K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSupporting evidence
Hi loongphang,

I sent 30 pictures but I am an extremist, copy of all the pages in my passport, boarding pass/stubs, telephone and cellular bills (international telephone calls), internet calling, e-mails (hers and mine), wire transfers, money exchange receipts, hotel statements, credit cards statements, engagement ring receipt, and other stuff I can not even remember.

If you do not have boarding passes and other things like that, you can get them from your credit card bank if you paid by credit cards. If you flew through a big airline (American Airline, etc) you can get receipts from them.

Good luck,

Yes for a child you need a separate DS-230. The DS-2001 is download from the U.S. Embassy in San Salvador’s website, here is the link.

Hi mi illusion st,

In your timeline you have the wedding date as 9/7/2007, this is incorrect or you can not do a K-1. Like aussiewench stated do not set a wedding date because in your visa journey you do not know what is going to happen. Or are you considering doing a K-3 then you can have a set date. Good luck with your visa journey.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDidn't get my visa....YET!!!

Hello everyone. Thought I'd update you on my visa experience. I had my interview in Montreal on Valentines Day, the day of love, but that didn't matter to the consulate. I was TEMPORARILY denied for a couple reasons. So for those who are getting nervous about an upcoming interview, don't be, because if you're not in my shoes and won't experience what I'm about to tell you, everything should be 110% fine.

I showed up for my interview at 8am. Walked straight in. Went through security. Make sure you don't have a bottle opener on your key chain  . Waited in a room until the elevator was opened. Once I got into the elevator, the unthinkable happened. I notice a woman infornt of had a large yellow envelope in her hands and that's where it hit me. I was so nervous before leaving that I actually forgot my medical. I couldn't believe it! I We went to a large room upstairs and waited for the notorious window #14 to open. Once it did, I let a couple people go ahead of me. Once I decided to go up, I paid my $100 and was give the number 4. My fiancee and I waited about 15 minutes which seemed like an eternity. Finally my number was called for me to go to a back room which had several booths with a glass window separating me from the consular officer. Of course, the first thing she asked for was my medical. I just about dropped to my knees and and broke down. But I contained my self-control and proceeded. She asked for my affadavits (I had a co-sponsor and a sponsor). Then she asked for the DS-156 and DS-156k and I signed them. Then she told me to take a seat and that my number will be called again shortly. After another grueling 15 minutes my number was called. I went back to the same booth and the officer told me that the FBI did a background check and found some problems. She asked me if I had been arrested or convicted and of course I told her the truth. Before I went to the interview, I typed out a description of each incident that occured to me in the past. She was very appreciative that I did this. I'll tell you this, whatever helps them by making things more clear and easier to deal with makes the process much smoother. So she was very thankful that I wrote that up for her. Then she told me that I will NOT be receiving my visa today because ANOTHER check had to be done due to the fact that I had "MULTIPLE INFRACTIONS". I was taken to another room so they could take my fingerprints which cost me $85!!! Not cool!!! I was broke after that. Then they told me that the prints will be sent to the FBI and they will compare them to prints that I have taken in the past. They just want to make sure that I was the same person who had prints taken at the time of my incidents to the prints that were taken at the interview. Now, if the FBI approves, the all I have to do is send in my MEDICAL, PASSPOSRT (so they can staple the visa to it), and a LONG FORM OF MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE (I only had my short form, which is the card). The officer told me that technically it didn't matter that I forgot my medical. Still a downer though :crying: . That process could take another 2-3 weeks. If I'm NOT approved by the FBI because of the multiple infractions, I would have to apply for a waiver through the Department of Homeland Security, which could take up to 1-2 more months.

Other than that, the interview wasn't bad at all. For everyone out there that have a clean record, have all the correct papers and don't forget anything extremely important, there will be no problems at your interview.

Last thing, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LOOOOOOOOOOOONG FORM OR YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE! I was never informed that I needed this.

Thanks for reading and best of luck to everyone else on their 'Visa Journey'.

Miro & Jess

Funny... there is a page in the Packet 3 that is devoted to the Long Form BC and tells you where to get it and everyone on this board will tell you that the long form is required...

Also that must have been a big oversight on her part because we all talk about getting a long form birth certificate with parents name on it. It must apply if not to all counties at least to most.

I realise you weren't probably talking heavy-duty but still I would just use a clip.

Avoid using heavy-duty staples; instead use ACCO fasteners or heavy clips.

Lots of info here on preparing your package
http://uscis.gov/graphics/fieldoffices/scnational/

Acco fastener would be preferable but you can clip them. I think I read somewhere that they do not like papers staple because it makes it harder for them to take them apart.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMailing Address

I had replied to you in your other post but here goes again :)

On the I-129F where it asks for address this is where you would put your mailing address. This is entered into the system exact as it is on the form and this is where they will send any correspondence. On the G-325A you would list your residential address where it asks you to list all residences last 5 years, listing present address first.

Ok, so the "Readers Digest" version is that a K1'er can apply for an SSN in her maiden name whilst "in status"; having not expended the 90 day expiration?

True?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of having met

I did not append any extra sheets to my application.
I used the space provided on the form and wrote the following:

We met in <country, city> between <travel dates> and were together <days, weeks, months>. Please refer to supporting evidence attached.

Supporting evidence comprised of: passport exit/entry stamps; airline boarding passes; hotel reciepts; CC/ATM withdrawal reciepts.

I had no photos so hence I submitted none.

We filled in the question box on how we met but then got an RFE saying they wanted further evidence (one was a written letter explaining how we met). So I'd do that just incase.

Here is the point I have been trying to make and like “AFQuiad”, there have been others. My point is why take this chance when you could provided the information up front and not waist time by getting an RFE.

Thanks,

Peter Miami

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of having met

I think in "some" cases people simply can not fit an answer onto that one line. I know for myself, I wrote how we met & I did add a supplemental paragraph attatched, just to show travel dates for the both of us. I didn't write any kind of long drawn out "story" just the dates. At the time I submitted the petition, I thought that it would have helped the person looking at my case. They would have had my travel dates as well as boarding passes, copy of passport stamps, hotel receipts.

I guess it is a matter of preference-to each his own kinda thing

Same as me, I just wrote about six sentences but in the letter I stated that I whet to visit her 10 times in 3 years with a table of all the arrival and departure dates. But I do not think that ones need to go this far, just 4 or 5 sentences. I guess I am just #######.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresProof of having met

I have never seen so many lazy people together in one place. After all the work, documents, paperwork and other stuff. How hard can it be to put together 4 or 5 sentences without prying into your personal life. My question is if you really want your fiancée or fiancé here with you and you are without them around six months why not go the extra mile and attached a paper with 4 or 5 sentences. And I would not call this an extra mile but to be conservative in my sentence. I guess this make it easier for me and that is why all you guys get RFE’s. Wow, I hard can it be!

Peter Miami

I agree that is why I wrote a paragraph on an additional page. I just mentioned trips I took over there-to coincide with my boarding passes, passport stamps.

I'll tell them whatever they want to know- I should have told them I caught the bouquet at the wedding where I met him, what the bride/groom danced to. How many beers we had, what they served for dinner, what we were wearing.......................I could go on & on

i use the space provided too and just stated the where & when we met. of course, all the primary evidences were attached to the application. the question "describe the circumstances under which you met" is taken from the question of meeting within the last two years. if you answered yes, then the "circumstances" would be the when and where...not necessarily the how.

i see it this way...the less thing for them to read, the better. besides, if they really want a whole essay answer...they could at least be generous and give us more than just a line space...or maybe give us a TABLE to list...the how, when and where part...and maybe add a column on 'how did that make you feel"...i don't know. =/

just because we give them exactly what they asked for...it doesn't make us lazy.

mychelle,

I am not going to sit and argue this point all day but one or two questions. You said this;

“i see it this way...the less thing for them to read, the better. besides, if they really want a whole essay answer...they could at least be generous and give us more than just a line space...or maybe give us a TABLE to list...the how, when and where part...and maybe add a column on 'how did that make you feel".”

Now if they have lines for 4 children and you would have 6 you would just write 4 because there are 4 lines and if they wanted more they would have put more than 4 lines. This makes a lot of sense and not only with children it applies to jobs, names, address, schools, etc.

Hey cool I am not trying to chage your mind if your are like that fine. The more power to you.

Good luck,

Peter Miami
