K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurescertificate translate to english ?
Hi Jacquie,

I am glad you are fine. I will reply to the Private Message (PM) you sent me. But I need you to do me a favor so that I can help you, other VJ members need this information to help you also and it helps everyone including yourself for time frame references.

In top of the page on this website you will see “Immigration Timelines”, please go there and then find “Edit/Add my Entry” it is on the left side close to the top. Once you go there you input your e-mail address and you fill out information about yourself and your fiancé.

I will PM you in response to your e-mail and I will need some information about your situation. Good luck with your visa journey.

Regards,

Peter Miami

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurescertificate translate to english ?
Hi Jacquie,

Please fill in your timeline so that we could help you better. You do not need to get your birth certificated translated. None of your documents have to be translated now because the U.S. Embassy in Peru accepts documents in English and Spanish. The first time anybody is going to see your birth certificate it will be at the Embassy. Later on in the process when you get to the United States and do things like AOS, EAD, AP and the other things, you might need too but that is at least six or more months from now. Start educating yourself of the entire things that you need to do for your I-129F package. Start getting all the documents, paper work, pictures, passport photos and all the other stuff you need. Good luck with everything.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSad news, how do I cancel the petition??
Write letters to the U.S. Embassy in Manila, NVC, and your service center and give them a call. You want everything documented and done correctly in case you ever want to do this process with your current fiancée or a new fiancée.

Good luck,

Hi Jorge,

Congratulations!!!  I am very happy for Milena and you. You definitely deserve a couple of drinks.

Read the threads that I wrote about “Tracking Package from NVC” and the other threads for short-cuts, tips advice and other useful information. There are a bunch in the “Foreign Embassy and Consulate General Discussion” section. I move them up so they should be in the first or second page. Give me a call when ever you can.

Not in and of itself, no. But he's going to have to provide all of his divorce decrees when he files for you.

Think carefully about this... he's got a track record now.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 China I-129F Send in tomorrow

You can also see my thread on the variability of the visa process for China. Each step after NVC is quite variable. This makes it difficult to guess an interview date with much precision - it can easily vary by 1-2 months more or less from the average.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresVisa Journey represents what %

According to that source, there were 32,900 K1 entrants in 2005. Suppose that this is a reasonable guess of how many applications they have.

Looking at the Immigration Timelines, we have 1150 applications so far in 2006, which will probably mean about 1500 for the year. Thus we are about 5% of the applications.

When presidential polls are done of 100,000,000 voters (a guess), they poll about 1000-1500 people, and get results that are accurate within 3%. If our membership is typical of K1 applicants, then analysis of our applications is probably a pretty good picture of what's going on with all applicants.

Overall, Internet users may be more affluent and/or computer savy than others. But if you don't meet the poverty guidelines (directly or with help), then you probably won't start the process. Thus it would surprise me if VJ members are substantially different than the rest of the applicant pool.

Also some steps in the process are totally independent of income. For instance, a name check at NVC or shipment to a consulate are the same, no matter your income.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPhotos Question

Lucho,

That will be fine but it will always be good for you to take photos with your fiancée in known places in Colombia. Also take pictures with a Colombian newspaper that you can read the date with your fiancée and you.

Because the Consulate Officers in the U.S. Embassy in Bogota, Colombia love to see pictures.

Good luck,

Peter Miami

Thanks everyone for the reassurance!!!! You guys are the best. So helpful!! I'm glad I found this website before submitting my paperwork.

Peter, I wont be going back to Colombia until December...so I wont be able to take more pics with her in known places or with newspapers in the pics. However I do have some soccer game pics and pics in Cartagena, Colombia which is a tourist city. Hopefully that will help. Thanks again!

Lucho,

That will work! But unless you are very luck you will still not have an interview by December. Send some pictures now but you will need more for your interview in Bogota, Colombia. Also save all your tickets, credit card receipts, anything that shows everytime you travel to see your fiancee. Also save and print E-mail and letters from different time periods. They also like to see print out or log of all calls to your fiancee in Colombia.

Good idea to take pictures with her family make sure you are both in the picture.
