Also why was I instructed to sent to Nebraska and they moved it to Calif? is that going to slow things down? Joymike has your check been cashed???? NOA1 is a receipt notice, they send with a receipt number and states the amount you paid. with the receipt number you can check the status of the case while at USCIS.... that number will also be stamped on the back of your cashed check...should start with 3 letters followed by 10 numbers...ex: WACxxxxxxxxx i don't think Nebraska is processing I-129f anymore, same thing happened to me, I sent mine to Texas and was moved to Calif..... good luck!!!	olgui	Female	Cuba	2007-07-18 11:10:00

I did call them yesterday and they said our names werent in any databases yet at all, and to give it another week. Would they receive my package and set it aside for a while or what? SO CUBAN GOV'T HAS THE FINAL WORD ON THIS SINCE IT IS REALLY HARD TO GET THE OK TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY.... AND THE INTERVIEW WAIT, FORGET ABOUT IT, WORD OF MOUTH SAY APPOINTMENTS FOR CUBA ARE BACKED UP FOR MONTHS, SO THE WAY I SEE IT A LOT OF PRAYER FOR A SPEEDY PROCESS IS NEEDED, AND PATIENCE..... Yes, but once they are approved they have six months to enter, not 3. right, once they have the visa on hand they have 6 months to enter, but in order for that to happen they must go to the interview... so God willing the interview date for my fiance will be before november 6th......... i cannot set up the interview until he gets his passport because they ask for the passport number, in order for him to get his passport he needs to show paperwork on why he wants a passport which i sent him a copy of the NOA2.... then the passport takes about a month to get...... K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	I-129F June Filers	Dear Friends: A little insight as to challenges that face Cuban K-1 applicants and why there is no reason for some VJers to be envious, angry or even stressed out on why CSA appears to approve or even look over some Cuban cases so quickly while others sit around and take longer. If you could only imagine how a normal, loving relationship in Cuba is so exhausting and difficult to manage as basic human necessities are daily challenges that no one could ever understand. Not even Cubans! For example; there are no visits of any kind permitted due to a 45 year old US economic embargo and if such visits indeed take place, there is often no proof of entry as the Cuban government does not stamp US Passports. Letters never reach your loved ones due to a failed Cuban postal system. There is no Fed-Ex, UPS or any priority or overnight services to Cuba so you better have all your documents in order or else. E-mails, IM's, Chats are non-existent because Cubans are not allowed internet access. Phone calls (at a rate of $1.89 per minute) are to different numbers as most Cubans (especially from the interior) do not have their own telephone lines at home and have to depend on a neighbor or a public phone to maintain contact with their loved one's. Cell Phones are for foreign tourists or diplomats only and no ordinary Cuban can legally own one, so no text messaging either. How about that! Now, can you imagine a simple request for proof of relationship? This is actually a very simple request but a very difficult task for petitioners like us given these types of circumstances. With all that said, even when you are lucky enough to have your US visa approved during the whole K-1 Process, the Cuban immigration now has to approve the departure by paying a $400 departure tax and a very lengthy wait and let's see process where they can tell you if you can actually leave the country. OH! Let's not forget that you only have 3 months to enter the US once your K-1 visa has been issued by the consulate or your visa gets cancelled. How about that! Now, would you want to trade places? So I beg of you not to get hysterical, offended, enraged or even jealous as to why (if true) Cuban petitions are processed more quickly, as I am quite certain that none one of you is willing to endure our pain and sufferings just to have our loved ones next to you. So a month or two of longer wait time is a very small price for freedom that we often take for granted. I think you have six months to enter and once you arrive three months to be married. Interestingly, my Congressman got a reply back from the USCIS (actually it's really the Dept. of Homeland Security, isn't it?) in less than 1 business day. The news, as quoted below was disappointing in a way that only members of this site would understand: The processing of the above case has been delayed. A check of our records establishes that the above case is not yet ready for a decision, as the required investigation into your constituent's background remains open. Until the background investigation is completed, we cannot move forward on your case. These background checks are required to be completed on all applicants who apply for the immigration benefit your constituent are seeking. We will make every effort to make a decision on this case as soon as the background checks are complete. If your constituent does not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 90 days of this email, please feel free to contact us again. Thank you and have a nice day. My petition is now on the 6th month. I recieved this same response in an inquiry I performed myself over the telephone with customer. The response came in an email and is IDENTICAL to yours EXCEPT it instead of 90 days says 6 months. Be glad you are not in my shoes. Have you heard anything yet? I love the last line! As you can imagine a 90 day delay for no stated reason other than they haven't finished is very unsatisfying. I did ask the congressional aide for more information but at this point she has washed her hands until the 90 days are up. I am holding out hope that, on rereading 7 times, they are only saying they haven't finished yet and not that there is a problem. Since we are all technically still within the 5 months for the I-129f approval that the USCIS website quotes maybe the liaison contact was just politely saying, 'don't bug us at least until the 5 months are up.' Dunno. Anybody else ever seen this kind of response before? And if so, how did it ultimately resolve? Any suggestions as to a different VJ forum where the text of the USCIS response might have been dealt with? As to contacting all your resepective congressional offices, I think, why not! If you do get a reply I would be interested to know if it is identical to mine which would indicate a canned response. And maybe if a number of Congressman/Senators start asking the USCIS why the December filers have slowed and, BTW, aren't the cases supposed to be handled in the order received, then maybe we will all see some progress! K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	Inappropriate Interview	have been wanting to put this out there for some time so I might as well do it now. In general our experience was like anyone else's. A lot of waiting for the NOA2 and then the scheduling of the interview. Everything is nerve wracking and you are always afraid someone is going to tell you sorry and hand back months of hard work. Looking back it's one of those things that you just have to wait on and plug through it and it should all work out, but don't expect it to be a cake walk. As we were called up to the first window for the interview, they asked my fiance like 2 questions in Spanish and then the woman started to ask me things in English like he wasn't even there. I didn't appreciate that since my fiance didn't speak English. As for the questions, we are just simply not super sentimental people and it really seems that's what they like. When they asked us when we started dating we said the general "oh in January of 2010" and we looked at each other searching for an approximate date. We do not celebrate our "one month of dating" anniversary or even the "one year" anniversary. We starting dating that month but we didn't mark it on our calendar. That was the first thing. Then I got the questions about our wedding plans. As others have stated it seems as though you should just make up a date even if you don't have one just to appease them. We had talked about a date but couldn't finalize it because of WAITING FOR A VISA. So I gave them the date I hoped for and she started asking about the wedding dress. I had already bought it and I loved it, but since I am a simple person, it was a simple dress - your basic strapless without beading, without embroidery and it's only distinguishing feature was one large pleat/fold in the front and light grey in color. So I gave her exactly what it looked like which I realize sounds like pretty much any generic wedding dress description, but that was my dress. After about 15 minutes of that I was waiting for the "your approved" statement and instead we got the question "could you come back at 4 p.m. today for a more extensive interview." Of course we said yes and were sent away with an appointment slip to go sweat out 2 hours. My poor fiance tried to calm me down as we got some food and prepared for the "Stokes interview" as it's called. We returned and had to wait more, then they called us and he went first. They interviewed him for about 40 minutes while I waited and then he had to wait out of sight while they called me down then he went up to wait. The interviewer was different from the other two people we had talked with and it was a young male. I answered basic questions about my fiance and his family and things like music he likes. Then things got a little more personal. I was asked when was the last time we had sex? where was it? did he use a condom? I was asked who initiates use of the condom and do I ever let him not use one. I could not believe I was being asked things like that but of course I answered all of the questions not wanting any problems and possibly being denied a visa. At the end of everything my fiance was called back down and the guy said that we had passed but we'd have to wait for a decision because he was not authorized to make the final decision. Following that, we had no further problems with getting the visa, everything arrived fine and we are now in the US, but I sort of want to bring this up with someone here in the US. My family has told me to just let it go and not cause waves, but it really makes me mad that things like that are allowed and no-one is going to say anything for fear of getting denied. Is that really a legal line of questioning? Or am I just being a prude American? Did that happen to anyone else? Before the interview we had talked about things in our relationship, but I didn't want to try hashing out exact answers that we didn't have because I didn't want us to sound like we had scripted what we said. Now I think we should have done something like that just to give them what they wanted to hear. Im so sorry you had to go through that..but sadly I've heard of this before.
