You can usually buy a ticket online and he can pick it up at the airline counter. He may or may not have to show a copy of the credit card used to purchase the ticket. That may depend on the airline used. Some people purchase round trip tickets as they might be cheaper than a one-way ticket. If you use a round trip ticket, be sure and call the airline and cancel the return trip if it is not going to be used (after arrival) so that there is not any confusion later in the process. With an exception of those lucky enough to file at VSC, you are looking at at least 3 months before an approval from the CSC. I got my NOA1 on January 29 and my NOA2 on May 24 just to give you an idea. Use the time you are waiting to gather important documents you will need at the interview stage and relax!
