Good Luck, Anya!!! We want all the details when you get back!

Just spoke to my senator's office and they told me I might get scheduled for an oath on October 14! It's not a done deal but my case has at least been referred by someone at the Chicago office for that date! PRAY and keep your fingers crossed for me!!

My senator's office called today, asking if I'd be willing to take my oath in a town about an hour away. Fine with me, I said. lol They're going to contact me again as soon as they get a hold of Chicago's district office. Hopefully this means I'm getting somewhere.

Congrats N400-2011!!!

Well, since it's already Friday afternoon, I guess I can say that I'm not taking the Oath this month. Considering the long weekend, the Oath will be only a week away when USCIS gets back to work, and that's too late.
On to the 8 months mark, yay :bonk:

You and me both! I tried sending an e-request about my case but apparently I'm still within the processing time of my district office. Funny, since Chicago's processing time is 5 months and I'm going on 6.5. Another thing the USCIS is bad at; simple mathematics.

Received a phone call from my senator's office today. Apparently, they never received my first email asking for their help, detailing my concerns and a scanned copy of signed Privacy Authorization form. The representative got my phone number from a follow-up email I sent a week after the first one.
She was very apologetic and asked me to resend the first email with all my information so she could promptly contact the District Office in Chicago. On to some more waiting. I'm so excited!!!

Thanks, winterpassing! Hope you'll finally hear from them very soon. I know exactly how you feel. It was almost 2 mos for me from interview till this case status notification and it took a toll on me from getting too impatient. You see, now that I have been scheduled, it wouldn't matter if the ceremony would be on Christmas day. At least I know that I have a ceremony to go to. Not having a date to hold on to is such a pain. You know what I mean?

Yes, I sure do. lol I wish I would have just asked my IO to schedule me for a ceremony in Chicago instead of my home town. Bet that would have taken months (!) off of my waiting.

Great news, Mae! I'm so happy for you. I think I've broke the record for the longest wait between interview and oath letter among the February filers. 2 1/2 months and waiting. My senator is involved and when I called for follow-up today I was told I would hear back soon. Apparently it can take up to 30 days from when they receive your request for assistance. Congrats to everyone else who's moving forward!!

I'm still waiting too, Yong. Contacted my congressman Wednesday so hopefully I'll see some action on my case soon. The next available oath ceremony is August 19 and considering that's only 2 weeks away, I'll might have to wait til mid-September. I'm not counting on that, though...Knowing USCIS, i won't surprise me one bit if they lost my file.

It sucks, doesn't it? They have one in ours on the 18th of Aug and I don't think I will be part of it, then another on the 15th of Sept. I hope that would do it for me. Goodluck to us!

You might still be scheduled for August 18. They usually send out oath letters 2 weeks in advance. I myself am keeping my fingers crossed for August 19. :)

Called the mis-information line today to inquire about my oath letter which I haven't received yet. I was of course not given any helpful information, only that I shouldn't worry yet. The customer rep did make me nervous though when he casually mentioned that sometimes certain files get put under review and that could be a reason as to why I haven't gotten anything yet. However, if my case was under review, why would they put me in the oath scheduling queue in the first place? I take some solace in the fact that there's a ceremony on 8/19 that I might get scheduled for, so probably won't see the oath letter until the end of this month. Still, I sometimes worry that the letter got lost in the mail.

Congrats to all the graduates!

Still waiting for that dang oath letter. The next ceremony in my town is next Friday and since it's highly unlikely I've been scheduled for that one, I'll have to wait until August 19. Not a huge deal, I just want to be done.

I had my interview this morning. We got to the USCIS office bright and early. Checked in around 8:15am and got called around 8:35, so not a very long wait. The IO wasn't overly personable but polite enough. lol She started me off with the civics questions and then did the written/oral testing. After that she quickly went over my application and then told me to sign a form which had all the information that would be on my naturalization certificate. It was over and done with in less than 10 minutes. . After the interview was done, I was told to have a seat in the waiting room and wait til they gave me my oath letter. However, after a 15-minute wait or so, my IO called my name again and told me they'd actually mail me a letter since my ceremony will be held in my hometown, not Chicago. Yay! Saves me a trip. lol Chicago is a VERY busy office, there were a ton of people in the waiting area. So glad this step is over with and I'm looking forward to my oath ceremony when I will finally become a USC.

Thank you for responding. The consular official in charge stated when I went to Thailand in December of 2010 that they have had a problem with ladies from Thailand leaving their husbands, or prostitution.

My wife's character is beyond reproach. She is a hair dresser. She has her certificate from the Cosmotology school she went to. And has a beauty shop.

I have stayed the summer with her at her parents home. They are fantastic. She has taken two English classes. A wonderful woman.

It wasn't even her Internet account, but her friends who contacted me online. And I decided to obtain a Thailovelinks account.

Thank you for the background information. It is nice to know that it is not uncommon to go through Administrative Review. There needs to be a timeline on completion though.

I think you should really talk to your wife, especially previous relationships and/or association with unsavory characters or employment or jealous exes. Someone or something slight may have tipped off the embassy and made them suspicious. I only say this because the consular officer specifically stated ladies leaving their husbands, and that your marriage may not be considered valid was stated in your original post. Something doesn't add up.

As ning and others have said online dating is perfectly acceptable. This alone wouldn't cause any problem.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of Employment for I-134

I had a similar problem, but I explain to the HR dept., that this is the federal government and that I must abide by their rules. That this letter is not get a loan, but to show support for my family member. I also explained to them that all the letter needed to say was that I was a full-time employee, what position I held, when I began my employment, and what my salary was. And that I needed the letter on company letterhead. After explaining the situation (very nicely and somewhat begging) the HR group provided me the letter. I did have a back up plan.....I get along very well with my boss and he said if HR didn't provide it, that he would provide it for me. Kiss some butt if you gotta.

I will talk to HR tomorrow, and tell them my situation and see what happens. Unfortunately I have noone at the local office who will do it. I do have my W2's from 2006 and all my pay stub's to date. I will send the copy of my Employment Agreement too. Another bump in the VJ road.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionLetter of Employment for I-134
I was told by my company that they are not authorized to confirm employment in the form of a letter. My company gave me an 800 number for their corporate office that can be called for verification of employment. I have a copy of my Employment Agreement that shows who I work for, my title, start date and salary. I have their email saying they are not authorized to confirm employment and with the info where to call to verify. I do have my tax returns and tax transcrips for 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. I will also be sending copies of my pay stubs. I am hoping this will be enough proof and I won't need the letter.

I am asking here first to see if anyone has had this same experience with their employer, if so, what did you do?. My next step is to contact my consulate to see if what I have is acceptable.

Thanks and yes my paystubs do. I just hate that they are unwilling to give me what I need! lol

I estimated my annual salary by multiplying my hourly rate by 2000 hours. That will give them a rough estimate. They will look at your adjusted gross income on your 2006 tax return and your paystub will verify your hourly rate.

Contact the consulate. Ask them what documentation is sufficient for the I-134. Mine only needed my 2006 tax return and an employment letter. Although, my employer legally couldn't give me an employment letter. So, I sent my employment agreement, 3 months worth of paystubs, 2006 tax return, and 3 years prior tax transcripts. I sent more than they requested and they accepted it. Check with them to be sure.

BTW...Your paystubs should show your hourly wage.

If you look at #8 on the I-134 you will see where it asks you to list the person(s) that are dependent on you for support, wholly or partially. If you have no one dependent for your support the only other person would be your fiancee, who is included on this form. That is how they will know it is only 2 that you will be supporting. :) I hope this clears this up, and good luck on the rest of your journey.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresI-130 K3 Visa

Does anybody know if I have to add information in the I-130 package showing a bonafide marriage. I am sending a copy of my marriage certificate and they are asking for proof of a bonafide marriage ie.. (joint account, joint tenancy, etc..) I got married in morocco and the only thing that I can show is the marriage certificate. She can not go on any account until she comes here. I want to know has anybody dealt with this issue. Please help!!
Thanks

I had the same issue, in addition to the marriage certificate, I also sent two affidavits from my mom and my wifes father attesting to the marriage as both of them were present for the wedding. The details of that are in the form I-130. They just have to say who they are, how they know you and how they know about the marriage. I had mine scanned and emailed over. Hope this helps.

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLast in the slow line... boo :(

I can't say it any better than my wife has said it.

I try to stay positive - not just for me but for Rings, who I love and cherish and worry about, and who I want to be strong for. I don't always succeed. Many of these days I feel like I am only half a person, trying to fill my days with things that might mean something to anyone else but to me they are just ways to get through the time while my life sits on somebody's desk waiting to be processed.

I know I should be thankful that we are on our way. I should be thankful that I have such a wonderful wife and so much to look forward to. I should be thankful that I have been given the chance to love and to be loved. I should be thankful my story hasn't yet become like some I have read here, including those of some of you who have posted here in this thread. I should be happy that I still have hope, and that I may be home by Christmas if everything goes smoothly.

My heart breaks for any of you who have had to wait, who have been questioned or denied even though your love is real. I do understand why the process is difficult, and why the US government needs to determine that relationships and marriages are genuine. But while I know that they are just being careful, I desperately wish that they could just see us together, just look at the love in our eyes and know that we are doing this because we cannot live without our love. I wish that I could make them understand the hurt that we go through every day that we are forced to wait.

I wish...

I wish so many things, but most of all I just wish I could begin my life with the girl I want to grow old with.

To all of you who hurt, who have been made to wait, who have been questioned and refused and who have had to justify your love to some government employee...I hope your life after this awful wait is filled with happiness and fulfilment, enough to wash away the pain that leads to the beginning of something truly magical.

You guys (the poster and Loke) seem to have been touched on 5/17. Did you guys try calling the USCIS RFE number to check on your status. I remember last week; many people getting approvals on the phone even when the website wasnt updated. I hope your 5/17 touches on both petitions were approvals :) and they are already at NVC...

My I-130 was touched just once before approval... no touches for 3 whole months. My I-129F was touched last in april with the message changing to pending, then on May 17 I got emails for approval for both of them. All I can say there is no rhyme or reason to the touches. Hang in there, I feel you all.

I have a question for the forum. I am getting conflicting information from what my lawyer is telling me versus what the NVC representative is telling me. I received an email from CSC saying that my I-129F was sent to the NVC on the 23rd of May. From what I read on the FAQ and K3 guide in VJ, once the NVC receives the petition it is assigned a case number and then forwarded directly to the embassy. My lawyer is telling me that is not true. She said once the NVC assigns a case number, it is sent back to us with a packet that we have to complete (AOS) and send back to the NVC and then they forward to the embassy.

My situation has another twist. I have also filed for the I-130 and the NVC sent us the bar coded packet with the DS-230 and I-864 on 5/22 (we still havent received it).

My primary goal is to bring my wife here as quickly as possible since she is 5 months pregnant.

In my opinion, the K3 will be received in Venezuela before the I-130, but my lawyer thinks otherwise. If the information in the FAQ is correct that the NVC directly forward to the emabssy, the I-129 petition can be there as early as next week. Since we still havent received the I-130 packet yet, I am predicting it can take up to anotjer 4-6 weeks before the I-130 gets to Venezuela.

Can somebody help clarify? What would you guys do if you were in my situation?

What you have is the designation of agent form and then they will send you a bill for the fee. These things still need to be done before the I-130 is forwarded to the embassy, do not know how long but you are still looking at 3-4 months more or less. I-129F will make it to the embassy well before that. From what I have read here in the forum, is that, if you have a pending I-129F interview and the embassy receives the I-130, they will reschedule you for a later date and process the I-130. Going the I-130 route has its benefits, as she will get a green card soon after arriving and will be able to work. For the I-129F your wife will need do the Adjustment of Status (AOS) before she gets her green card. Lately USCIS has been holding the approved I-130 here and just forwarding the I-129F to the embassy, i am guesing in your case there must have been quite a gap between filing the I-130 and I-129F. Plus you need to figure out how far your embassy is scheduling both types of interviews, which will give you an idea on the time frame. Hope this helps. I am not a lawyer, these are just my opinions. I would go for the I-129F since its already on its way to the embassy, send in the Agent form, but hold off on paying the fee.
