting at least with you guys.

I see your case is at the VSC. I pray that they'll pick up the pace. CSC has been really rockin' lately. Some things to check: your estimated date of adjudication will change periodically based upon other's timeline data, log into your USCIS account from time to time and see if the update date has changed at all (if so, you've been touched (feels good, doesn't it?)), you can also check where you rank on Igor's list (the more people that update their timeline with their NOA2's, the higher number you be on the list of people still waiting for theirs). I'm an April filer, by the way.

YAY!!! I just tracked my application and it was delivered today to the Dallas, TX center. I'm guessing it will be processed this week. I'm praying that the the time between NOA1 and NOA2 is shorter than the average. Wouldn't that be nice?

Welcome to the hurry-up-and-wait line. Be prepared for a midnight text message if you filled out the form for electronic notification. If you did, check the email they'll send to see what service center they forwarded your case to (it's based upon what state you live in).

Have you read the guides? there is absolutely not "jargon", its really straight forward.... I am myself was not familiar at all with immigration and could understand so if she got this far she should be able to understand the guides.

http://www.visajourn...he_NVC_ShortCut

Thank you. I hadn't come across that page yet. I think it'll be a big help to her. As for the jargon, while it may be well explained in the guides it has taken a while to be able to wrap my head aroudn what exactly some of the abbreviations mean; such as NVC, NOA, etc. I guess it all comes with practice and exposure to the system. Thanks for everything, everyone. :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelping a friend with her husband's visa

Have your friend come on the VJ website and view the guides and NVC guides. It would be a lot more beneficial for your friend to see these and read them than for you to try and tell her all the long steps.

Actually, she's a member here. I guess the guides aren't worded simply enough for her. You have to admit, there's a lot of jargon that's used on this site. It can be quite daunting for someone not really familiar with everything to fully understand. So, what do you say, Inky? Having been through it yourself, already, does it sound like she should start getting her husband's documents ready to send for his interview?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHelping a friend with her husband's visa
As the title of this post eludes to, I'm trying to help a friend understand what her next steps are in trying to get her husband to the States from Ethiopia. From what I understand, she's at the point where she's filed her DS-230 and paid the associated fees. This whole process is kind of Greek to me as I'm starting my journey for a K-1 for my bride-to-be. She's a little confused as to what her next steps are. From what she's told me, it almost sounds to me like she's just about at the point where her immigrant husband should start preparing for his interview. How far off base am I?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325a Question

He owned the truck. A letter of explanation is fine but a PO box would be the address listed on the G325a. FYI, some people who live in "houses" only have a PO Box for an address. I once had a Route and Box address, where the "box" was three miles from my home. I suppose I could have listed the name of the ranch but it was a third of a county and fourteen miles from town on 8 miles of unpaved roads, the bulk of which were oilfield maintained private roads.

Pushbrk et al,

Thanks for the feedback. I wish I did own the truck. I would've purchased it given the chance (I had planned on it). I was leasing it with the option to purchase at the completion of the lease. Oh, well. That part doesn't matter, though. What does matter is that my question was addressed. Thank you all for your knowledge and wisdom in immigration matters. It's a pleasure to know you.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325a Question

you needto pay for your permits, youneed to renew your driver lic , you need your doctors certificate, your credit card, statements, your insurance for your rig, so where are all those things going addressed to your rig, are you kidding me, you pay taxes addressed to your truck , yea right,

I was a leased-operator for one of the major reefer companies in this country. They handled all the plates, insurance (they were a self-insurer), permits, etc. My driver's license had just been renewed from getting my CDL; so that wasn't going to be an issue for a number of years. I had a post office box for the time I was a long-haul driver for them.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresG-325a Question
I'm a truck driver. For a while, I was a long-haul driver who had sold as much as I could and put the rest of my belongings, except for what I needed on the truck with me, into storage. My home, for a time, was litteraly on 10 big rig wheels. These days, I'm running regional. All I do is from Chicago to Iowa and back. Now that I've begun my fiancee's visa journey, what would I put on the G-325a for the time that I lived in my truck? Would I put the dreaded "H" word of homeless? I guess, technically speaking I was homeless by choice. Or, would it be better to list that I was living in a semi and the dates that are associated with that period?

Okay. Thanks.

Also, I'm working on getting the I-129F packet put together. As I understand from the guides, I need to submit separate letters of intent from both my fiancee and myself along with separate G-325a's for both her and I. Correct?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Questions

You can use a PO box for correspondence but they also want a physical address. During the time of our second K1 we had some issues in the area with mail box theft and I switched mid petition ( right at NOA2 because the first didn't arrive ) to a PO box for my mailing address. In the rare case where they suspect fraud on part of the USC they want to be able to send someone out to check on things.

Well, yeah. That's understandable. But, isn't that what the line for "where do you intend to live" is for?

Okay, thanks for all the feedback.

I've ammended my "how we met" details to read as such: "We met on a social networking website known as Tagged.com in late 2009. From there, our friendship grew to the point were it was decided that I, the petitioner, would fly over to meet her. After spending 6 days with Amy and her family, I realized upon returning home that I didn't want to be without her and proposed via Facebook on 1-17-11. Amy accepted on 1-18-11."

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F Questions
I currently have all my mail going to a P.O. Box while I get my affairs in order for my fiancee's I-129F application. I do see where it asks where we intend to live. Of course, that would be my physical home address. But, can I use my post office box for the address information in line 2?

For line 8b, what's an A#? Since I don't know, I'm sure I don't have one or need to fill out this line. But still, curiosity lurks. :)

For line 18 (where it asks about how we met), would this be sufficient? "We met on a social networking website known as Tagged.com in late 2009. From there, our friendship grew to the point were it was decided that I, the petitioner, would fly over to meet her. I spent 6 days with her and her family before returning on January 13, 2011. I didn't realize exactly how I felt about her until after I was home."

Thanks in advance.

Anything more than the above is way too much. You are describing how you MET IN PERSON, not how you proposed. You will both sign "letters of intent" that meets the requirement that you are willing to marry. They do not need love stories.

Okay, Gary. Thanks for the input. How's this version?

Thanks for all the advice so far. However, after taking the advice and crafting my section 18 of the I-129F to read:

Is a I-129F Supplement: Part B, Question 18, explanation of meeting in person really necessary? I think I was able to say everything that needed to be said within the space allowed on the I-129F. Thoughts and suggestions, everyone? Thanks in advance.

You would report the birth abroad and file the CRBA (consular report of birth abroad) at the Manila embassy so that the child can obtain a US passport.

If the child is born prior to the interview then your household size for the Affidavit of Support goes up by 1.

Thanks for the info. Luckily, my income is sufficient to exceed the support guidelines. I did find where it said that I would need the notarized letter for the consul stating that I'm aware of the pregnancy and that I plan on going forward with the marriage. However, if possible I would like to be present at the interview. Would I still need this letter? I'm thinking that it certainly couldn't hurt to have it anyway.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures2 pink lines & K-1 Questions
After finding out that my fiancée and I are expecting our first child together (her first child ever), I've started looking into other similar situations by searching through the forums a little. I do understand that being pregnant doesn't speed up the process, but will provide evidence of an on-going relationship to a point. With visa processing times running around 5 months at present, the race to try and get everything submitted and approved before the 7 month mark will be very tight. If unsuccessful, we'll have to deliver in the Philippines. Gary or Pushbrk, could you give some insight on what I'll have to do?

1. Will our child have U.S. citizenship by birthright since I'm a USC and the father?

2. Obviously, I'll put none for children for her on the I-129F since she's only about a month into the pregnancy. But what about after the baby's born?

Everything I've read so far doesn't indicate that there will be a problem for the application. But I am concerned that they could deny at the interview based upon saying that she doesn't have any children. I am also aware that she'll have to delay some portions of the medical exam, such as x-rays and some vaccinations that would harm the baby if they're needed. She'll also be getting a letter from her doctor to confirm the pregnancy. I almost feel like I'm not covering something here, but that's what these forums are for. Help?!?

It's not like I'm the one paying for the paper and toner, anyway, since I'm using the company copier. But, I will take the suggesting of copying both covers. I'll be using my passport as both evidence of meeting within the previous two years and proof that I'm a USC. So, I'll also include more supporting documentation of the meeting (such as pictures, airline stubs, etc.).

Don't worry, they are not allowed to stamp your passport in Cuba - they give you a tourist visa that they stamp that is not attached and then they take it away when you leave.

The one and only time I've been to Cuba was when I was in the Navy. Even then, I was only in Cuba for about an hour and it was to Guantanamo Bay Naval Base.
