omg im so confused now ray-j told me having the ticket issued in the philippines i called delta 3 times talked to 3 differant people asking them about that they all assured me it would be ok to get it online but id have to go to delta office at atlanta airport to verify credit card and my id..... i have seen others say they bought theres online i assumed delta knows this and would have a system to run the purchase through the office in the philippines.

Go ahead and follow Delta's instructions about going to the airport with your ID. I'm sure it will be okay. However, I would have your mahal find the local Delta office to have her e-ticket re-issued at the Philippine office a few days before departure. We had to do that with Amy when she flew Korean Air. However, they seemed to be more strict in terms of following the rules in the Philippines. They won't even allow a person to look at flight schedules or purchase tickets from their website if they are in the Philippines. Other airlines, such as Continental and Delta, seem to have no problems with allowing purchases from the Philippines online.

thats what i found out,by Law ticket has to be issued in the Philippines! Ray I know you have to pay 1,650 or something like that for one fee and another 850+ for another???

It's 1,620 Php for the Immigration Exit Tax and another 750 Php for the Airport Use Tax.

reissued? I heard that rumor before but we didn't have any problem. I bought our tickets for ANA online thru vayama. I had to buy them separate because hers was a one way. Brought the printouts and they gave us our boarding passes.

I would have to say that you got lucky. Congrats on having her home with you.

tom i did buy it on delta.com website the agent asured me it ok to buy it there. my soon to be asawa has already told me she will not be bring much things so theres no worry bout over weight baggage she wants to leave from manila so she can spend a couple days with her younger sister and cousin that live in manila before she leaves to u.s.a .

She will have to have the ticket re-issued in the Philippines due to how the laws are there. KAL did this for free. I would have her check to see where her local ticketing office is in the Metro Manila area. Amy had to go to Makati to do this. However, everything went as planned for her travel. Also, she will need too bring about 3,000 pesos with her for the taxes that the airlines don't cover. If she has any plans of leaving anything behind, she can always have them shipped to her new home at a later date.

Wow...Yea Ray_J im thinking of having Mahal Ko travel here on KAL.She doesnt have to travel to Manila for connecting Flight just transfer in Seoul at Ichean.then on to LAX. My Plan is to go there between february -March for her interview. we havent gotten interview date yet. Also she wants to attend her BEST Friends wedding on March 28th. I told her time is of the essence now and she understand there is a remote posiblility she wont attend and shes fine with that. But for me going there? I have looked at all the Airline Websites and also contacted travel agents also and the best deal is KAL from LAX to Manila with transfer in Seoul South Korea, with a 14 hour layover in Seoul going there for 955.00 round trip. I dont want to stay that long in Seoul although Inchean is a fabulous Airlport but im leaning toward Philippine Airlines, direct Flight from LAX to Manila for 1,055.00!

14 hours?!?!? Wow!! I would look into the possibility of other schedules on KAL. Both times I've been over there have been on KAL with only 2 hour layovers at ICN (Seoul). The first trip was from LAX, also. If that's not an option, then the extra $100 on PAL sounds like the way to go.

So you got her ticket on PAL to Manila? What about the extra luggage fees, or what i mean is Overweight fees if any??? from Cebu to Manila??? Thanks for your reply! Did you get the Ticket from manila to Atl on their website??? or you said agent?

There are some advantages to paying a little more to fly Korean Air. I also looked at other airlines (Continental, for one) and KAL allows 2 checked bags where others may only allow 1. It all depends upon how much stuff your mahal has. Secondly, the taxes you pay won't cover the Philippine Emigration Departure tax or the Airport Use tax. Amy had to pay 1,620 pesos for her and 1,220 pesos for Serena in addition to the 750 peso Airport Use Tax before getting on the plane in Manila.

Im looking at KALs Website and I have called at least 3 Travel agents for Flights between February and April and I see and have gotten Quotes for offseason Flying for that time, the cheapest being 955.00...... Round trip to Manila during that time!

Yeah. I know I brought my ladies over during one of the busiest travel periods. Still, I paid just a little over 1,000 for Amy. Serena's ticket and the travel agent fees was what brought the total to what it came to. However, I consider it a small price to pay and worth every penny to have them here to ring in the new year with me.

If anyone would comment on this plz im getting my fiancee plane ticket frum philippines to u.s.a this weekend but im concerned what if they want to see the credit card that purchased the ticket has this been a problem for anyone?

I just brought my fiancee to the US from Manila. I went through a travel agent and had her fly Korean Air. There is a law that all airline tickets must be issued in the Philippines, but Korean Air will take an e-ticket and re-issue at their office in Makati for free. Just make sure this is done about 3 days prior to departure. You will spend a little more on 3rd party fees going through a travel agent, but it will be worth it. As for needing to see the credit card I used to purchase, all Korean Air was able to see in their system was that the ticket was purchased through a travel agent. The method of payment is between you and the agency.

Who's Sabrina? My daughter's name is Serena. Close, but no cigar. She's doing well. We're trying to get her adjusted to the time difference, but I don't think Amy quite has a handle on how to do that yet. She lets her sleep during the day and is surprised when she's up all night. Well even after New Year iam still stuck at NVC. After I was told last week that I was out of AP im still not out. I called today just to check if it was mailed to the embassy and was told it was "being reviewed" the first time I called. The second time I was told its in additional processing. its been 3 weeks since NVC received my case. Not sure how long I will be stuck at NVC. Today also marked 8 months since I originally filed. This is taking a lot longer than I expected. Anything and everything that could go wrong with my case had gone wrong in terms of waiting and being delayed either at USCIS and now NVC.

Have you thought about contacting your Senators and Congressmen?

I just wanted to let everyone know how much fun I'm having explaining our little "modern" conveniences that we, as USC's, take for granted here; such as, dryer sheets, gas clothes dryers, brewed coffee makers (she's used to Nescafe instant), multiple monitor PC's, crock pots, cordless phones with caller ID, etc. It's like watching a little kid in a candy store go nuts. :D I had to explain to her what that little beep in her ear was when she was using the phone. Then, I showed her the flash button on the phone and told her about call waiting.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134, Owe taxes to Fed / State
While I haven't had any dealings with any embassy (yet), I don't see how this could pose any problems. From what I've seen from some of the questions that others have posted about questions asked during interviews, tax info is never one of them. US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 while expecting a baby
We're expecting our first child in mid-October. With the speed that CSC has been showing lately, we're hopeful that she might be able to have her interview while I'm there for the birth; allowing me to be present for the interview (yes, I know this is a BIG if).

Would it be better to schedule the interview after the baby is born and try to get the CRBA and interview done (or at least started) on the same day? If so, I'd need to list the child on the I-134. Wouldn't I? How would listing a child on the I-134 that wasn't included on the I-129F affect the interview, other than raising the income requirment?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCurrent Income Verification

Those screenshots would work - you can include a statement about why they are that way.

Backed up by your IRS transcripts/bank records - you will be fine.

If it wasn't for the fact they're only worried about current income for poverty standards, I'd be worried. My past year's tax forms show me making way below what is required for a household of 3 (we're expecting our first child in October). I've only been with J.B. Hunt since August and don't have a full calendar year's worth of income to show. But, with my regular and per diem pay, I make enough to exceed the 125% guideline.

Hey, I work for JB Hunt also and thats exactly what I gave them for employment and income verification and I sent in just my tax transcripts and it was accepted.I also made sure my dispatcher/supervisor printed and signed his name and date to both sheets. My fiance went through the interview yesterday and her visa was granted. Feel free to contact me anytime for our experience.

Thanks, Q. You have mail.

My employer doesn't issue pay stubs or paper checks. Instead, all of my pay is directly deposited to my checking and savings account(s) and my "pay stub" is displayed on the company's website in a section that only payroll and myself have access to. However, the company does recognize the need for employment and income verification. They've set up a system where I can have an income and/or employment verification sent by mail, fax, or email. My question is this: in the format the income verification comes in, would this be an acceptable form of proof of current income, along with my IRS tax forms and W-2?

The U.S. Embassy Manila does not accept DS-160's from K-1erz.

Instead, you will be required to submit two DS-156's, one DS-156K, and two DS-157's.

Best wishes for a smooth and speedy visa journey! :star:

Yep. Called the embassy. I was advised that the DS-160 is not for Fiancée K visas and she should bring DS-156, DS-156K, & DS-157. We're only a month into the process and are waiting on our NOA2, still. I just wanted to clear up the confusing and conflicting information.

I found this on the USEM's website:
Effective May 24, 2010, all nonimmigrant visa applicants will be REQUIRED to complete and submit an online visa application form known as the DS-160 Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application. The DS-160 Nonimmigrant Visa Electronic Application will replace the current nonimmigrant visa paper application, Forms DS-156/157/158, and other related paper forms.

Yet, when I go to the State Dept.'s site, it says that K-1's should fill out the DS-156. Can anyone clear up the confusion? Thanks.

Since nobody either knew the answer or didn't want to reply, I'll post a portion of the reply I received from the embassy in Manila when I wrote to them asking my question. They said:

You can pay for the application on the day of the appointment. The cashier will accept credit card or cash payment in U.S. dollars or Philippine pesos, traveler’s checks and U.S. Postal Service Money Order for the exact amount only.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of Intent question
After having time to think over all the replies to this thread, I decided to take everyone's advice and keep it short and simple. I just affirmed our intent to marry and added when our planned wedding date is. US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of Intent question

If you both show up at the interview and she's either pregnant or holding a newborn baby then the first question they're going to ask to you is "Is it yours?". If you answer "yes" then they're going to tell you to file the CRBA. Whether you file the CRBA first or have the K1 interview first, they're probably going to issue a blue slip telling her to come back with the approved CRBA. The only time it won't be an issue is if you happen to get the CRBA approved before the K1 interview.

As to your other question, there would have been no need to list anything on the I-129F petition. The consulate will look at the dates and realize there was no child yet when the I-129F was filed. This situation is not at all unusual. They see it every day.

Jim,

Your answer does answer some concerns I had. I was going to ask about what if our interview date is near the end of the K1 window (as in a few days before the expiration date), but I'm sure they would easily be able to issue an extension at the interview due to the CRBA. Right? Since I'm planning on being present, would I even need the letter of intent at all or would they require this for their files anyway?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of Intent question

I, Raymond Jornd, do hereby state that I am still legally able and willing to marry Amy R. Antonio, and intend to do so within 90 days of her arrival into the US using the K-1 visa.

That's all you really need. The more you add, the more you open up yourself to questions. Keep it simple.

So, you don't think that there won't be any questions when we (yes, I said we. I'll be there with her for the interview.) show up to the interview with either a baby or a CRBA application?
Ray-JMalePhilippines2011-08-22 18:26:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of Intent question

The purpose of the updated letter of intent is to demonstrate to the consulate that you, the petitioner, still intend to marry your fiancee. It has nothing to do with whether you intend or have already begun to raise a family. CO's usually don't even ask for an updated letter of intent unless they perceive the relationship has been rocky. In that case they want some confirmation that the petitioner isn't planning to back out after the beneficiary arrives in the US.

The child will be a separate issue. You don't have to tell the consulate that you intend to file a CRBA. In all likelihood, they'll insist on it. They often won't issue the K1 visa until the CRBA has been approved. I've seen several cases here on VJ where the K1 was held up until the CRBA process was completed, included a couple of cases at the consulate in Manila. You should start the CRBA process as soon as the baby is born.

Thanks, Jim. That is some good insight. I wasn't aware of the embassy placing any hold on the visa process for CRBA. It's a good thing I filled out (as much as possible) and printed the CRBA forms and checklist last night. I guess my concern is with the fact that the I-129F listed no children and we show up at the interview listing our newborn daughter on the I-134. I don't want to look like we were hold back any information.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of Intent question

I would suggest you write what you wrote before. With regards to you wedding date, all you have to say is something such as, "we have scheduled our wedding for January 7, 2012." Leave out the sentence on the POE and leave out 'assuming Amy's visa is approved.' Just like before, her pregnancy does not need to be mentioned in this letter.

Okay, thanks for the input. However, perhaps the fact that her interview will most likely take place after our daughter is born would change your view on mentioning the pregnancy. No child was mentioned in the original petition since there weren't any born at that time. You do make sense on leaving out the POE info, though. What are your thoughts on the pregnancy issue now?
Ray-JMalePhilippines2011-08-22 02:03:00
US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of Intent question

Didn't you already submit a letter of intent to marry when you filed the I-129F? You don't need to write another one.

Yes, I did submit one when I filed. According to the guides on here, another one is needed for the embassy. In addition, the guides do say to make a duplicate copy of the petition packet for the interview.

A current updated Letter of Intent could not hurt! Many people prepare a new letter of intent just for the interview to reaffirm their intentions of marriage. Might even help since she is pregnant now!

She was pregnant when we filed. We found out a few days before Valentine's Day. Our filing date is in early April.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of Intent question
On the advice of Gary and others, I didn't mention the pregnancy at the petition filing stage. Now that we have our NOA2 and are preparing all the documentation for the interview, I'm wondering if this would work for my letter of intent to marry:

I, Raymond Jornd, do hereby state that I am still legally able and willing to marry Amy R. Antonio, and intend to do so within 90 days of her arrival into the US using the K-1 visa. Presuming Amy’s visa is approved, we expect an entry date of November 11, 2011. Our wedding date is set for January 7, 2012. At the time of the writing of this letter, Amy is currently pregnant with our first child. We are planning to have the birth take place in the Metro Manila area in Mid-October. We will submit papers for a CRBA as soon as all supporting documentation can be secured.

I look forward to any and all suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I was going crazy calling NVC everyday and I had given up when I had saw this on a post from another person and decided to give it a try. I went to www.dhl.com clicked Express then Tracking, then Track by Shipper's Reference, on this page you add your search info..You change the day and month to what you think your's might have left NVC

EXAMPLE:
* Shipper´s Reference : EXP 24 MAR 2011A
* Date range for shipment - From: 23 - 03 - 2011
* Date range for shipment - To: 26 - 03 - 2011
Account Number - Leave this blank
Shipment Destination: Egypt / You Choose your Country

The day I was trying this I saw a package had left for Egypt. I thought could that be our's? I called the NVC and I was told our package had gone out. The one I had saw was our's I was so happy. I just checked our's it's at the Sorting Center in Egypt now, it's moving fast :)
Someone with the example date I made up above for the country of Egypt has a package going to Egypt now as you will see if you try this.
The best of luck to everyone :)
