US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 help !!
Ok good good. Well the hr block tax return has two page summary and the rest look like w2's with lines and numbers with the title "joint filer" or something if that nature.

As far as what you said I think I'm golden then with only providing the w2 of last year then and my passport. Awesome!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 help !!
Oh and as far as the packet, this is what it says:

The beneficiary must have the Affidavit of Support (I-134) and the file income tax returns of the sponsor for the recent year, even if the sponsor does not meet the poverty guidelines. If the sponsor does not have or has not filed his/her incomes taxes, he/she will have to present a copy of the law excluding the sponsor from filing any taxes or a letter explaining why he/she has not filed the required tax returns.

If the sponsor does not meet the minimum required to support the immigrants and members of his household, he/she will need to obtain a second sponsor; the second sponsor will have to fill out an Affidavit of Support (I-134), include a copy of his/her U.S. passport, and income tax return of recent year.

Also a copy of my Passport alongside with it.

So as far as having bank statements, etc... I do not have to worry about it correct?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 help !!
THANK YOU for your help !!

Well, currently I'm still in Basic Officer Leadership School (BOLC) and I don't graduate until September 30th. So as far as having a "REAL" CO I don't since this is "TRADOC" (schooling). However, I can wait till I graduate and get on post though to get this done, since I'm sure my fiancee still has to get all her stuff situated in Nicaragua.

Secondly, I received a copy of my W2 via H&R BLOCK since I E-filed it. Will this E-File copy be enough (and is this considered the Transcript)? It basically has my "E-PIN" signature of the copy as well as the W2 with all my info (I have the W2's as well to back it up). Anything else I need or should i grab another Transcript straight from IRS as opposed to this copy from HR BLOCK?

Thank you !!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionI-134 help !!
Hello Visajourney !!

I posted this previously in the wrong forum (K-1) instead of here where my packet is at the moment. Basically my question is as follows:

I am currently a 2LT in the U.S Army. In school, I make around 5-6k a month, and once I graduate on 30 Sep 2010, I go off into my unit at FT. Campbell making a bit less (I don't receive as much for housing since my addresses will be different now). I would basically make around 48-55k a year, not counting how much more I would make next year during deployment.

For the I-134 it is asking me for my Filed income taxes of the Previous year, as opposed to what I've been reading where you needed the previous 3 years? Secondly, my income taxes show that I made less than what my poverty line is (I was a college student with a small job and wasn't making what I make now).

Should I have a co-sponsor (mother)? Should I bring any documents displaying my military status and pay (previous pay stubs from the Army)? Any other tips, hints that you can help with?

Thank you!

Yes, I understand OPSEC, but you can post in a general sense if you are deploying, just not the dates, and not the specificities of it. However, I appreciate your voice. :)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWell.. Here I GO !!
Well to anyone following us.. we got our appointment for the K-1 Visa in Nicaragua.. took us 2 months (I know fast!!) but the downfall of course being I am deploying to Afghanistan next year :( !!!

Anyways, the consulate was very professional and always there to help me via email. I simply told them we were ready for our appointment and same day they sent me the date (September 27th), only 6 days since packet 4 to which they also sent to us via email both in Spanish and English! Great JOB!

I'm a bit nervous I'm not going to lie, I can shoot M16's M4's throw grenades get shot back (training purposes) and not even flinch, but throw this at me and im shakin' jajaja.. oh man I hope we do well!!!

For evidence, I have 36 photos of us, several Moneygram (money orders to pay for paperwork and medical) receipts, letters (copied), Leave Forms (Showing the Army allowing me to leave to visit her for memorial day and this weekend), airplane itineraries (just a couple), receipts from my trips (just a couple as well), international calling card receipts (PINGO.COM)...

Also for documents, I have my I-134 and the H&R E-File transcript (the 1040EZ), as well as the W2's and 1099G (unemployment tax form). Since in 2009 (my previous tax year) I did NOT make enough (about $8,000) I also grabbed my mother just in case to be a co-sponsor if they ask, however since I make approximately $50,000 a year due to being a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S Army, the consulate told me to bring 3 months of previous pay stubs (LES for you army folks) and that should be okay, but I am NOT taking any chances and bringing my mothers I-134 as the co-sponsor.

So, I hope I'm covered her on my side, my fiancee has all her paperwork ready to go as well. Someone give me some OKAYS ! and RELIEF because I'm literally going a bit crazy here thinking perhaps I've missed something or I need to add something as well...

Thank you for reading !! God Bless! WISH US LUCK !!!!!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCo-sponsor income requirements...???
Hey guys,

Quick question. I'm relying on a co-sponsor for the I134...I am aware the co-sponsor has to make at least 125% of the poverty guidelines (around 17 or 18k), but does the co-sponsor have to make double that income since he is signing saying he will support my fiance if need be? Or just a little over the required amount...

Please help!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-230 (K-1) Help!!!
My fiance also had a ton of trips to the US to write down, so he attached another sheet. He put the actual dates, just because he happened to save all the ticket stubs from the visits... However, I am aware that they say "MM-YYYY" and if you want to you can just print the form out and hand-write the trips out, if the form isn't letting you type in only the months and years. Our form was printed out and hand-written on... so I'm hoping that should be fine.

Good luck!

The thing is, the form DS-156 said to sign it, that's why my fiance did. The only form we got that said to NOT sign was the DS-156K, which he did NOT sign. That's why I'm so confused. Isn't that weird, that the checklist said to NOT sign a form that the actual form tells you TO sign??

I posted this in a different forum area, but I need advice because I am very scared, and me and my fiance are freaking out.

We sent back the form DS-156 SIGNED with packet 3 to embassy. As I re-read the checklist we made a copy of, I noticed it said to NOT sign DS-156, and to send in a duplicate. (It is ridiculous, because on their website, instructions say TO sign DS-156...????) As we did not follow the checklist directions, I am scared to death. Can they deny us, or will we be able to just do it over and send it in again...

Please reply with any help. Thank you...

Is number 10 asking if I have PREVIOUSLY submitted a petition to USCIS for someone, and I answer "none", or am I supposed to put down my fiance???

It's worded:
10. I have submitted a visa petition to USCIS on behalf of the following person(s). If none, state "none".

(The question before, #9, asks if I've previously submitted affadavits of support for anyone before, so I assumed #10 meant the same as well...?)

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionWhich address to mail packet 3 to (london)???
My fiance sent packet 3 back to the US embassy already... but I read something that really confused me. The mailing address on the embassy's website is 24 Grosvenor Square, London W1A 1AE (which is the one he used to mail packet to). BUT on the checklist, the address on the top of the page was Visa Branch 5 Upper Grosvenor Street, London W1A 2JB. (He didn't write VISA BRANCH on the envelope, either). I'm scared now that our packet won't get to where it's supposed to go. Am I worrying for no reason?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionQuestion About Packet 3/DS-156k
Hey!

I totally feel your pain... My fiance just sent packet 3 back with the required forms and checklist a week ago, and it was VERY confusing. First of all, the form you have to do online electronically (DS156) says on the form AND on the website TO sign...which my fiance did... and then after sending it to consulate we realized checklist said to NOT sign it and do it in duplicate, so he had to redo the form and send it in again unsigned. At first glance of the checklist, you think the DO NOT SIGN THIS FORM is referring to the DS156K, which clearly says on the form to NOT sign. If that's the one you say is asking to attach all of the stuff (affadavit, birth cert., etc.) to it, I wouldn't worry about it... because obviously that form will need to be signed AT the consulate at interview, and I'm sure the consulate officer will attach the information you bring to the embassy when you go for interview at that time.

I wish they would make that checklist a little more cohesive with what the forms say!!!

Hope I helped.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAbout co-sponsor... urgent!
Hello to everyone!

We finally got our interview date (yay!): April 15th. Was just wondering, I'm about to send my fiance everything he needs from me for the interview. We are using a co-sponsor, and I was wondering...does he need our CO-SPONSOR's birth certificate/proof of citizenship, as well as mine, for interview??? I know he needs mine because I'm the petitioner, but my co-sponsor is having trouble finding his and if it's not necessary I don't want to make our co-sponsor go to the place he was born to get an official copy. Please let me know ASAP!

Thank you for everyone's help so far!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionDS-156K - DUPLICATE?
I did two copies of the form done online (the one that generates a barcode), and only one of the one-page one that says "do not write below this line".

Be careful... don't sign either!!! We made that mistake, and had to re-send in barcoded form in duplicate, unsigned. On the checklist it says to NOT sign the electronic barcoded form, but on the actual form it says NOTHING about not signing it.

So annoying!!!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionAffadavit I134 Confusion...
I have 2 questions for y'all:

1. Is it okay to put on employer letter: "______ makes ______ an hour and works ______ hours a week" instead of stating an annual salary? (Neither me nor my co-sponsor makes an "annual salary", we both work hourly.)

2. I've read in multiple places about this "sworn statement under the social security act" that you can submit along WITH the actual I134 affadavit... Is this really needed? And is it a free-form statement just saying you will support immigrant and understand your responsibility to US gov't. and social security act ...?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Generate I 864 and Visa Application?

yeah thats what it seemed like but what about the barcodes I keep reading about?

You are going to find the barcode in the cover sheet, you only need to print out the cover sheet from the payment site whenever the status shows paid and the barcode is going to be at the bottom of the cover sheet, thats why you have to put the cover sheet as the first sheet of your whole package.
You get one cover sheet (barcode) for the I864 and another one for the DS230
FabyFemaleEcuador2010-08-12 17:58:00
National Visa Center (Dept of State)Generate I 864 and Visa Application?
It means that in 2-3 business days, your receipt should show as "paid" instead of "in process" and whenever you see the paid status then you can print the "cover sheet" that you need to attach to the whole package that you are going to mail with the I864. It will also give you a link and instructions on what to do next, which is pretty much fill out the paperwork for the affidavit of support. So you dont really need to wait for the instructions.. you can start preparing that right now while you wait for the "cover sheet" to generate so you can print it out and mail it with the forms.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)SIF & Case Complete!! =)

(I just wrote a long response that the machine ate, si man.)

If CR-1 is like K-1, you can e-mail the Immigrant Visa unit at the Guayaquil consulate to learn whether they've received it. Then, without waiting, download Packet 4 from their website. (The consulate will mail the packet so that it arrives weeks late, & it will include outdated information about physicians & other matters.)

For an interview day/time, you'll have to call the $12 PIN line, which is staffed by evil chicas who almost certainly earn commissions for how many times they can get you to call back. If you perceive that this is happening, cut them short, take names, & insist on speaking with a supervisor.

1. If you haven't, you must read the Embassy Info, Embassy Reviews, & the entire thread "US Consulate in Guayaquil, Ecuador" (Consulate/Embassy forum), paying attention to the WORST of the stories.

2. It's mandatory for husband & wife to attend the interview.

3. Be in Guayaquil at least a full day ahead of the "set" interview day. The consulate is known for phoning the beneficiary on an hour's notice to reschedule appointments for earlier, "or else."

Thank you for your help :)

As far as i know, the k1 is a bit different than the CR1. We have to wait for the NVC to schedule an interview for us. we dont need to call with the $12 pin. We just need to wait for the NVC to email us letting us know the interview date. The only way we need to call $12 pin line is if i need to re-schedule.

and we dont have a packet 4, we do something different.. i believe, but im not really sure about that part but if you go to the website http://guayaquil.usc..._interview.html there are two links there, one with the packet 4 and the other one for us (CR1) which are scheduled by the NVC. (I dont know if all this information is right but thats what i understood from reading different things)

I read your story and there's no way im going to leave my husband alone in the interview! I'm definitely going with him. I've been traveling every 2 months to see him (in matter of fact.. Im going to Ecuador tomorrow to spend the long weekend with him  )
I just hope to have an interview next month if its possible!

And by the way I've always wanted to thank you for everything you share with us. You have helped me a lot in the whole process without you even knowing it :D

Congrats on case complete! Unfortunately, yes, you wait. NVC lies! They schedule interviews through out the whole month not just the second week like we are all told. They have already started scheduling for the month of October. If you look at some of the statuses you will see this. Call NVC back on Friday to see if they have you scheduled yet. Then if not call again next week. No one knows how long it will take for any of us to get interviews. Some wait a day or two, others, may take weeks, or months. Go look at your country's portal and go by the dates on there. I looked and by the dates given on there, it looks like you should have October interview, but again, it all depends on the capacity of the Embassy. I wish you luck.

Thanks a lot for all the information ;)

Does anyone know what am i supposed to do next? Do i just wait for an interview? Does he go get his medical exam done or wait for the interview letter first?

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionUS Consulate in Guayaquil, Ecuador

Hello!

I am still waiting for approval for my I-129F here in California but I do have some questions about the consulate process.
I know my fiance is supposed to get the medical done before we schedule an appointment at the consulate but I want to know how long is it good before it expires? Should he wait for us to get the NOA2 before he gets the medical done? I'm hoping to make the appointment scheduling happen as quickly as possible because I have only limited times that I can go down to visit him. I also saw that some people got their appointments scheduled much faster (and cheaper) via email than with the $12 pin line. I would like for the appointment to happen before my semester starts in January so I don't miss any classes. (NOA1 date 7/16 so it might happen), and I'm hoping I can email them and schedule it during that time.
Is it true that I should not contact them until after my petition has been sent from the NVC? They won't know who I am or have anything to tell me if I do, correct?
Also, I'm wondering about contacting my congress person. It is somewhat dangerous for my fiance where he is right now and I don't have any way to help him. I just want him to come here and be safe and I don't know how to get our packet expedited or if we could even qualify... I went to Ecuador last week to visit him and it was so difficult to walk into the Airport to come home. What can I do?
Thanks for your help :-)
Malia

Like Indy90 said, I suggest that you or your fiance calls one of the 2 doctors offices and ask them about the medial exam just to be sure.
And I really doubt that they are going to expedite your case because your finace is in a very dangerous place, I was robbed in Ecuador once at gun point. It seems like thats a "normal" thing to happen in Ecuador so they are not going to make a big deal about it  About your classes, they dont really care, trust me I missed a mid-term exam because i needed to go to our interview. It was easier to talk to my professor about it than to try to contact the Consulate and re-schedule.
Oh and I did contact the Consulate via e-mail before my case was even over there and they did helped me with all my general questions. :)

Africa: Sub-SaharanK1 Interview while listed on Lagos' Marriage Registry
I think your fiance will be setting himself up for a mind blowing denial if he ever uses the "I wanted to cover all basis just in case my K1 VISA gets denied" line with a Consular Officer in Lagos. I do not also think it is wise move to register your name in a marriage registry while your K-1 interview is coming up. I would advice that you keep an open mind and pray for the best.

Good luck to you.
