United KingdomInterview in 7 days and SO nervous! Help!

Its not an email but a letter from the embassy. Takes about 2-3 weeks after they receive your packet 3 and medical results. But you can call the deparment of state on 202-663-1225, tell them your LND case number and they'll tell you if/when the interview has been booked for. Good luck.

Is that my number just for London or can I call for Dublin also ???

United KingdomInternational Wire Money Transfer
Very interesting will look into this one
Thanks

I've used Western Union - not THAT much actually... :)

And as for the PayPal thing...here...you're talking to the PayPal "woman" now - clever thing to do is this:

Get one PayPal account set up as a business or premier acocunt (premier is fine). That means you can upload or transfer funds in the normal way, and also accept credit card payments. Now what you do NOT want to do when transferring internationally is send funds straight from one card, throguh a PayPal account, to another account - this would put a charge on the receiving account, because that would be receiving money from a credit card..so here's how to avoid that:

Create your original account. Verify it (see PayPal website). Make it premier if you like...

Create the receiving account. Verify it. DO NOT make it premier - no need. You can only accept payments directly from money uploaded into someone else's PayPal account this way - no charges to accept that, at all.

UPLOAD money from your card or bank account into the original PayPal account. Say $100. Hey presto, it appears a few days later. Then, transfer the uploaded funds available on your original acct across to acct # 2, no charges at all.

Download the money into the acct # 2 bank account, and that doesn't cost any money either.

Hey presto - LOW fees, if any :)

Email me if that makes NO sense whatsoever :D :D

United KingdomUK Debt in USA - Relaunched Topic
Is six years standard in europe/ Ireland ?? It's 7 here
I know we will leave some debt behind. But hope to retire back in a few years. Can anyone point me in the right direction to learn more about banking and credit in Europe.
Don't want any surprises if and when we return

Thanks

The property is no longer black listed as it used to be in the past - this would only happen if the person named on the title to the property stopped paying bills as a charge can then be placed on the property by the loan/credit company.

The family member still living at the property may still be harrassed though by the companies through letters, phone calls and home visits they would just need to advise them that you no longer live at the residence. Also your credit history in the UK would be badly damaged and if you intend on returning you may struggle for credit in the future. The future being the six years it takes for the debt to be wiped from your credit file.

United KingdomWhy did you decide to make the move to the USA and not the other way?
Comes down to $$$ . I would actual prefer to live there and will move if I could ever find decent paying work there. But for now the money is still in the USA

I got mine done online at a place called www.passpic.com . You need to take the picture yourself, then upload it to the website and they'll send it to you at the right size. Apparently, according to the website, they do check whether the picture is at the right standard to be accepted for applications. I've used them twice, with no problems either time. You just need to be sure to take the picture in a well lit place with a light background behind you.

Thanks

As a professional driver with millions of miles experience.
Both instructing and driving around the world.. I can only say. Amercains are the worse drivers in the world.. Mostly because of the Automatic transmission .. They do everything but drive.. Cell phone, lip stick , dinner and more
So if you plan on teaching make sure its a Manuel trans..
Then patience patience patience .. Talk softy yelling only makes them nervous

ThailandFighting RFE on Birth Certificate (DS-230) From Thailand

We got Rin's children's BCs from the local amphur (about 20 THB each). They are stamped near the top with a certification (they were then laminated at the amphur's office). We had them translated at a place near the embassy. The translation includes the certification stamp and says:
Certified True Copy, signed, Mr Phonchai China, Assistant Local Registar of Khlong San District. Then the bottom of the translated copy as a stamp stating "certified correct translation" with name, company, and phone number of the translation company.

We never had anything certified at the MFA (except paperwork prior to getting married in Bangkok).

Yeah, it should have a stamp and signature and then laminated from the amphur

Nice Kimo, I went to Rayong about this time last year. Did you go to Koh Samet?

I liked going and buying seafood when the boats come in to the dock and then taking it to one of the little shacks by the beach for a nice breakfast.

I usually do Kayak, expedia, orbitz, then rerun it through the airline directly. I've often found this a bit cheaper, and you're not charged rebooking fees sometimes.

I just checked my "Thaivisa.com" free calendar and I wish to wish everyone a happy
"Royal Armed Forces Day" - January 18.

We don't really celebrate Thai holidays here but we have been to the local wat for
a very nice shindig put on by the Thai Drs & Nurses association in this area. When
my wife, who is relatively new here met some Thai women who had been in the US
for 10 years or more, she had her "seems to have lost a lot of Thai culture, they behave
like Americans" radar on, even though they were all speaking Thai.

Americanization will be painless; after a while she won't notice it :bonk:

It's interesting eh? It's not just being in America that's changing thai culture, it seems to be changing itself. The culture of the youth in Bangkok to me seems no different than the kids here, which is probably a shock to their grandparents. My friends in BKK seem to know more about what's happening on american TV, music, etc than I do.

THanks for the website, that is great! I'll def use this again.

Yes, that was the case, and it was the Incheon to Dallas flight. Perhaps they've updated the plane? This was last year sometime when I flew. Another one that i've flown with the community screen is United to/from Narita. It's usually really affordable, but just community screens and the service is nothing compared to an asian airline.

Korean air was so great for my last trip to Thailand (just me and the baby) LOVE the experience and all the help. They are very very helpful!!!!!
But hate the 4 night in NY stuck in a hotel near JFK. JFK suck so bad.. I travelled with baby and noone even care to ask if I need help to lift my luggage and stroller on to the x-ray WHILE I have to hold my baby also. Yea it's my choice to fly alone with the baby and I can manage just fine on my own but not even a peep? well, sorry I compaired them to RDU, Thai and Korea airport.

Anya- I flew Korea Air last time, and they were fantastic. Hands down the best international line i've flown. However, make sure you get on their biggest newer jets, as the small ones don't have individual screens and you have to watch Koh-lee variety shows the whole way. They were even delayed leaving by 6 hours and made another connection to bkk in incheon so we didn't have to stay the night.

PS. Congrats on the new one, na rak mak mak!

I love domestic airlines in SE Asia, that is if they don't crash. In Indonesia I flew Sriwijaya and they had the old school paper tickets written out in pencil and flew an old school 737-200. The overhead compartments would fly open on landing and chickens and god knows what else would go flying all about.

A Thai friend of mine just got back from Chiang Mai. He went to the market there and when he went to buy some thing they asked if he was yellow shirt or red shirt. He said I am no shirt. They told him if he was yellow shirt the wouldn't sell to him. It's just getting stupid over there now.

I was in CM last week and I didn't see any of it. Granted we were kind of in the more touristy places.
