K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of having met

I have never seen so many lazy people together in one place. After all the work, documents, paperwork and other stuff. How hard can it be to put together 4 or 5 sentences without prying into your personal life. My question is if you really want your fiancée or fiancé here with you and you are without them around six months why not go the extra mile and attached a paper with 4 or 5 sentences. And I would not call this an extra mile but to be conservative in my sentence. I guess this make it easier for me and that is why all you guys get RFE’s. Wow, I hard can it be!

Peter Miami

I agree that is why I wrote a paragraph on an additional page. I just mentioned trips I took over there-to coincide with my boarding passes, passport stamps.

I'll tell them whatever they want to know- I should have told them I caught the bouquet at the wedding where I met him, what the bride/groom danced to. How many beers we had, what they served for dinner, what we were wearing.......................I could go on & on

i use the space provided too and just stated the where & when we met. of course, all the primary evidences were attached to the application. the question "describe the circumstances under which you met" is taken from the question of meeting within the last two years. if you answered yes, then the "circumstances" would be the when and where...not necessarily the how.

i see it this way...the less thing for them to read, the better. besides, if they really want a whole essay answer...they could at least be generous and give us more than just a line space...or maybe give us a TABLE to list...the how, when and where part...and maybe add a column on 'how did that make you feel"...i don't know. =/

just because we give them exactly what they asked for...it doesn't make us lazy.

mychelle,

I am not going to sit and argue this point all day but one or two questions. You said this;

“i see it this way...the less thing for them to read, the better. besides, if they really want a whole essay answer...they could at least be generous and give us more than just a line space...or maybe give us a TABLE to list...the how, when and where part...and maybe add a column on 'how did that make you feel".”

Now if they have lines for 4 children and you would have 6 you would just write 4 because there are 4 lines and if they wanted more they would have put more than 4 lines. This makes a lot of sense and not only with children it applies to jobs, names, address, schools, etc.

Hey cool I am not trying to chage your mind if your are like that fine. The more power to you.

Good luck,

Peter Miami

Hi Irishgirl,

A person with common sense, thank you very much. You think they where asking for a pint of blood, why it is so hard for people to write 4 or 5 sentence on a paper. For some reason people here on VJ hate to write a new “Letter of Intent’, when all they have to do is change the date printed and sign it. How hard can this letters be? But yet they can be all day surfing the internet, I do not get it. Maybe it is just me?

Peter Miami

Funny thing is I would give them a pint of blood if they asked ;)

I will give them whatever they want-I may complain about being away from my man-but I won't complain about the paperwork associated with getting him here-never

I am with you. I would give them a pint of blood and a pound of flesh if it would help me get her here and more if they would speed the process up.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresvisa arrived, but...

My suggestion would be to give them a ring and see what they think. Ease your minds of it and not to have a screw up at POE over such a silly little thing.

We had our envelope accidently slightly opened (oopps!) and rang them immediately. We sent ours back to the embassy and got it the next day looking as good as new in a brand spankin' new sealed envelope!

I would agree with “mzap” better to be safe than sorry.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDoes Fiancee Have to Fly from Country Where Visa Issued

When flying to the USA, does one's fiancee have to fly from the country where the K-1 visa was issued?

In my case, my fiancee is obtaining her K-1 visa through the US consulate in Hong Kong. But, she and I will be coming to the USA from the Philippines.

One thing that crossed my mind is has she taken the CFO class and will they let her leave the Philippines to come here if she hasn't.

Good question.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresConfused.. NOA2 recieved.. What EXACTLY now???
Hi jclx,

You could start by calling NVC about two weeks after your NOA2 and getting the case number from NVC. Make sure you speak with a customer service rep. because the automated system does not work for K-1’s. Ask them also when they are sending the package out and maybe you could track the package through www.dhl.com if your fiancée countries uses DHL. Like that you know when the package gets there and there are short-cuts you can use with some Embassy’s. Read my posts on “Foreign Embassy and Consulate General Discussion” section. I have instructions on short-cuts, tracking instructions and other helpful hits. These are for the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá, Colombia but they have help others with different countries.

For you, you need the individual tax returns for 3 years with the W-2’s ( I do not know if you need this for your fiancées country but a lot of countries required this). Bank statements are also use for some countries.

For your fiancée another letter of intent with a newer date. All the forms from packet 3; DS-156, DS-156K, DS-230 part 1, checklist, passport photos and many other things that you need to read up or get someone going through that country to help you out.

You also need proof of ongoing relationship; long distance telephone charges, e-mail’s, etc.

Good luck,

Peter Miami

Message Forwarded From Gidon1

[size=2]HELLO
I WISH SOMEONE WILL READ THIS WHO KNOWS ABOUT OUR PROBLEM.MY FIANCE LIVES IN LODZ, POLAND. SHE IS DIVORCED AND HAS ONE DAUGHTER. THE DIVORCE WAS UGLY, AND THE FATHER HAS NOT PAID CHILD SUPPORT, AND HAS NOT CALLED OR PARTICIPATE IN ANY RESPONSIBILITIES WITH HIS DAUGHTER OR HIS EX WIFE.

I HAVE PETITIONED FOR A FIANCE VISA NOW, AND I WORRY THAT MY FIANCE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OBTAIN THE VISA FOR HER DAUGHTER WITHOUT THE CONCENT OF THE FATHER.

HE IS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND, AND SHE DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO CONTACT HIM.

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT TO DO. PLEASE HELP !!!!!
IF YOU KNOW OF A POLISH LAWYER WHO CAN HELP PLEASE LET ME KNOW SOON...YOU WILL DO A GREAT DEED FOR ALL OF OUR FAMILY...

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE
GIDON REICHSTEIN [/B]

She should talk with an attorney in Poland about what to do to get a court order allowing her to remove the child, or if the divorce decree allows it...

Only the attorney will be able to sort this out for you... powodzenia

I agree!

In the U.S. Embassy in Bogotá, Colombia you can not do the Lab or the Doctor’s appointments without the letter so I think it might vary from country to country. You must have the letter in hand or they will turn you out. Trying calling the Doctor, Lab or Embassy to find out.

Good luck,

Not that I know, but they must show that they are returning to their country. But that person should be in there country towards the end of the process in order to receive mail, send documents and get prepared for interview. Maybe some here know more than I. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPublic Service Announcement

Though I agree with almost everything you say - I think that many people come across this site 'after' they have started the process (I and many of you found this before or at the same time as when we started the process.)
For those, who didn't; its a hell of a task to read through all the guides, example forms and pinned info and do searches for specific topics etc. - and many of these features are unknown to the new users - it took me a while to figure all this out also. For them its much quicker to just ask the one or two specific questions they have at that point in time; they do not know if this site is even worth their time or not; its only later that they will realize as we did, how helpful it really is - if at that time you help them by giving them the links to the guides or example forms or suggesting it - that's very valid and gentle thing to do. Or, be the brave one and give them the answer directly or by describing how you handled that question. I like reading some of the new posts asking the same questions - to see how people respond based on their experiences - it tells me that there are many ways to 'skin the Immigration cat'. Best wishes and Good Luck

Go to the sections “Service Centers” and also “Department of State” (NVC). There are a lot of post for security clearance and administrative processing. Some VJ members names are “Cohibakid”, “Irishgirl”( I belive, not sure) and others that I can not remember their names.

I sent in one copy of I-129f(well the original) and then made 2 copies of entire packet.

good luck :)

I did exactly as Irishgirl. Sent in the original I-129F and two copies; one for my fiancée (for the interview) and one for me. Dividing the petition into sections and separated by a sheet is a good idea, especially if you have an index or table of content. The better organized the package the easier for them to go through it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresTSC v. CSC

Since there has been no update on the USCIS website then you should assume that Texas is NOT processing K1 visas. I also think that there are a few people who sent their petitions to TSC after Feb 15th and still got transferred to CSC. So, I would just sit and wait to see what the USCIS page update says.

I agree with this statement!
