PhilippinesCFO for fiancee in Manila, Philippines

Sorry, But lots of wrong and incorrect information you posted.......

Well I'm not the one who posted that information, but you can't just say it is wrong and incorrect without clarification as to what was wrong and incorrect. Otherwise your comment is meaningless and worthless.

Another question. Does the Philippines have a National Identification card? This is also asked for on the DS-156. My fiancée isn't sure if her Social Security card number is her National ID number.

Well this is for a non-immigrant K-1 visa so I guess the answer is NO??

PhilippinesFilling our the On-Line DS-156
I have some question on the On-Line DS-156. Numbered as they are on the On-Line form.

20. Name and Address of Present Employer or School

If unemployed, do I leave blank or enter Unemployed?

22. When Do You Intend To Arrive in The U.S.?

I don't know exact date because I don't know when she will get visa. Do I leave blank?

26. How Long Do You Intend To Stay in The U.S?

Well, forever unless we move back to PI after I retire. What should I enter here?

27. What is The Purpose of Your Trip?

To marry me with in 90 days and live happily ever after. Again, what should I enter here?

32. Do You Intend To Work in The U.S.?

Eventually but not until EAD. It asks for name and address of employer.

33. Do You Intend To Study in The U.S.?

Eventually but not right away. It asks for name and address of school.

I know that some of the answers might seem obvious, but I don't want to answer wrong so any help is appreciated.

US Citizenship General DiscussionGerman Education - Translates in USA?

Not sure if this is the correct forum but.

My fiance has a diploma (Social Work) in Germany - Does anyone have information/ideas how to find out how to equate this education to a US diploma?

The German education system, while good, is different from the US. Seems I can't find much information on this topic.

Thanks in advance for any help...

I work as a G.E.D, examiner and I have seen many people come from different countries in order to obtain their G.E.D. because sadly in many instances, most foreigners have to start from the bottom up. I know of people who have PHDs in their country and for the most part it is not recognized here in the States.

It's really just a plastic tray to put your "outdoor Shoes" on .. keeps mud & dirt in place.. kinda like car mats but for your home! :)

Canadainterview tomorrow!

by this time tomorrow i will know whether or not i get my visa... and hopefully have it in hand. i'm doing my best not to stress or worry about it too much, but it's hard - it's make or break time. i know that our paperwork is in order, we're fine when it comes to the financial support, but the thing that worries me (even though everyone says it shouldn't be an issue) is my medical background. nothing that would automatically deny me the visa, according to everything i've read, because nothing is contagious or a threat to others, but it is the only thing i can possibly see them using to deny the visa.

but all that aside, just to make sure i've got everything in order:
- medical results and xray: i was going to roll the xray up into a cardboard tube so it's easier to take with me on the plane, would this be a problem?
- passport, and 3 (i know, i only need two but it never hurts to have an extra, right?) passport-style photos
- original birth certificates, long form showing parents' names (mine and his), along with one photocopy of each
- original immunization records, along with one photocopy of my boosters from last week
- police check from RCMP, along with one photocopy
- original: NOA2 (along with one photocopy); checklist from Vancouver; letter for interview from Vancouver
- original DS-230, pt 1 and 2 (pt 2 is NOT signed), along with one copy
- original DS-156 and DS-156K, along with one copy
- original OF-167 completed and signed by fiance
- 4 original, notarized I-134
- I-134 supporting documentation: letter of employment, 3 paystubs, letter from bank and 6 months of statements, the past 3 years' worth of income tax returns (all of this is original; should i make copies? will they want to keep any of this info?)
- evidence of ongoing relationship: travel itineraries; a couple emails; phone records from the last month; pictures (all from the family get-together at easter); updated letter of intent (4 originals); a copy of our I-129F application, which contains a copy of the receipt for my engagement ring

i'm pretty sure i have everything ready to go (it will NOT leave my hands until i'm done with the interview, lol). anyone care to confirm?

and now, to breathe and try to relax...

DO NOT STRESS! You will be approved! Good luck!

Philippinesnew USCIS fees go into effect July 30th

Right now AOS is $395; EAD is $180 so even though AOS would include EAD it's still $435 more. Maybe $435 is not much for some of you but for us it's quite a bit. It's worth filing earlier than planned IMO.

I'll be honest with you. it is quite a bit for us as well but there is no way around it so I see no reason to stress about it. Why work yourself up over something that is mandatory and will allow your honey to work and pay you back!

Philippinesnew USCIS fees go into effect July 30th
It's really not as bad as it looks as far as the AOS goes, it's only a couple hundred more dollars but now it included the EAD so no need for seperate checks. Still pricey though but worth it!

PhilippinesConfirming your Interview Results

all you have to do is call DOS at(202) 663-1225. Give them your MNL# and they will answer your question.

Maybe. Or, maybe not. I know others (like ourselves) who did not receive any help from DOS. In fact, during the three-week pergatory waiting for visa-release, the DOS wasn't even sure if my wife had in fact showed up for the interview! Seems like every different government agency computer system can say something different.

The computer at the USE and the computer at DOS are supposed to show the same information. I do not know why they did not help you, but any entry made in the USE computer pertaining to a persons petition, is supposed to show up on DOS computer.

Congrats to you both!

Anytime before Tuesday is great for me! Man, I need a beer! BTW, why is Mary flying into LAX rather than Phoenix?

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionds 156k
The DS-156K that I am looking at (Dated 10-2007, OMB APPROVAL NO. 1405-0096, expires 09/30/2010) does not actually ask you for your marital status. Question 4 says marital status, but the areas that are to be filled out only ask for information if you are now married or were previously married. The pdf file that you can fill out does not have a field next to the words 'Marital Status' that can be filled in. I would probably put N/A for items 4a through 4d or leave blank since the instructions do not ask you to N/A questions that don't apply.

Maybe someone else has better insight on this form.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionrecieved visa today but open..
I'm not sure, but a 6 inch long cut on the brown envelope seem excessive. This would allow information to be inserted and/or removed. I would think that it would have to be repacked in a new envelope by the embassy. Just my thoughts. Maybe someone else can chime in here.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionHow often do you guys communicate with your spouses abroad
Me and my fiancée video chat at least 3 times a week, phone call at least once per week and text message about 10 times each day.

And it's never enough but that is all we get due to our schedules.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionTax transcripts
Thanks everyone that responded. After looking at the embassy info I found this in the instruction packet for the interview.

"You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2)."

So it looks like only 1 year is required (most recent) and as Jim stated I suspect that transcripts would suffice. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

Thanks,
John

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionTax transcripts
Getting conflicting answers about this due to various old and new information on this site.

When I send the paperwork to my fiancée, how many years of tax transcripts do I need to send her? I may not be able to file my taxes for 2010 before her interview. I have 2 years where I made well over the poverty level (2009 & 2008). For 2007 I made under the poverty level due to going to school and working only part time.

I will try to complete my 2010 prior to her interview but can not guarantee it will be completed, filed and transcripts available for me to get from the IRS.

You must marry within 90 days of arrival in the US. How long it takes to get a marriage license will depend on the state you live in.
