PhilippinesTragic Story of Thomas Hunt and Filipina Wife
Thanks for posting this stories. I was so touched reading Mr.Thomas Hunt Story. My condolences to his friends who supported him all the way. May perpetual light shine upon him(Thomas soul) and may he rest in peace.

For his wife, whatever her reason why she did it to her husband. May God forgive you of what you did and somehow she may have sense of guilt and penance. Justice will always prevail !

God bless us all!

Thomas Hunt of Yuma, Arizona has been left stranded in the Philippines by his wife, Janelaze. Mr. Hunt lies in a hospital near death while his wife lives with her boyfriend in Fairfax, VA.

Mr. Hunt brought his then fiancee, Janelaze Songcuya, here to the United States in December, 2005. They were married and resided in Yuma, Arizona. In May, 2008, Mr. Hunt and his wife planned a trip to the Cagayan de Oro, Philippines. Janelaze convinced Mr. Hunt to fly on ahead of her to the Philippines, saying she would join him later, after her green card extension arrived. After Mr. Hunt flew to the Philippines, his wife then moved to Virginia to live with her boyfriend.

Janelaze Hunt, never joined Mr. Hunt in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines, and Mr. Hunt has been unable to return home because he has no money. Then, this past January, Mr. Hunt became very ill and was admitted to the Hospital and is currently lying in very grave condition, lacking the much needed and proper medical care that he so desperately needs to survive and hopefully, recover. Philippine Hospitals require payment in advance for services and medications. Mr. Hunt is only receiving the few medications that his friends can manage to buy.

His Story: http://zinkhome.net/...nt/tomhunt.html

Wife betrayed not only her husband, her daughter and the USCIS as well by lying to them. Do you think everything was planned? This is unbelievable. Oh well karma is waiting around the corner.

PhilippinesGetting SSN before or after marriage?
QUOTE (adiiann @ Jun 17 2009, 07:27 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi!

Ask lang po ako kasi yong wedding ko sa August 8 pa.

Pero we're planning to get my checking account para meron na akong bank account kasi I can't have check cash kung wala akong bank account. We're thinking na baka needed yong SSN sa pag-open ng account.

What would be better, kuha na akong SSN ngayon or after na lang ng kasal namin. Then, saka na lang din ako open ng bank account.

Hi, I would suggests na kuha ko na agad ng SSN, because in my case I filed for SSN after marriage and also that time my visa was about to expire so the SSA did not honor my application they refuse to issue my SSN. Almost bank are not accepting individual/joint bank accounts if there is no SSN that`s their policy. ..You can get your SSN before u get married and have name change na lang , after marriage that`s better.

Best wishes and Good luck to your new life here in USA. God bless!

Hi, what kind of wedding do you prefer? If it`s Court Wedding, that`s easy as long as you already applied for your marriage license prior to your wedding date. About Wedding Traditions I don`t know much about the traditions here in USA, but one thing I heard from my husband before we had our Church Wedding. Fiance should not see the wedding dress of the bride to be prior to the ceremony because it brings bad luck to the marriage.

We got married in the Catholic church here in MI, we undergo several seminars such as Marriage is a Decision, Marriage Counselling and we also had our NFP(Natural Family Planning) that`s take place under our parish priest instruction. Then lastly, before the wedding ceremony we had our Rehearsal Dinner; that`s the so called Wedding Rehearsal in the Church, then after we gathered together had our dinner and a simple party. Other details in the wedding party, the slicing of cake which symbolizes the sweetness of the couple, toasting of wine and they also use garter here that should be put on the thigh of the bride, lastly the throwing of wedding bouquet almost the same in the philippines.

In our wedding we put a so called " wedding box" it`s one of the tradition here , guests are not giving boxes of gifts instead they are giving wedding card with their wishes and prayer with their little gifts inside probably in terms of check (gift check, or cash inside the card)to help the newly wed financially.

I hope this help you in your wedding plans. Congratulations and Best wishes to both of you. Godspeed!

(next time pls.post in English please so you can get more help)thanks! TC

PhilippinesDo the photos need dates on them?
Hi, put dates at the back of every photos, name the person and where it was taken. We did that during our petition and there is no problem.Good luck and God bless!

QUOTE (Kevin- @ Jul 7 2009, 05:33 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Do our photos need to have dates on them?

We took literally thousands of photos together while I was over in the Philippines. But I didn't turn on the date mode of the cameras for any of the pictures. The photo files all contain the exif data which has the dates, but it doesn't appear when the photos are printed. I could easily add date text to the corner of the photos, but that might be considered doctoring the photos and might be illegal or against some protocol or just unnecessary, etc.

Some of the photos do have a date in them, because the banner behind us at our engagement party had the date in huge letters. Of the 14 I already printed, one shows "..H 17, 2009", another shows "...RCH 17, 200...". One could deduce that it says "MARCH 17, 2009". I suppose I should print the ones which show the whole date? Then what about the other photos without dates? Maybe I can just write the date and time on the back of each photo?

By the way, searching this forum is quite frustrating. I'm sure somebody has asked a similar question before, but I tried a lot of search terms and phrases without any useful results.

This is for the I-129F filing. Other evidence copies will be hotel receipts, my ticketless boarding pass info from the flight to/from Manila, other actual PAL boarding passes from when we flew together between Cagayan de Oro and Manila, my passport visa stamps, paperwork of my visa extension in Cagayan, and even receipts from my stay in the local hospital in her city.

Thanks in advance!

PhilippinesQuestion about Baptismal certificate...
Hi, guys . I just wanna asks about Baptismal Certificate. I found out a year ago that my Baptismal Certificate has errors. My name was misspelled, it is not the same spelling written in my Birth certificate I got from NSO and from Local Civil Registry . I know that the Local Church where I was baptized was the one liable for its correction. What procedure do I have to make? Can I just bring my birth certificate to show the correct spelling of my name or do I need to show additional requirements to have it corrected?.....I`m just confused?

Second, I have authenticated birth certificate issued years ago. Can i still use the cert. as K1- Docs. soon. or do i need to get new one?

Thanks co- VJ for dropping by.. Hoping for your replies. God bless!

PhilippinesTIMELINE
QUOTE (LaneAndDaisy @ Jul 14 2009, 11:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
hi fellow Vjers...i would like to ask if its normal for the TIMELINE to change the date for adjudication? we got the NOA 1 hardcopy last June 22, 2009..the first timeline says it maybe adjudicated between October 6-10, 2009..then yesterday it moved to October 8-15 and then today it says October 13-20, 2009...

and another question is--- if it states there that the I129 F maybe adjudicated in 4 months, ,does it really happen in 4 months or can be earlier than that? is it really reliable?

pls. enlighten me on this matter...just curious and excited here...

thanks and muchas gracias!

daisy and lane

Hi, as I observed before when I am still processing my K-1 visa, the timeline that the Immigration will adjudicated for my application was exact. Even until now that I am on my AOS, it is still exact. I even received my EAD and AP, advance from my timeline. It is a good sort of timeline. Hope for the best that your`s will be adjudicated in advance.God bless and good luck!

we are just so excited and want everything done as early as possible yes.gif
thank you VJ Members.

Get SSN as soon as possible, don`t procastinate it. When I applied for the first time after marriage, they not issue me a number because my visa was about to expired that time...don`t apply SSN if your visa was about to expire...Apply soon!Good luck.

Philippinesjust venting out on a stupid civil surgeon
QUOTE (pasaway na angel @ Jul 20 2009, 12:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
i don't like telling bad things about other people but my situation now just pisses me off. my i-94 will be expiring soon so i need to submit my aos application as soon as possible. the problem is the stupid civil surgeon that i went to doesn't want to sign part 5 of form i-693 because she is insisting that i should have the whole physical exam done in her clinic. i should say re-done since being a k-1 beneficiary, i have my physical exam done in st. lukes's in manila.

i don't have health problems so i know i would pass any physical exam BUT that would mean a whole bunch of other expenses that i think is not necessary. aside from that, i thought civil surgeons should know what they are supposed to do and it looks like, this one doesn't know. i showed her the instruction from the USCIS website regarding i-693 and she still refuses.

now, i'm thinking, is there any way i could report her and the clinic because i think she is inefficient! mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif

Hi, I understand what you feel, Yesterday, I had my AOS Interview in USCIS DT, here is my experience about my interview. I went in the Civil surgeon here in our place 2 weeks ago but yesterday, the Lady Officer conducted our Interview didn`t bother getting my Sealed envelop containing my Vaccination Records. I actually presented it because I was thinking she just forgot it, she said it`s okay because I have my medical record in my AOS file, she asks me how much did I pay for my vaccine I said I pay 200$ , and she asked me where did I got the name of the doctor I told her I got it from Civil Surgeon locator in the USCIS Homepage. She said since we pay for it she will just look what`s the document inside, and she asked what`s the name of the doctor so I tell the name but the officer was really disgusted that some Civil Surgeon really take advantage from the applicant ,in terms of fees . They sometimes asks the applicant to re-do the medical even the medical for K-1 is not expired and sometimes some civil surgeon refused to give vaccines.

In my assessment yesterday they `re not strict in the sealed envelop containing our Vaccination records, they are just referring from the medical records we`ve done from St.Luke, as long as the medical is not expired it will be okay, even we paid 200$ at least I am protected from(HepA, and Meningoccal)the vaccines I got from the civil surgeon,is my advantage too, though it`s expensive.

You can file your AOS just don`t forget to include your DS3025(vaccination history), in replacement of I-693, so u won`t get any RFE in the future. I did that and we didn`t received any RFE.

Good luck and Godbless!

Hi, thanks for the link, I haven`t watch this news because we don`t have TFC. I just knew she was very -ill recently. I remember when I was studying my post grad.studies in Quezon city and during our culminating activity Pres. Cory Aquino was become our guest/speaker. I had a photos of her with my classmates and I was able to talk to her before. She was a very heart warming , soft spoken, and a religious poilitical leader. I admired her a lot for her courage and leadership.

May God bless her soul and may she rest in peace!

kicking.gif Hello everyone!

I just would like to ask how your wedding plans are while waiting for the K1 Visa.

Optimistic that the NOA2 will arrive this month and be able to leave the country in or before October, my fiancé and I are already lightly discussing our wedding ideas every now and then. I don’t want to wear the traditional white. Although I am a practicing Catholic, my fiancé has no religion but believes that there’s a Supreme Being. We have already chosen an ordained minister who says that we can freely choose any type of wedding. I want to wear a yellow sundress. California isn’t really cold in the last quarter each year anyway. A beach or a garden wedding will do. There are no definite plans but I am already excited.

Have you already prepared for your wedding to be celebrated in the Sweet Land of Liberty? Perhaps you want to present your thoughts somehow.

Hi, just want to share what we did during our wedding plans, like u before I flew here in US, my husband and I, plan our wedding online, we sit together and lists all details we needed for the wedding, we did this so we won`t have many things to do when I arrived that time here in US, just one thing don`t fix any date or make any reservations or any venues if you don`t have the exact date, it is all depend in ur visa.....It`s really exciting to plan ahead of time, and being united to our loveones is the biggest happiness we will ever experience.....BTW, modern wedding today, can wear mix color according to their motiff, some brides have their wedding dress with accent and usually its just knee length , you can do it too! I guess that`s nice and very appropriate if is is beach wedding....You can also browse some wedding site to help u plan ahead of time.....!

My previous post in my blogs about wedding preparation may help you. Just kindly click the link below. Thanks and Good luck!

I really don't have any idea.. I dont want to bring my TOR to America then later find out its useless, because i didn't have this done and that.. Any advice or information would be appreciated. Thanks smile.gif

Hi, the SO from your credential is okay, no need to have that red ribbon, authentication or so, our credentials from our respective schools are valid enough, because of the seal and SO from CHED. I am not working here for now but I did some inqueries on how to be employed here, our TOR should be evaluated here as per equivalent or grade point average here in USA.Agency will do an assessment from your TOR and will match it in the equivalent US Curriculumn. You can contact any registered education evaluators for the evaluation of your transcript like Educational Credential Evaluators(ECE).

Good afternoon to all!

I decided to post here because I know I would get the best answers to a number of questions I have from you, regarding my preparations for interview at the US Consulate in Manila. Thank you in advance for your responses rose.gif

I have already prepared the needed legal papers for identification purpose (NSO certified Birth Certificate, NSO certified Certificate of No Record of Marriage, NBI Clearance specific for travel abroad with a notation "no record on file"), my letter of intent to marry addressed to the US Consulate in Manila this time and Brian will be sending my copy of the I-129F he sent to CSCwith the NOA1, the NOA2 and the NVC letter along with it, his notarized I-134 and the attachments along with it and his letter of intent to marry addressed to the US Consulate in Manila. Naturally I also prepared the proof of an on-going relationship mainly through call logs that we communicate everyday.

Here are my questions:
1. Did I miss anything above?
2. I also accomplished all the DS Forms (156, 156K and 157) already, save for my signature and photos required, IS THIS OK? To prepare ahead? It said they are availed online so I did. I thought I would not wait till interview to do them to save time and keep nerves in check smile.gif

I would appreciate more suggestions on what I should bring to the Consulate. I honestly limited my documents to 3 clear books only. Putting all the legal forms together and the rest of the two are proofs of a bona fide relationship.

Again, thanks in advance! rose.gif Happy Sunday to all!

PhilippinesNon-Catholic to marry Catholic Filipina in US
QUOTE (lbounds @ Nov 2 2009, 05:42 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
So I'm a Christian and my bride to be is Catholic. She wants to be married in a Catholic chapel in the US which is perfectly fine with me.

I'd assumed that it would be easy to find a Cathlolic chapel in a nice city. I had the idea we would take a short trip to Colorado or some place nice, meet family there for the weekend and have our service in the Catholic chapel.

Now that I start looking for places I see it's not as easy as all that. The several Catholic chapels I looked at that do weddings both in Colorado and California have all kinds of requirements and restrictions. Not like a Christian wedding.

Some of them require you to be a member of the local parish or bring your own priest with you ! Some of them had other requirements like if I am a Christian to show a baptism certificate. I've been baptised at least 3 times in my life but don't know if I have a paper certificate. Some of them required a letter from your local priest. One Catholic chapel required attending a marriage seminar first. All of them I think required 6 months advanced notice, which isn't possible to know the date for me yet.

Well after everything else we go through I actually thought arranging a wedding in a Catholic chapel would be one of the easy parts.

I'd like to get married in a Catholic chapel some time after my wife to be gets here next year...

Anyone gone through this before and have any suggestions on making that part simpler for a Catholic wedding in the USA ?

Hi , I just wanna share our stories, my husband and I, married in the Catholic Parish here in our place in MI, my husband is not a Catholic, he is protestant/Christian. I didn`t give up my religion when he was still courting me, my husband knew that I am a devout Catholic, and I told him if u can`t marry me in the Catholic church, I guess we are not meant to be, that drives him to keep on looking different Catholic churches when he already filed for my petition.Even I told him to marry me in Catholic church, I did n`t insist him to be converted all I want is our wedding should take place in the Catholic Church. He can still go in his religion if he wants.

I remember we don`t have our NOA2 that time, he keep on calling Catholic churches here, but some of the Catholic church said that " they can`t marry us , he has to to be converted first in the Catholic faith, and he has to undergo 6 months of catechesis and be baptized after. That can`t be because we only have 90 days to get married. . He did`nt give up searching churches here and he finally found one , a catholic church here, just 10 mins away from our house, he did all the inquries and we were accepted in the church, the pastor was touch by my husband stories telling him that he is not Catholic but we want to get married in Catholic church because of me, he told the priest that I am still in the Phils that time, since then he often communicating with the priest . I was still in the Philippines he already send me Marriage Application to fill up from the Parish, and I included that in my interview in USEM.

When I arrived here, just a day after , we set appoitnment with the priest. We were told that details of our wedding. We undergo, Marriage is a Decision Seminar, Marriage Counselling, Natural Family Planning, and we have 3 Sundays for wedding announcement inside the mass, it is telling the public that he is free to marry me, making sure there is no objection but he was not forced to be converted in the Catholic Faith. During the wedding ceremony the Priest just told my husband during in the communion part in our wedding, he can`t give him the holy bread and wine because he is not a Catholic he will just cross his 2 arms infront of his chest , as reverence to the sacred hosts.

Since we get married in the Catholic church, my husband always go with me to Sunday mass in the church we married, he can`t still receive communion because he is not converted yet. But just last Sunday he undergo the RCIA CLASS , that is the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, I am so happy that finally he will be converting in Roman Catholic Faith and the Priest who marry us was overwhelming that I influenced him to be converted. I knew that God touched his heart to be Catholic , I am just instument, I am sure this wil be our guiding light to a successful married life....

You guys can do it too... Good luck !!!

my Jean is 4' 8". She is not short, her butt lives near the ground laughing.gif , The last time we went out the waitress asked, did you have the Childs Plate!!! whistling.gif

Hi, there! this thread is so interesting....... I can relate to your wife Jean,we have similar height, my hubby is 5 8` but I am still smaller for him....My Dad in-law is 6 2` and my mom in law is 4 11`, they are both Americans.....

I can relate with Jean, the first time I arrived here I was with my sister in-law , we ate in Chillis , as we enter, the waitress offered a menu book while for me she gave me a roled recipe paper with maze game at the back for kids....LOL......hahahhahah!!!! I never thought of that until we seated, when I am looking for menu book my sister in-law told me open ur roled paper u will find ur recipe there for kids....Oh well,,,, we just keep on laughing ....second time I enrolled in Bally`s Fitness Club , it was my first time there, so receptionist gathered my identification as new member, she ask my age, when I said I am 34 , she don`t believe me, and my hubby said , yes! she is 34 , I am her husband, receptionists said...Oh....u don`t look like 34...they said I am like high school student, like 16 yrs.old! ur so cute..!!! and they let me in, in Bally`s....!!!

When I am with my husband, his friends would always tell me, oh ur so small, ur so cutel....LOL! well I am not embarrased with them, being cute is a compliment...it`s an adjective " in the dictionary the meaning of cute is endearing, adorable, lovable, sweet, lovely, appealing, engaging, delightful, dear, darling, winning, winsome, attractive, pretty; informal cutesy, twee. My husband is very proud of everything I am doing for him, like keeping the house clean, cooking good meal for him, taking care of him . I always feel his love and appreciaton of being married to a Filipina...! and would always tell me... for him..." Filipinas are the best wives in the world"

So all cute Filipina woman, we are small but we captured the heart of our man because of our qualities.... Let us be more loving wives.....! Mabuhay tayong lahat! God bless!

PhilippinesROAMING SIM
Hi, I had my roaming sim here in US. I bring my old cell phone in my last travel from the Philippines last June. I activated my Smart roaming sim card an hour before we boarded . When I arrived here in U.S-MI last (June 18). I don`t know why it is not working. I don`t even got any signal from my phone, my roaming sim has 300 load last June. Now, I can`t even open it because it is already drained .I am quite nervous to use my charger here because it is my charger in the phil. and my husband said my charger can`t be use here. All my friends cell phone number was stored in that sim and can`t even open it so now I lost contact from them. I am quite frustrated about it.I don`t know maybe the model of my handset is not applicable for roaming sim. I am hoping I can still use that phone here and got my friends number in my sim but I guess can`t do it.

So, check also your phone and place here in U.S. if it is reachable by that roaming sim. I hope you can activate your roaming when you get here in U.S. Thanks and God bless!

PhilippinesKWENTO KWENTO TIME!!!!!!!!
I just wanna share that this Christmas is my happy , sad and memorable one ... Memorable? it`s because , this month of December 2009, brings a lot of sadness and happiness with me. This month where also the month we remember my dad`s death anniversary; and the first time I will no longer see my mom, and its the first time I totally loss my parents that I can call my own. I am still in the process of recovering from my mom`s loss, since my mom passed away last May. I missed the every Christmas and New Year we celebrate the season as family. It`s the year that my sister and I moved to 2 different countries. It`s the year that my sister and my brother in-law separated and will file for annulment soon because they`re not getting along well. It`s the Christmas, that my brother`s marriage is shaky and his problem makes my problem too .But in a long run, all this longingness, worries and sadness from my family were still a blessings it makes me more prayerful and rely in God`s providence and it makes me more family oriented . Somehow, this experienced makes me tough to face the rigors of life

After all I have gone through I still thanked God because He gave me a loving husband who`s always with me everytime I feel sad, and who`s always with me in my times of grief, who have been my guide, my clown everytime I feel sad, my partner , my bestfriend and my love. I loss one important person in my life but He prepared one person(my husband)who will take away my sorrows...In everything I still count all my blessings this Christmas...

Get a certification from your dermatologist if you can. I was asked about the marks some previous lesions had left and, well, the doc knew I was a doc, hence I probably knew what i was talking about.

Thank you resees16 and ryandgracey for the piece of advise.God bless!

PhilippinesWorrying about skin problems in future medical...
I will be preparing my medical soon. I am quite worried about my skin problems its started 2 months ago. I went to dermatologists before and Doctor said it`s nothing serious about it , this is from the change of weather, too much heat that cause rashes , and some unknown source ,might be from food or some stuff but its just common for dry season. and its not a fungus infection, she just gave me anti-itch , a Clobetasol and OILATUM SOAP for dry skin since this skin problem makes my skin so dry and flaky . It is quite okay now but still seen the scaly part. Would it be a problem? I am anxious about it now. Anybody here , underwent this problems and have done their medical, What did you do? would this be a problem during medical or may resolved to pending case? Thanks for any suggestions and advice ...God speed!!!

PhilippinesINTERVIEW DATE
QUOTE (RDDIXON @ Nov 18 2008, 09:08 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello my VJ's family...

My interview date is on November 25, anyone have the same interview date as me? I am preparing myself to go to Manila on November 23. My fiance will arrive on November 23 too. We will stay in Makati Palace Hotel, so if your hotel is near ours, we can meet before November 25. We are staying in Makati and taking early morning taxi to the Embassy on the 25th. Makati is a better place to stay in Manila - nicer shopping area, nicer places to relax outside.

Thanks...
GOD BE WITH US ALL THE TIME...
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF US...

Good luck to your interview. Relax and be confident during your interview. Most of all pray! God bless!
