Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMoving to the UK for husband's job

Well, to be fair, I am a know-it-all too.

haha harpa, as much as i have seen you giving advice on this forum, you have a right to call yourself that. if i'm not mistaken, you were one of the first ppl who gave me advice at the very beginning of my journey.

I have experience filing DCF. It is a good and economical option for the OP. You don't seem to have much knowledge in this area, but instead of listening to people who do, you're being rude and antagonistic.

why file DCF when there is clearly a different option.. talking about complicating things.

he/she, it's not the point. the point is that everyone was saying for HIM to give up his gc cause y'all are such know-it-alls. and as soon as a person who, obviously knows way more abt immigration than all of us put together, came up with the solution to his situation that, didn't involve abandoning his permanent residentship it's all "never mind, yes you can".

exactly what i was saying.. hear/say

Big deal! Immigration should not dictate his life. (You seem to have repeatedly missed the point that the OP is a he.) He's in a position of strength -- he can obtain an IR1 visa and have an unrestricted green card upon return. If the couple move again, they do it again.

You previously said that visiting often is time and money consuming. but filing for spousal visa every few years isn't?

OP is a he? did you read the first post? she said "husband got offered a job". nowhere does it say that the OP is a he.

What if she goes through all that trouble, gets a 10 yr card and then they have to move again. giving it up all over again?

So your answer is go to USCIS for help in determining what decision she needs to make?

USCIS does not offer legal advice.  That's what lawyers are for.

US military orders are completely a different beast.  They have separate and special rules for soldiers and their families stationed overseas.

I'm sure the uscis will be able to tell her exactly what she can and can not do. everything on this forum is a hear say kinda information. i would make an appointment and hear the right information from the horses mouth.

UK_FanFemaleRussia2014-06-11 15:34:00
Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMoving to the UK for husband's job

repeated 6 month visits out of the USA will reset her count on the 18 months continuous stay to apply for citizenship.

well she would just have to stay within the guidelines. also, somehow ppl that are married to their spouses who are stationed overseas do it. i know that it involves orders and stuff.

however. the best bet would be for her to make an info pass appt and get it over with.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMoving to the UK for husband's job

How would you suggest she suck it up and wait to get US citizenship?

How would she go about it when her USC husband will be in the UK for 2-3 years?

You do realize there is a physical presence requirement for US citizenship right?  How is she going to meet that if she is living outside the US (even with a Re-Entry Permit)?

Please explain how you would work this situation for her to suck it up for US citizenship without being separated from her husband who will be in the UK in order to meet the physical presence requirement of being in the US for citizenship.

First of all, I don't appreciate you replying to MY OPINION in a condescending manner. That's one. Two. By sucking it up, I meant for her to keep US as her primary place of residence until she gets her citizenship. She can always go and stay with her husband for up to 6 months.
Whatever OP ultimately decides to do, will not be decided by anybody on this forum. She simply came to see her options. What I suggested, is an option.

The thing that will hurt her if she gives up the GC, she will have to wait another 3 years to file for citizenship. What if he has to move abroad again... Give up the GC again? I would just suck it up and wait and get citizenship.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionfile N400 while I-751 is still pending

I have my 2 years GC since oct 2011. So looks like Im eligible to apply only in jan 2015?

Svetlana, looks, to me, like u will be eligible to file for naturalization in July of 2014... So next month.
August, the latest... Just depends on what day you received your GC

Of course you can assuming you meet all other N400 requirements (3 years of marriage, 3 years - 90 days of permanent residency).
Answer above is incorrect and makes zero sense.

I agree about the nonsense comment. So if it's time to file for citizenship and you still haven't received the 10 yr card, will they give you another extension letter?

UK_FanFemaleRussia2014-06-04 08:17:00

Will I be able to apply for a UK Visa with the extension letter?

that i don't know, but i would assume so. extension letter makes your expired (on paper) green card current. so if you could get a US visa with a green card, i don't see why you couldn't with an extension letter....

but then again.. you know what they say about people who "assume" lol

Vermont Service Center is just pathetic! I have a trip to London in December and with the way things are looking, I think my ticket is just going to go to waste *shaking my head*

use your extension letter to travel

That account is definitely atypical. I'm very happy for them, though! Sucks that the East coasters are experiencing such delays compared to us lucky Westerners. But I'm also sure it will happen for them as well, soon, and we'll all be looking to citizenship next.

Wondering how many ppl got their citizenship stuff going before 10 yr gc was approved

to make things worse, the processing times tab on here says that VSC is just now processing January 30th filers... woooow.. we'll be lucky to have our conditions lifted before its time to file N400

OH my God.. it's only 8:15 a.m right now, and I am not sure if I am wide awake yet.. but i just woke up and checked the status of my petition, boom.. this is what it said.. On July 14, 2014, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283....

is this for real??????

wow thats great news! seems like CSC is on point when it comes to early approvals.

looks like we are gonna be stuck in vermont for  while. i saw it where they still haven't approved anyone from April

Congrats!

FYI, at ROC stage, they never update "RFE" status on their website. RFE only comes by snail mail.

So... it's waste of your time to check status online at this time  ;)

so it's gonna go from "initiate review" or whatever to "decision"?

I think VSC is about 4 months from Biometrics, California much less at times but fluctuates. and I think they both fluctuate at times. But people are getting approved pretty much on a weekly basis. Right now January filers I think are getting approvals.

jeez.. if they are just now approving january filers, i'm not gonna even bother checking my status until like end of august ahaha

i keep looking to see if i had got an RFE, though...

Oh and don't get me wrong; I appreciate your positivity!

I'm mainly relieved to hear you sent it to the right place. *whew*

The people who answer the phones are astonishingly clueless. You'll get more accurate replies the thread you're starting.

talking abt clueless ppl.. the call center (or at least one of them) is located in barbourville, ky. called CSC. it's 30 miles away from where i live.

anyways, i know A LOT of ppl that work there and let me put it this way, not one of them have seen what a green card even looks like.

the girl i know, said that pretty much when you call the 1-800 number, they will read you all info you can look up yourself on the uscis website.

I'm looking at ur signature and it said he became a PR in sept. And they got it right before June... Are you sure you're not too early?

Seems like it's 94 days...

I wouldn't, because, depending on the bank, it can take up to 5 days for check to clear. And then show up
cashed in your bank account
