US Citizenship General DiscussionTax filing issue

I think she would like to move out and move on with her life but she is not finacially able to now. He does provide a roof over her head and thankfully does not charge her to live there. She currently has 2 PT jobs that pay minimum wage and could not afford to be on her own and pay rent, utilities, food, etc.

She is planning on going to school to become more self sufficiant but that will take time. Not sure of her reasoning for wanting Citizenship now, except that she can apply now and does not want to wait for the 5 year mark.

US Citizenship General DiscussionTax filing issue

Thanks for the reply, but I think her situation is different. For TY 2013 they filed seperatly. She has the return for her filing but I don't think she has his for TY 2013.

Maybe she can get it as she has his SSA# but is it legal for her to request a copy of his individual transcript? He will offer no help in her applying for her Citizenship. She must do everything on her own.

US Citizenship General DiscussionTax filing issue

We have a friend that is hoping to file for her Citizenship soon. Her marriage has been a difficult one in that her husband has basically treated her as a live-in maid. She does not even have a key to the house and had to pay for her own on the ROC, AOS and is currently trying to save for her Citizenship filing.

Anyway, the filing requirements say that she needs to provide 3 years of tax returns or transcripts. Last year she filed an individual return (2013) and previous years they filed joint returns.

Does she need a copy or transcript from her "husbands" return for 2013? She says she has copies of the prior year joint returns.

They are still living together but I suspect that will end when she has Citizenship and a full time job. I believe that they have a joint banking account that will show co-mingling of money.

Thanks,

John

Odd... Just noticed that the WAC # (receipt) on our I-751 NOA 1 and the WAC # on our ASC Appt Notice (biometrics) are different.

Also noticed that the NOA 1 from CSC was mailed in an envelope from VSC and postal stamp confirms zipcode is Vermont. Odd...

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2 APPROVED IN 19 DAYS

Historically this does happen from time to time. I happened when we were going through our I-129F filing back in 2010-2011. Back then what it came down to was the service center was performing training sessions and would randomly select cases and move them through. Sometimes they selected older cases and sometimes very recent cases. Fair or not, that is what they did and it appears they are still operating in the same way. Nothing you can do except write your Senator and Representitive.

PhilippinesSingapore CNCC
My fiancée will need to get a CNCC from the Singapore Police and I have a couple of questions about the form. I hope that someone who has already filled it out can answer.

On the first page of the section that is filled out there is a section titled: Collection of CNCC Collected by: Applicant/Proxy. My question is what is this for? Does it need to be filled out and if so by who?

Also under section B.REASON FOR APPLICATION should I select OTHERS and state that it is for an I-129F filing at the US Embassy in the Philippines?

Thanks in advance,
john

PhilippinesDid I do wrong?
This is something that you and your 'little princess' need to discuss. For me and my sweety bird, there is a 21 year difference. We have discussed it many times early in our relationship. We have discussed what her family and friends might think and what my family and friends might think. We have concluded that none of those things matter. What matters is what we think and we do not have an issue with it. It is very important to find this out early in the relationship. Talk with her. What her Ate thinks may be important, but what your girl thinks is what matters. I hope that everything works out for both of you.

Fill in your timeline so we can see where in your journey you are. If it is after your interview and you got your pink slip, it could be your visa and your DO NOT OPEN envelope, although that should have come by Air21 courier. Hard to say with the information that you have given.

Well, I just sent my I-129F in and it arrived at the Texas Lockbox today. Even if I did know that the fee was going to changed I would not have waited. Nov 23 is a long way off and we don't want to wait that long to get the ball rolling. Lower fee would have been nice but I want her here now please.

PhilippinesBack from the Philippines
Thanks for all the reply's. I was down in Panabo City and Davao City mostly with a few days on Island of Samal. Transportation in Panabo is always by tricycle taxi and bicycle taxi. Not many jeepneys there. Either way you get a lifetime dose of carbon-monoxide in a very short time. When traveling to Davao we took a regular taxi or rode the bachelor bus line. In Davao we always traveled by regular taxi.

Took about 200 pictures during my stay. Some of them are actually good, ha ha. Wish i had video so I could show my friends back here the crazy driving there. Just finished my I-129F package (58 pages) and will print out extra copies for myself and Lourdelie.

Had a great time and thanks to all of you, I will get the paperwork submitted properly.

Just got back yesterday. Had a wonderful trip meeting Lourdelie for the first time in person. Only down side was the air pollution. Even though I couldn't catch a breath of fresh air, I would have liked to stay longer than I could.

Working on the I-129F paperwork now. Checking and double checking and triple checking. Hope to mail by Tuesday and not get a RFE. :D

PhilippinesCFO Document Requirements
Well now I am confused. The CFO web site asks for the following that are required for registration:

  • Original and photocopy of Passport;
  • Original and photocopy of visa;
  • Original and photocopy of Immigrant Data Summary for US bound/ Confirmation of Permanent Residence for Canada bound/ Certification of Eligibility (for Japan-bound);
  • Original CFO guidance and counseling certificate;
  • Duly completed emigrant registration form; and
  • Payment of the authorized registration fee.
The link that you gave me is for item #5 (Duly completed emigrant registration form). I am looking for item #3 (Immigrant Data Summary). Are they the same thing? Can others that have gone through CFO give some insight on this?

Thanks,
John

Philippinescalling it quits
Sorry things are not working out for you and her. Those same concerns are always in the back of my mind also. I guess the only thing that can be done is to talk about it. Make sure that she understands that there is a limited amount of funds that are available. Life stateside has to come first. After that is taken care of then there is savings. If she was the sole provider back home I could see her need to send money home, within reason. If not then shes is just trying to make life better for those she left behind. Understandable, but not if it jeopardizes your life here.

Hope that everything works out for you, no matter which direction you decide to go.

Find an airline with an Airbus A330. It will have 2-seat seating on the right side of the plane. PAL uses this but they don't go into Portland. They do go to Vancouver, Canada maybe you could catch connecting from there to Portland, OR.

PhilippinesQuestions about being at Manila interview
Thanks to all that replied. I really want to be there with her. As of right now it looks like that might not be possible. As we get closer to the interview I will have to re-access the situation.

I do like that you can give air21 your hotel address and have it sent there. That might help with the visa wait time.

Thanks to all.

PhilippinesQuestions about being at Manila interview
I pose these questions to those (fiancée and fiancé) who have already been through the interview process in Manila.

My questions have to do with the importance of the US Citizen accompanying their fiancée for the visa interview. I do understand that it is important, but I am wondering, how important is it.

I have visited her once prior to submitting the I-129F petition. There is a good chance that I will not be able to make another trip before the interview, and being at the interview would be very difficult due to my work schedule. Since we would have to wait for the visa to be delivered to her in the Davao region, it would be difficult to ensure that it would arrive before I would have to leave. If I go there I would want her to travel back with me.

I would like to hear from current and former K-1 visa holders that maybe only had one visit to the Philippines and/or were not able to attend the interview.

Did the interview go as planned?

Were there any questions about the validity of the relationship?

If there were any issues, what might they have been?

Thanks in advance,

John

PhilippinesWhat are the chances
Her sister in Singapore (not a Singapore PR) has a son in the Philippines so she has ties to home that way, plus her job in Singapore. Her sister who works in the UK is married. Her husband lives with her in the UK and would like to travel with her to US as tourist also.

I have told my fiancée that her sisters need to go the US embassy / consulate where they live and inquire / apply for visa. That is the only way they will know what they can do. I am not too hopeful for them to get the visa, but for my fiancée's happiness I hope they can come here to see her married.
