United KingdomMy hair is wavy

Has anyone else had their hair go wavy/curly as they got older?

My hair was always straight from birth to...well...now. I've been wearing my hair long for years because it's a faff to go to the hairdresser in York...there are so few...but I got my long hair cut off to jaw length on Wednesday and with all that weight gone, it is now WAVY.

I don't want wavy hair! :crying: :crying: :crying:

I too had straight hair throughout my life but in the last couple of years it has gone wavy. I just throw it up in a ponytail!

He applied right around the time you guys did!
Not to mention he found out he needs another one from Jamaica cuz the other one is expired!

You have to factor in the time it takes the Jamaican postal system to get it to him....

True that! Jamaican post is the worst!

Update: exactly 40 days, Dan got his police cert today.

That means Marlon should be getting his soon. What date did you order it? (Sorry, I don't feel like doing the math! lol)

Well...27th or 28th of April he says. Of course this was AFTER they gave him the wrong form to fill out and getting it returned with the right form.

That's around the same time Marlon requested his. Thanks and good luck!

United KingdomENGLAND/SCOTLAND QUESTION

Hello everyone :) my fiance lived in Glasgow, Scotland and Lewisham, England i have no idea as to where he should be sending his subject access form. I just want to ensure hes sending it to the correct place any ideas? Thanks

im sorry i didnt mention i am from the US never been to the UK and Fiance is in Jamaica.

Hey, sorry I haven't emailed you back yet. Do a web search for UK Subject Access Form. It all depends on which part he lived in. Marlon was in Birmingham so we had to go through the West Midlands Police. There is a search option on the website that will tell you whom to apply to. I would guess the last area he lived in in the UK. Devilette also has the option in her post. Hope that helps!

Keep in mind, JA postal services take a looooong time, it took a couple of months for Marlon to get his from the UK!

Hi all,
I am sure this has been asked many times before and I apologize but how much does it all amount to in the visa process?

Thanks,
Sarah

Hello everyone,
First of all I wanted to say to Kelly to hang in there and my heart goes out to you! Also, congrats for all the people who have gotten approvals!

Here's a funny story for you:
I was sitting at home on Thursday night writing a letter to Marlon explaining a game plan for us. I.E. why spend money that I don't have on a trip to Jamaica in December when we can just start our filing process for the K1 visa now. Plus I am close to my last semester at ASU and I really need to buckle down etc. Well, mind you I had not sent this letter yet but on the morning of Friday the 13th, I get a surprise phone call from Marlon (you know how expensive they are!) and he says to me the same exact idea I had about filing now for our K1 visa! I was floored but then again, we must have a connection right? lol Later that day I received an email from my academic advisor stating that I have permission from the department chair of the History department to take my last 2 classes in the same semester so I can graduate in May! YAY!!! I am so sick of school! lol So, I sent the first paperwork to Marlon so I can get his information and we are hoping to file in November or December. He may not be here in May for my graduation but if all goes well, he will be with me next year and that is what is important! So I wanted to share this glorious information and I thought what better place then with people who are or were in the same boat as I? Please keep your fingers crossed for us and if I am a pain in asking stupid questions in the future, please bear with me! lol
Attached is a little picture slide show that I made with one of my favorite songs from my trip to Jamaica in September. It was also our first meeting in person.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaSorry I have not been on in awhile...

Sorry to hear about your monther. My condolences to you and your family and this trying time. (F)

Thank everyone so much for your kind words and support! It has been tough but I am tougher and I will succeed! Just curious though, was this site down for awhile? Today when I logged in everything was normal. Hmmm, maybe it's just me? lol Anyway, I won't be going to Jamaica next month after all but Marlon and I will be filing our paperwork soon hopefully. He had to write to Birmingham, England for his divorce decree and police records. Thanks again to everyone and I hope to be more active on here!

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaSorry I have not been on in awhile...
My mother passed away on October 29. Just now trying to get back into the swing of life as well as pick up the pieces. Marlon has been very supportive throughout this most trying time in my life as well as my friends and family. He called me this morning and told me he got his police record already! So, he has spurred me to start getting stuff together on my end so we can file by December 31. I am hoping to go see him next month not only for his comfort but also to start my grieving as I have not had a chance to yet what with work and being strong for my family. Just thought I would post, thanks for letting me share.

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaGot this post from ETJ....
US Embassy in Jamaica to temporarily close in December
published: Friday | November 17, 2006

The Visa Unit and American Citizen Services Unit of the United States Embassy in Kingston will close temporarily during next month as part of the move to its new location in Liguanea, St. Andrew.

The U.S. Embassy said yesterday it would close temporarily to the public for at least part of the week of December 11-15.

"The days closed will be kept to a minimum consistent with a successful move into the new facility," the embassy said in a statement. "Exact dates and times for the temporary closure will be announced soon."

At the same time, the embassy said it was reminding all non-immigrant visa applicants to plan ahead and schedule visa appointments well in advance of anticipated travel.

"This is especially important for those who wish to travel during the upcoming holiday season," the statement said.

Emergency services

Emergency services for American citizens will continue to be available without interruption. American citizens with a bona fide emergency should call 935-6044.

The U.S. Consular Agency in Montego Bay at St. James Place on Gloucester Avenue, telephone 952-0160, will remain open for services to American citizens. Public hours at the agency are 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, except for American and Jamaican holidays.
