IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAre the blogs always helpful?????
Who cares?

I was actively watching this fourm last year as I was awaiting for my petition.
Following are my observations:

1. Some people are "cry babies", I noticed many who would start crying if they don't get NOA in timely matter, the fact is when you are in international relationship you have to bare. No crying....

2. After while many people feel that they are on top of the world, and many provide very useful information.
e.g. Aussie : read her response, always helps, her tricks works, you can cut time by following her steps
Yordak: don't read his posts, he don't contribute by providing useful info but still want to advise (mostly his belief), don't answers to reader's questions but questions them in return.

3. Some times lying is helpful. If you are little short on your resources make them up, learn from other people's mistakes and lie effectivly.

4. Don't spend too much time on this forum as you will only get deppressed.

5. Some people are very dumb, ask questions that are already answered. Do research "slobbbbbs"

6. Learn how to spell or use spell checker. ( I have made some spell errors find it)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat does this actually mean?

It's for categories other than immediate relatives of US Citizens, including immediate relatives of LPR's among other things. No worries if the petitioner is a USC as this bulletin doesn't apply.

That is a relief...whew!!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBored...just sharing some random thoughts....

I have to admit, I'm a bit jealous too, lol. I've heard that Direct Consular Filing can be faster (and I had planned on filing that way), but I've also heard that it takes longer. At this point I don't know which is best. It would be nice to compare with someone who did file that way and see if perhaps it is faster ???

I am so glad I read this because I get what my husband has been telling me the past several months. He keeps telling me that over there in the DR, people are filing paperwork and getting everything squared away in like 3 months...and I am over here thinking...how on earth is that even possible?

Direct Consular filing...too bad I don't live there right now. Oh well.

I know I am just beginning this wait line, but I am going crazy...and it doesn't help when your spouse starts moaning and groaning about the issue and there is nothing you can do but wait.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresProcessing Times
Thank you so much for the info. :)

Hi!

Welcome to the madness

Unfortunately, the timelines available through VJ are probably the closest guesstimate as to how long the process will take. It is useful to see who was last approved and on what date these members sent their petitions. However, historical processing timelines and other members' experiences will not be indicators of YOUR particular timeline and processing dates. There is no sure way of knowing when your petition will be approved, you will know when it happens. Some lucky people have received their approvals before the 5 month mark, but you should not bank on being lucky yourself (I hoped to be approved in about 3 months, but I am quickly approaching the 5 month mark without a single case update!). So, tell your husband to be patient and wait. Also, he might hear from some other people that they got approved faster or that there is a lawyer who made the process go faster for some friends or a friend of a friend. Remind him that a lawyer cannot speed things up and discourage him from spending this money (I know I have had to talk to my fiance on different times about this issue).

Best wishes!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresProcessing Times
I have been checking the processing times on VJ everyday since I received our NOA1 on October 6, 2010. Some days it moves forward, others it goes back. I realize that the information there depends on VJ members updating their timelines...but how accurate are these?

Does anyone have a more accurate database that I can be directed to? I know I can't really call the CSC because I haven't reached the 5 month mark yet...I am getting hastled by my husband, to whom I have explained the process a zillion times.

We are going nuts.

Thanks.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIR-1/CR-1 Processing Times
Okay, so just to make sure that I understand...the charts available on VJ in the 'Processing Times' section is just a HISTORICAL view of the processing timeline of petitions that have already gone through the process. It is not a current view of when things are being processed. Correct?

I ask because I was confused by conflicting data.

Thanks,

VJ timelines us statistics based on when members put in their timelines. Is based on historical data, so is an average..

However, USCIS has noted to NOT expect anything for at least 5 months, so this is the yardstick to use when deciding to call USCIS for status, (5 Months minimum..)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresIR-1/CR-1 Processing Times
Hi, everyone.

I was looking at the processing times earlier today and for the CSC, it says they are processing petitions with October 2, 2010 dates.

Is this true? This is according to VJ, yet I read posts that indicate contrary information and that te CSC is really processing mid-August.

Which one is right???

Thanks,

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC CLOSED again today :(

Whoa. I don't even know how to respond to that!! Let's hope no more frozen animal life comes to Miami :) Good luck with your NVC process! I sent our choice of agent by email and by postal mail. They only acknowledged the postal mail copy...in less than one day!

Will they accept a COPY of that form via regular mail? I have it...I have the envelope addressed but was trying to call them to see if I really needed to send it of not. Guess maybe I should.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresNVC CLOSED again today :(

My husband was wearing a jacket when it was 65 one evening when we were at the beach! Kind of cute...those island guys and their concept of "cold". Thankfully where I am in California it doesn't get too awful during the winter...but it's still not tropical!!

I called the NVC last night and got the message they were closed...we have been antsy as to whether or not they received our choice of agent form since the beginning of the week...and no response. So, after the call yesterday, things made a lot more sense.

Being in Miami, my hubby shouldn't have too much of a problem as the weather is pretty much the same here as it is there...however, sometimes it gets down in the 30s...which is REALLY cold for here. Last winter, the iguanas froze and died...

Hello guys,

I'm new to VJ community and don't know much about it, although I've read some of the stories and time lines here that are pretty amazing, I would like to know if there's anyone out there with either the same or a similar case like mine.

Long Story short: I started the 1-130 Petition for my Daughter from Cuba on 04-28-2010, everything has gone quiet fast in terms of process at the NVC, My Daughter's case was completed on 08-17-2010 at NVC but no word on the interview's date yet.

Does anyone knows the time frame to expect from the day the case was completed to when an interview will be schedule at the Interest Section In Havana?. The automated machine says that if you have not received anything in 8 weeks to contact NVC but, I have contact them and the only thing the answer is that the capacity of the Cuban section in Havana is too small and that they have not been able to schedule such appointment for her.

Please Help, Any comment will be very appreciated.

Matojo. :(

Hi guys

Does anyone knows the time frame between the date of a case closed at NVC and the Interview date in Havana consulate in Cuba.
My case was completed on Aug 17th, 2010 for a minor Daughter of a US Citizen and no word yet on the interview day although the automated response machine said it will take up to 8 weeks from that date for them to respond on my case.

Thanks Eli.

I know you are having the same issue as I was (Post Activity Decision).... if you want, I can send you the email (and email addresses) that I sent them to, and you can modify to fit your needs. Let me know, I'm here to help in any way I can.

I'd really appreciate it! I think I'll wait till next Monday to send any emails though, giving them roughly 5 business days...

Because she and Angela Barrows promised to do a follow-up for me. It appears that they are holding true to their word. My case was transferred on Thursday and approved on Monday.

You're quite fortunate :)

I received a relatively generic email from Angela Barrows on Monday afternoon... nothing since then.

I am a bit confused as to why you are writing your senator...your NOA1 is December. You are well within processing time, and I understand the need to be prepared, but you are overdoing it. There is nothing they can do for you, so theres no point to writing.

+1.

For those August filers who got recently approved (especially for an Indian spouse) - Did you contact USCIS through email or did the approval come randomly? I haven't emailed anyone so far, just waiting.

I'm wondering why mine is taking longer since I got my NOA1 in the first week of August.

Thanks :)

I haven't received my NOA2 either, so your case is definitely not unique... all we can do at this point is give it some time. I'm sure we'll here something in the next few days, as evidenced by the activity that's been happening lately :)

2nd RFE, this time my daughter's petition, and guess what they don't claim for the passport but for a TRANSLATED birth certificate. In Europe we have multilingual official documents, and it's exactly what we submitted, they are askeing for an english version of something which is already in English :bonk:

People I've never, never seen such a nonsense.
Do you imagine me going to see a translator and tell him to translate something from English to English???? :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

Utter nonsense!

Is this incompetence coming out of the TSC or CSC?

Congrats to all of you for your approvals. I haven't been on in a few days, since coming on tends to worry or depress me. I got in an argument with my husband over Valentines Day we are just both so bitter we are not together. We tried to make it a good day in the end. I just wanna let you guys know I have been in a long distance relationship with my husband for 4 years, and since we got married April will mark 1 year that I have not seen him.

My NOA 1 is July 29th, and my congresswoman said I should receive a notice by Feb 22nd...I am really hoping. Please pray for me, since I am feeling so down. I can only wait so long for my husband....I am out of energy at this point and beyond angry at USCIS.

I especially want to congragulate Sqdgns, bcuz he really needed to see his son and wife.

You're not alone... you're in the company of other good people whose lives have also been placed on hold- just like I tell my wife, any day now, we'll either be approved or get an RFE- either way, we'll be another day closer to being together :)

Keep the Faith :)

Hello my VJ family:

With God grace I was able to find these contact information (below). Just like Val & Gary, I was approved on January 27th, but my petition was not forwarded to NVC. When I called a SISO, these were the exact words he used “Oops, your petition is approved, but still sitting on the shelf in our records room. It’s good you called now. I will tell the records department to forward your petition to NVC.” I was speechless didn’t know what to say to him. Anyway he kept his word. I received an e-mail last night stating my petition is forwarded to NVC.

Feel free to contact these people, but be nice and courteous to them. If you all remember, I was the one who talked about God’s power few weeks back. After fasting and praying, God showed me many people to contact. So keep praying.

Hang in there... once you submit whatever it is they want it shouldn't be much more of a wait :)

As a side-note, this is precisely the reason I wasn't all for turning this thread into a new NVC thread. This whole process had been traumatic enough, no need to subject people still waiting or with RFEs through conversations about the next level... Just my opinion :)

He told me it was certainly approved and the NOA2 hard-copy didn't matter at all in terms of my case going to NVC as planned. They will resend it anyway. Good to hear.

STILL on track. Solid gold.
