You will do fine!

Hello everybody!

Just thought I would pop in and say hello and give an update.

All is well, Marlon and I have an interview for his AOS on March 18. I recently got a great new job with benfits that I start on January 29. My Master's degree classes are going well, I have A's in both classes!

Other than that I have been working, studying, and waiting for Marlon's EAD.

Much love to you all and I will have my internet working at home soon so I can check in more often!

Visa Approved: Where is it?
Last week, I made the VJ members aware of the good news. On Tuesday, November 13th, we were approved for a K-3 visa. On Monday, November 19th, I flew back to Jamaica to get my man. As of this afternoon, Kevin's visa had not been printed. crying.gif I e-mailed the Embassy. Of course, I did not receive a response. The Embassy is closed tomorrow. I have to return to the States on Friday. Please pray that it arrives on Friday, November 23rd.

You certainly have my prayers! good.gif

Everyone please pray. I have called the visa center just to check on the status and they have stated our case is under administrative processing meaning they need additional time for review. How so? They didn't tell us that at the window. They approved us and gave us our pink ticket to airpak. I am so confused at this point. I don't know what to do, what that means or anything. I emailed the Kingston embassy and I hope they write me back. What does that mean? He does stutter a bit, and did that more than I have ever seen him before but he was nervous and the lady was not that nice. I want to cry:(!!!!!!!!!

Hang in there hun! Don't freak out until you know for sure that there is a reason to freak out. More than likely he is stuck in name/background check which shouldn't last too long. You certainly have mine and my husband's prayers!

Hey there, it's me NowMrs with a new name. I just wanted to give everyone an update and this will be my last post on this forum. I filed for divorce on May 18 but my husband didn't want to do his part and accept it so we could move on. As far as I know he went back to Jamaica, I have not spoken to him since then, the sad thing is he was with me when I filed. So now I need to find out what to do to serve him? On a better note, I have met a wonderful man who I truly believe loves me and I am happy once again! He lives in another state so at least it's a little closer kicking.gif We are in the process of deciding who is moving where, we should have it all worked out by January. I am nearing the completion of my MA degree in European History, I hope the economy will improve so I can get a job at a community college teaching. That's all for now. I wish everyone nothing but happiness!

Asia: East and PacificYay! I got the NOA2!!!

My I-129F was aproved almost 3 weks ahead of the projected time, and no RFE!!!

So I've been gathering I-134 docs and still feel unorganized. I wonder how much they need pension evidence. My union has an administrator and I want to know if there's a specific form I should ask them for?

I am also retired and was wondering the same thing so I spoke with a friend who is an immigration lawyer. He said to show your letter of retirement from your company, as well as your monthly payment receipts. In addition, your bank statements will also show your monthly desposits. I will be sending my visa paperwork from thailand on May 24. Hope we can stay in touch. Good luck!

Actually, I found just too much ongoing deception and cancelled the engagement 2 days prior to my post. I was bored and trying to keep busy working on it, business as usual. Also trying to keep hope alive - I decided to wait a week and think it over. I decided I couldn't live with ongoing problem like that. So I'm cancelling our petition now. I wont be much help really but would gladly stay in touch as I wind out.

I wish you all the best in whatever you decide to pursue! Sorry to hear that things didn't work out, it just means that something better is destined your way!

Omoba!
I am excited to see that your fiance is in Sierra Leone as I did my senior research papers on the founding of Sierra Leone!!!

I suggest two documentaries for you to view and weep !

Cry Freetown ( www.cryfreetown.com ) and The Empire of Africa ( available at netflix).

It is not for the faint of heart and very tough to watch but needs to be seen by the world.
Possibly the most violent thing you wil ever see in your life time.

Thanks so much, I shall do as you suggest!

Africa: Sub-SaharanBlood Diamonds

Wow, I never thought about diamond mines in Canada. It makes sense that they're everywhere (geology willing). I wonder if there are many mines the US?

Bee and I are strongly against conflict diamonds, so that was a huge thing for us when we were assembling my ring at the jeweler's. After a lot of discussion, we felt comfortable enough to go with a Canadian solitaire from the Ekati mines. :)

Not anymore Reeces.. All the Rappers cleaned those out long ago.

Bling Bling.

LOL You crack me up girl!

Africa: Sub-SaharanBlood Diamonds

Hi, everyone! This morning I watched an interesting documentary on the History Channel on Conflict or Blood Diamonds. I started wondering if VJers, especially those with SOs in Africa, discussed the issue of conflict diamonds before(or after) getting engagement or wedding rings. Did you an your SO discuss conflict diamonds? Was it a factor in choosing an engagement or wedding ring?

Prior to meeting, Teddy and I had both chosen not to purchase diamonds, so of course this included my enagement ring and our wedding rings.

-DA

After I seen blood diamonds It was confirmed that we weren't getting diamonds. He is still okay with diamonds but I am not. I would rather have my birthday stone ( emerald green). So we will see.

I would also like to have an emerald!

Sorry to jump in your thread...my husband is Jamaican but this is a good topic. He's been here 2 years now :help: We are still adjusting to each other but it does get better with time. You have to chose your battles....some things are not worth mentioning.

I also live in the DC area and would be interested in a support group...if you don't mind. Please let me know. Thanks.

This thread is great and I too felt the need to jump in as many characteristics of African men sound similar to my Jamaican fiance. He won't be here until next year but I hope to gain some insight!
