200 days of waiting! Roberto and I are getting anxious. We keep talking about taking a trip to see each other before we go to Juarez. If we had the money we would. It has been a really long hard wait. I have mixed feelings about hearing from Juarez yesterday that it will be another month until they process the visa. On the one hand we have waited so long that one more month is nothing but on the other hand I really thought it would be sooner. In the best case scenario the notice will come early and I can still go during Fall break Oct 15-19. If the notice comes on the 17th like the immigration officer said then I will have to miss work. My department chair knows I would have to miss class so I guess it would be no big deal but I sure wish we could make some plans.
Most people have simply stopped asking me if we heard anything yet. It does make me so happy when I log onto visa journey and see someone has written something in the Juarez forum though smile.gif

I called Juarez this afternoon and they said they received our applicaiton on the 17th of August. They said that packet 3 and the letter will be mailed out to us on the 17th of October and that currently processing is taking 2 months. Not sure that is true but that was what they said.

I just got off the phone with NVC (the past two times I have called they YELL at me from the beginning of the conversation until the end). I am always calm and very polite with them. The person who answered the phone this time said my case has not been received in Juarez, my senator's office said it has and every single time I have called the State Department in the past they have told me it has. When I asked the person on the phone to explain the discrepancy she said, "why don't you ask your senator?". I said that I had asked my senator, then she got angry and hung up on me. I waited on the line and she eventually answered her phone again. I said we must have been disconnected. She said I TOLD YOU YOU NEED TO TALK TO YOUR SENATOR!

So I am not sure why every other day the State Department has said that my case arrived in Juarez on the 20th of Aug and today they said it has not arrived. I am going to call Juarez and spend the $7.00 which I haven't done yet.

I am not sure why some people on the phone at the state department are so rude especially when they should know that they are talking to people that are separated from their loved ones.

I haven't heard anything yet either. The State Department said that Juarez received our packet on Aug 17th. I followed the instructions on this thread that said to contact my senator to get them to check with Juarez. They did that three weeks ago. Still there has been no word. My senator's office says that CDJ says they are processing our application. I call the senator's office once a week and each time they say they haven't heard anything. Tomorrow I will call the Department of State again. My school has fall break on Oct 15-17 so I really hope I can travel then so that I don't miss classes.

Call back and see if you get another person. I am really getting nervous and excited, hopefully we get something in the next few weeks. Did you see the guy who wrote the story on visa journey today called "Weird way to get a visa" ? http://www.visajourn...howtopic=217479
I read that and I thought of you. I thought OMG that is what Margaret was going to do!
I think the guy was just lucky. I would be afraid to do what he did. But good for him.

If you find out anything let me know becuase we have our NOA1s NOA2s around the same day and our 129fs got to Juarez near the same time.

Yes I did. And yes they can
I did what Lisa said in her post and it worked.

She said " I called DOS this morning and spoke to a live person. Bizarre. I called (202)663-1225 press 1, 0"
That is what I did and they said that the packet has not been sent out yet and I should call back next week.

Guera,
Because you said you will need a few weeks notice for work it reminded me that I needed to mention to my chair that I may have to miss a day or so of class. I just talked to her and she said of course she would support me going to Juarez to be with Roberto.
The Department of State said that my applicaiton has been in Juarez since 8/17, that it is being processed and that I should call back next week. Hopefully my senator's office gets a better answer tomorrow.

Hey you guys!!! i havent been on the forum because I honestly thought that Estrella and I were the only ones in Juarez.
well My packet 3 left nvc June 17th, i got my apptm letter two weeks after telling me that my apptmt was july 15th.
I need to file a waiver, so Im still in Juarez, I came here july 12th did my medical on monday 13th(expirience on page 222) went to visa appt. on July 15th but after a short review of my papers a nice officer re-scheduled me for the 16th, it was late and they were about to close, so i went n the 16 at 6:30 was out of there by 8:30 with blue paper and my next appt is in sept 23rd.
Kind of like the story from strelleas acquaintance from hotel. I spent 21 dlls making the stupid waiver appointments.
I do remember beeing so stressed when i called nvc and all they could say was your case has been sent to cdj.
Have you tried the cdj website? theres link under the Visas Tab then click IV then it has a link stating all of the appts scheduled for the next two months.
also i have a useful number for you guys. : its a local juarez number, this is the number they use to communicate with employees at the non immigrant visa part of the consulate. dont press any numbers for the recording, just let the operator talk and then it will be transfered to a live persons, then you ask her to communicate you with IV, the num is 227-3000 so i guess if your dialing long distance dial 0115265 or: 227-3354 Im really sorry for not reading any of these sooner. I hope to be of help, because man...... its stressful being without my husband here in Juarez. he comes see me once a week. but you know..... whistling.gif lets just say i miss a few thing a lot more than others!

Can I ask you a question? Have you seen any US Citizens going into the consulate with their SOs? I was wondering if there is any chance I can go to the interview. I know everyone says no but since you have been there maybe you can tell us first hand. Also, are there restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance to the consulate? Is there any need for a car or is public transportation reliable? Have you felt safe there? Sorry for so many questions.

Thanks Lisa,
I'll try them again tomorrow. Did they give you any good news?

I like Guera/Sandi's idea of going to El Paso her fiance meeting her at the border. I told Roberto and he said that is a great idea. I wanted him to fly to El Paso and then we could go back to Juarez together but I am a little nervous about him arriving again on a B2 since he is now an intending immigrant in the system.

I also like chinman's taxi idea. Jeez I hope they send us all a big pile of packet 3s in the next few days, then I can see you all in Juarez.

Oops, sorry I didn't read your whole question.

The first 2 times I called it was a lady speaking in spanish and she updated all my info(I moved last month) and she verified the names and said that they were still processing the paperwork. She also said that they would send a letter to me when they have finished processing the paperwork. Finally the 3rd time I spoke to someone in English (my English is much better than my Spanish) and he said that they were still processing the paperwork and that they would notify my attorney when everything was done. He also said that it would take 4-6 weeks to process the paperwork. I asked if I could go to Juarez he said not until the they were done processing.
Uuumm, I think that's about it. Oh he said to call every 2 weeks to check to see if they are done.

I read somewhere that what they are doing is checking FBI records and depending how fast they get the results back is how long it will take to send us the appt letter. It said about 2 weeks but I have been looking at other peoples timelines and it varies.

This must be one of those Wednesdays that they are closed. I'll call again tomorrow. I called my senator today and they said they haven't heard anything and they will get back to me when they do. They said they will call Juarez before the end of the week. So do you feel like it was helpful to call Juarez? Will you be calling again? I am trying to decide if I should call or just wait. Did you really see some people that just took two weeks in Juarez before they sent out package 3? That would be great. So you think the processing in Juarez is the same processing they do at NVC? If that is the case then since we were all stuck in AP at NVC it should be faster at Juarez? smile.gif Don't you hope it is?

Can someone explain to me how to call CDJ and speak to a person? I followed the instructions on the http://ciudadjuarez....contact-us.html website but the options I got to a point in the automated system where it said to enter my credit card and I would be charged $71.00 USD. I just want to call and talk to a person to see that our case has arrived and is being processed.

Our senator's office talked to the CDJ consulate 2 weeks ago and they said that our case is there and is being processed but then the senator's office said they are just going to wait until they hear from them again when they send out the open invitation letter. I was hoping I would be able to call and get more information sooner.

$71.00 DOLLARS...holy smokes!!! I have a feeling that you will be receiving something soon maybe within the next couple of weeks.

I certainly hope so. Did you see anywhere in this site that gives more specific instructions on how to call? My phone won't permit me to call the 1-900 number and the credit card number was the one that led me down a long street of automated responses and asked for my credit card number.

Ok, I must confess I called the number 3 times last week(twice on Friday). I just checked my checking account and it is $7.00 for the call. After the recording of the girl a man starts talking I pressed 1 and then it said 1 for english or 2 for spanish. I chose english but couldn't figure out if he was saying immigrant or non-immigrant. I called like 10 times trying to figure out what was being said. Finally, I accidentally hit 2 and the man started speaking in spanish and I understood him a lot better smile.gif
but after i pushed 1 for english i pushed 2 and the system asked for my credit card information. If you press 1 at the end of the long message it said that the information was for all consulates except Juarez.
I was trying to justify my spending $21 on 3 calls to Juarez and I finally came up with the fact that I can send my SO $100 and he'll recieve 1331 pesos which makes up for it, right? lol

That is the kind of justification I do all the time. So which of the numbers did you call originally? And did you actually end up speaking to someone, if so what did they say?

I have a question for "old timers." Today Roberto called Juarez to ask if ours was still processing or if they sent our a letter yet and they said that only the petitioner can get that information. Is that true? So Only I can call?

Also, did you call and find out they sent it or did you wait for the letter? We want to go as soon as they have sent it because we think it may never arrive in the mail because the mail in Yucatan is notoriously bad.

I am glad people are finally writing on the Juarez forum! It makes me feel so much better to know we are not alone.

I just reaqd this about Juarez on the website immigrate2us:

The consulate continues to be the largest and busiest IV post in the world. In fact, it processes about the same number of immigrant visas as the next three busiest consulates combined. For the last fiscal year the consulate processed approximately 150,000 IV applications, which is a substantial increase over the prior year's total. That translates to between 600 and 1,000 IV applicants/day. By increasing staff and concentrating efforts during a six-month period, the consulate was able to eliminate a 45,000 IV backlog by March 2008. The consulate is now "current," meaning that the National Visa Center (NVC) is able to schedule visa interviews as soon as that office has completed its case processing. For this fiscal year the consulate anticipates processing between 130,000 and 140,000 IV applications.

Our open appointment letter arrived approximately two months after they received our packet. But they delayed with ours and therefore I got my congressman involved to rattle their cage. Two weeks after I contacted my congressman, we had our open appointment letter in hand. I hope this helps you.

That does help. Thanks. I wrote my congressman two weeks ago. They heard back from Juarez 3 days later and they send me the email they got from Juarez. All it says is that they have received our application and they are processing it and they will mail Roberto a letter after they process it. I called the senator's office again today. They said they haven't heard anything yet. Granted it has only been in Juarez for a few weeks but I still thought perhaps my congressman's office could find out some time frame for how long it is taking them to process them this week or this month. I Last week it had been 6 months since we started the visa process. It is funny to see that date come and go with no end in site. I would be feeling a lot better if I knew it were going to happen in a month or in two months. I want a deadline so we can plan our life together.

Where in Mexico does Manuel live? I talked to Roberto and he thinks DHL , UPS, and Fedex go everywhere in Mexico. Maybe you can send him a prepaid DHL package and the paper to sign in one package and then ask the delivery man to wait a min while he signs it and returns it. I don't know how rural the place is where he lives. I hope you guys get the RFE cleared up soon. I am sorry. You can do it Kathy! We used UPS to send back and forth the copies that Roberto had to sign. Roberto actually printed them out signed them and sent them back to me using UPS. If Manuel is in a remote place this might be tougher. It was also a little costly but they came to me on my desk in UNDER 24 hours, from Merida (bigger city) to tiny town KY.

Thanks so much Kathy,
I feel the same way. I wouldn't have any idea what I'm doing if it weren't for VJ. Today I looked back through all of the Juarez forums trying to figure out how long it really takes them to process the 129 f at CDJ. What Tom said really put me at ease. It is nice to have someone go through it right before we are going to go. I sometimes get worried that our visa will be stuck at Juarez for months too because if you go to the timelines and set a search just for Mexico it looks like CDJ takes at the very least 49 days (and most were a lot longer) between arrival and visa-in-hand. But if you look at what Tom and others have said in this forum it is a lot shorter.

I hope and hope Roberto will be here by October.

I am still torn about whether I (USC) should go to Juarez or not. Does anyone here have an opinion about that?

OK... I'm really confused. Tried to find the answer to this and found different answers.

Once the NVC sends the info to Juarez: One person said your fiancee does not have to wait for Juarez to send the letter. That you can call the consulate and if they have received the case, you can go on to Juarez.(If you have downloaded all of the forms off their website) But, someone else said you do have to wait until they mail the letter to your fiancee.

Also, what determines visa-in-hand or mailed out? Manuel has to travel 27 1/2 hours to get to Juarez. It would be awful if he had to go back home to wait on the visa.

Can someone please straighten me out ?

Thanks!

I read in this forum that you have to wait until they mail the letter (packet 3) but that you don't have to wait to receive it. I know that the exact forms in the packet are on the Juarez website and so the only thing you need from that packet is the letter. I also read that you dont need to wait and get the the letter in the mail before you go to CDJ. You can go to the consulate in Juarez and they will print a copy for you but only if they have already sent you one. I am pretty sure they receive and process the I129f in Juarez and that takes some time. Some applications have gotten AP at Juarez so to me that means you can't just go once they have it but you have to wait until they have processed it. I would love it if I were wrong. Hopefully someone who has been to Juarez already will know for sure.

I think we just experienced a miracle. Marcela took her 10 year old son and 20 year old son to the medical on Monday. We received results for just her medical and the 20 year old. We are instructed to wait until thursday for the 10 year old's results. I suggested to Marcela that they all go to the consulate on Tuesday to see what they say. We had nothing to lose. Guess what? They performed the interview and wa la!! We have a visa pending. We must wait until Thursday. As soon as we receive results for the 10 year old, we will go directly to the window where she was interviewed and we will receive our visa in hand. Not DHL!!! Not sure what happened here but it must be a miracle. When I see the visa in hand I will report back to everyone.
I have two bits of advice. Come prepared, and don't take no for an answer. Support your fiance(e) he/she is why you are going through this process. Honesty pays off every time. We were over prepared with paperwork and the person at consulate was quite impressed and the interview went very very fast.

Amazing! Congratulations! That is just great and it is wonderful advice.

I am gonna have a ton of questions for you in a few weeks. Our plan is to go in the beginning of October but of course that depends on how quickly they process our 129f.

FINALLY!!

FYI: Ciudad Juarez had our petition for a total of 50 days before they sent out the packet.
We're planning to be in Juarez the week of August 31.[/quote]

I am truly happy to see that some information that I have helps others go through the process that I am in the middle of. We are in Juarez. FYI don't forget that the consulate has some closures on the last week of each month. You might be ok with 31st of August. All the very best to you. Right now Marcela and two sons are in the interview. We are trying something new with a minor son. He had his TB test yesterday and they are allowing us to interview today and wait on the results of TB test. I will fill everyone in on how things go. I see this site as a family. If I can impart any wisdom onto anyone, it will be my sincere pleasure. One other word of advice. On the day you go for your medical. DON'T do what we did. GO DIRECTLY TO THE CLINIC. DO NOT GO TO CONSULATE. They will direct you all over the place and will waste a lot of time. Not much advice I can give about getting results. Take an umbrella and water to keep hydrated. IT'S HOTTTTT here!

I wish you guys the best of luck please keep us posted. I read everything in the Juarez forums because that is one of the steps I am most anxious about. We hope to be there next month. We are applying for a K1 visa and our case just got sent from NVC to Juarez. How long does it usually take for Juarez to send out the packet and open appointment letter? We have all the paperwork from the website filled out so we dont want to wait for the letter. We want to go to Juarez once we know it has been sent. When should we call to see if they have sent the letter out?

Thank you for responding! I was thinking of doing just that; heading out to Juarez and requesting the appointment letter at the window. In reality though, I'm scared to death that once we're there, they'll turn us away and say we have to come back when we receive the letter. Everytime I've contacted the consulate, I ask them if I can do this and they always tell me I have to wait at least two more months until they can give me the letter at the window. They told me that if I decide to show up at the window I must be darn sure the packet was sent out already. Had your packet been sent out when you decided to go?

Hey Everyone,

I was just wondering how long it usually takes for the consulate to send out the Fiance Packet. They received our petition on June 19, 2009 and i've contacted them several times already to see if they've sent it, but they keep telling me they have not sent anything out. It's been more than a month now and I'm just curious as to why it's taking so long. Does anyone know the standard process and time? Also, is there anything I can do to speed up this process? One more thing...Once it is sent out, how long does the packet usually take to arrive? Thanks in advance smile.gif

I posted a suggestion in another forum, but what you can do to speed up the process instead of calling the consulate and paying ridiculous amounts of money to talk to someone who will tell you things that are not true. Contact your congressman and have them get into contact with the consulate. I contacted mine and within one week we had our open appointment letter. Best of luck.

Ok I'm going to try this. Hopefully it will work for me as well smile.gif Thank you so much for your help!!

Oscarlore,
Please post to let us know if that works. That is exactly what we want to do. We dont have the AOS2 yet but it should be here any day now. We are hoping to wait a month from our AOS2 and then go to Juarez and ask them to print the letter. I have seen lots of people on here have never recieved the packet from Juarez and have to do just what you are doing. When are you going?

question 2 asks for a date when my fiance started residing in the US. he doesnt really know when he arrived, most probably somewhere 1980 or 1981. I assume it isn't really important, but it would be nice if somebody agrees with me on that huh.gif
Or does somebody know how to find out?it doesnt say on his naturalisation paper when he started residing, just that he was residing at that time...

many thanks in advance

I left in blank this part when our co-sponsor filed the I34. And ther isn't any problem.

Yeah, I think that the answers will work. Anyway if she'll need a waiver the consul must tell her.

My fiance is going to have an interview in 2 weeks. They told her that she need my Birth Certificates. I left vietnam when I was 4 years old. My Birth Certificates was damaged during the time when I left vietnam. How important is this? I don't know how to go about in getting my Birth Certificate. Does anyone know how to go about in getting this done. My fiance has two weeks til the interview.WHat happen if I can't obtain my Birth Certificates for her to bring to the interview. Are there any suppliment paperwork for this. Any information is great appricated...

If you're the US citizen I think that you won't have any problem with it. The US citizen only need to proof his/her naturalization certificate/US passport. But she must have an BC with her for the interview also for apply for AOS in USA.

Good luck

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionMexico K3 interview packet?????????????
Well, it's very usual that this occur. In Mexico the packet 3 hardly ever arrived but if you as petitioner will receive the packet 3 in USA your husband can go with this packet. The information in the embassy website is accurate at least when I checked the information for my K1 visa. The only thing that wasn't there is the affidavit of support (I134). Good luck
