I did n`t see the DS 157. You have to prepare 2 copies of DS 157-Validated from the Bank, 2 copies of DS 156 and 1 copy only of DS 156K, sign it and put the name of your petitioners that you`re going to marry.

PhilippinesKelan kayo nag-umpisang mag-pack ng inyong suitcase?
In my case I started packing when I bought my suitcase, it was 2 days after my visa approved. Until now, I am still packing ksi 2 address ko meron sa city at meron dito sa province which is my permanent residence. Now I am here in the province and started packing again for my 2nd luggage that I am going to bring when I left on the 5th of Feb. I hope I won`t forget something. How I wish I can bring all my stuff pero di pwede ksi mahal bayad sa excess, so what I did was I really chose my favorite things. I bought a bathroom weighing scale sa Japan Home to make sure di over sa required luggage allowance. Better purchase one than to pay excess baggage. Happy trip sa mga aalis ahead of me. God bless!

Philippinese-ticket (what is needed at airport?)
QUOTE (cieloazul @ Jan 23 2009, 06:25 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello, I read some older topics on VJ but wanted to check with recent travelers to see if anything had changed (higher tax, fees, etc.).

What docs are needed at the airport for an e-ticket? I purchased the tickets from expedia with credit card so does she need a copy of the card? Does she need to go by the airline, NWA, before the flight?

Also, I've read the travel tax is 1650 php and the airport fee is 750; is this still the same?

Are there porters available to help with bags?

This link has some good info but I'm not sure if it is current.

Hi, there! I will be leaving on Feb5 via Northwest airlines. My fiance bought my -eticket in direct ticketing in Northwest too I was just wondering if my travel tax and other fees are already there. He paid it through master card, Do I still need the copy of her card? and passport for identity ? What fees do I still have to pay?

That`s valid. I did the same BDO MCS Branch gave me expired form and during my interview it is okay . Just fill it up! Photo copy first the DS 157 back to back before filling it. SO you can have 2 valid DS 157. what they check is just the validation at the back !Good luck!

Philippineshow to prepare documents for interview?
QUOTE (mikeandjoana @ Feb 20 2009, 05:24 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I saw some threads here about how they organized their documents for the interview.

I just want to ask if it's ok to combine the packet that we sent to USCIS with the proofs that I will show to the embassy. Like the emails, chats, etc. Will the consul look at the original forms that we sent to USCIS or I should just print a new copy of our proof of relationship and do not touch the packet that we sent.

Because i only printed the recent emails, chats, etc. and planning to just put the proofs that we sent before. Is it ok?

Im starting to organize our documents and i want to make sure that i will have everything in hand. Thanks!

Hi, this is how I assemble my documents during my time. Just click my link to my blogs and read my interview preparation. It may help you somehow but you can do whatever is easy for you. Good luck to your interview and God bless!

PhilippinesHow many shots and Medical fees
QUOTE (ScottBadet @ Jan 27 2009, 05:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
My fiance was just wondering about the vaccination. She heard that there are 15 shots she and her daughter will have to take. I know I read on this site already the St Lukes medical visit, but I cannot find the tread. Can someone please refresh the Medical experience and how many shots they recieved. My fiance is kinda worried about her daughter. Also what are the fees now.

Hi, tell your fiance not to worry about vaccine. She will be given vaccine appropriate to her age and to her daughter but 100% sure not 15 shots, that`s too much! She will be having interview immunization , from there they will based the vaccines, what will be given to them. I have my 3 vaccine shots during my medical. About the fees, the medical fee is 213$ , and when she pay to the cashier it will be payable in Philippine peso depends on the foreign exchange of the day. Daily , the fees is different because of the dollar rate. During my time, I paid 10, 240.80 pesos , that`s the exchange as of Dec. 18, 2008, maybe today it would be lesser of maybe higher depends on the Forex. Good to their medical and God bless!

PhilippinesThe Cross: Symbol of Saving Love
Devotion to the suffering Jesus (Padre Jesus Nazareno) and the dead Jesus, taken down from the Cross(Santo Entierro) is very popular among us Filipinos. This can be seen in many different Lenten and Holy Week practices, especially those focusing on Good Friday. There are the stations of the Cross, the flagellantes, the Pasyon chanted throughout Holy Week, and the Senakulo dramatizations of Christ`s final week.Lent and Holy Week are also favorite times for Filipinos to make spiritual retreats and days of recollections.

The Suffering and dead of Jesus obviously strikes a very responsive chord in the heart of us Filipinos. We see in this Jesus one who can identify with us in our poverty, sufferings, and oppressions; one who can reach out to do us a forgiving and healing Savior in our weaknesses and failings.

But the very intensity of these devotions to the Suffering Christ unfortunately leads at a times exaggerations, and even superstitions. " We must have the courage to correct what leads to fanaticism or maintains people infantile in their faith' (PCP II 175; CF.12). These pious practices can give a very one -sided image of Christ which tends to enslave devotees rather than heal and liberate them.

In the face of that misleading views, it is all the more important for us to developed an accurate and ever-deepening personal understanding of the suffering and death of Jesus Christ.

_____________

" The Son of Man has come not to be served but to serve - to give his life in ransom for the many.( Mk.10:45)

I solemnly assure you, unless the grain of wheat falls to the earth and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat. But if it dies. it produces much fruit. (Jn.12:24).

The whole earthly life of Christ came to its climax in his suffering, death and resurrection.

In a secular sense, it was the means of the most painful and degrading death. But for us Christian, the Cross of Christ is the symbol of salvation. At baptism we are marked with the sign of the Cross. Throughout life we are blessed with this sign, and sign ourselves with in prayer.

The Cross is the symbol not only of Christ saving power, but also of our true selves. For it is the exemplar for all time of Jesus " Paradox" recorded in all four gospels: " Whoever would preserve his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and that of the gospel will save it."Mk. 8:35,Mk. 10:39;Lk.9:24,Jn.12:25.)........Source:Catechism for Filipino Catholics, chapter 11.)

_________________

Christ`s redemptive Death is, of course the ground for the center of Christian worship, the Eucharist, " this is the Lamb of God who took away the sins of the world.By dying he destroyed our death; and by rising he restored our life."

The Easter Proclamation even dares to proclaim:

Father, how wonderful you care for us!
How boundless your merciful love!
To ransom a slave you gave away your Son.
O happy fault, O necessary sin of Adam,
Which gained for us so great a Redeemer!

The Love of the Crucified Christ becomes the norm, the source, the means, and the final goal of all Christian Morality. Christ tell us: "If a man wishes to come after me he must deny his very self, take up his cross, and follow in my steps"(Mk.8:34). For this is my commandment : love one another as I have loved you".( Jn15:12)

REFLECTION:

Don`t just ignore this season of Lent. Let it be a time of growth and new life in the spirit.

PhilippinesPOE: Detroit Experience
QUOTE (SJ1819 @ Apr 16 2009, 10:29 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hello lovelies! I am finally with my hubby.. woot woot!

I had a wonderful experience at my port of entry, Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW).

When i landed to DTW i asked a lady where i will stand in line (there are visitors, immigrant/US citizens and crew lines) just to make sure i am on the right track. She told me on visitors line. I was the last in line and i saw 2 ladies (employees of DTW) talking and pointing at me and i heard one of them said, "OH MY GOD!". I tell you, i got so very nervous, i was thinking i will get detained without talking to the customs/immigration officer. Then one of them (employee) approached me and told me, "I know you little girl", this was the part where i got superfreakingduper nervous. Then she showed me a picture of me and my fiance. She told me to follow her and she got me in line of immigrant/US citizens. A big relief. Lol.

It was finally my turn. I handed my packet and passport to the immigration officer. He asked me to put my 4 fingers and then thumb to get scanned & took my picture. He did not interviewed me, isn't it wonderful? Hahaha. Then the immigration officer said, you should get married within 90 days. Then he tols me Welcome to United States and Congratulations. I wasn't interviewed cause my hubby works for DHS and works at DTW. Woot-woot!!! biggrin.gif Then i got my stuff and another employee asked me of the customs form, i gave it to him and he asked me if i have fresh fruits/veggies or any processed meat in my baggage, i said no. After I hot my baggage scanned 3 filipinas and a white lady (employees) said, HEY! HE'S HERE WAITING FOR YOU. I never knew they were talking to me, but they got my attention and i turned to them and they said it again and i saw my hubby... he was holding a new coat and dozen of red roses. I was like OMG!! My stuff was not scanned on the next line, instead he introduced me to all his buddies at work. Almost everybody in DTW knows me and they were very excited to meet me. Lol. The most awesome part was, my hubby's boss stayed 2 hours after his shift just to meet me. It was so nice of him. smile.gif Then i got to meet my in-laws and his sister's family, we had dinner and my mom-in-law bought groceries for me and my hubby.

So, that is my experience on my POE. Hehehe i know i should have posted this a few days ago.

Hello, welcome to Michigan, good for you ,you arrived DTW in early spring, when I arrived here last Feb.weather was so cold I`m almost freezing.BTW, enjoy the spring season here with your new family..Hope to meet you soon. God bless!

Best wishes and Congratulations!

Hello, we are using Vonage Internet Phone here in our home(MI) and even you`re not online in the internet you can use your phone anytime. I am always calling my family in the philippines 2x a week, it`s 18cents a minute to call in the Philippines. There are few instances that it`s hard to connet if maybe there is bad weather in the Philippines but its rare, so it`s okay. Locally within United States its unlimited call and its clear signal here. With that plan I can talk unlimitedly with my friends here in U.S. anytime. Hope it helps.. Have a great day and God bless!

I am going to buy my Fiance (coming with K-1) an airline ticket. I was thinking about Northwest. Does it have any requirements from her since I am buying the ticket? Any airline recommendations since I am buying the ticket?

Also, what kind of ####### will she have to put up with immigration? The custom officers gave me a hard time on my last trip. Is there any reason they could turn her away? I just want her to be prepared. Any tricky questions they might ask?

Many Thanks

Hi, my fiance ( husband now) bought me a ticket through Northwest Airline direct ticketing online when I flew here in US and he used his credit card. He just forwarded me the copy of Booking information/Itineraries and my E-ticket and I don`t have any problems in NAIA. All I did was I pay only the Terminal fee of 750 and my Travel Tax 1,620 that time and I just showed only my passport and visa, that`s all.

But that time my husband send me a copy of his credit card (showing the 4 digits number)in case they asks for me, but no hassle I didn`t used it though.

Hope it helps! God bless!

I can see why a lot of filipinos want to come to the usa. The wages here are very low. The prices of things are not always low in comparison. Rentals and houses to buy are cheap compared to the usa, but food prices, and other things are not really that cheap. It can be hard to even get a job. College degrees and etc, age discrimination is legal and allowed.
Its not like in the states where you can get some kind of job. Here you have to go through a lot just to land a very low paying job. Call center jobs are thought of as somewhat well paying and they start at about 12,000-15,000 pesos or
about 300 usd a month. That can work if you dont pay rent, but if you are paying rent, and so forth 500 a month is pretty basic living.

Dont get sick and not have the money to pay for your meds or hospitalization, you are in a world of hurt. They will turn
you away and you deal with it and in serious cases, you just die.

For most people in the Phils it is VERY HARD. People are highly motivated to come to the usa.

A lot of people live in extreme poverty in comparison to the usa.

If you are involved in the fiance/marriage process.. the smartest thing you can ever do is take time to UNDERSTAND

the culture and conditions from which you are bringing your fiance.

Proceed with the caution

It`s better to live in Philippines than here in United States where cultural diversities are so high.In the Philippines whatever happend love and respect are always there in the family. We keep our faith and family values and likewise we foster cammaraderie and friendship especially in times of calamities and trials. Filipino hospitality, being resilent and sensitivity are traits I will always be proud of as Filipino.

Philippines are rich natural resources that I miss so much !That`s why I am encouraging my husband to return in the Philippines and just live there and live a simple life there. If not out of love; I won`t stay here in U.S.

If God will bless us with kids. I would inculcate in their minds all Filipino Culture and traditions and will put in their minds ,how lucky we are as Filipinos!

There`s no place like home! Long live Philippines(MABUHAY! )

For his wife, whatever her reason why she did it to her husband. May God forgive you of what you did and somehow she may have sense of guilt and penance. Justice will always prevail !

Thomas Hunt of Yuma, Arizona has been left stranded in the Philippines by his wife, Janelaze. Mr. Hunt lies in a hospital near death while his wife lives with her boyfriend in Fairfax, VA.

Mr. Hunt brought his then fiancee, Janelaze Songcuya, here to the United States in December, 2005. They were married and resided in Yuma, Arizona. In May, 2008, Mr. Hunt and his wife planned a trip to the Cagayan de Oro, Philippines. Janelaze convinced Mr. Hunt to fly on ahead of her to the Philippines, saying she would join him later, after her green card extension arrived. After Mr. Hunt flew to the Philippines, his wife then moved to Virginia to live with her boyfriend.

Janelaze Hunt, never joined Mr. Hunt in Cagayan de Oro, Philippines, and Mr. Hunt has been unable to return home because he has no money. Then, this past January, Mr. Hunt became very ill and was admitted to the Hospital and is currently lying in very grave condition, lacking the much needed and proper medical care that he so desperately needs to survive and hopefully, recover. Philippine Hospitals require payment in advance for services and medications. Mr. Hunt is only receiving the few medications that his friends can manage to buy.

His Story: http://zinkhome.net/...nt/tomhunt.html

Wife betrayed not only her husband, her daughter and the USCIS as well by lying to them. Do you think everything was planned? This is unbelievable. Oh well karma is waiting around the corner.
