K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports.... The Package has been sent ! ...
Thank you everyone for your kind words :) Yes I was wondering about the NVC thing jajaja sorry about that I will update that.

I just found out today though from my ex that ft. campbell is deploying end of this year :( !! I hope her visa gets approved and I will definitely call that number to try and expedite the K-1. This sucks! She finally has a chance to be with me soon and now I might get deployed already, just my like :(

Edit: Sorry you guys dont know my situation: I'm currently in BOLC (Basic officer leadership course) for logistics as a 2LT, and I will be going straight to Ft. Campbell on October 1st, that's 4 months without seeing my fiancee, and from what I've heard (word of mouth) I will/might be sent to NTC (National Training Center) right away and then get deployed, which is why I am hella worried now she won't get her visa approved in time for us to be together already :( !!!

"Your item was delivered at 11:46 AM on June 14, 2010 in SAINT ALBANS, VT 05479 to INS . The item was signed for by D RENAUD" <-- Nervous I hope everything was OKAY! I had to have checked the packet atleast 1.7 million times... no joke.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports.... The Package has been sent ! ...
Well ladies and gentlemen, I finally sent my K-1 Visa package on Saturday (June 12th) via Express mail costing me a whopping 50 dollars :(. But that's peanuts to have my "vida" with me. Today I know it must have reached there even though USPS is telling me the tracking code isnt available at this moment in time online!!! Wish us luck guys, I get nervous just thinking of an RFE since I don;t have much time to waste (In the Army and I've been told the unit I am going to will deploy sometime in the future).

For all those that know my story, she finally decided to just come over and get married here civil, and then later down the road have the beautiful ceremony in her home country with her family and friends. YAY!

Again, WISH US LUCK and I'll def. keep you all posted on our process

Wow, great advice !! I was going to but you're absolutely correct. I will keep all your suggestions in my mind as I begin her transitioning. She has a good base for English but she needs more of it. I will be there step by step. Thanks!

Thank you for responding!

Well I just PCS (moved) to Ft. Campbell and I'm really all alone here since this is my second day EVER lol.. so no I don't know anybody but my ex who is stationed here really (and no they don't mix jajaja)... as far as restaurants that sounds like a good idea, I will take her to those as well as brand new restaurants to also get her into something new and fresh. Ft. Campbell from what I've read will give english classes which is awesome.

I'm assuming my case was expedited because of my military deployment status.. I did put in a packet for that. However I don't really know because I never truly received any confirmation it was due to that. NVC doesn't handle K-1's, so the day it was received there, they sent it out to the consulate right away. Once in Nicaraguan hands, I simply emailed them and I've been in constant communication since. He actually gave me my interview date not 2 minutes after I said we were ready (and to see if he could give me a date quickly). Lucky us!!

I guess I should be more specific in my question:

What do people normally do that bring a fiance/fiancee over.. and let's say they go to work. What do they do initially so that their fiancee isn't bored at home all day while they work, and do their stuff?? Anything I can put her in other than english classes? Buy her a gaming system jaja.. not sure I have many ideas (such as starting a hobby together i.e cooking classes, salsa dancing) If anyone has something to add or different please comment.

Thanks!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVISA APPROVED !!
Hello Visajourney world !!!!!!

First and foremost I'd like to give a big THANK YOU to everyone who has been there since day 1 to help me with every single question and concern. I cannot begin to explain how appreciative I am of you guys, and of course, of the existence of this forum which has made my visa process for my fiancee (K-1) 10000x much more attainable!!

Secondly, SHES COMING OCTOBER 5th !!! YES!! Our interview went superb (read consulate review) and she is receiving her Visa on the 5th of October, to which I already bought her plane ticket that DAY !! I CANNOT WAIT !!

Lastly, because of her coming to the United States, more importantly, a predominantly caucasian/english speaking city/state (Clarksville, TN), it will be much harder for her to adjust than say my hometown of Miami, Florida (mostly hispanic/latin decent). Does anyone have any wise words, tips, or perhaps any guidance towards reading material on how to establish a warm welcoming for her?? Books, personal experiences, stories, anything would greatly facilite her transition into the American Life.. American MILITARY life :S..

Again, THANK YOU ALL AND GOD BLESS ! :) !!!!! WISH US LUCK !!!

I filed too :D That's why we're friends, Vermont Service Center received it June 14th :) Still waiting for the check to be cashed, and then the NOA1, once that's good to go I'm calling the military line again to have them rush my visa! Wish me luck !!!!

Middle East and North AfricaBuying plane tickets
I would use those sites, but since I primarily use AA to book my flights to Nicaragua I always look @ the special discounts or perhaps special deals they might have on certain days. Check with your primary airlines website directly THEN cheaptickets/expedia, etc.. they give you a side by side comparison of all airlines. :)

Cheaptickets.com I believe is a rather good site to check... see if that works after you check your airlines website.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGeneral Legal Questioning with Marriage outside of the U.S/Military
Awesome I'll definitely look into that CR-1 Visa (have no clue about it) thanks so much for your helpful answers! The reason I'd rather have the big ceremony there is that I honestly have only 3 family members and friends here in the U.S, everyone else is over there hehe.. but hey, again thanks guys.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresGeneral Legal Questioning with Marriage outside of the U.S/Military
Hello everyone this is my first post on this board, thanks to my friend who directed me here.

Basically my question is this:

I am currently a 2LT in the United States Army and I have met a wonderful and beautiful girl in Nicaragua to which we have spoken and I would love to get married with her. However, I would like to get married with her in Nicaragua FIRST, then later down the road married in the United States. The reason I want to do this is so that she can finish her career in Nicaragua before I bring her over.

So, what are the procedures for this and how will this affect my military status? Let me know, thank you guys for listening!!

Awesome Mike thanks! Being Army I'm rather ####### when it comes to regulation sizes, how to's, what to use, etc.. and I'm sure this is no different. I just get worried where and how to put all my documents and use what folders.. etc. ooooweeeeeee this can get crazy!

Will take a look at your vid right now !

Okay!
Any specific size? I'm sure small will do it.
Then I'm juts going to send in about 30 pictures of specific time events (i.e My BDAY over there, Our engagement dinner, Xmas, New years, and family/friends). I'm sure this sounds good huh :) ?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPhotos for Evidence
Hello everyone!

Quick and possibly even quicker answer to my question:
The photos used for evidence, may I print them from my printer and paste/place them in a bag or paper? (provided with dates on back)? Or will it look to "fishy" since it is being printed out on "paper" and not photo-esque quality paper?

I ask because I'm willing to provide tons of photos for evidence, however it can get pricey (30cents/photo and I am willing to provide 50 photos possibly).

Thank you!

Let me know as well, though I doubt they do unless you're filing for expedited filing (upcoming deployment). I've been looking at that as well so I'll keep an eye on this post.

Thank you lifesjourney, that is what I was also thinking about. The fact that I need a blessing from the Roman Catholic Church. I agree with your viewpoint and the CR-1 visa is great and all, but if I do that, we will be married and apart for 5-9 months, which is hard/difficult. I'm going to go ahead and do what was suggested and consult a lawyer to see what it is to be constituted to be married.. Lastly, I will also sit down and share all the information all you guys provided to see what she opinion-ates.

Thank you guys for all the great knowledge. I'm sure not only I, but others who have read what you've written have also enjoyed it.

Okay great info guys but this is my predicament:

You are all talking about having the ceremony and THEN getting the visa process started or mid process, giving you time to disclose it on the packet or CO.

However I want to do this non-binding ceremony wedding AFTER the visa is issued for her to come because she does have a 60 or 90 day period to get ready and leave Nicaragua on the K-1.

So when how or should I just not even worry about disclosing it because I've already been "approved". See?

Thank you YaderandSarah, I will then speak to a Nica lawyer and see what constitues a "wedding". Her family does want a father (I'm roman catholic as well as she) so we will see what we can do. And if any VJ members want to help with the packet I will be more than happy to read into all of it ! My email is javielee@gmail.com. Thank you!!

Thanks yea I really enjoy reading everyones response because of the fact they're all both different and unique. I guess my only frustration is trying to hit the December mark so that she can finally be with me. Its difficult to find free time in active duty as an officer ( we get a good 2 weeks off in December or so they told me).

This is why I want/ed to do the "ceremony" without registering it on december over there, of which "hopefully" she should have been approved to come over, and get married here.

Its my wish and dream so we will see what happens. I'm just going to go over all the risks and options for her and we'll come to an agreement somewhere in there.

Also I'd like to throw another idea/ sugestion in there. What if we go through the whole K-1 process, she becomes approved and is ready to come over, and THEN we have the ceremony. How would I declare that? Or would I if she's already been approved? Let me know about this idea

The biggest problem with the C1 visa is that I won't be able to stay in Nica for even more than a week due to military :( so K-1 seems best. I don't get the 100 percent vs 125 statement but I will read into that Thank you!

Thank you jeromebinh and Bernie for your input and knowledge. Awesome that you did this as well Bernie, and that is basicaly what I am looking at doing (not registering the wedding). However should I report the "unregistered ceremony" at all?

Looks good on the 2 visas, I am going to go with the K-1 first then CR-1 if all else fails, however I'm sure I"ll be approved, we've been dating for about 8 months and engaged as well, been there 6 times already :) Thanks guys again!

I wish I was on "military expedite" but I am not deploying anytime soon (I can say that now but you know it can switch on the flip of a coin). What I am afraid of is my I-134 (AOS). In the "past" 3 tax return statements I made/make very little, however after my military school I make around 4,500 a month (avg..70k/less w/ taxes) a year. Will they cut me some slack on that?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFake Marriage in Nicaragua
Not too shabby, however it impedes me in my planning to do the CR-1. See if you can understand where I am coming from. I'm currently doing to my 2LT school (BOLC-B i.e Basic Officer Leadership Course) in June. I was going to turn the K-1 Visa packet a bit before June, then 4-5 months later (after I finish school) I return get my base (my station), more than likely already be approved in that timeline for the Interview, then hopefully be done by December (a 6 month or so timeframe).

If I do the CR-1 we'd have to wait even more time since I cannot get married till December or later, THEN be approved for the process (another 5-6 months or more), so we won't be together until almost the 3rd quarter of NEXT YEAR!!! See where I am getting at?

We basically just want to be together already.. ASAP. So.. there you go :)

I do appreciate all your comments guys, keep em coming!

Typically and I understand it can be difficult to respond, but "GUESSTIMATED" how long does/can a CR-1 take before she finally comes over as a green card holder to the U.S? I've seen K-1 processes go from 80 days to 300 days... but let's say I'm prepared and have all my bases covered, what is the "typical" time / process?

Nibake and I are in the same boat though I haven't started the K-1 Visa yet ( but will in June !!!). Having the wedding in Nicaragua is something of the most important-est of natures for HER and we all know how women can become so attached to what they want during the wedding/marriage processes (well I don't know yet but I can only imagine lol). I'm just "SAYING" what if they don't do any paperwork and the father/pastor/ whatever you want to call him (sorry for the ignorance) does the ceremony without any paperwork (perhaps he has a kind heart or..) and the reception right after and nobody is the wiser? This can always be called a "Celebration" .. Semantics is fun.

Well I was thinking more along the lines of going to "Selva Negra" a place isolated from almost all officials (since it's far away from a main city) and I'm sure contracting a pastor for the procession (unsure of the nomenclature here) can do this for us if I speak with him. If I'm paying about $6k for the wedding and reception, I'm sure the worker bees there won't mind what I do as long as I pay.

I see what you're saying though... anyone else with input?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFake Marriage in Nicaragua
Hello everyone!
Well, don't know if my question was asked before and I did try to search and read several posts, but didn't find any of my nature. Basically, my fiancee and I want to get married by this year (December) "hopefully" if we can get the filing back quickly (I hear being an officer in the military expedites the process due to proof being much easier to validate?)..
Well my question is the following:
I would like to have my wedding in Nicaragua though not "Legally" in Nicaragua so that I can apply for the K-1 via the U.S. I understand that if I get a legal marriage in Nicaragua I would have to go through a whole different process of paperwork (confirm/deny please?) and I'd like to deviate from that. However my fiancee is telling me she believes that I need to do it LEGAL, but I doubt that since I know of a friend who also did a wedding/reception there without having to do any legal paperwork of Nicaraguan nature.

The reason I would like to have the real wedding in Nicaragua and the Court-style wedding here is because she has all her family/friends and while myself, I only have my immediate family with me (Mother, sister, grandmother and uncle) my friends have either been deployed or stationed in other countries and the rest are off in their own world (studying, getting married, etc..) so I see it much more fitting to have the reception in Nicaragua and simply fly my family there.

If anyone can comment and/or contribute their information or experience, I would greatly and wholeheartedly appreciate it.

Thank you,
2LT Lee, Javier

Oh man!! I read somewhere we can simply hand write it. I wrote it to fit in the little box. I hope nothing bad will happen to me because I did that... It's perfectly legible and I did type it all on the 129F actual form, it was just the G325A that had the problem.
