K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	January Filers	I was touched on the 26th of April. I called USCIS today and the young lady I spoke to on the phone basically said that my application was still pending that that it may take upto six months!! I tried that route of wanting to change address; but she was not able to help. I'm hoping for approval BEFORE the six months she so casually mentioned!! Another 6 months my ###!! Why don't they try waiting 6 months! Ooh, that makes me angry The "6 months" USCIS always mentions is just the standard reply. I'm still counting on what the Customer Service agent told me when I called about two weeks ago. He said there was a large increase on all visa apps the middle of January. This would add another two weeks to a month to the backlog. The estimated timelines on VJ seem to be a good measure to go by. At least they were for us because our estimate was May 17th and we just received out NOA2 this morning! Also, to anyone who has not received any touches, we didn't receive any either so it is not necessarily a bad sign. Three months of silence and then GREAT GLORIOUS DAY! Congrats! She also told me that my address wasn't changed in the system, which I asked our lawyer to do, and she couldn't change it now cause it was already approved. She then said that I have to await the approval in the mail before I call NVC to change the address. So, I called NVC to see by chance if they already received it and she said "NO"! She told me to call every 2 days to check if they have it. I don't know what to think....happy or very confused!? Hang in there! What number did you call to reach someone at CSC? LOL Who is the extra? What's their name on the timeline, and their member name? I searched K1, NOA1, 2007-01-00 thru 2007-01-32. It comes up with 99. I "briefly" scanned them with the ole eyeballs and looks like all Jan NOA1. PS Now why would "Start" and "End" actually mean "Start" and "End"! We should have known better, it is just so obvious! When you contact your state representative, does he/she respond to you directly or do they have a group of people handling these types or requests? I just can't picture a busy senator or congressman calling USCIS about a single case that was brought up to his/her attention. I spoke with the assistant of my congressman but the letter and info sent to me was signed by him. His assistant will be the one inquiring for me tomorrow. She did tell me that she called USCIS today and there IS a huge influx of visa apps. So we could be looking at another 45 day wait That doesn't make sense. Are they all priority-filing employment-based visa people who get to pay $1000 to skip to the front of the line? And did you say that somewhere else too, or are you the second person to give that 45 day figure? I am the 2nd person to hear and give that 45 day figure. This sucks! No new NOA2s posted in the timelines yet today.. ...sigh George I wrote Congressmen two weeks ago Tuesday regarding inconsistent processing times and the overall lengthy process of obtaining family-based visas. I didn't (at this time) request for assistance with my own petition specifically - although I did sign all of the information waivers to provide them with any information that may be of assistance (and hey - if they want to help - by all means, get on it). Followed up with an email yesterday because I had not received a response yet. Today I got a letter in the post from my Senator who is up for re-election next year. Posted response he sent me in the USCIS forum. California Service Center This will be interesting, thank you. I can't get the link to work. I also warned you about checking every day and driving yourself crazy. Even with all the support from here, there, and everywhere, sometimes it is better to step back for a while and not focus on the waiting. You will survive it and you will be fine. Just hang in there. I should try to take this advice too! My goal was to go today without checking visajourney or uscis. And it's only 11:15 and I already failed. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	January Filers	hey there everyone, i've been browsing this site - and forum - for a little while, but only just registered... i have to say, it's depressing seeing how many of you who sent in applications in january already have progress made on your fiance visa... we sent ours in, and it was received, something like january 22 and we received our confirmation number, but that's it. when my fiance (he's the 'sponsor', as he's the US resident) has checked the site, it indicates that they are currently processing applications about 6 months in arrears, ie january 07 was processing july 06 and so on... if this is true, it means nothing will happen with ours until at least mid-july. is this correct? Dont worry, for some reason USCIS numbers are wrong. USCIS is currently processing January cases now. As a matter of fact we have a VJ member with a NOA1 date of January 22 that has received their approval already. So yours should be coming soon....we all hope. No, they aren't "wrong," and it's not "for some reason." They just represent the outer limits of how long it should take. There ARE people who are in processing for 180 days, but there's probably circumstances at play (multiple RFEs or admin review, whatever). The AVERAGE is 2.9 months. USCIS hasn't been making an ongoing typo on their website, you just need to know how to look at the data and in what context. This issue has been discussed at length and frequently around VJ. Where it becomes important is for people who have passed the 2.9month mark by a considerable amount ("considerable" is subjective) who then seek help from Congressional offices only to be referred to the USCIS processing times. It has been and continues to be my position that anyone who gets that line needs to push harder, using the 2.9 month figure (reported in USCIS publications) and anecdotally supported by the data compiled here.
