US Embassy and Consulate Discussionupcoming interview
My fiance's interview date has finally been set for Sept 1 in Amman, Jordan. I thought the waiting was about to be over, then someone suggested something to me.
Could the embassy still put us in AP after the interview because we are processing a K1 visa?
I am new at all this and had no idea this could happen.
Please advise me!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionfilling out I 134
I am finishing my I 134 for my joint sponsor. (Yes I am running late... my fiance's interview is Sept 1). My JS is married and both have income, so do I need to include the spouse as a dependent where they ask for the list of dependents (question 8)? I don't want to make a mistake now!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionpictures and the interview
I hope this is a good place for this question. And I am a bit early in the planning to ask, well maybe not. We were just sent back for further processing at the interview stage on our fiance visa. So we are going to abandon it and get married in Jordan in about 3 weeks.
But there are issues.... his family doesn't really approve.
There will be no wedding, no pics with them, etc. We will marry at the court house and his friend will take pics for us. I don't know that I will see any of his family while I am there.
Could the embassy refuse a visa based on his family's non acceaptance of us? Have ther been any cases of this? Is this a valid reason for denial?
This is sacrey for us.

Jordan embassy is rather tough on the K1 (speaking from a bad personal experience).
I will keep you in my prayers and get those papers to them ASAP!
We ended up getting married and refiling ... thanks to the K1 interview my husband had!
GOOD LUCK!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview Question
OK. Think I will sleep better now.
I am climbing the walls waiting for the NOA 2 as it is. Hoping I will get it before I leave Wednesday, but time is running out. I will make my mom crazy calling her to see what is in the mailbox every day! LOL! At least she knows I will call every day!
I know I can check the email, but I will also be looking for the hard copies from NVC because I really don't want to lose a day! And honestly sometimes I feel confused about how much I can do online and what I have to actually mail to NVC! But my hard copies are ready to go!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionInterview Question
This whole DVD thing is disturbing to me. We only had 2 friends and a judge at our apartment when we got married.
Needless to say NO DVD!
Our marriage is still legal and we still love each other just the same... so what does all this mean?
I have about 1200 pics from 45 days of living over there and I fly out again next week for another 3 week stay (from which there will be another big stack of pics because we both enjoy taking them so much!). If I thought the big album would fit under the window, believe me, I would show up at our interview with EVERY picture we have ever taken! Guess I will just take the best ones!
Oh and I am copying a page from every online encounter we have had since we met... and that is at least one a day since Sept 2008. As well as the phone bills. There will be stacks of proof of this relationship! :)

I need all the information I can get regarding interview scheduling.

We had CC on May 11 and are still waiting. I contacted my congressman's office and NVC finally emailed the aide back and told her 166 cases are waiting and July is full.
From the dates on here, I know an April CC interviewed last week. I hope this means we are near the top of the list... but I am so down about all this.

Any idea how many interviews are held each month?
Any info is appreciated!

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion221 g
Zain, I am just wondering exactly what the 221g they gave you says.
We attempted a K1 last year and it was returned to USCIS for further processing because they didn't believe our relationship was real.
We married in Oct last year and did the CR1. This time I was at the interview with him. This 221g was worded differently... stating mandatory administrative processing.
Check and see what your paper says. If they sent it back to USCIS, this is a long process and it's usually faster to cancel the K1, get married and file CR1.
Mandatory AP is usually background checks and the procedure seems to be that they ask for the names and birthdates of your brothers and sisters.

Again... good luck!

Well, i just got back from an office, this office do look after ur case, and the guy said he can get it done in a faster time, and the background check is on both petitioner and beneficiary. As far as i know, i don't have a criminal record, and i am sure not a terrorist but who knows what the embassy gonna tell.. so do you think we should contact the senator??

Is this a lawyer or someone else?
My hubby is interested in going to this office, too!

My husband had his interviewew Aug 24. I was with him. He also got AP. And the interview they put us thru was pure HELL!
They told us maybe 4-6 weeks, maybe 5 months, maybe a year!
They take their sweet time with this I think!
My senator's office contacted the embassy and the embassy told them it should be done in less than 5 months.
I know one couple who had AP for 5 1/2 months, another had almost 2 months, and saw one here on VJ that finished in less than a month. (All these stats are for Jordan.)
Today makes 54 days for us. I pray it ends this month... but who knows!
Good luck!

Tranquillo:)
I just got a speeding ticket and it will cost me 400 dollars to get it off my record and go to stupid traffic school...anyways, I don't remember seeing anywhere on the forms a part where you need to disclose traffic tickets so I think it's ok!

What is not ok is the amount of the fine but I guess lesson learned!

T

I have to add something to this.
My husband got a speeding on New Year's Eve... just 2 weeks after his arrival. ($157)
He is still on his international driver's license and the officer didn't want to see his passport. So.... I don't know how the officer DIDN'T see his name, but.... he listed Moh's first and middle name as his city and country!
It looks like his name is Amman Jordan AlHosainy!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports25 year age difference....Older women marrying younger men
I REALLY need to join this club! I am 40... Mo is 26.

Can't say that my family and friends have been really hard on me about the age difference. My dad and 20-year-old son have a few problems with his nationality, but it is getting better now that we have gotten married.
And my 17-year-old daughter showed me the website where we met... LOL!

The visa journey has been hard. We first applied for a K1. He went to his interview alone in Sept... thinking it would be ok. We had stacks of proof of our relationship (though I had only visited once because I had a new job), we spent hours online and on the phone, and in the beginning I hired an attorney... so all the papers were in order and we had no problems getting thru uscis.

The CO looked at one pic and told him I was too old for him!
She even asked him what he PAID me to bring him to the US! It was humiliating for him.
She would not look at anything else he had and said he wanted to marry me only for a visa... along with making a few insulting remarks to my state of West Virginia. She sent our case back to uscis.

In October, I was in Jordan and we were married and applying for the CR1. We felt it was out only choice. We love each other. We wanted to be married and didn't want to wait to see what they would do with the K1.

I called Jordan "home" for almost 2 months and then returned to WV.
I am now visiting for about 3 weeks again... and waiting our NOA2.
I don't know what to expect at the CR1 interview, but I know I will be at my husband's side!

Philippinestrying to prepare
I am expecting to receive the NOA2 any day now. We have been in Vermont since 01-22-09 and had an update listed on 05-01-09.
Suddenly I feel very unprepared! What happens next? What forms should I have ready and where do these forms go from here? And are there any fees I need to pay now?
I hope I don't sound too dumb.
I know I need the I-134, so I have printed it and filled it out. I also know that my fiance needs all the originals we filed for the K1 for his interview, as well as our proof of our continued relationship. But other than these things, I feel completely lost!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Your first step is to contact your local representative and request that they talk to the consulate, and to try to convince them to look at your case again. Send letters of support of your relationship to them, and push like no other to keep it there. If this is not successful I suggest you read the thread that Jenn posted. This thread is filled with tons of advice on how to go forward with this. At one time however they were not canceling the I-129f's, but from what I understand they are now. If that is what happens I think the next logical step would be to fly there and get married. Have a big wedding and invite lots of family and friends. Take tons of pictures of you and him, as well as with family. Make sure to save proof of an ongoing relationship.

Just so you know many of us has had this happen. I know of one couple who split up, one that was denied on the second interview, but the rest of us has been approved. This is not a process for the weak. There was many times that my husband and I were ready to give up. He wanted me to move there, but I wouldn't. So we stuck it out and we won.

OK. So this is the plan we are working on. I am going to Jordan in about 4-5 weeks and we will marry. However there will not be a big wedding or anything because it is not what we want and his family is not behind this 100% and we are not of the same religion. So its just too hard. There still will not be ALOT of wedding pics, but we will get pics of us and with his family at other times.

In case you missed my previous post, it would be a very good idea for you to visit this thread: http://www.visajourn...?showtopic=3896

Returned petitions are a common occurrence in Middle East/North Africa countries and many there will be able to give you more specific guidance.

i think i missed one information i should have asked: when does your petition expire? but if the expiration for the petition is soon, then you will have to get a waiver for extension of the petition which will add up to the processing time.

i am not sure if the waiver had to be applied if you are going to ask for reconsideration. i'll get back to you on that.

after you get married, you can file for a spousal visa which is K3 instead of K1, which has the same 5month processing time.. here is the general guide for K3:

http://www.visajourn...p?showtopic=301

i would say though: RELAX. BREATHE. dont jump the gun by flying over to him and get married at once. it is case to case basis so do more research on what's the next best step to do. Jenn's post is very helpful but consider the timeframe as well. good luck and keep us posted. we are here for you! smile.gif

The expiration is a problem I think. It is Sept 22 and I have no idea how to extend it.

Good people,
I haven't seen the photo, and, frankly, I don't believe it matters much how pretty or how young the OP looks. Try to put yourselves in the shoes of the IO who had the file on his or her desk. A 25 year-old guy from a poor country meets a 40 year-old woman from a rich country . . . ONCE . . . then on the spot proposes to marry her?

If YOU, yes YOU, were a 25 year old guy, go out to a bar, meet a 40 year-old woman you really like (you can't really love someone after a meeting of a few hours), and immediately propose to her . . . don't you think that's a red flag the size of a circus tent? I do.

Let's play devil's advocate once more, and switch genders. An American gentleman travels to Asia and meets this mesmerizing, 20 year younger woman. Would he propose to her, right on the spot? Perhaps he would. But assume the girl says "yes" to him, right then and there, don't you think that an IO reviewing the case would assume the girl's reason for wanting to marry this older guy she has only met once is to get a ticket to the US of A? I do.

Of course, there are cases were true and lasting relationships between couples with huge age differences exist, but viewed through the eyes of an IO, they are the exceptions. And, of course there is such a thing as love at first sight, but viewed through the eyes of an IO, they are exceptions as well. Now combine age difference, plus having met only once, and you have a case as rare as a lottery win. I can't really blame the IO for his/her decision, even if it's not "fair" and hurts the OP.

My advise to the OP: show that you have a real relationship, by keeping it alive for a year or two, meeting a few times, sending each other "love letters" and so on. Do what couples who are in love and want to marry usually do. People usually don't marry someone they met only once without having a heck of a reason to do so.

Not totally playing devil's advocate but looking at it in a logical way. I agree. It's not just solely based on how you looked like in the picture. Maybe with just the way the IO phrased her reason why she is resending your case to NVC. It is easy to say and to prove to friends, acquaintance or anyone else in the family that you LOVE a person. But for someone getting an entry to another country, especially with the long long history of people doing an "arranged" marriage / mail-to-order spouses for the sake of the visa, you do need to prove an ongoing and legitimate relationship.

I am from the Philippines and girls my age who met an older man online has been denied not just because of the pictures (which shows age difference). Another thing is despite having IM's and emails and letters, it was viewed as marriage for the sake of the visa because not all couples communicate too well (I'd hate to admit: the girl usually do not speak English too well). In the eyes of the IO, how is the proposal legit when they can barely express their feelings to each other? I have a friend who was denied even if her fiance was right there with her during the interview, the guy's 10yrs older as well. It is not because they are discriminating people who do not speak English too well but because it is true, I'm sure YOU will agree, how will you get to know a person if you can barely understand what s/he says or what s/he thinks about you?

What they did was they got married here and worked on getting a spousal visa (K3) instead.

Ally and Moh, I am so sorry to read about this. I also agree on previous posts advising you to go get married instead or go be there with him when you are finally able to arrange a second interview (if you can.) Good luck! Just hang in there. Keep us posted.

So if I do go marry him at the end of the month... whats the next step???

I agree, hard to believe because so many people here say that pics are only secondary evidence and not important. So how come a pic suddenly can become so important if it is only secondary evidence. Did you tell the CO that?

Best wishes to you, and hope you can stop them before they return your packet. Call Mark Ellis like previously recommended.

I finally got home from work!
Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive. I have more information now.
Moh did get the 221g stating our relationship is a sham solely for a visa. And it is being sent to uscis for reconsideration. I am in shock!
WHAT DOWE NOW???
Does this woman realize how much time we have spent together? That during the winter, before I started a second job, there were days when we spent 14 hours together? We know each other. We love each other. Its hard to make a trip over there when I am working 2 jobs to save enough money to start a new life togther here. And he works 6 days a week trying to save too. We are not rich. We cannot just fly off to see each other every other weekend, but we talk every day and we text every hour almost. And I am sure she would be surprised by how many nights we have even slept with the computer headsets on just to feel close to each other (even with the crazy time difference). We have only been together a year, but we know this is real... very real. And we want to be together for the rest of our lives. And it isn't fair that one person should be able to stop that.
Should I head back to Jordan the end of this month to visit?
HELP!

OMG.... my fiance just had his interview in Jordan... things were going fine and suddenly when the CO saw our pics, she decided he was only marrying me for the visa because of our age difference! I am 15 years older, and i was not wearing my false plate in the picture, so he was only marrying me for the visa, according to her. She kept telling him "she has no teeth" He was so upset, he is not even sure if we are denied or what. What can we do? I am soooooo upset. I don't know what to do.
